My girlfriend and I stopped in on our first visit to Victoria (Canada as well) for a quick beer. After about 15 minutes at the bar we struck up some conversation with a man sitting next to us. Chatting about local craft beer, wine, travel, etc. a one drink stop ended up being a multiple drink stop. Never blatantly telling us who he was, it ended up being Mike, the owner of The Drake who even picked up our tab without telling us. Nicest guy, nicest waitresses, good beer, good vibe.. what else could you want? If you’re in Victoria, I highly recommend.

My friends and I visit the drake often, and have done so for years. Oddly I have few pictures as these are usually just wandering by opportunities.
One of the best things about this local establishment is the ever changing, but wide ranging craft beer selection. They bring in beer from the western states, as far as Stone Brewery, and even more from Washington and Oregon, as well as Vancouver beers or BC beers not easily found locally. Interesting and highly intoxicating flights can always be found. One of the bad things is that many of these offerings are one time / single or limited keg opportunities. So if you find something you absolutely love, drink ALL of it while you can, it may be gone next week.
Food offering vary and change occasionally. They used to have an excellent Chicken KimChi sandwich that was just perfectly balanced, but it has left the menu.
There is an outside patio area overlooking bastion square which is where we tend to try and sit during the warmer and drier season.
Parking is problematic with this being the downtown core, but then one probably shouldn't drive and imbibe. .
We found this spot as we were discovering the city while having a day at port on our Cruise.
We just needed a beer to Chillax and this place was perfect for that!!. There was ample seating inside and outside on the porch to people watch. There was also a bathroom available for patrons only.
When you enter, you'll be greeted by a host. And when you're ready, order at the bar.
This is a sweet spot to check out!
a cute eatery with good sunlight going through and tasty food. not busy at 2pm i. weekdays. the seasonal roasted squash and chanterelle mushroom was good with the peel of squash being very toasty and crusty adding another layer of texture. the mushroom was very tender. the only thing that’s holding me back for a 5-star is that i needed a smaller version of this (maybe at a lower price too) for an afternoon snack so was not the right fit.
So glad we stopped here for lunch! The muffuletta was absolutely delicious and a pretty good sized portion. My husband had the tuna tacos and said they were very good too. Staff were all very friendly and the atmosphere was laid back.

Such a tasty meal in a great atmosphere. We ate outside in the marketplace square and shared the baba ghanouj and a pork belly sandwich. Each was big enough to serve two people so it's a good deal. We also had a flight of beers and I loved the Dinosaur stone fruit sour. So delicious. We'll definitely be back..
Great selection of beers; interesting menu and some wonderful selections. The grilled cheese with kimchi is a favourite. The nitro porter was one of the most enjoyable beers I’ve had on tap. … came back again for my birthday; same positives and staff was awesome in accommodating a cake brought for me. Excellent atmosphere.
The Humboldt Squid dish is something I won't soon forget! It was so good that I didn't get a chance to snap a picture before it was gone.
Loads of craft beer options suitable for anyone's tastes and an extensive menu, also something for everyone. But wow, that squid dish...
Excellent food, much of which is made with local or regional ingredients. Evolving menu tuned to seasonal foods entice me to return periodically. Unpretentious; fair prices.
Absolutely delicious! Brought a friend from out of town, who is in the industry and they were very impressed with the flavour profiles and execution of the dishes. I had the Lentil and Hominy Bowl and left comfortably filled and enjoyed the combination of flavours and textures. They have a great tap selection as well. Staff were welcoming and very helpful in selecting dishes.
