Review Wildebeest - Vancouver

Moki Padama
We went for my birthday dinner this summer and it exceeded our expectations! Our waiter was charming and knowledgeable. He made our experience absolutely perfect. The food was phenomenal! Each dish was unique but a few stood out. The bone marrow was fun and the garlic scapes were AMAZING! This meal was the highlight of our trip.

So fun! Great food and atmosphere. Highly recommend the mussels and tortellini. Also loved the venison loin and veal bone marrow (with on the house sherry pour!) - all super creative and yummy! Terrific cocktail menu, as well.

Amazing food. You can really feel the emphasis on nature in their cooking. It was the Pacific Northwest on the table, all served in a cozy setting. Everything was fresh and cooked perfectly. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Adventurous eating at it’s finest, the horse tartare was exquisite. Two thumbs up 👍🏼👍🏼

If anyone looking through these reviews wants the best brunch in Vancouver, search no further: Wildebeest is the place you need to be. I've waited in the hour long line at Jam Cafe, tried Catch 122, Enzo's, Forage and a gauntlet of others and read brunch reviews enough to make my eyes bleed in search of the perfect place. Quite frankly I'm a little upset with myself for not coming here sooner, and if you haven't been, make sure you fix that asap. The bar is amazingly well stocked and well staffed. Wildebeest's bloody caesar came with a sweet pickled green bean and a smoked castelvestrano olive (dear sweet god these olivez are good - and thankfully available as an appetizer on the dinner menu) in a glass liberally sprinkled with seasoned salt - blissful, and not surprisingly now the benchmark to which all bloody caesars will be held in the future. I ordered the bacon Benedict, which I highly recommend. The bearnaise was perfect, the eggs glorious with a deep orange runny yolk, and (the best part) ...face bacon all on a grilled buttermilk biscuit. A beautifully done hasselback potato and a side of seared kale rounded out the dish. Bottom line, you need to eat brunch at the Wildebeest.

Went on for the 10 course tasting menu and was amazing with the selection and well rounded flavors from start to finish. I love trying new things so a tasting menu is perfect but I would single out the lamb, charcuterie and apricot desserts as truly amazing. I would also like to mention that our severs Liam and Gabby could not possibly have done a better job. They explained everything and answered all our questions about the dishs, checked back often, were very friendly and truly added to our dinning experience. Becuae of the amazing food and the great service from Liam and Gabby I would highly recommend Wildebeest to everyone.

Love love loved this place! Fabulous dinner for a Friday date night. Lovely atmosphere, amazing service, and delicious food. I don’t eat meat yet still had a great meal, the carrots, artichokes, caviar, and fish dish. The fish was cooked perfectly with beautiful unique flavors. My boyfriend loved the meat dishes. We’ll definitely be back.

I world like to recommend this place for a delicious brunch spot to take a date on or go with friend. Also their dinner are really good! Love the open kitchen concept! I had trouble trying to pick what you eat on the menu because everything looked so delicious!

Came here for Valentine’s Day special. Taste of appetizers was good. Taste of mains were soso at best. The bison steak was very tough and difficult to eat. The truffle ravioli was excellent. Service level was below average compared to most other western restaurants. For $75 per person base price before drinks and add-ons, I was expecting better food and service.

Sorry this place can't settle with one line. Probably one of my worst dining experiences. TL:DR Customer service is straight garbage / a fucking joke and food is above average. Reason why customer service is straight garbage or a fucking joke? I went here for dineout with my family. We were sat next to the entrance door and it was all good until our entree. There was an incident outside where someone used pepper spray outside and near the restaurant. We were the only table sat beside the entrance. If you have ever come across pepper spray, that shit or fume goes kind of far and it's like an AOE (area of effect). Anyways, it got inside the restaurant and to the front desk. My family and I coughed our asses off at our table with our eyes watering for a good 10 minutes. We continued to cough for at least 20 minutes. Funniest thing was that all their staffs (front desk and the rest of the staffs) went to the back or to the basement. Our waitress went MIA for the entree time because whoever approached or passed by us were coughing. For the entire time no one approached us at all to rearrange our seats and no one even gave us water. They pretended like we were not affected by it or nothing happened while all their staffs were coughing their asses off. Afterwards, they didn't bother asking if we were okay or anything. They basically left us at our table to suffer cause no one else was there except for us. Food is above average..., but tbh for $40 there are a lot more better options than this place. Small portion with decent flavour, but idk about flavour cause I was too busy coughing. May be you guys could have handled the situation a lot better with your customers because that shit was unacceptable. Furthermore, you guys didn't even apologize about the incident and basically left us there to die for 30 minutes until I paid the bill. I just wanted to try this place and brought my family, but yeah I don't think I will ever go back. Do you usually let your customers physically suffer or is it just us?

Not a South African restaurant! Food flavours and combinations were mouth watering delicious! We had pork belly and scallop combo, goat lasagne, ocean perch and steak tartare with the most amazing green beans in miso with sesame seeds. We cannot say a bad word about anything, service, ambience, food and staff included, totally awesome! The is a must when in Vancouver! Well done guys!!

5 stars for food, 1 star for service (servers were knowledgeable and capable, but just too lazy or apathetic to provide service). PS Restaurant was empty and had more staff than customers. A shame because the food and wine were superb

Loved everything about this place: service, food and ambience. Unique menu - go the chef's menu. You won't regret it.

This was, by far, one of the most exquisite meals I've had in a long time. We ordered a lot of the small plates and sides and enjoyed a tasting journey. This chef takes special care to make interesting and terrific taste and texture combinations. I especially enjoyed the rabbit fois gras, the poutine, and for dessert, the parsnip creme brule, simple fabulous! The cocktails are complex and unusual, my favourite was the Horseradish Sour. I will definitely be back.

As much as I want Wildebeest to stay a hidden gem, it's the exact combination of great food and service. Unlike its close counterpart that makes you wait 40 minutes for a very average brunch, this particular locale cooks their eggs benedict sous-vide...need I say more?

Wildebeests had amazing food! We were there for Happy Hour! Great food Bone Marrow, Glazed Boar Belly were amazing, Caesar Brussels were fantastic & their smokey Olives must have.

Visited here with a Vancouver Foodie Tours group and had the creme brule. It was the best creme brule I've ever had.

Love this place. Doesn't disappoint. Make sure to get the bone marrow and turn it into the booze louge.

We were looking for a quick bite, had to pop in to something as we walked by. We had a great experience, the food was good, the service was excellent, staff friendly. We loved it.

I enjoyed my brunch there with family. The staff were very friendly and always offering help if needed. My Avocado Toast was amazing and the tea&coffee were great too. Would love to try something different next time.

The food was FANTASTIC! So many mouth watering flavours. I tried the rockfish. My other party members had the game lasagna and the pork belly . We started off with the Caesar Brussel sprouts .. they are an amazing appetizer. The service is great and the staff is outstanding. . My hats off to the chefs for they are the ones that worked their magic and the entire team made I️t amost pleasurable dinning experience

While the food was decent, I was extremely disappointed when I was told the kitchen "too busy" to make my eggs the way I ordered them. As a person who works in the service industry I understand busy, but the customer service was sub par.

Amazing! Our first time here and the food and drinks were so unique and fabulous! The staff were so friendly and wonderful. It's our new favorite restaurant, and will enjoy it every time we come to visit Vancouver for sure!
