We finally got to try Big Wheel Burger last night and were extremely pleased with the speedy service, friendly staff and tasty burgers and shakes. If you've got a craving for some fast food, skip the regular chains and head on over for some top quality fresh food with fast order times. Definitely will be back.
Big thumbs up!! PHENOMENAL gluten-free options! Gravy is to die for!! Super friendly staff! Best ever!! Can't imagine anyone being disappointed with this gem!!!
I love how they came to Vic West! This is exactly what people want and they will pay for the good food. Vic West is the best place to live in Victoria in my opinion. So much is booming and happening right now. Big Wheel brings quality local food with local beer and good drinks and amazing service. I went in today and they missed one milkshake in my order so they quickly made one up on the house. Their friendly customer service cant be beat. We need more quality comfort food places like Big Wheel and La Taquista in Vic West. I hope the restaurant at the new Marina is good. I will continue to hit up Big Wheel for my burger, dawg, fried pickle, and shake cravings!! :) :)
Overall:
Pricey.
Above average beef burger.
Poor veggie burger.
A very popular place in Cook St Village.
The hubs enjoys the fast food-style beef burgers and milkshakes. Not cheap "fast food" prices with added side and drink but ingredients are farm fresh and locally sourced. A step above FatBurger and Johnny Rockets; however...
The veggie burger desperately needs attention! I wasn't impressed - the deep fried patty was hard, dry and not that flavourful. Unfortunately for nearly $9, a la carte, it wasn't worth it. Big Wheel is a dedicated burger joint in Victoria, known for a great beef burger, so it was a letdown. I sooooo want to come in and enjoy a good tasty veggie burg! I see I'm not the only one on here who has the same critique. It's such a competitive market in Vic with other joints knocking it out of the park in similar price range with like-minded eco-awareness such as Bin, Chuck's, PB, Dead Beetz, Very Good Butchers etc so I found my burger experience disappointing.
Hubs- Beef Burger: 7/10
Me- Veggie Burger: 2/10 (how painful to even write that!)
I still stand by the $7.50 Black Bean Burger at Pink Bike as best value (and taste) in town.
Root beer BBQ burger. Need I say more ? That's their feature burger today when I was there. Deep fired pickles were great too. Service always friendly and fast.
Great place and nice atmosphere. I believe in their core values and reasonably priced menu as well. They have feature burgers and a secret menu that are awesome!
Absolutely one of the better burger places in Victoria. Their burgers taste great and everything is local or made in house. I do think that the ratio of burger to bun is a little off (there is too much bun for the burger). I like that they have specials every week so there is always something new to try. Highly recommend their milkshakes and their ice-cream sandwich. They have outdoor seating and a little patio and it is dog friendly. If you tie your dog on the patio, you can watch them from inside as well as there are many windows.
One of my favorite places for burgers in Victoria. They stick to simple, local ingredients and have a great vibe. If they happen to be serving the Key Lime Pie Milkshake when you go, make sure to try it.
Amazing burgers! Friendly staff and almost everything on heir menu is gluten free except the veggie burgers (as far as I know). It's always somewhat busy but not overwhelmingly so it's good
Definitely would recommend
Really great burgers!! I've had their regular big wheel burgers three times now and it's always fresh and consistent. Love the gluten free buns and the beef is juicy and well cooked. Yum!
Wow! Looking at reviews, I wasn't expecting much when I stepped into this adorable little spot in the heart of Cook Street Village for a bite. After 7pm on a Saturday, the line was nonexistent, unlike when I passed by earlier in the day. For a flat $16 I ordered a cheeseburger with fries and a shake. The cookies and cream shake is BY FAR the best shake I've had ever, anywhere. They should have a caution: habit forming label on the cute eco friendly cup it comes in. The burger was to die for, the perfect amounts of fixings, sauciness, and meat to satisfy without making a sloppy mess of yourself. Perfection, right down to the angelic level of toastiness on the bun. The fries, hot and crunchy, perfectly salted and fluffy on the inside like the perfect fry should be. This neat little joint was anything but a dive: well maintained condiment bar, all the tables, counters, and floors were impeccable, and the staff were friendly and charming. Big Wheel Burger will definitely be seeing my patronage again.
This place is the old burger joint from my childhood of the 60's. The only difference is the price. A burger, fries and a shake costs $15. The ambiance is greasy spoon. You order your food at the cash and pick it up when your name is called. They do a good job at what they do. The shake tastes like a real milk shake. The pre-salted fries are very good. The burger is just like they made them at the soda counter in the good old days. There is no artisan bun or fancy schmancy fillings. It's pretty basic. Obviously a lot of people like them that way because it's a busy little spot.
This burger 🍔 bacon 🥓 cheese 🧀 actually filled me up. Was nicely spiced and very flavourful! Thank you so much 👍
Burgers are consistently excellent. The meat is ground fresh every morning which makes it taste top notch. Their garlic parm fries and milkshakes are THE BEST. Also appreciate that they focus on 100% sustainable practices!
I took my burger to go, so won't review the atmosphere, which is fine. The burger was very tasty and my vanilla shake went down well with it. Staff are friendly and accommodating and provided generous servings of mustard and ketchup to go. Next time I will try the onion rings.
Every time I hang on with friends around Cook Street village, Big Wheel is an option for a meal. The burgers have a perfect size, and they also taste great.
I like the fries while I believe they can do better.
I can remember lots of good memories from there!
If you are looking for a very good greasy cantine style burger, this is it. Very very good!
The food was amazing! Would totally come back here.
I ordered the spicey Hawaiian, which wasn't that spicey tbh. And a side of fries which were excellent. Next time I'll just order the regular burger and fries (It totally gave me in-n-out vibes).
The cashier was pleasent, but certainly didn't go above and beyond. The kitchen staff seemed chipper and cheerful.
You can also sub in a veggie burger for any of the burgers which was great. And everything is biodegradable there, which I loved with my whole heart.
Thanks for caring about the environment!
Not a place to go if you want to grab a quick meal, as the music is so loud (and bad) that it's obvious they don't want you to stay 1 minute longer than necessary... It was after 8 so maybe it's not that bad all the time.
Food was good, fresh, well seasoned. No ice for drinks and everything is self serve like McDonald's but at least everything is compostable when you're bussing your own table. 😆

The first time I had their double cheeseburger via delivery app, I already became a fan. Here’s me trying their crispy chicken burger at Cook St. branch. They have a cool crew as well!
Great place! Fries were amazing, food was served quick, and the restaurant itself is very nice, at least for waiting. The employee who took my order was also very nice, and seemed to enjoy his job. I also recommend the shake! I will be returning on my next trip to Victoria!
Burgers are really good. Fries are hot and crispy.
Prices are high though, $51.00 for two burgers, one fry, one Pepsi and one beer.
Then I had to try the chocolate shake which was $7.50 plus tax.
