Review The French Table - Vancouver

Em K
We came in on Sunday Feb 13 with the anticipation of the Valentine's Day set menu. Long story short, there was a miscommunication between Herve and I and we couldn't get the Valentine's Day set menu as it was only offered for Monday Feb 14th only. A bit disappointed for us at first because we had our hopes up and had cancelled a previous reservation to be at the French Table. Let me share with you how thoughtful, kind, and considerate Herve was to us; above and beyond. Because the Feb 14 menu was not ready, Herve offered us some of the items that were ready. He did not have to do that but I truly appreciate and recognize the effort he made to try to compromise. In the end, the Feb 14 items and regular menu did not catch our appetites but luckily for us, the French Table were offering specials that night. For appetizers, we had the French Onion soup and the scallops for starters. Hearty broth and gooey cheese with each bite. As for drinks, we had a glass of house red and white wine. For the mains, we had the Pan-seared skirt steak with paprika butter sauce and the Beef Wellington. Oh my goodness, it was the best; cooked to perfection and melted in our mouths. My partner shared a piece of her Beef Wellington with me and later regretted giving me too big of a piece. For dessert, we had the Tart Tartin and the Creme Caramel. Nice, light, and not too sweet to finish off. It was a blessing in disguise. We had a fantastic Valentine's day dinner and couldn't be happier; until Herve topped it off even more that night. Due to the miscommunication of the Feb 14th menu, Herve came by to our table to express his sincerity and apologies of the situation and personally handed us his homemade Blackcurrant jam from his farm in Aldergrove. How sweet is this guy? We left the French Table that night with our bellies and hearts full. The one thing I request of Herve is to share when his team will make the Beef Wellington and Skirt steak specials again because we are definitely coming back! Herve, you are an awesome, knowledgeable, kind, and considerate owner. Thank you so much!

We had brunch here. We ordered the Benedict eggs, ham for me and smoked salmon for my friend. The hollandaise sauce was great and the eggs perfectly cooked. I took one star off because we found that the sauteed potatoes were too greasy and would have appreciated a more generous plate. We will probably come back to try the dinner menu.

French Table offers relatively less common dishes. Sweet bread appetizer was interesting... as it tasted like chicken to me. Calf liver with onions and bacon was satisfying filling.

Had a lovely Sunday brunch here. Very relaxing as the place is quiet and not too busy. Excellent services and delicious food. Onion soup is very authentic. However, the waffles are a little too soft and chewy for our likings.

We came here for the first time and we were impressed. I felt like I was dining at a Parisian restaurant with delicious traditional French dishes. Everyone was impressed with the food. For starters, we had French onion soup & seared scallops. A couple of us ordered the frites and mussels and the rest had steak and calf liver. The meal ended with to die for desserts - pear almond tart, chocolate profiterole and crème brulee. They offer a great selection of wine, menu items, and fondues. The must order dishes are onion soup, frites and mussels, and chocolate profiteroles! We dined on a week night and found they only offered two sittings that night. A tip: make reservations and save room for dessert! They offer brunch, lunch, and dinner hours. If you want affordable and delish authentic French food, French Table is the place.

Had a wonderful meal at the French Table, service was good anda house family wine was top notch. Casual elegance.

Very memorable visit. Beautiful Parisian café style decor and lots of care taken on the food. I went for brunch and had the eggs benedict with smoked salmon. Classic done right. Chef came out to check on us and let us know that the owner actually grows all of their produce himself! He chatted with us for awhile and then brought us some freshly made chicken liver mousse on the house. Can't recommend these guys enough, fantastic hospitality and I look forward to trying the dinner menu!

It’s a lovely place and we came in really hoping for a great experience as we love French cuisine. Unfortunately the service was disappointing and that tainted the experience as appetizers were enjoyable and cocktails were great. Then I made a mistake of asking for a a different wine by the glass to match my halibut main. I had a Viogner prior to that. The waiter looked annoyed. Asked if I wanted a better wine, a sweeter wine or a red. I’ve asked for a bartender to recommend a white by the glass to match with halibut. The attitude was surprising, but also hilarious, as this was such a simple ask. The service went downhill from there. The deconstructed halibut Wellington was also sadly disappointing. The flaky crust was stale and pale, the garnish was over salted kale, the halibut itself sinewy would be closest description.

Went there for brunch with friends on Sunday. Amazing food and great service! Highly recommend.

Went today for my mother's birthday and we had the beef fondue. BEST Fondue I've ever had! Great service and great food! Totally recommend!

Thank Herve and Gilles for an incredible dinner! We'll return soon.

Best French bistro in the city! Great food, excellent service, cozy room. Love this place!

Herve does everything I respect and admire in a chef; he marries the best ingredients with superlative preparation in recipes that span traditional and modern cuisine. Gilles and the staff consistently provide top notch service. I'm always thrilled to go. I was there on the 21st, and had a wonderful Duck a L'orange. Myself and my whole family loved the entire experience.
Andrea Camp
Absolutely love it here. Amazing food, great cozy room, and best service in the city. Can't say enough good things!

The service was fantastic and the food even more so

A holiday lunch with friends. A nice cozy restarant with friendly helpful staff. However we were never offered a wine list and my food was so-so. I had the steak and fries with salad. The plate was so warm my salad was actually cooked. The steak had no colour and was tastless. I did love the frites with home made mayo. Dessert for me was chocolate moose which was over sweet and thick like pudding. Having said that my friends did really enjoy their meals. I would not return.

I went there to celebrate birthday dinner with best friend and we only ordered few appetizers and our favorite cheese fondue. The service was very good and we love cheese fondue and will go back again for sure. Must try their appetizers such as escargot and scallops!!

The French Table is a classic French bistro that’s located on Main Street in Vancouver. Prior to opening The French Table, owner Herve Martin had run the long-standing Hermitage on Robson Street for 24 years. We stopped by in late March for dinner. One side of the restaurant appears to be a bit more open and brighter than the other side but we wound up near the back where the lighting is much dimmer (hence the dark pictures).

The owner is passionate about his cuisine and his restaurant :) Great food and friendly people there! I've been there twice, both time having their Burgundy Fondue.... soooooo good!!! :D The wine soup base tastes excellent and the 5 different sauces are awesome, superior, marvelous! They are 1) Mayo, 2) Tomato Cognac Cream, 3) Soya Ginger, 4) Garlic Pesto, 5) Tarragon Pepper Cream!!!! Some herbs are grown by the owner himself!

I thought the menu, wait staff, and food was good. There was no fuss and the food was what you'd hope for from honest french cuisine. Above all, the restaurant was not noisy - we could converse and savour food at the same time.

This place is great!! Good food and the owner or server was just so kind and lovely. You can tell that they really care about what they're doing there.

I ranked them not because of the food, but because they were so empty that it was actually nice and quiet and my friend and I could hear each other. We ordered 2 eggs with sausage just to be safe. Our first impression was that the portions were tiny, yes, small size eggs – if you can still buy those. But the sausages were actually missing from the plate and the waiters didn't notice. We alerted the waiter who brought them on a separate plate, the sausages were tough, nothing like Oyama Sausages. Our half portion of niçoise salad was uneventful. I really dislike it when restaurants take the lazy way out and serve organic garden mix. You can buy that from amy grocery store, why would you want that when you eat out?! It should have been nice butter lettuce. The brown toasts were airy and light, did not come with jams. We both agreed that La Cigale Bistro is still our favourite.

I had a black winter jacket on ('cause it was cold!) and black toque and black jeans. Hardly dressy casual on the outside but definitely not trashy or looking like a bum. Nevertheless I was met at the door by an older man who walked up very close (as in, inside your private space bubble close), with arms crossed and a voice tone that challenged me to be in his restaurant. WTF? Fortunately I was part of a reservation.

Went there & pretty empty. Food was tasty but VERY tiny portions. Service bad with the waiter seeming very disinterested, like why are we here annoying him attitude. Prices high for what they offer.<br/>

Awful. I've eaten a lot of French food over the years, most often on my numerous visits to various regions in France in the past (so yes, I've been spoiled). I've also had some perfectly respectable French food here in Vancouver. However, if you're looking for something good then steer clear of this place. I took my wife and daughters to The French Table. <br/><br/>The starters were passable at best. My cassoulet had clearly been cooked not as a single oven-baked casserole but rather as grilled sausage and duck placed over separately baked white beans. My wife's coq au vin was bland and my childrens' steak frites (listed as a new york cut) was a gristley thin cut. Don't even get me started on the deserts. <br/><br/>If you're a foodie and you like decent French food stay away.

Meh. Was there for breakfast and decided to go with the Brie-Shrimp Crepes. It was disappointing. The brie was tasty but the shrimps were terrible. Cold and soft. Together with half melt Brie it did not work. I had to ask for Salt and Pepper. It was the first and last time. I dont go back.

I went here for my mother-in-law's birthday on a Sunday night and must say I was extremely impressed by both the food and the service! We had a reservation for 7:00 and didn't leave until 10 (we were the last ones there as we were a decently large group) and the waiters were fantastic about not rushing us. I had the baked steelhead salmon which was delicious! They even brought out a special birthday cake with a Roman candle! The menu was a bit pricey but I would say totally worth it!

Disappointed experience and expensive. Went to have dinner with three friends. This is the first time I went to this restaurant and myself have ample french cuisine experience so when I entered "the French Table", I expect to have a yummy, tasty and flavourable meal that I will keeping thinking about the taste when I go home or even the next day.<br/><br/>Not with this restaurant.<br/><br/>Service: each of us ordered a three course meal, and every single dish, the server mixed up our order. Before we had dessert, he mistakenly cleared the water glass of our friend and she has to request another one. The server was nice, but not professional in my opinion. The evening we went was 80% capacity, but I still don't agree service can/should be compromised at any time in a high quality restaurant.<br/><br/>Food: big disappointment. Since this is the first time I visited this restaurant, I ordered their daily special soup and entree rather than randomly picking something from the menu. The corn and parsnip soup - taste ok - maybe slightly better than out from a can soup. But that's it. My friend ordered the onion soup, it smelled really nice and smell reached me even I am sitting across! But my friend said it is too salty. The other appetizer, scallop, also the special of the day, looked good, but no wow factor.<br/><br/>Bread: I have to talk about the bread since it is so important in french cuisine. Sadly, the bread that is served is like .... crust is not crispy and no color. But lucky it is fresh. Even the bread served at Whitespot is better, But, are we not at the "French Table"? How come we don't have proper baguette!?!?<br/><br/>Time to talk about the entree. Mine is the seafood special of the day. Mussels and clams are not fresh. A few almost tasted like chewing gum. The polenta and the sauce, nothing special, and my friend who had the same dish as mine (and this is not the same one who had the onion soup) kept saying it is very salty. I am barely ok with the "saltiness". The fish and the prawns are fresh but the taste is just slightly better than those from frozen dinner. My other two friends have the veal and beef but they didn't say the dish was delicious neither (which normally they will be really excited when something is really excellent LOL).<br/><br/>Dessert: We had two crepe Suzette, one pear tart and and the espresso creme burlee. All are not up to par. Crepe Suzette was not flambé at the table - what is the point of having crepe Suzette at a french restaurant if it is not flambé at the table??!!?!?! Sorry - major deal breaker. The pear almond tart with fresh cream - pear was tasteless, and cream is Nestle's and definitely not house-made. My neighbour bakery probably done a better tart than this restaurant. The creme burlee - does not look inviting at all - the biscotti that came with it looked under baked and the texture of the creme burlee is not smooth. I can do a better creme burlee than here. <br/><br/>No, will not come back. Even with a cheaper price tag, my time is better spent at another restaurant, and the french table definitely does not worth the price tag and the name.

Went here with a friend. Saw them working on the restaurant for a few months, took me a while to check it out. Food was flavourful, and satisfying. The staff are your regular friendly types. Wanted to chat with the owner but I think it was his day off. Menus make sense. I didn't like the decor, but it suited the place. If your complaining about money, then please stay at home.

Never again........... Have you ever been to a restaurant where they don't give you a menu? There was a large group of us (approx 30) - the waiter told us the list of appetizers (shrimp, scallops, beet salad - no indication of how any were prepared) and then asked which one we wanted. He then told us the entrees and we picked them that. Again, no indication as to how they were prepared and no idea of price. Said due to the # of people they could not bill separately. I ordered the duck, which was very dry and overcooked. The dish came with some white beans and 1/2 a sausage. Are you kidding? Stay away from this restaurant - totally over priced, with poor customer service.

Perfect french bistro. We were a party of 8 on the 29th. Everything about this restaurant was excellent. The service was professional and friendly, our waiter was very good. The food was delicious and between 8 people almost every choice was different so there was a broad cross section of food, everyone thought it was delicious. We had the terrine, the chantrelle soup,a salad and charcuterie for appetizers. The main courses were the steelhead salmon, flank steak, new york steak, mussells and cassoulet, dessert was the espresso creme brule, crepes, chocolate mousse. Delicous.Great atmosphere and we would definitely go back.

Don't see the need to come back. I went here with friend for Sunday brunch and were immediately seated. Shortly after, two tables of four were also seated. We ordered before the other tables. However, the two other tables received their food before us. We waited quite a long time to get our food and asked if our food was coming. My friend had ordered eggs Benny and I ordered the quiche. About three or four minutes later, our food arrived. My fries were hot but my quiche was warm on the surface and the interior was cold. I asked it it was meant to be served cold and had it taken back. It came a few minutes later warm but not hot. I have to agree with another reviewer that it was nothing special and salty. I was also struck by the clientele: old people, including one with a walker. I'm in mid mid-40s and I felt young. The decor is supposed to be French but it seemed like your grandmother's living room. Plus, the waiter forgot about the honey I asked for for my tea.

Disappointing. Unimaginative presentation, uninviting service, flavorless (except for salt) and "way past due date".Very disappointing.

Disappointed. My friend and I had an 8:15 reservation at The French Table. We arrived early so we could have a drink from the bar. By 8:30 we were getting hungry so ordered an appie. The bread that came with the plate was quite dried out but otherwise the terrines etc. were fine. By 9:15 still no table and we were starving so agreed to order at the bar. One of the specialties that night was Chicken Cordon Blue so we ordered that. The chicken was dry, tasteless and seemed more of a frozen product you would buy from Costco. My friend and I ate a few bites and then I told the waiter the food was unacceptable. He offered to bring us another plate but we declined. No one apologized . When the bill came we were charged for both dishes - I said to the waiter I would like at least one of the dishes taken off the bill - he said that was not their policy. After I insisted, one dish was taken off. The owner never once came over to us even though he was present the whole time. I eat in French resturants all the time as it is my favourite cuisine. This was the worst meal and customer service I have ever experienced!

Pricey and Forgetable. I ordered 2 items : Beet salad and Moules Frties. Both were okay. Not bad, not great but how is that a $40 meal?

Like being in France. Having eaten at The French Table numerous times now, and having travelled extensively in France, I feel well suited to comment on The French Table. The ambience, the food, the service and the wine list are like a travel back to the small bistros in France. My wife and I regularly go there with friends and family and have, without exception, been pleased each and every visit. Our friends, after one visit, have taken other friends of their own there and have given nothing but glowing remarks about The FrenchTable. Congratulations to Herve and crew: A job well done and a real credit to the Vancouver food scene.

Worst dining experience! Atmosphere was great, food was so-so, and service was terrible. My DH ordered a salmon Benedict and came out with the ham Benedict. Server rolled her eyes when being asked to redo the order. Will never go back again with such a crappy service.

Trop cher. The owner and chef herve martin greeted us warmly and chitchatted with us before our server took our orders. but we discovered later that it was excessively priced for such blah french fare. the crab cake was a mess....dry as hay...did not enjoy it at all. after finishing our wine, we vow never to return.
Tomasward604
Terrible. The service at the bar was respectable but the food took a really long time to show up. The elk came highly recommended and was an incredible disappointment. The potatoes it came with were bland and not cooked properly. Considering the quality of food and portion size the meals were over priced. The creme brulee was a weak way to end the meal as well.

I don't get the grumpy reviews. It's a fancy French restaurant and the food is superb. Of course it's not cheap; of course the wait staff are attentive. As for the list of beautiful BC wines -- who thinks that's a bad thing?? I loved this place and will return.

BIZZARE!!!. The appetizers were ABSOLUTELY AWESOME..and then the main courses (duck confit & pork chops) were the WORST EVER!!! What kind of a freakin' French restaurant would F-Up duck confit!!!!! The Pork chop was as weird as the server...He wasnt rude or anything..just detached and odd! 1 Star for awesome appys for sure! haha

Love this restaurant!. Went for brunch today, it was fabulous. i used to go to Herve Martin's old restaurant on robson street, the french table on main was a funner, younger, version of L'hermitage. This morning i went with my brother and his friend for an early brunch, i had the Pain perdue, my brother had the eggs benny, and his friend the garden omelet<br/>We all kinda of shared the plates, the sizes were good, filling and rich. the food was delicious!!!! honestly will be back sometime this week, i recomend the eggs benny and the pain perdue! the omelet was good too, except my brothers friend has weird taste and asked for lots of exrta veggies inside.. <br/>i recommend u all going!! the atmosphere is nice, and the waiters are so french and funny. gotta love herve's new restaurantr!

Authentic French Food. Never knew this Resto existed. We planned to go to Ho Yuen Kee but they're full. Then we drove along Main Street considering to go to Crave when we passed by this French Restaurant & decided to give it a try.<br/><br/>Food in general was authentic and good. My teenager son ordered his food in French. In other French restaurants, like Le Crocodile, the French waiters would communicate with him in French. What bewildered us in this Restaurant was how the waiter communicated mainly in English with him, and kept emphasizing how important it was to learn French. We finally understood the reason at the end of the dinner when he handed us the name card of his wife, who's teaching French as a private tutor. That really spoiled our intention of going to this restaurant again.

Lovely place..... Went last week to the French Table, Great dinner, Love the pork chop !!!

Lovely meal, disappointing wine selection. Mum is a bit of a wine snob and was disappointed by the BC-dominated white selection. Had the beet salad, delicious and punchy, followed by the boulibasisse, thick with seagoodies and a dark and sexy broth. Took the chocolate mousse to-go and found it a bit too sweet, but perhaps the car-ride cause a chemical reaction or something. Parents footed the bill, but I can't imagine it was an inexpensive evening. 7/10

Highway robbery. Ordered beef bourgonion which was advertised on the chalk board for lunch at $16 when we walked in, then was charged $28 for the dinner version. I mean, seriously? Insulting. It was good but I felt like throwing up when I saw that I was charged $12 more for the same meal just because it was later, especially considering they had the board up outside still for $16!. The onion soup was too sweet, and the bocconcini salad was mediocre. We paid $105 before tip, and we had soup, a salad, the beef borgonion, a desert and 3 glasses of wine. I won't be back. There's just too many other fabulous places on Main street to choose from for me to feel ripped off.

Never will return again. I ordered the salmon sandwich and it came out in the tiniest portion with the toughest bread. The knife they provided could not cut through the stale, old bread! My server had the worst body odour and needless to say, service was a joke. Sitting at the bar, I had the pleasure of seeing all the servers fumble around trying not to drop/mess up customers' drink orders. They failed.<br/><br/>Save your money or go to Les Faux Bourgeois instead, please.

Won't Go Back!. The food was pedestrian. The waiters hovered over us like busy bees (rushing us through the courses) rather uncomfortable. Then arbitrarily told us we had 15 minutes to stay and placed the desert menus in front of us. We were very disappointed as we spent $250 thinking we were going to have an enjoyable evening with our friends.
Redfish
Blandest onion soup I have rever had ($11!) and bread was $3!. Truly the most bland onion soup imaginable for $11! And bread is another $3. Unbelievable. Definitely not worth the money. Pedestrian menu, uninspired French fries (mayo and ketchup supplied on request), tasty salad. Service ok, atmosphere soso. And kitty corner is the ever popular and interesting Locus. Hmmmm.
Roadie
Food is just so-so. And the portion is tiny for their price point. Service is a joke. Wouldn't go back nor recommend any friends to try them.

Good food; not so good service! Went to the French Table with a group of friends last night. Great atmosphere. Great variety of appetizer but limited choices of main course. All 6 of us were happy with our food (not overly excited, but it was good). However service was not was I expected for this caliber of restaurant. It was not super expensive but when dropping almost $80 per person I am expecting more. Had to ask for bread (which was very good) but found weird we had to ask for bread and again for more bread. How can you eat Escargot or pasta with no bread? Then when the bill came I realized we had been charged for each basket of bread - seriously, charging for bread in a French restaurant? At the end a different server (not very friendly by the way) came with the credit card machine to grab our CC and process payment. I was the first to pay, once done with my card he through the card back on the table (which was really weird, but then I though perhaps the card slip from his hand). Then he processed the card of a friend of mine and did the same ie through the card back at her on the table. Don't think that was very elegant or polite! Anyhow in a few words.... I am not going back.

Amazing Martini. The room is beautiful and the service was quite friendly. We had good appetizers (escargot and pate). But my main, the bouillabaisse was a let down. There weren't a lot of seafood and the mussels/clams were small. The best part of my meal, however, was the musee du louvre martini. It was one of the best martinis I've ever had. I would come back for the martini.
Tamilden
Disappointing. Although we wanted to eat earlier, when making the reservation we were told that they could "fit us in at 7:30." The place was almost empty when we arrived so I don't know why we had to wait. I was looking forward to trying out this restaurant but was most disappointed with the coq au vin. It was bland, the few mushrooms were shrivelled and the rigatoni noodles cold and tastless. There was no bread offered and we had to ask for water. We won't be back.
Main Street
Welcome to the neighbourhood!. We had a lovely dinner here recently. The service was excellent, the room is nice and has a very cozy ambience. We ordered salads, small plates, mains and dessert.<br/> It is very busy though, so probably make a reservation so you won't be disappointed.

So happy The French Table is in our neighbourhood!. We live in the heart of the city because we so appreciate its social and cultural amenities. Dinner at The French Table yesterday evening doubled our satisfaction score. The food is impeccably prepared and delicious; the service is gracious and thoroughly professional (merci, Gilles), and the pace of dining appropriately measured to enhance the dining experience. You bet we will be going back -- and not just for dinner; brunch and lunch also are on offer. Or even just a (totally yummy!) dessert and drink at the bar. See you there, soon!

Food is very good. Stopped innto this new restaraunt for a quick dinner and was pleasantly surprised. Very good food at a reasonable price. Enjoyed a nice salad, mussels and a linguini. ( I was starving). In the end, I was very satisfied with no complaints. I will definately recommend to friends.
Rod_armstrong
Fantastic food at a great price. I have now eaten here twice in the last 2 weeks and both time's we're fantastic. I dine out regularly and I can honesly say this place is a solid 9 out of 10 for quality food at a reasonable price. French inspired food without the price or "stuffiness". Now open for only 6 weeks, they seem to be hitting their stride. A welcome edition to main street. I promise to return, especially for the Scallops and Pork appy.
Jmegan.brousseau
Welcome to Main Street!. I recently dined at the French Table and thought it was excellent! We found the menu offered authentic French items that were both reasonably priced and very tasty (of the eight items we ordered - 4 appetizers and 4 entrees). The staff was knowledgeable and friendly and the wine list extensive! What a great addition to Main Street!

I Loved it. I went to the French Table for my girlfriends birthday with a couple of friends. Nice decor, friendly and professional staff. The ingredients in our dishes were very tasty and well assorted. All of that accompanied with a wide selection of wines. <br/>They even made a special "happy birthday" dessert (made in France, by the team). <br/>We will definitely go back!

Not inpressed. Dined at The French Table on Sunday. It was hard to find a dish I was interested in. Somehow Steak and fries does not sound French. I was hoping for Coquilles St. Jacques, Beef Bourguignon or Pork En Croute. For dessert I had Creme Brulee, they tried to make it look larger with an oversized ramkin. Was not very tasty and too thin.<br/>We waited well over 40 minutes for 4 pretty basic dishes. We were not offered any bread or anything while we waited. Very unimpressed.<br/>Next time I will walk a couple blocks farther to Chaisse Lounge and get a wonderful meal.<br/><br/>Will not return.

We ordered the tomato bocconcini salad and pate de campagne as appetizers. The salad was well balanced but the pate was a little bland. Half an hour later, we got our moules frites, duck confit, and coq du vine. There was an option to order a smaller portion of the mussels, so that's what we did. It was very salty and the taste of wine was really strong. The duck was also salty, but was able to be balanced by the vegetables. The vegetables taste like they were in the same pot as some braised pork we've had at Chinese restaurants. Lastly, the chicken. That was the best dish overall. It wasn't too salty and there was only a hint of wine. It was served with these rice crispy like things, which was totally unnecessary. Overall it was an average meal. Service was friendly but SLOW. Probably won't return.

Quite a yummy assortment of meats! The duck pate was excellent, and the onion marmalade really surprised me by its bold, flavourful flavour! Very sweet and sassy, like the person I shared this meal with ;3

We were on Main Street for some classic French fare, where a steeper price came with the promise of a higher quality in food. Though we came with a coupon to help bridge the expensive. An entertainment book coupon we were in reality not eligible to use, it specified that our complimentary entree with the purchase of another was only valid before 5pm, and we were looking at 7pm. I walked in to hear our server announce to my guest, “you are lucky, the owner must be in a good mood today”. Our plea to use the coupon was answered, it was a generous show of the good service to come, and I haven’t even taken a seat. The restaurant was an open room with clean lines. In the absence of the traditional white table cloths common at most French restaurants, were glass table tops highlighting the restaurant’s logo beneath painted in white and red. The room is split into halves with various framed mirrors surrounding both. They gave the illusion of there being room than there was, playing with space
Somerville Kitchen
Open for lunch, brunch and dinner, I thought it will be a perfect place for a business lunch today. It excelled on quality of food and taste, but portions and service have room for improvement
