BEST breakfast ever! Had french toast AND pancakes ( don't judge!) And it was by far the best I have ever had! Fresh squeezed OJ and yummy coffee. Couldn't leave without getting some snacks as well. Cupcake, cinnamon roll, turkey roll and a raspberry square. Hope it makes it home back to Newfoundland in my suitcase. And the nicest owners in the world. Super sweet! Highly recommend this place, even if you're not gluten free!
I don't know how I have had celiac for almost three years and only now have made it out to Odell's. This place is awesome - especially the new location. Finally somewhere I can go where the food tastes not only like normal food, but BETTER than normal food. Their fish and chips are to die for, and don't leave without trying one of their apple blossoms for dessert!
Since my husband was diagnosed as celiac, we have discovered the joys of this place. We liked it when it was in our own neighborhood in the north end, but it was small and cramped and they didn’t have a large menu. Mostly baked goods. Now with this location, wow! A better menu than many full restaurants, a much larger, beautiful space, and a modern café connected to the restaurant and bakery. Just fantastic. We loved our first meal here and my husband said he would be happy to make the trip to this area of the city to eat here any time. I had the broccoli salad which was a step up from the usual broccoli salad, and my husband was able to order fish and chips for the first time since being diagnosed. The fish and batter was delicious and the fries were good too. We will definitely be back.
Today I had fish and chips for the first time in about 8 years, and it was delicious. My husband, a happy gluten eater had it as well, and agreed it was some of the best fish and chips he's ever had, gluten free or not.
Always great service. Super polite. Food is A1! Amazing! You wouldn't know it was certified gluten free other than the signage and name of the place indicating it is.
On the advice of a friend we stopped in here and we were not disappointed. The location is tiny and super busy, the staff are friendly and really helpful. As this is a gluten free spot they gave us tips on some of the products and reheating the items we were taking home. We were a bit late to try the cinnamon rolls (which was what brought us in)so we’ll be back for those. The pizza crust, cookies and danish we bought were great.
I've been going to this place since they opened - not frequently, but enough that I can say their bakery goods and food is consistently high quality. It is not easy to find one gluten-free brand/provider that offers the full range of products, let alone EXCELLENT taste and texture. Last night I got a pizza for the first time. WOW. The crust was a real pizza crust (and didn't give me gas ... you know what I'm talking about my fellow celiacs). The toppings were generous and flavorful, and the price was reasonable in comparison to others in town.
I also want to say that I'm surprised this gem of a place was able to stay in business through covid and now with all the staffing shortages. So their hours are not always convenient and sometimes their policies have to shift with the current conditions, but I'm grateful these people stick with it. This is one of those "support your local" that I'm really cheering for because THEY ARE SUPPORTING US!
Wonderful gluten free food. To find battered fish and chips again is life changing to say the least. The treats are all delicious looking as well and I plan to try a new one each time I visit. Also, a very large menu for a purely gluten free restaurant.
The best seafood we’ve ever had. The lemon tart was also incredible! Love everything about this place and we are so glad we visited.
Today is my first time here and I'm super impressed! I've only been eating gluten free for a few weeks and this was an absolute treat! I got a chicken burger and onion rings. They were better than any fast food place I've been before finding out I'm celiac! I can't wait to come back and try more things!
A very cool concept for a cafe. Certainly highlights the importance for inclusiveness in such restricted diets. They have a large selection of baked goods to choose from which was really great to see. They were all helpfully labelled to indicate if they were dairy free or gluten free. I would recommend this cafe for anyone who has the dietary needs.
My only gripe is that there is a lack of pricing on each item. Overall the staff were friendly and service was 👍
As someone who has been gluten-free for years, I understand the feeling of going to a restaurant and searching for what you can eat instead of what you want to eat.
Odell's is a safe space for the gluten-free community where you don't need to worry about cross-contamination. There bakery items are unique and worth the cost. Their restaurant items are fairly priced provide diverse menu options.
The staff is excellent and is always willing to answer any questions and provide outstanding service. 10/10 recommend you visit!
