We did the chef's tasting menu and the vegetarian tasting menu. Each of the 5 dishes on each of the 2 tasting menus was carefully crafted so that it had several distinctive unique and uncommon flavors that came together in a beautiful way. Doing this for one dish is impressive for 10 dishes it is simply incredible!
I highly recommend doing the wine pairing with the tasting menu. On some dishes the wine made the dish and on others the dish made the wine.
Executive Chef Rob Cassels is truly a rising star in the culinary industry, and Front of House Manager Ryan McGibbon was exquisite; he made impressive drinks he provided exquisite detail on the food served and nailed the complicated wine names from all across the world on top of that he is one of the most likable personable people I have ever encountered.
This dining experience was perfection. We had the tasting menu with the wine pairing. Superb food, excellent service and yet it never felt pretentious or snobby. The tasting menu was divine. I loved every course and look forward to going back for the ala carte menu! Thanks for a wonderful meal. I have lived in Victoria for two years and this has been by far the best dinner we have enjoyed!!!
An anchor to the contemporary French fine dinning experience in Victoria. Visually inspirational for every dish we ordered. A mixture of different textures and tastes for each ingredient as those explode in mouth. Recommend their medium rare steak and seasonal berries as dessert.
Our return visit for we love the atmosphere and the waitress is approachable and friendly. Waiter and waitress know their dishes well. My only side suggestion is to approach the diners with questions while they’re not having a moment (Eg. laughing). Our conversation came to a hilarious end, as we try to hold on our laughter the waitress came dropping us with a question. Our moment of climatic enjoyment got cut off/ short since we had to quickly recover to respond. Here their timing is key.
We went there for the 1st time tonight and were blown away-service was incredible and sadly forgot the receipt to remember her name. Food was absolutely incredible! Most outstanding dish for us was the pork belly appetizer! Everything else was so beautifully presented and all the flavors were on point making it a full on sensory experience -highly recommend👌👍👍
We've been to Saveur a few times now. Thought I'd post a review.
Prices are definitely on the higher side and portions are smaller as well, but the quality of food is excellent.
Started off with the soba noodles and rosti. The soba noodles are to die for, although the portion was 1/4 of the size compared to when we ordered them which was a bit disappointing.
My fiancee got the tuna and I had the burger. Everything was fantastic as usual.
We finished off by sharing lemon pudding which was amazing.
Service was outstanding (and was the two prior times we dined here). Victoria doesn't have a plethora of fine dining experiences. If you're looking for a fancier spot for a special night out, I'd highly recommend Saveur.
Bon appetit!
Great food and wonderful service! The flavours were delicate and well balanced, yet super flavourful and unique. The presentation was beautiful. The service was great; We took our time and didn't feel rushed.
We came on a sunday without realizing that there is a set menu on sunday's, I was pretty skeptical going into it as the menu items sounded very unique and I am a tad on the fence when it comes to new foods. I was pleasently surprised by what we ordered, but I thought that everything was so close to perfection, yet not quite there yet because of the small details. Everything was presented beautifully, the cucumber salad and the beef carpaccio were delicious as appitizers. The steak was cooked to perfection and is from Alberta, as a person that grew up in Calgary, this was still proabably one of the best steaks that I've had. Although the fried hash with the steak had a burnt flavour because it was put into overcooked oil and the almond's with the halibut made the flavour of the whole dish bitter.
The desserts were amazing and I loved the sorbet's that were served as pallet cleansers, although it may be helpful if the server's could point that out as I imagine that not everyone would know to eat the dessert that way and the flavour is vastly different if you ate the sorbet with the main items of the dessert.
Service was fantastic, Shane was super attentive and personable. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience here and would definately recommend this resturant.
Worth the splurge!!! Yes it's expensive. And yes it was amazing! Good things are worth spending money on and if you've never had a fine dining meal, this should be on your local list to try! Service was attentive and on point. The meals were paired wonderfully with reds and whites appropriately. We started off with a super fun creative chai inspired whiskey sour! If James has it available, order it!!! When they say their tenderloin is like butter, it's true. And yes, you should pair wine with your dessert!
It's a small venue, with small tables but the service keeps on top of your table helping to avoid clutter. Thanks Chef, James, and Ryan for the great time!
Absolutely love this place. Tried nearly every dish on the menu and enjoyed all of them.
Food is not cheap and a little floofy (small portions) but that is expected at this type of place and food.
I tried the scallop and beef entrees, both were fantastic. Our server was one of the best I've ever had as well, very nice guy and oddly decisive in helping us choose meals which was great
The beet salad with the airated goat cheese was quite something. The chocolate cake has a beet white chocolate ganache poured in the middle and was great
Early seating for dinner which means the restaurant was not crowded. Mike was a great server. Mussels. Are. A. Must. Try. We ordered it 2x. Cocktails are forgettable. Maybe the wines might be better. Focacia bread that was complimentary tasted off - like it was missing salt and we found it hard to eat. Maybe it was meant to taste like that?!? Crab panna cotta with corn. Salad was great. Mushroom cracklings was great. Skipped dessert. Came here with high expectations but maybe that’s why I was a bit disappointed. Overall, the food was amazing and the best part of the experience coming here. Kudos to the chefs.
Absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. It’s the sort of meals that brings you to wonder… how did they manage to turn mundane ingredients, you find in any fridge, into something so delicious!?
The setting is clean and nicely decorated, the seatings were well sectioned for covid as well. I think they did try their best to serve but they were a little bit understaffed.
Would love to try more dishes next time in Victoria!
Nice french restaurant with an Asian twist. The food is all very pretty and the service is great (prob cuz they add an 18% service charge regardless of the no. of people in your group).
The food is on the pricier end but it's is pretty good. I especially liked the pork belly.
