Thai Son is a chain of Vietnamese Pho restaurants with outlets in Vancouver and Richmond. The newest location is in the Richmond Smart Centre where the Wal-Mart Superstore is located. We arrived just after 11am on Sunday. It was not yet busy so we had a choice of tables. Their menu appear to be the same as the other outlets. The menus already look kind of beat up though.
Grabbed lunch here with a good friend on his solid recommendation, and my eagerness to try out another authentic Vietnamese restaurant in the hood. Thai Son is known for its rice dishes, and in that regard, it didn't disappoint 👌 I had the #46 (rice plate with chicken, pork and fried egg) with a half order of fried spring rolls (because I just HAD to have more food). The dish came with a lemongrass sauce that complemented the meat very nicely, as did the fried egg with the surprisingly well seasoned rice. Dining room decor was surprisingly upscale, clean and simple. Service was friendly and prompt. Looking forward to my next visit and to trying more of what Thai Son had to offer.
P.S. 10% off the entire menu on Tuesdays. For those of you that are budget-conscious.
○decent service
○good food/ my go to is the their seafood dry Noodle
○they moved to the new location by the new Walmart complex/ alot of parking space
○family friendly
○would I go back? Yes
This is the restaurant we usually go for Pho in Richmond. Their service is quick and friendly. I usually order the lemon grass chicken combo rice with shredded pork and fried egg - always tastes pretty good to me. My hubby ordered the special Pho this time and found it a bit too salty - mind you he always prefers his food a bit stronger flavored. If he says it is salty, it is probably very salty for most people.
My girlfriend wasn't feeling too well and I was doing a few errands. To save time and energy I thought I'd get take out from here. I ordered number 30, the bun bo hue. The service is quick and friendly and the prices are reasonable. Ten bucks and I'm out the door.
The broth was a touch salty here then other locations, not sure what happend there. I just added more hot water and it was fine.
Just as delicious as the other locations! Highly recommend the 46. It's huge, filling and sexy. Thai son specializes in rice dishes. 2 jumbo pieces of meats for the gains, lots of rice for the carbs. ;) yum yum in my tum tum
One of the more consistent Pho restaurants out there. Love that the soup is always hot. They give a lot of meat as well..can never finish a whole large bowl. My husband always has #46 (porkchop and chicken on rice). Pretty generous portion. Salad rolls are yummy. Spring rolls look like egg rolls but great filling (hard to find the traditional round vietnamese spring rolls these days). Service is generally good. The ladies that work the floor are usually friendly. Every Tuesday is 10% off!!
Food: 4.5/5
Service: 4/5
Ambiance: 3.5/5
My friend introduced me to this place a couple years back, and I've been coming here very often, but never had the time to leave a review.
From going here at least twice a month, I can say that their food quality and service is fairly consistent. Food always has very generous portions, and is very tasty. Definitely one of the best Pho places in Richmond. The only thing they're lacking on is the spring rolls, could be better.
Overall a great restaurant. Service and ambiance is about what you would expect from a Pho restaurant. Nothing too special, but nothing wrong with it either. Food is very tasty, and portions are fairly big. Price is also very fair.
What can I say other than its a cheap, consistent and satisfies any pho cravings. The prices are more than reasonable and although a bit salty, its not bad!
Thai Son Restaurant is located on 2nd floor of the plaza on Garden City.We used to go their another location on East Boardway in Vancouver which the quality is good and stable generally. I think it is the best one among all Thai Son locations. It's been a LONG LONG time since my last visit in Richmond location; probably at least 5 years. Thai Son in Richmond location was not on my PHO favorite list before since the overall quality was not outstanding in my memory. Well... memory could be wrong! Great meal with bunch of good friends and their kiddos!
Wow!!! The shrimp, pork, and bean sprout filled Vietnamese Crepe is amazing! It's crispy on the outside and soft on the inside and huge! Great portions and fresh food. Also has all the usual Pho place staples. The egg yolk condensed milk soda was delicious too and tasted like you were drinking white rabbit candy.
Food tastes great and generous serving. Restaurant was busy so obviously, regulars always come back for more.
I was just surprised because of the name "Thai Son". I thought it was a "Thai" restaurant but it was Vietnamese :)
Update: Come today and improve, the fish sauce is luscious, and the seafood noodle is great with the broth. Good job.
delicious food at a very cheap price compared to the common ground, delicious spring rolls with Vietnamese flavor, I ordered com rib skin but only had ribs rice, the restaurant should improve the larger plate of rice will give customers a better experience .
It’s my go to place for Vietnamese food. They are so consistent and always satisfying and complete. They serve consume and fried egg (#46) on entree at a very affordable price.
Two locations of thai son; Richmond & sw marine but exactly the same satisfaction.. 😋
