I had a Spanish Gouda burger with fries, coleslaw & beer
Friend also had a burger with onion rings & beer
Both burgers were delicious and a generous size. Portion of fries was huge, barely finished my meal. Onion rings and the dip was delicious great batter.
If your gonna come here come hungry! Great small environment (we sat at the bar which was fine). I wouldn't take any more then 3 people at once since it's a fairly small place.
Can never go wrong. All the food is amazing. The place is as small as people say. Expect a wait if u want to sit down. It is the best little hole in the wall and the burgers are amazing. I recommend the bison burger.
Where do I start, best poutines around! So tasty, restaurant does get busy but I’ve always found a spot. Only had the poutines so far but they are always so good with varied toppings.
Always delicious weekly special concoctions, huge portions, and reasonable prices (especially for the amount of food that you get). I have never had anything that hasn't made me happy!
If it weren't for the quality of food, I'd have rated this restaurant lower due to service. When we arrived, the front door was opened and the music BLARING. We sat down in the tiny space, and were ignored by the server (whose first words to us when she finally came over about 5 min later were "we weren't actually opened yet"). All through the meal the service was just plain uncomfortable. It was as though we were annoying to the server, for even being there. No smile, nothing, ever.
I was annoyed they were out of lobster, but it wasn't that so much as how we were told... While ordering, being cut off abruptly with "we don't have lobster right now". No apology, nothing.
We were also not told about the feature burger (although I know there always is one).
With that said, the food product was superb, so I'd likely give them another shot.
Ok now, this place rules! I had their basic Angus burger for $9 and added about 7 or 8 free toppings. Cooked perfectly pink in the middle and juicy, flavourful, good bun, great rings. My wife and kid each ordered one of their monstrous Chuck specialty burgers and while that is too much crazy burger mess for me they thoroughly enjoyed themselves.. my wife had to take most of hers home. My kids burger was stacked so high all he could do was stare at it for a while as he dug into his insanely cheesey and delicious poutine (yes I sampled) -- my one 'beef' is that they are way out in Sidney. Seriously need to open shop downtown. One word for you... GO!!!
Owner (Chuck!) recently moved from Ontario bringing his very successful business with him. His Burger Bar was a huge deal over there, even featured on Food Network's "You Gotta Eat Here".
The menu has a humongous selection of burgers. If you don't see what you want, customize your own creation with a plethora of toppings. The burgers are huge. The veggie patty is crispy on outside, soft and flavourful on inside. Ingredients are quality and sourced locally.
A friend of ours exclaimed "easily top five best burger of my life." It's got the wow factor for sure and is our new favourite place to visit in Sidney. It's a smallish joint located in the industrial area of Malaview close to airport but note it gets busy at lunch rush and in the evening with surrounding businesses and locals. Hang around for a table or grab for takeout. Food sometimes take awhile but worth the wait.
Tip: grab a burger to go for the ferries - beats that awful assembly line White Spot! We called ahead to pick up food for the last departing Friday ferry and server explained it was a 30 minute wait but she expedited our order knowing we were cutting it close to 9pm! That was above and beyond customer service. We picked up our takeout, just made the ferry, and blissfully enjoyed our delicious burgers with the envy of everyone on board! Thank you Chuck's!
Holy Moly. This place was awesome - from the amazing food and huge portions ( and I mean huge) to the awesome spitfire server that we loved so much.
I highly recommend this place - you won't be disappointed!
So far my vacation on Vancouver Island has been highlighted by Chuck's. The burgers were delicious, especially since you can customize it to make sure it's exactly what you want. The staff were very friendly but not fake, just genuinely down to earth people. Everything on the menu is so creative and different and most of the prices are affordable. The environment was welcoming and friendly. I especially loved the wood bar and tables. The only issue I have was the area it was in but everything else really made it amazing.
Delicious and massive burger, awesome onion rings with chipotle sauce. My son had a burger with blue cheese and that was a little much for him - but he just scraped it off. Kitchen is a little slow - but worth the wait. Can't wait to go back and try some of their other burgers!
Second time here, the first time burger was undercooked, The next time the burger was perfect. Will definitely try again. Don't expect a budget minded meal at Chuck's. Had another burger, very good. After ordering expect at least 30 minutes before it is served. Tried the homemade onion rings this time, they are worth eating, similar style to A&W but better.
Wowww! We discovered this place during the Sidney Night Market on Thursdays and the burgers were so tasty we decided to make a trip to the restaurant from Victoria! And it’s totally worth it!
So many delicious options to choose from: lamb, venison, bison, beef, chicken, etc. for the burger meat, and you choose your own toppings from lettuce, mixed greens, tomatoes, cucumber, hot peppers, beets, and different flavored mayos and BBQ sauces!
You can also easily order your burger double meat as it is on the menu!
We tried the chicken strips chips as an appetizer and it was very tasty and original.
We are definitely going back!
My wife ordered the blue cheese burger with poutine and I ordered the Cuban burger with fries. As always the portions are massive so you will likely be full. The service was great, the food came quickly (also due to the fact we were one of the last customers). The staff is really friendly and nice. One of the top burger places in the Victoria area.
I had lunch here with a few friends and we really enjoyed it. The large pulled pork poutine was more then enough and very tasty. The chicken and Turkey burgers were both good as well. We choose to customize our burgers, so were able to pick all of the toppings we wanted. They have a chucks lager and a variety of other beers on tap. It wasn't to loud either, so we were able to hear each other talk. Would recommend.
Amazing burgers, made fresh to order with a great price, one of my favourite places. Now that they are opening a new location in downtown Victoria ill be there every week. Great big turkey wings are yummy.
Me and one of my best friends are on the search for the best burger in the CRD... Probably on our 10th place and without a doubt, Chuck's has (so far) earned the top spot on the list.
This place is awesome! With so many gourmet and boutique burger places in town it’s nice to go to a place that does things in such a unique and over-the-top way. Guaranteed you will not leave hungry! Oh and their poutines are killer too! My go-to is the Chop House Steak poutine. So good!
Chose this place wanting to try some poutine and this place was incredible. A quaint little place in a busy industrial/airport area. We also had the Mama Chuck Chili, Cheese, and Bacon burger which was very good.
The food was great but the time to get the food was a little slow. One table at a time is what it seemed like. Without having been here before it is hard to say what the lunchtime rush is like having to get back to work and wait for a meal?
I would not let the slow service I had for this particular Monday lunch service stop anyone from coming to try this. Again...food was excellent. Try it for yourself!!
We shared both and should have got something else besides fries with the burger, if possible, as that made for a ton of fries.
