Review Faubourg Vancouver - Vancouver

Birthday Brunch goals! ♥️ During my Vancouver birthday trip, I wanted to do everything that I love. I found this cafe on Google and added it to my checklist. This cafe has welcoming ambiance and good food to lift up your mood. They have freshly bake breads which are truly amazing and that’s the best part as we could make our own Sandwich! I don’t think my birthday morning will be as good without visiting this place! If you’re in Vancouver, this place is a MUST visit! We ordered: • Salted Pretzel • Caramel Macchiato • Make your own Sandwich • Mocha Ambiance: 10/10 Staff: 10/10 Food: 10/10

I went there today after work around 4:30pm and decided to treat myself for a ham and cheese croissant. Only one left on the display and I asked the cashier to warm it up for me. I tried croissants at many difference place and for me this is one of the worst. Texture wise was very poor, looked like store bought croissant. Very crumbly however it has the very generous fillings with cheese inside but for me it was way too overpowering. A bit disappointed and I don’t think am coming back anytime soon.

Great little coffee shop with a nice outdoor space. Located across from the art gallery. Beautiful decor inside with plenty of seating. Americano was strong, the way I like it. Prices are a little high. $5.35 for the almond croissant.

Very delicious and reasonably priced. We had a great breakfast here. They are the friendliest people and very helpful in finding something you’ll enjoy. The place is clean, nicely decorated, and very tasty.

4.5 - A cozy little French Cafe with a great selection of fresh and creatively made pastries and sandwiches. We come here quite a bit. Our usuals are the double chocolate pistachio croissant and the vegetarian spinach and feta croissant and we love them both. Their Americanos could be slightly better, but that's because I tend to like my coffee quite strong, so usually I get my Americano with an extra shot of espresso, I find the single to be a little watery for me. The atmosphere and environment is really lovely and tastefully decorated and all the windows gives you a cozy place to sit, observe and just Be. I find the staff varies, as sometimes when we walk in there's a warm and attentive friendly greeting and sometimes there isn't. There's also a great space outside to sit if you enjoy a nice chilly morning with your coffee cup and pastry watching the locals walk by :)

The macaroons were delicious and went so well with the coffee!😁 It was a very quiet, trendy café ✨ The cakes and bread looked great too, so I'd definitely go back!✨

Visited Faubourg today and was very disappointed by the food. There was a French fella who helped me and he was really nice and friendly, which is why I went 3 stars. The quality of the food was really low compared to other bakeries in Vancouver.

Delicious beverages and mousse cakes, and very cute cafe vibe! The service wasn’t too friendly. The menu had a good amount of variety and our lavender rooibus tea was amazing.

My friends and I love coming to your kerrisdale location. It is definitely our go to meeting place. The staff is always so welcoming, and we love seeing them. The smell of the oven, baking the delicious pastries and bread, the delicious sandwiches made on mini baguettes, my mouth waters just thinking about it. It is truly our happy place!!!!!❤️

The macaron-making class was incredible and surpassed my expectations. Ricardo clearly explained and demonstrated the process, and then allowed the participants to try each step ourselves. He also patiently answered all of our questions, and made us feel very comfortable. I would highly recommend this class to anyone who is curious about how macarons are made and is looking for a fun activity in Vancouver.

Je suis francaise and this is my absolute favorite croissant place in Vancouver, a smidgeon ahead of Thomas Haas and Plaisir Sucre. Le Faubourg was started by a Parisian patissier and it's all amazing, but the Pistachio Croissants are to die for!!!
Lynda Lim
The pastries are good but the staff are not so welcoming. Especially the lady making the coffee, no eye contact and not even smiling. It seems like she doesn't like to work there
Darlene Karimi
They have the best quality and flavor mix of macaroons ...that melt in your mouth.. Yum..try thier exallant coffee drinks.and great selection of teas......
Laure Can
Tried opera and lemon tart not good at all, didn't find any taste from France.
John Anthony MacGregor
The best Macarons and croissants in Vancouver!
Laura Kaario
Surprisingly sh*t coffee. Very weak and tastes strongly of coffee filter. LOOKS like a nice place that should have great coffee....

I signed up on their website for the macaron classes, but I never received the confirmation email that is supposed to come within 24hr hours. I waited another 24hrs and still no email so I sent an a message through the contact page on their website and waited another 48hrs for a response. Four days passed total and I didn't get any kind of response so I called them, the person who answered the phone didn't know about the classes and said a manager would call me back. Never got a call back, never got to take the class. This was in January and took about a week and I missed the date that I had originally signed up for. I don't know if they still offer the classes, but at this point I can't say I care enough to find out.

It's one of my happy places in Vancouver - good coffee, freshly baked delish breads and pastries, excellent service

Excellent place for coffee. Love it. Bakery is also great.

Best place in Vancouver! Go to all 3 locations and love them all!

Never disappoints.......perfect location for quick and delicious city centre lunch in Downtown Vancouver !

By far the best Croissants and Coffee we had in Vancouver. Feels like Paris. Great job!

This is a very nice place to sit and relax over a latte and a treat.

This is a French cafe/patisserie with a couple of locations in Vancouver. I've previously been to their Kerrisdale location and have recently checked out their Downtown store, which is located right by the Vancouver Art Gallery. Their menu consists of pastries, cakes, drinks, and various breakfast/lunch fare. I had their Double Baked Milk Chocolate Hazelnut Croissant, Lemon Tart, Tiramisu, as well as an Almond Croissant for my mom. The food was good; the prices are a tad on the higher side but nothing outrageous. All in all, this is a decent joint for some tasty French treats.

Double Baked Milk Chocolate Hazelnut Croissant ($5.50):
4/5
The croissant was filled with a chocolatey paste, and was topped with a drizzle of milk chocolate as well as hazelnuts. It was crispy and had a great buttery flavour. The chocolate provided a nice sweetness and the hazelnuts a great crunch; unfortunately, I did find some of the nuts to be a little stale.

Lemon Tart ($6.95):
4/5
This consisted of a tart shell filled with lemon curd and vanilla, and is finished with pearl sugar. The lemon curd was smooth and creamy, with a fantastic tanginess; I did find the vanilla to be a bit gummy and lacking in flavour. The pearl sugar provided a great bit of texture. The crust was tender; I did find it to be a bit soggy, however.

Tiramisu ($6.95):
4/5
This consisted of a sponge cake topped with marscapone cream. The cream had a great fragrance of coffee, and a perfect bittersweet flavour. The cake on the bottom was a bit on the dry side.

Almond Croissant ($4.95):
N/A

Summary:
Food: 4/5
Price: 3.5/5
Service: N/A
Overall: 4/5
Recommendations: Double Baked Milk Chocolate Hazelnut Croissant, Lemon Tart, Tiramisu

The chocolate dessert and lemon tart are divine....just the right tartness. The macarons are only ok so pass on them and stick to their other desserts.
Every Day Is A Food Day
Disclosure: All food and beverages were complimentary as part of a media tasting, but all opinions are my own. For a limited time, you will be able to get a taste of the lavvender field of Provence France at Faubourg. Faubourg has launched their summer lavender menu which features products including lavender earl grey macarons, lavender and strawberry pastries, lavender mixed berry smoothies, lavender lattes, lavender tea lattes, blueberry and lavender chaussons, and more. The menu is already available now and will be available until early to mid September.

Very nice, very up to date cafe near the Fairmount hotel. Ordered a blueberry tart and truly loved it. I could definitely come here a few more times. That being said, it closes very early (7PM) and the waiters seemed a bit rude.

Yum to the lavender and Early grey macaron. What a delightful texture. Not hollow and not chewy like gum. Just a delicate hint of lavender.
The black decaf Americano was ok.
It’s better next door at Bellaggios if truth be told, just more of a robust bean I guess.

I took out my food and drink but the atmosphere could have been a little bit more Parisian ! It’s just another cafe inside, nothing especially Parisian.
A shot of France could easily be Injected into the ambience. It’s a lot of Money to pay for a beautiful cake creation with absolutely no atmosphere.

If you are out for a leisurely stroll and want to stop for some desserts - this is a great spot to perch yourself on the patio and do so.

We personally think that both the pastries and beverages could have some improvements.

Total French cuisine Paris experience! From the great staff to the Devine pastry’s and treats! As well as the yummy coffee and tea options totally recommend!

Pastries, (almost all I have tried) were beautiful! But coffee was moderate ... As I am a sweet lover, this cafe has been there, on my favorite list ... staff are ok but not very nice and friendly

The Faubourg Coffee Shop is located on Hornby Street downtown Vancouver, which is right across the street from Vancouver Arts Gallery. My friends took me to there couple times to try a different kind of desserts. The place is nice quiet. The servers were friendly and helpful. The desserts look great and have different presentation. They all tasted different from each other. I love this place.

We walked by Faubourg on Hornby Street and saw all the delicious pastries with beautiful presentations. We were very excited to try some and order a beverage.

We ordered a dish of afternoon tea trio. They were matcha black sesame, caramel rooibos torte and chai cake. We also ordered an iced chocolate milk. When we drank the iced chocolate milk, it tasted like the Dairyland chocolate milk or worse. We felt this iced chocolate milk was just bland that it was not strong enough like the one I had at Thomas Haas. We were not sure if the ice made the chocolate milk bland or worse, but the flavour was not strong enough. It definitely lost some marks on the flavour. We tried all three pieces of cakes. All of them had great presentation and looked beautiful, but we only tasted the sweet flavour but nothing else. Comparing these cakes or pastries from Faubourg with ones I had at Ganache Patisserie, Ganache's were definitely a winner!

I personally feel that both the beverage and pastries that I tried could have a lot of improvements; and it would be a good idea to go to the competitors and try their beverages and pastries in order to stay competitive in the market.

○good service
○good food / good dessert / not a fan of their drinks though
○family friendly
○average price
○if I had to choose 1 dish: ham and cheese croissant
○would i go back? Yes

Not great but pretty dam good cakes! The flavours were clearly expressed and tasted natural. There was nice harmony, balance amd contrast in the flavours. My new fav place for cake. Their regular croissants are pretty tasty also!
Karen
My favourite place to get croissants and all the indulgences that a bakery offers. Their cappuccino and sandwiches are delicious. Once in a while I get some macarons or other desserts and they never disappoint. Try the pistachio croissant or pane au chocolat!

Other people might say chicken or rooster, but phoenix just sounds so much more magical. This year is supposed to be a good one for Dragons, and I tried to start it off busy, just the way I like it. Friday night, had what could be considered a small Lunar New Year party in my Basement, and we didn’t split until way past midnight.
Froyofreak
This is not my favorite location as it is super busy and the staffs aren't very friendly. The desserts are just as good as elsewhere though! Try the macarons, they do them real good! Their pastries are kind of meh, but their "cakes" are all really well done and fabulous!

Pictured: gold flaked beauty from Faubourg - a seasonal weekend special citrus tart. Overall, the pastries, cakes and tarts are quite good and they constantly change up their offerings depending on the season and festivities. I also really like their signature macaron - passionfruit and white chocolate. The only disappointment at the Faubourg cafes is the coffee - it is not very good and I’ve ordered different things here from an americano, to their cappuccino and lattes and they have just lacked something - maybe it’s the coffee beans they are using. However, do go if you’re looking to pick up a sweet treat!

A friend invited us for coffee here at Faubourg just across from the Vancouver Art Gallery. It is a shop specializing in French pastries, desserts and breads. The shop is quite large with plenty of seating inside. It looked very clean and elegant They also have a large patio outside too. All their pastries are on display while you line up to order from the cashier. All their pastries looked very fabulous and the prices were very reasonable too.

Faubourg Paris is simply known in Vancouver for their Parisian gourmet desserts in an elegant setting. With three locations in Vancouver (Kerrisdale, Downtown and Park Royal), you can easily find a sweet treat at Faubourg to satisfy your craving. Their tasty offerings include macarons, cakes, signature pastries, viennoiserie, as well as bread and sandwiches.

I decided to visit Faubourg again to give their pastry a try. Their selection was somewhat limited compared to Thierry's. My friend and I were still able to pick some that interested us, however.

Lemon Tart: rich lemon curd on top of vanilla milky foam all held inside a tart shell. The lemon curd was nicely balanced by the vanilla layer underneath. And with the pearl sugar garnished on the side, it wasn't too sour. Besides balancing the strong lemon flavour, however; the vanilla foam didn't have much of a taste to it and was actually a bit boring to eat on its own. The tart itself was very solid, but given the round shape of the cake and the shell encasing it, it was quite hard to cut into. I much prefer the triangular pie shape where the crust didn't surround the sides; it just makes eating it a lot neater. The round shape made it difficult and it was hard to get a nice forkful of all the layers together. My favourite part was actually the chocolate piece placed on top. I might consider trying their chocolate cakes next.

Croissant Pudding: it's a bouncy muffin! It didn't remind my friend or I of a croissant at all. There is almost no resemblance. It was really airy, mushy, and... jiggly? I don't really know what more I could say... it's a bouncy muffin.

Faubourg Paris is an established French pastry café that has two locations; one in 769 Hornby St and the other 792 Main St (Park Royal South). Faubourg offers French bread, pastry, cakes, and of course, macarons.

Taste: their macarons are very light and airy; unlike Thierry's that are chewier and thick. The shell holds, although may be slightly crumbly, and their filling is moderate.

The flavours I got were, from left to right, tahitian vanilla bean, Faubourg signature, dark chocolate, hazelnut, strawberry black pepper, cappuccino, and pistachio (the two remaining macarons were repeating flavours). I thought the flavours were all good, but nothing exceptional, they're all moderate classics.

On an aesthetic level, Faubourg probably has the prettiest macarons I've ever seen.
Alpaca Lunch
As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by the colourful display of macarons. They looked so lovely that we just had to get some. I decided on a lavender earl grey macaron and a jasmine tea macaron ($2 each). The macarons were kind of small for the price, but I love the chewy texture of these dainty little morsels. The flavours were true and strong, but maybe a touch too sweet and floral for my taste.

I had a tough time deciding between cakes, but ended up choosing the mille feuille ($5.60) simply because it was so pleasing on the eyes. The description next to cake was "flavoured mousse nestled in between light, crisp and buttery puff pastry, topped with shantilly." I was unaware that it comes in two varieties: banana vanilla or gianduja vanilla and my server didn't mention anything, so I thought it was going to be a regular Bavarian cream tasting mille feuille. I was pleasantly surprised with sweet banana mousse and caramel flavoured shantilly. The flavour of the caramel complimented the banana very well. I love that it was just sweet enough and not too heavy.

My mille feuille was good, but after tasting KitKat's green tea passion fruit mousse, I totally regretted not getting that cake instead. Now that it’s officially summer in Vancouver, it’s time to beat the heat and cool down with a sweet treat. Best known for its delicious macarons and pastries, the Vancouver-based patisserie Faubourg recently introduced a new range of handcrafted gourmet ice creams and sorbets. Now in its second year of making delicious frozen desserts in-house, Faubourg has expanded its offering beyond basic flavours, offering into an exotic array of ice cream and sorbet recipes which includes pairings of fresh tropical fruit, nuts and spices.

I went there for dessert with my friend after lunch at miku. We tried ice Caramel macchiato (tasteless); lavender earl grey / signature macaroon ( worst macaroon ever/ extremely sweet); matcha tart (disappointed / the server highly recommended ) ... too noisy to chat.
J-doug131
I love this cafe and go there every time I'm in town and shopping downtown. Ordering my mocha is a must and I leave with a box of their macarons. Earl grey macarons are the best! I love their pastries too - fancy croissants!

Whilst walking around downtown on a rainy day with a couple of friends a month or so ago, we happened to stroll past Faubourg. Though I had already eaten a large meal, I decided to go in to the bakery "just to look". Right when I walked in, the atmosphere was very welcoming. I was then greeted by very friendly employees who all seemed to have french accents. As I started to look around, immediately, my eyes were drawn to the macarons. I just had to get a few. I've had many macarons in the past and these were by far some of the best I've ever had. There were many unique flavours and I had a hard time choosing just three, but somehow I did. I'll definitely be back as soon as I can!

The pastry of the month appealed to me because the top consisted of a layer of panna cotta (which is one of my favorite desserts) but it wasn't particularly special. The macarons however, were a huge disappointment! They were tiny and crumbly. My first bite into the macaron cracked both the top and bottom shells (which were hollow) and the filling was a bit bland. I would recommend soirette for macarons.
Constant Cravings
Beverly the Beaver is an apple and maple mousse cake with a pecan dacquoise. I liked this more than the Tiramisu due to the sweet flavour from the soft apples and the occasional crunch from the pecans. However, it just looked better than it tasted.

Faubourg is a cute French patisserie with all you desire to fulfill your sweet craving. Great desserts, especially fond of the special features (attached is the strawberry shortcake white chocolate mousse thy featured on my birthday). They are also great for high tea. Make sure you make reservations for that though for they tend to fill up quickly.
Nosh And Nibble
Happy Sunday everyone! For those who keep up with the French baking times, yesterday on March 20th was Macaron Day. Some bakeries decided to feature special flavours to commemorate the event, and Faubourg took it to the next level. Macarons were half price and Faubourg would match proceeds to make a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society. Read on to see how these tasted on one of the busiest days of the year. Food: Team Tastic was the first one through the doors at 7AM and we ordered every flavour of macaron available from the get-go. This included: Jasmine Tea, Grape, Lavender Earl Grey, Salted Butter Caramel, Tahitian Vanilla, Signature Faubourg, Strawberry Black Pepper, Cappuccino, Raspberry Rose, Dark Chocolate Macarons. Macarons everywhere. Yes there were a ton of macarons, but not all of them were happy dreams. My top 3 go to the Raspberry Rose, the Signature Faubourg, and the Cappucino . Both the Raspberry Rose and the Signature Faubourg (lemon tart-esque) came with a sour citrus burst in their filling which was a nice counter to the sweetness. In addition, Cappucino with its bitter coffee essence also held its own and afterwards my mouth tasted just like the coffee I also ordered. Coffee Dark Roast The coffee was a standard dark roast and helped wake me up at such an early hour for macarons. This coffee goes well with a side of The Province. While I think it’s hard to hate macarons, if I had to choose some bottom feeders I would elect the Dark Chocolate and the Strawberry Black Pepper for that honour. The Dark Chocolate was too sweet for my poor teeth so I’d recommend that for someone with an extreme sweet tooth. I didn’t taste much of the black pepper in the strawberry and I didn’t understand how the combination was supposed to work. I’ll need more research but in the heat of the moment, these were a “meh” compared to the other fantastic flavours. Brittle Macarons For what it’s worth, these macarons are quite brittle . Seen above, the green Jasm
Long Live Feasts
I chose Faubourg this afternoon because I wanted to see if they had the galette des rois available, or in my case, a galette de prince (since it was just for myself). Unfortunately, I would have to wait an hour for it to be made so I opted for the mille-feuille. It is such a striking pastry, I always find myself entranced by its presentation...

Was in Vancouver for four days and I had breakfast here for three of them. Amazing pastries - the croissants are some if the best I've ever tried. Excellent service - my preschool aged daughter accidentally spilled her hot chocolate everywhere. The owner cleaned it up and offered a new one with no charge. We thought this was very understanding and kind of him.
I will be returning on my next trip to Vancouver.

They treat they're employees poorly.. The worst business ever. I work here and all the management only want your money, avoid giving any business here. Believe me.
Cashmericlullaby
What is service? Only thing that I got was horrendous service.... I had asked a young lady to assist me with the macarons but she totally ignored me the first time and when I finally got her attention, she answered with a very snobby attitude. I didn't know that we're supposed to order the macarons two days in advance. Every time that I had visited, I was able to get the macarons without "making a reservation". I'm fine with having to order in advance (which I probably won't anyways) but not fine with how she told me that I can't buy the macarons without much explanation until I asked why.
Dilohadetto
Faubourg Hornby. Cappuccino was horrible.... burnt would be the flavour characteristic.... If you cant do the basics and make good coffee you cant have the rest of my business.
Johnny
Horrible hot chocolate & Slow service. Do not order the hot chocolate from this place, taste like water down milk. we had them remade because of the same complain. No improvement on the second time.

You will be better off getting one from 7-eleven or any fast food restaurant.
Ak
The service was terrible, everybody had to have a seat with dishes & mess left on table or we had to clean a table ourself since nobody at the cafe does that. I ordered panini, outside was crispy but inside stuffing and shredded cheese were not even melted at all and cold. So, I had to ask to heat it up and a girl who was beside the girl who take my panini to warm up just laughed at it... And of course the panini was way over crispy when it was back on my table and became like a cracker... Bunch of girls were working at that time but it seems that they just couldn't handle the customers at all. Sweets looked nice but I totally don't recommend to eat panini there...

Mixed feelings for Faubourg. Their macarons can be a hit or miss. Sometimes they are as soft as clouds while other times it feels like I'm munching on chips. Aside from the inconsistency of the texture of the macarons, I feel that Faubourg has some of the best flavours for macarons! Other than their macarons, I'm not too big a fan of their other pastries. Or that may be because I've only had them quite late in the day. The croissants become rather dry as the day progresses.
Jelly
Bad service. The staffs I interacted with were unkind and the baked goods weren't that great either.
Karen Sickles
Service is terrible once you've paid. Out of napkins at the front, the person behind the counter closest couldn't be bothered to help and sent me to the cashier where I waited again until they weren't busy, only to be ignored until I had to raise my voice to get someone's attention. Told them I just wanted to wipe off a table. They then ran over to my table and proceeded to SPRAY the table with cleaning fluid with my food and coffee ON IT!! I understand busy, but thoughtlessness, I don't.
Lucinda K
Great coffee and desserts. The coffee here was great. I ordered the lemon tart, which was just amazing. Highly recommend! Also tried the Chocolate croissant, which was nice, but pretty average..

A friend and I visited Faubourg today looking forward to delicious French macarons and coffee. Interestingly the coffee, which the French are not renowned for, was excellent, I would go back again just for the coffee. However, unfortunately, the focal point of the afternoon — the macarons — were disappointing. They were inconsistent, some dry and flakey, some hard and chewy, most wanting in flavour.

I would return for a coffee but, unfortunately, I doubt I would try the macarons again.

Here is more on the Paris feel: movie the on wall, big mirror inside, table outside, big widow and especially golden color chair.

Macarons were bad. Today was my first time visited the store
I bought a box of 9 macarons
The Macarons tasted like leftover
The shells are really stiff
Not Impressed!

Delicious!. Tried their lemon tart and vanilla mille-feuille. Both delicious. The staff told us there will be another location opening up in park royal in north shore.
Cake N Pie
The macarons are better than their other location. Not perfect but at least not stale. The decor and interior is very elegant. Nice place to have some afternoon tea.

Not Impressed. The food and pastries are not as good as the location in Kerrisdale. The paninis are not as good, the pastries are not as good. I loved everything at the Kerrisdale location and when I saw the grand opening of this location, I was really excited, I first came by for lunch, had a beef panini and it was quite sour tasting and the beef was just overpowered by the tomato sauce, not impressed, so bad to the point where I didn't even want to take another bite. I had the tirumisu and the biscuit was a bit stale and not crispy, the caramel taste of the month pastry was quite horrible, it had little caramel flavor and the flavor was really off! The flavors are not as memorable as the other location. Getting pastries at the other location, I would finish off every bite, and every bite tastes like heaven. The service is really bad at both location, they don't really care, they just want to get you out asap and are not pleasant, they order you to go where they want you to in line. They should do something about the consistency of the food btw the 2 locations and improve on their customer service.
Dreaming In Foie Gras
First time visiting the Park Royal location. Ive also been to the 2 other locations and they’re all very pretty and girly, perfect for me! Decor aside the pastries at faubourg seem to be going downhill. I was obsessed with them around 1-2 years ago and recently I’ve been dropping in every once in awhile. This post will have interior pictures of only the Park Royal location but it will include desserts from the hornby location. In the past their desserts were fantastic now not so much….
Justamorsel
Food was okay, nothing outstanding yet nothing that really wanted to make me complain. Its a nice place to hang out and talk.

This is the second time we’ve come to Faubourg, a popular French cafe that really offers a truly Parisian experience! They have savoury gourmet items, sophisticated desserts, coffees and teas. We went to pick up Hershey, Jenny’s Pappion from Pawsh Dog Spa in Yaletown. He was a little overdue and this place really has incredible service for a very good price! We walked up with our newly groomed dog towards the Vancouver Art Gallery. Nestled on the corner of Hornby & Robson, this cafe sits right beside Cafe Artigiano, another popular downtown coffee spot. I ordered a few nice desserts as a treat after lunch at YEW. We had a small cake and tart box for $16 , two macaroons, and a Marco Polo London fog latte. In total it came to about $24 . Slightly expensive for a normal coffee date, but for special occasions, you will never regret coming here! Quality – 5 of 5 Ingenuity – 4.5 of 5 Ambiance – 5 of 5 Service – 4.5 of 5 Value – 4 of 5 Overall – 4.6 of 5

It was a bright cafe, with a patio, but since it was rainy we opted to sit inside. There was only one other group seated which we thought it was odd because everytime we go to Theirry's there's always a crowd. We browsed what was still available and the selection was not as a big as a place like Thierry's, but they looked really good. We were torn between a Mille Feuilles or a Lemon Tart. Lemon Tart As

faubourg is a popular cafe known for their french pastries and macarons. i have a new obsession with croissants and when my friend and i passed faubourg downtown before dinner, we couldnt help but pick up a quick snack. almond croissant (~$3): DELICIOUS...still warm from the oven and filled with an almond filling that was both light and buttery at the same time, the pastry itself is flaky and are layered perfectly. i highly recommend faubourg's croissants...now to try everything else. 5/5
Guiltyofgluttony
I am known for saying that pastries chefs in Vancouver are crazey for not opening more dessert spot in downtown area. So when I passed by the new Faubourg on Hornby last week, there were fireworks! And although I was stuffed from brunch, I just couldn’t resist. And, because I see this new place as a direct competitor with the infamous Thierry, I just have to compare the two. The pastries and macaroons were well made – I would argue that they are better than Thierry’s. The flavours in the macaroons were pleasantly distinct and recognizable. We had their faubourg special, lavender & early grey, strawberry black pepper, and they were all wonderful, I enjoyed them as much as those from Soirette Macaroons & Tea (Coal Harbour). We also tried their mille feuille with blackcurrent whipped cream instead of icing on top, and I think they used blackcurrent flavoured filling as well. The pastries part was well made, better than Thierry’s, but overall I like the Thierry’s better as I found the Fau

... super flaky and soft; I saw these coming out of the oven (actually I smelled them first, the butter... :D); a worthy rival to Bel Cafe's croissant...
J At Vanbrosia.com
... Croque Monsieur... tad too much bread and ham to cheese ratio; bread slightly hard; ham a tad salty...
J At Vanbrosia.com
... Pain au chocolat... WOW! Very crispy and light, w just the right amt of softness inside and the right portion of chocolate; very well done

... Tri-chocolate decadent... slightly dry and doesn't even look the same as the one I tried on Jul 21, 2013... Nevertheless, not bad. But definitely not a 3.

Bread, viennoiserie, macaron, pastry, cakes, catering, and wholesale, oh my! I have been a long time fan of “Faubourg” bakery in Kerrisdale, so was ecstatic when then opened their long awaited, second location downtown. For me this is a destination closer to my home and work, and therefore more visit friendly. Though their plans for expansion doesn’t stop there, with goals for a third shop popping up in Park Royal by winter 2013. Now you need not travel far, where ever you are, for an authentic French bakery. At the Hornby location they do the same great delicate desserts, the same fresh loaves of bread, and the same popular flavours of macarons. So you are not missing out on anything from location to location. This includes their pastry chef’s unique offerings only available for that month. October’s selection is a honey caramelized fig and blue cheese macaron, a pumpkin flavoured cream filled croissant, an apple bread, and a spiced apple caramel tower dessert. All very reminiscent of

Faubourg's maracrons were the most consistent in terms of their flavours as everything tasted as described. However, their renditions were very dry and crumbly. They did not have a chewiness at all.
Idea Rabbit
I’ve always seen this place packed with trendy, Yaletown-like or more rather Coal-harbour like customers inside. The chandeliers from the windows were always attractive and was wanting to check it out for a while. I decided to have coffee and dessert with my friend around 2pm on a Sunday. I ordered the Vanilla Rooibos tea $3.30 and Creme Brulee $5.05. Servers were friendly and helpful. Hearing quite a bit of French in the cafe from the customers was a nice change of atmosphere when I usually hear Chinese or Korean in my environment. The cafe was again packed and got a little table by the window, which wasn’t a good idea on a cool winter day since I froze. The tea pot is cute, though the lid’s knob is pretty hot!! The Creme Brulee’s sugar coating was almost impossible to break through. I think the opening of the plastic container is too small, making it unbreakable. Even after I broke through, it was difficult eating the thing. In the end, there was about a third of the crispy top leftover as I just couldn’t get them to break off from the sides of the plastic cup. The taste was good, and the fruits were fresh and sweet.

The display of goodies behind the new glass casing was so pretty that I wanted to try everything! Macarons cost $2 each and have a good variety of flavours available.
Constant Cravings
The lemon curd was a delectable combination of tart but sweet. The texture was nice and creamy and underneath the lemon curd was a layer of something like meringue? It was white and a bit marshmallow-like with a mild flavour I can’t quite describe.
Food Queen
The pastry is made with lemon curd on top of a milky foamy meringue surrounded in a tart shell. I loved every bite of this dessert.

Faubourg French Patisserie is one of my favorite dessert abd pastry shops. They have since expanded from their West 41st Kerrisdale location to both Downtown Vancouver and West Vancouver at Park Royal Shopping Centre. I like the big open space, high ceiling and chandeliers. Most of all, I love their savory croissants and pastries. Faubourg makes a great place for a snack mid-day and is quiet enough to catch up on work. There are plenty of counter space and tables. I love the brightly lit environment. It makes the perfect ‘coffice’ atmosphere for blogging. Eating With Kirby
They have really cool seating inside. I even went back a second time within the week and ate a panini while reading a nice book. Really cool place to chill. Right when you walk in you'll see the large array of macarons on display. The colours are vibrant which look visually appealing but I personally have a slight distaste for it because I don't like eating large amounts of artificial colours. Their small assorted box of pastries almost got me because it looked SO AMAZINGLY BEAUTIFUL! I got six Macarons ($2/ea) which included flavours like Strawberry Black Pepper, Raspberry Rose, Lemon, Lavender Earl Grey, etc. The macarons had the right consistency and texture (nice foot on the bottom, cracked easily yet held its shape, and smooth flat top) but that was all that was goo

I feel like I’ve mistakenly misjudged this French pastry shop. I think my first experience with Faubourg in Kerrisdale was probably not true to it’s form (I had their sandwiches, and I wasn’t that impressed by them). Thankfully, they’ve opened up a more convenient shop in Downtown and I wanted to give it another go. Their newest location downtown is right across the Art Gallery. It’s bright, clean shop is complimented with it’s cool metallic fixtures and seating area. They even have a nice patio that can be enjoyed during the summer months. What I really enjoyed about my experience here is their Pain au Chocolat. This crispy but buttery and flakey treat has just enough chocolate to make this the most heavenly pastry I have ever tasted. I’m so obsessed with it, it’s the first thing I ask when I enter the cafe. I also ordered the Chausson aux Pommes – this amazing puff pastry filled with spiced apple compote and cinnamon. This crispy and slightly sweet pastry was thoroughly enjoyed by my

Faubourg opened their new location last year in August 2013. It is located right beside the Vancouver Art Gallery and has indoor and patio seating. They also have a location in Kerrisdale and Park Royal in West Vancouver. KoreanGirl and I stopped here for some croissants and a drink. But most importantly, to chill and talk. The interior is really beautiful and a great place to send the afternoon with friends. Look at those chandeliers. We came here when it was a little bit snowy outside, but it was nice to get out of the rain/snow. They have a variety of savoury items great for the lunch time crowd. There are also some very sweet treats. You might be staring at this section for a while because everything looks good. Many baked items that smelled amazing. Croissants are definitely very popular here. Don’t forget to look at their beautiful macarons. So many choices! Hot Chocolate was our drink of choice. We’ve been definitely having a huge craving for hot chocolate. It was rich and nice

I tried their almond croissant on Friday. It didn't hold a candle to that little bakery in the Plateau, but it was damn good so I knew I had to go back.

I said in my Kerrisdale post that I would add the downtown location to my go-to place list; now that it’s open, I’ll make sure to visit it regularly. Too bad this location doesn’t offer afternoon tea/bistro service, so it would only satisfy my pastry and sweet cravings. Nonetheless, I think this is a much welcomed addition to the area for some great quality, fresh bread, pastries and sweets.
My Secret Eden
Faubourg has also been on my go-to list for dessert, but most times it's just too out of the way for us. So when I heard they opened a new downtown location, I was pretty happy.
