One of my husband's favorite: their famous Hainanese Chicken and their curry beef brisket. Diner is a small restaurant that can fit several tables, we didn't have to wait to be seated. Authentic malaysian taste!
Food is pretty good for the price, especially the laksa and hainanese chicken with flavoured rice. It is not too oily but delicious at the same time. Laksa was also very hearty but again, not overly heavy with little bits of chicken breast on top. The char kuey teow was a huge disappointment though with a lack of flavour, tiny bits of meat and overall blandness.
Two friends and I went for dinner at this Singaporean restaurant. The owner and a waitress can speak Cantonese, Mandarin and English. They were the only two who served the customers when I was there. They were very busy running around and taking care of the customers' needs.
The food was above average. The hainanese chicken was the best among all the dishes. The chicken was very soft and tasty with some green onions and oil as a sauce. The flavour rice tasted excellent as well. We ordered Mee Goreng (pan fried noodles with some tofu and pork). It was alright. Not the best. We also ordered a dish of wok fried green beans with Belachen. It was okay. Asians would like the flavour of Belachen but probably not Caucasians. Caucasians might not be able to stand for the "smelly" flavour of Belachen.
We ordered pearl barley tea for drinks instead of coffee, tea or pops. It was healthier.
The restaurant was busy, so if you didn't want to wait, you should call and make reservation ahead of time.
The prices and service were fine. This restaurant is a small authentic Singaporean restaurant, so don't expect the service is going to be like a 4 or 5 star western restaurant. But if you like Asian or Singaporean/Malaysian food, this restaurant is a good choice for you!
