Review Bufala - Vancouver

Gemma P
My favorite place to eat pizza in Kerrisdale. So, I came here to celebrate my friend’s Bday. It was happy hour so I ordered a Cocktail in 9$ which is normally 12$. Kale salad was little different than other reviews photo (before it had an egg and bacon on top. But now it’s gone 😅) But still, taste so nice. Fungi Pizza, some said too many arugula but I love it so it doesn’t bothered me at all. It was fresh and white sauce with mushrooms was perfect matching. Service was over the top. Thank you for a tiramisu 😘 Overall, I loved it! I will definitely visit again and again ~

The place looks nice with cute atmosphere and good service but the taste of the pizza was not that great for me. The pizza was bit oily. We were there on Sunday noon and the place was almost empty.

We went to Bufala for our first day last year and had the best of times, so we decided to recreate the memory by going there on our anniversary this year. We made the right choice. I love the outside seating and the waiters are always cordial and kind and very attentive. They were extra nice when we told them we are there for our anniversary. This place has the only Pesto Pizza in Vancouver that I like and reminds me of real good pizza back home. They also have great drinks. We ordered the garlic pizza which was both delicious and great to look at. We finished the night with the tiramisu dessert which was just heavenly. We will definitely go there more in the future. Highly recommended.

Ordered off doordash and will never order again. For $24, we received a ridiculously small portion of rigatoni that was cold with about 2 tbsp of meat sauce. For $24 we received a pizza that was also quite small and again, cold. Ridiculous. Photo of a small banana in front of the extremely small portion to scale

The service was very good, but the taste and size of the pizza made me feel it’s not very worthy. Simply the pizza was not that great compare with the price. I don’t think we will visit this place again.

This place hits it out of the park with their pizza. Always tastes extremely fresh with top quality ingredients. I would also highly recommend trying their garlic bread, its made before your eyes in a wood oven and they have their own unique twist on it. Probably in the top 5 pizza places in the Lower Mainland right now.

Two delicious pizzas shared. One with roasted mushrooms with arugula and one with artichokes and Kalamata olives. Absolutely delicious!

Bufala is such a great restaurant that never disappoints. They have great specials that I always looks forward to - we had a clam and potato pizza the last time we came and it was so yummy and unique. It's a perfect spot to bring guests because there is something for everyone and the food, atmosphere, and service all add up to a satisfying dining experience.

I have never been to a restaurant less accommodating than Bufala Pizzeria. Our dinner party consisted of 4 families for a total of 7 adults, 2 young kids (5 and 2 years old) and 2 babies (8 and 4 months old, with the youngest baby and her parents visiting from Ottawa). Because this restaurant doesn't accept reservation, I went ahead of the group at 5:45pm to make sure our guests and kids won't have to wait long. The waitress greeted me, understood the number of people and age composition, and told me the table she'll place us in is at the back and the wait will be 15 mins. All sounded reasonable. A few mins later, the same waitress told me that the group occupying the very table has a birthday celebration and our wait will be 30 mins. We reluctantly agreed as our friends were arriving and it turned out that Bufala made us wait for over 75 mins in spite of hungry kids and tired guests. What's more ridiculous is that the same waitress set us up at a 4' tall bench with stools. When we questioned how the bloody hell we can sit young kids and babies on tall stools, she offered us high chairs for the kids! Was she out of her mind? High chairs are for sitting kids at regular table height. We ended up splitting the group because our Ottawa guest has to breastfeed her baby and sitting precariously on a stool is not an option. The other group with the young kids didn't have another table to relocate to and had to settle for the tall bench. If we wanted to split up the group, we could have done that without waiting for 75 mins. And because of their callousness, 3 vehicles were ticketed in spite of each of us paying for 2 hours of meter parking. Were we ungrateful customers? I think not as our bills for pizza and beer totaled over $150. And now we have to add another $105 for parking tickets that could have been avoided if the waitress and the restaurant were more considerate and accommodating. Was the food quality worth the trouble? I had better pizzas at Rocky Mountain, Via Revere and Cotto Enoteca so I have to say my money is better spent elsewhere. On the whole, I don't recommend this pizzeria for their poor service, unimaginative staff and just acceptable food.

Decent pizza but deceptive services. Be warned, don’t come with a cake and ask for a candle, the server will be more than eager to take the cake box, come back with the cake on a pizza board, and whether or not it has been cut, charge you an $18 cake cutting fee and slap it on the bill. If she had mentioned anything about the fee before she took the cake, we would have politely declined. $18 could have gotten us another pizza or 10 packs of dollar store candles. So overall, pizza was ok for the price they charge but disappointed in the service and will never come back to a place with shady billing practices.

Haven't been for a couple of years. Menu is now almost exclusively pizza- very, very good pizza! Up there with the best in the city. Glad we went and we willl go back soon. The kale Caesar was also terrific and the service to match. Well done.

Delicious meal with 3 teenagers. Bread sticks were a big hit! We ordered 3 different pizzas and polished them all off--they were fresh, delicious and unique. Would recommend this place to anyone :)

Both the food and services are above average. Good for family gathering or having a sip with friends. The best pizzeria in Vancouver West.

Great food, friendly staff. Always an enjoyable experience.

Good neighborhood pizza joint!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great first visit. It has an interesting interior. When i first walked in it felt like a diner with the booths but the countertops and high table seatings were modern. It's a mix of new and old that works. The thin neopolitan pizzas were quick to prepare. I believe they were about 12" sizes. The special was potato and chorizo, which was salty at first bite but the white sauce makes it all work, especially when you eat it with the rosemary oil provided. The pepperoni pizza was a great classic and smoother tasting. Meatballs were a great starter.

Good pizza. Good service. Nice ambience. Not too loud. Easily the coolest spot in Kerrisdale right now. We had the meatballs as an appy and there's no question someone in the kitchen is making an effort. Five stars for being everything it should be in a mid-range casual joint, not because it's a white tablecloth/special occasion restaurant.

This is a pizza joint located on Blvd in Kerrisdale, just a couple of blocks away from 41st Avenue. They specializes in thin-crust Neapolitan-style pizzas, and also serve classic Italian appetizers and drinks. I had their Burrata appetizer and Carbonara Pizza. I quite enjoyed their pies, which are some of the better ones that I've had, although I do think that some people might find the toppings to be a bit too salty. Service-wise, the food was prepared relatively quickly and the staff are friendly, but not overly attentive. All in all, I do consider this to be one of the better pizza joints that I've tried, and I'd recommend visiting if you like Neapolitan-style pies.<br/><br/>Burrata ($19):<br/>3.5/5<br/>This was served with roasted acorn squash and toasted sourdough. This is the first time that I've had burrata, so I don't know what it's supposed to taste like. The cheese was quite creamy, although a bit bland. The squash was tender and sweet; I do wish that they could have cut it into smaller pieces however as it was a bit hard to eat with the bread. I really enjoyed the bread, which was nicely toasted.<br/><br/>Carbonara Pizza ($19):<br/>4/5<br/>This came topped with pecorino, pancetta, and an egg. The crust was nice and crispy, and not bland. Although there didn't look like there was much topping, it was actually very flavourful. It wa a bit on the salty side: I actually quite enjoyed it, but I think that it might be a bit too much for others.<br/><br/>Summary:<br/>Food: 3.5/5<br/>Price: 3.5/5<br/>Service: 3.5/5<br/>Overall: 3.5/5<br/>Recommendations: Carbonara Pizza

Went for dinner there and ordered beef carpaccio, arugula & grapefruit salad, pizza: pesto & ricotta, funghi, and finocchiona.   Portions were good to share among 4 people.  Flavour was good and the crust was yummy.  Only thing was i find it a bit too thin, hence the toppings kept falling off.  But I must say the staff there were attentive and super friendly.

For Dine Out Vancouver 2018 my friend's pick was Bufala for a late Sunday afternoon lunch. We got in late-ish almost at 2pm I believe and seating was pretty easy, no reservations required. They were however out of two of three desserts on their Dine Out menu! So you might want to take that into consideration.

You gotta eat here! Some family friends recommended this place to us and it was so worth it. Their Neapolitan style pizza is authentic and mouth watering. Its super family friendly and inviting as well as a great place to just hang out. I sincerely recommend the Funghi pizza and the Magherita pizza! The service was a bit slow, but the food made it worth the wait. Overall, It's a great spot to chill and enjoy some authentic Neapolitan style pizza. I will for sure be coming back!!

I won't come back. The meatball sauce tastes like straight from canned tomato purée. The Quattro Formaggio pizza tastes more tomato than cheese. The Balsamic Prosciutto has the prosciutto flavor overcome by garlic and balsamic vinegar. Overall very disappointed flavor.
Gakchat
Service was... serviceable. Nothing special about it. The pizzas are good, stellar crust, but skimpy on toppings when you take into account the prices charged. Didn't really get the feeling we got our money's worth, so no, probably wouldn't go again.<br/><br/>*The pizza sauce is quite sour, which is fine if you like it that way. We don't.

Bufala has one of the best pizzas in Vancouver, situated where Mac Shack used to be (by the way, also an amazing restaurant- too bad there aren't any other locations anymore.) Everything about each individual slice is amazing and seduces you into a pizza coma. The crust is chewy and delicious, and so is the rest of the dough. The tomato and white sauces are both delicious and don't overpower the other ingredients. My favorite tomato sauce pizza is the margarita (call me boring!) And my favorite white sauce pizza is the green peas and ham, with pungent Taleggio and truffle oil. The smell slaps you in the face. The kale Caesar salad reinvents the way of preparing kale, and the homestyle meatballs taste like what Mama would make. The comfortable setting is appealing and the smell is really overwhelming but INCREDIBLE! Man, this place really hits the spot.

Salad, carpaccio and pizza were all very tasty, tho we prefer pizza with more than one bite of sausage per piece.  We weren't that happy with our server tho  (who went by the name of 'dinner' on our bill.. She was rather condescending in general.  Only one of the three oils was marked with a name and it seemed like we were the stupid ones for asking.  Not a good attitude, but other than that we'd likely go back.  Reasonable beer special; not a lot of atmosphere.

One of the very best places to eat in kerrisdale. The pizzas are all fantastic. Salads are delicious too. Nice warm cozy neighborhood feel to the space. Great atmosphere.

first let me start off by saying that the food wasn't bad... although definitely can't be considered authentic italian pizza.. but flavours weren't bad. <br/><br/>we have been to this restaurant at least a few times out of convenience that it is a lot closer to us than nicli and via tevere (where we usually get our pizza fix). of those times, we have never experienced such bad attitude and ignorance from the servers. <br/><br/>right from the get-go our order taking was being rushed and server was rude, then having a drink literally dropped right in front of us without a word. our meal arrivals were at least 10 minutes apart. we are usually generous tippers but by the end we knew we were going to leave a tip that reflected the service... and we did only to have server rush out of the restaurant thanking us (sarcastically) after she had seen her 5% tip. funny how fast she went to look at her tips when we couldn't even get her attention during the service. that action really left a bad taste in our mouths. we will definitely not be returning and will be telling our friends to not even bother. <br/><br/>side note: one of us is italian, moved here recently and the other has lived in italy. there are many reasons why canada is in the ice age of the restaurant industry. servers are too entitled and feel too priviledged. i feel sorry for the kitchen staff that do their job and for the servers who kick asses. but from experience, canada has a long way to go in terms of their restaurant food & service culture.

I tried Bufala this summer. I have been back at least twice. In my opinion Bufala is one of the best of Kerrisdale's dining options. Just look at this presentation. While the Italian Burrata is as beautiful in the mouth as it is on the plate, Bufala excels in its pizzas. The pesto and ricotta with pine nuts is a must try.
Every Day Is A Food Day
For my last Dine Out Vancouver Festival of 2016, I checked out Bufala in Kerrisdale with MH and MW. They offered a lunch menu for $20 for two courses or $25 for three courses. Since the lunch price is cheaper than dinner for the same menu items, it was a better deal to visit at lunch. They didn’t take reservations for Dine Out, but the restaurant wasn’t super busy on a Saturday, so we got a seat right away.
Karen
The pizza is really good and you'll end up eating way too much. The one dish that was unique was the arugula salad with grapefruit and pecorino. Ah that was quite tasty and I'd probably get it again. My favourite pizza was the margherita.
MS.CHUBBS
A little pricey for lunch, and even more so for gourmet pizza, but with the ingredients they use I would say it’s justifiable. My only complaint was for the pizza crust itself, both DK and I found it rather chewy – not the good type, as if it were underdone. Leoparding on them was basically nonexistent, depriving us of that extra flavour of burnt crust, it didn’t do so well into holding up the wet ingredients. Our server for that day also gave us a ‘I don’t care about you’ vibe, as we had to wave her down a few times for water, and there seemed to be no smile or explanation as plates were just placed onto our table.<br/><br/>Maybe I just got the short-end of the straw that day, but I’m feeling torn about Bufala. Unless some off-chance I would be in the area, craving for pizza because the ingredients does make me want to come back, but the service along with execution is telling me no.
Drunken Noms
It was Drunken Master’s birthday a couple of weeks ago, and although he was busy soaking up the sun with Little Bunny in Hawaii the day of his actual birthday, he made sure to plan some drinking festivities to celebrate upon his return. Unfortunately I was feeling like a huge lazy bum the night of the celebrations, and so instead of going I ordered in pizza and watched netflix in my sweats. Yeah. Worst friend ever. Having said that, he apparently remembers absolutely none of the night, including my texts apologizing for not coming, so I really could have just lied and said I was there and he would have been none the wiser.

Our initial visit was, from the service, to great Campari cocktails and delicious food. We both had that first evening a Campari cocktail (I chose a Bicicletta and Curtis had a Negroni), shared a Kale Cesar Salad, a Finocchiona pizza and the Basil Panna cotta. The Kale Cesar is addictive, fresh, you can pick up the anchovy flavour and we basically fought over it. When the pizza arrived at our table, we were met with a welcoming aroma of spices. The dough has a sourdough tang and is perfectly crusty. I debated whether or not the crust or middle is my favourite. The server brings over oils, from chili, Parmesan, ham and herb, to sprinkle over your pizza for added flavour or to dip your crust in. We chose to do both and weren’t disappointed with any.

The pizza at Bufala tastes absolutely splendid, having a bite to eat there is always a nice treat. I always see people waiting in line for dinner whenever I walk by, I never knew what all the fuss was all about. But one day, my friend and I were curious and decided to have lunch there... The pizza freaking blew my MIND!!!! The interior design isn't bad either, I love how they have pizza boards on the walls. It's also nice how they give you a bunch of pizza oils with your pizza, the service is welcoming as well.

Food: refreshing and unique! One of the best pizza crust I've had. Thin, fluffy and flaky. <br/><br/>Service: all the staff were friendly and very helpful in providing recommendations<br/><br/>Repeat? Yep!

Came for dinner at about 6:30 on a Thursday and were seated right away. Our server was friendly and helpful with the menu. Her recommendations were perfect and we enjoyed the kale salad, the Calabria pizza and the green peas and ham pizza. The green pea pizza was unexpected but turned out to be our favourite. They also have home made infused oils to sprinkle on the crusts which were a nice touch. Will be back!

Bufala has landed on the West Side with a bang!...There are so many things to like about Bufala, from its clean lines, open kitchen and buzzing atmosphere to a straight ahead menu—well beyond pizza—that’s packed with creativity.

Finocchiona. So good, must get!

Oxtail?. The oxtail & kale pizza was mostly roasted onions & kale. It was very spicy and one could not taste the oxtail let alone see any. Huge profit margin at this pizza restaurant.<br/>Service was very average.<br/>Restaurant was very noisy and busy. So I guess some people like this restaurant for now.

Yes I like the restaurant. Great for an early dinner and simple, well made fare. BUT yesterday we were there and got the 'Bums Rush' eat quickly and leave treatment. Worst I have ever had in a restaurant. Plates disappeared off the table during the last mouthful. I even had to get a dish back to spit out the pit of the last olive I was eating. The message was clear. Hurry and leave so I can get to mu next group at this table. Puts a bad tone to such a good restaurant. My message, Just slow down a little and let us finish before we are shown the door. Oh and the bill was on the table before we even finished. No that is is not efficient. It's rude.

Bad service. Really disappointed with the service. Just go here to eat or try calling to have a take out pizza and you will understand. We live in a busy world today and try to relax after a long days work. If I want to have to come in to make a order because they won't take order by phone, then u might as well have gone out to dine.

It’s hard to nab a table at Kerrisdale’s new Pizzeria Bufala but, when you do, you’ll notice something crucial: they facilitate your access to some pretty amazing food. The latest from the team behind Gastown's Wildebeest, Bufala (get it?) is a homey-but-elegant take on Italian cuisine. Starters and share plates shine. Try the sausage and Humboldt squid ($12)—an unusual pairing tumbling over a colourful chopped salad of eggplant, fennel and pepper.

Great Pizza- My go to gourmet pizza place -BUT BAD SERVICE. I am a true fan of Bufala, I've been to this pizza place at least 5 times, each time I bring back a new group of friends and family because they want to know why I rave about it so much. My usual pizza's are the: Funghi (BEST MUSHROOM PIZZA EVER- not soggy, and perfectly paired with the cheese and watercress), and Pesto Ricotta! <br/>The restaurant has a very relaxed vibe, kid friendly, and the service is ok.<br/><br/>However...<br/>This past Saturday (March 7th, 2015), I had a very unpleasant and off-putting experience.<br/><br/>When we arrived we were greeted, seated, and served by a wonderful gentleman that took care of our questions and requests very well. ( One of my aunts does not eat onions or garlic so we requested we have the pesto served on the side for the pesto ricotta pizza- he was very accommodating.) We also tried the feature of the day- Parmesan Soufflé-recommended by the gentleman-and it was delicious.<br/>The servers checked up on us periodically. Everything was great up until we paid our bill. <br/><br/>My aunt (visiting from HongKong) was treating, she paid with five 2001 series $10 bills (1st edition of the dark purple paper notes). The original gentleman took our payment and walked away (we did not ask for change). We sat for another 5 mins waiting for the other guest to use the restroom, when a female server walked over with our payment and said: "we cannot accept this payment because these bills are fake!" (She was also holding a 2004-2006 $5 bill series to use as proof to compare with me.) <br/>I asked to see examine the bills and I noted the security feature of the 2001 series and told her these are not fake bills. (Reference: <br/>http://www.bankofcanada.ca/banknotes/bank-note-series/canadian-journey/)<br/>As she was waving the 2004 $5 bill she said the $10's are fake because it doesn’t have the metallic stripe, ghost image and puzzled number.<br/>I replied with: "I work for the bank and I know for a fact these notes are real, infact we obtained it from the bank and I'm sure they will accept it if we took it back. My notes does not have the same security features because it's the series before that, it has raised ink for "Bank of Canada Banque du Canada", shiny gold maple leaves, hidden number, and raised ink on the 10 (right hand bottom corner). <br/>She was still hesitant and insisted that it was "FAKE", so I said "It's fine, I will replace those notes with $50 (polymer) note, and I'll take it back to the bank."<br/><br/>When we left, they still said "thank you for coming in, enjoy your day ladies!"<br/><br/>But I was leaving with a bad taste in my mouth. I understand from a business perspective you do not want to be scammed and checking notes from customers is standard protocol. But if the staff was properly trained, the lady did not identify herself as the manager, nor did she excuse me from my table to speak to me at the till about the incident. You should never embarrass someone in front of their guest, on top of that you should NEVER accuse someone of using counterfeit bills. She should've worded her sentence "sorry we no longer accept old notes, do you have another form of payment that is in circulation?" <br/>Besides, any establishment that comes into contact with counterfeit bills should notify the police, not give the bills back to the person. (I can see why they did not do that, to dissatisfy me, but the truth would've been shown by the police that the bills are not counterfeit). ALSO with technology these days, any staff member could've pulled out their phones and googled Bank of Canada's website to read up on the fact the bills presented were not counterfeit. <br/><br/>I strongly believe this was poor handling of the situation, and I deserve an apology. I was really disappointed and my relatives visiting from HongKong had their day ruined as well. <br/><br/>Bufala's pizza are amazing but the staff should be properly educated on customer communication as well as loss prevention/ monetary note examinations!

For me, as long as the tomato base is awesome, I could eat the pizza naked. Not clothing naked. But topping naked. Meaning no toppings :P And Bufala nailed that sauce! Everything else on top of it was a bonus.

Nice to have good pizza in the hood. The first couple of times we went we ordered way too much food wanting to try everything. We have now narrowed it down to an appetizer, usually the kale ceasar salad and/or meatballs, a margherita pizza and a drink each. I like simple. The simpler pizzas are tasty, I find the mushroom pizza, usually my favorite, too rich, it is a white pizza and the bechamel is too rich for me. The service is great and friendly, go early or late to avoid the rush. The pizza is good, really good, it is not as good as Nicli but for a non wood oven pizza I don't think there is better. The sauces and cheeses are not overwhelming and the dough is just chewy enough. As the best restaurant in the hood and as pizza lovers we love the restaurant and what it brings to the neighborhood.

When a restaurant can't get out of its own way.... There are myriad reasons why restaurants fail, and quite honestly, Bufala might not be one of them. That remains to be seen.<br/>However, it's frustrating when a restaurant can't get out of its own way.<br/>At first Bufala flat out refused any take out business.....not a great way to ingratiate themselves with the community they serve....apparently this pizza place was just too busy. I'm sure their accountant may disagree.<br/>But wait.....<br/>Now if you want take out they will ask, tersely I might add, that you come down, order in person, wait, have a glass of wine (ya, ok then!) and THEN take your pizza home....because they won't take the order on the phone.<br/><br/>It almost doesn't matter how good their food is, because the most basic tenet of customer service has yet to occur to them.... Which is......You cannot annoy people into liking you!<br/>So, if you want to experience their cuisine just remember not to call them on the phone !!<br/>But you can call any other pizza place in North America and they'll be thrilled to take your order!<br/><br/><br/>-----29 Oct, 2014-----<br/><br/>I like it BUT.... Absolutely ridiculous that as a neighborhood pizzeria they don't offer take out!!

Almost Good But No Cigar.. Went there the second week it was open. The greeter had no time to be pleasant and had loads of attitude, the seating is unbelievably cramped in a communal style and waiters are bumping into you every few minutes. We ordered a Margarita and a blonde pea pizza. Both were bland but the pea which sounded good was a disappointment having very little flavor. The crusts are nice and chewy but the bottoms are covered in excess of cornmeal which gives the feeling of gravel. Live in Kerrisdale but will go to Commercial drive for a better experience and product. Too bad.

Scrumptious. We dined here for a business lunch and I was blown away. From the excellent staff service, flavorful food, and the fresh thin-crust pizzas were spectacular. We started with Kale Caesar (wow!) and Arugula & Grapefruit salads to start, and then shared Funghi, Bacon & Clam, and Finocchiona (my favourite). Amazing!<br/><br/>The owner states there is a dinner line up from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm. The restaurant does not provide take-away service.

. Strange menus selection- from 6 ultra high end items to 6 pizza choices.......weird mix. Pizza was good nice fresh tomatoes<br/>Didn't like watching person making pizza - stretching dough about 3" in front of his face - breathing all over the dough?<br/>Be careful pulling your bill out of the very small /used anchovy tin- you could cut yourself on those shape edges......

Loving the Oxtail and Kale pizza! The oxtail if very flavourful and tender. I paired it with Campari & Italian Vermouth with Proseco which is quite a refreshing cocktail. I've tried the Fungi Pizza as well and that is divine with hints of Truffle. Definitely a unique pizza dining experience.

Not just a pizza joint. I've been here several times now as it is close to home. Despite one off night, I can highly recommend Bufala. The pizza is great but I encourage you to try their 1st plates also. If you're a fan of gnocchi, you must try their rendition!

Prepare to wait for a long time. Restaurant gets hot.. Long time west side and Kerrisdale resident. Visited the old coffee, ice cream and mac and cheese vendors in the same location. Told that the wait would only be 10 minutes at approximately 8pm at night. We waited for 20 minutes and we were told that our table was almost ready. Another 10 minutes later, the table wasn't ready and by 8:30, we decided to leave. We noticed other less patient patrons leave for White Spot (not really a direct substitute) instead of waiting. The restaurant can get hot on the inside especially in the summer and with their pizza oven going full tilt.<br/><br/>To be fair, the bartender promptly asked if they could assist us with drinks while we were waiting and the manager appeared to be truly apologetic. That said, I noticed people who had ordered before we got to the restaurant were waiting for their food when we decided to leave. You need to be patient to eat here and we were too hungry to wait any longer.

In all, I highly recommend Bufala to anyone who wants a memorable pizza and cocktails experience. Meatballs is on my list of what to order next time as when we were leaving, I spotted a kid enjoying them by the door… till next time.

The service was very good, very attentive. The design of the restaurant is modern yet not overwhelming. A lot of wood elements tied in with marble. There are a good amount of tables and seats. Nice and cozy place for innovative pizza with excellent service

It’s hard to nab a table at Kerrisdale’s new Pizzeria Bufala but, when you do, you’ll notice two things: 1) they’re mostly communal; and 2) they facilitate your access to some pretty amazing food. Arugula and grapefruit salad ($11) is light and peppery, while the kale Caesar ($11) comes with thick slices of house-smoked bacon. Burrata with veal tongue is a melt-in-your-mouth must-try ($14), and we also liked the Finocchiona pizza ($15), which aligns fennel sausage, castelvetrano olives and caramelized onions 'neath generous smoked provolone, plus a side of infused oils (parmesan and smoked ham join the usual chili). Family-friendly and lively, here's a herd you’ll want to join. —Adrienne Matei Bufala, 5395

The ingredients are fresh, mostly made-in-house or sourced ethically and locally. What’s new right? It will certainly become a local favorite that’s for sure, especially as it is considering opening for brunch service. For me, it reminded me of the next Ask For Luigi… except it’s opened everyday.

Bufula is fortunate to have Josh Pape at the helm of its bar program. Pape has won numerous accolades for his work in many great Vancouver restaurants and is doing great things now at Bufula. The cocktail list is succinct, with only a handful of classic aperitif cocktails and a few original cocktails. My friend and I both sampled from the original cocktail list.

The menu is focused on pizza, with a handful of simple Italian inspired appetizers like gnocchi, bruschetta, etc. We started with the grissini. This three bread sticks wrapped in prosciutto, drizzled with extra virgin olive oil and sea salt. The bread stick are crunchy, and the prosciutto is tender and nicely cured.  The olive oil was fruity and slightly peppery. This was followed by the meatball appetizer. This is three meatballs, covered in fresh crushed tomatoes and ricotta, and dressed with fresh basil leaves, served in a small cast iron skillet.  It comes with three crostini that have been baked and brushed with garlic and extra virgin olive oi

Here’s a rundown of some great new additions to the city’s Neapolitan pizzeria roster, as well as older Vancouver favorites. Pizzeria Bufala – If you drive along Arbutus Street by Point Grey High School on a weekend evening, you’ll see line-ups out the door of this new restaurant...The pizza crust is chewy and firm enough to fold, and hold a wide variety of toppings (peas & taleggio cheese!) without collapsing. If you like flavored oils, you can be choose from house-infused chili, smoked ham or other variations to drizzle on your tasty crust.
