Stopped in for happy hour, adequately named as 'Appy Hour with the number of appetizers to choose from. We went with the mussels, mac and cheese (super cheesy but some people in our party suggested more salt), and the pork sliders (2 in an order). Happy hour drinks include sleeves of lager were 4.75 and red wine was 5.75. Barrel boulevardier was not on special for 10.75.
5/5 TLDR: Great food/menu, service was friendly and prices reasonable.
Ordered the salmon on risotto and this was a great dish. All the flavors really complemented each other and was a perfect portion. The hearty portion of salmon was seasoned to perfection and the shrimp really was the icing on the cake. Service was friendly and we sat outside and had a great experience. Entrees range from 25-35$ but is well worth the price of admission, and we left completely satisfied. Would definitely recommend.
Great experience, we were looking for somewhere to eat at around 2pm on a sunday, and we stumbled across this place, it was very welcoming to us and our kids, and the food was fantastic. Service amazing, and such friendly staff. I recommend the Chef Ryan's fried chicken & the pulled pork sandwich.
Excellence! We have been patiently waiting for the tourist crowd to die back before checking this place out. It has been a challenging location for the past few restaurants, but the makeover/upgrades to the place make it seem much more inviting. The curious name only adds to the intrigue.
We always use happy hour as a good excuse to check out new digs and The Flying Pig went above and beyond our expectations. We ordered beef carpaccio, the beet and bresaola salad, and the mussels.
The beef carpaccio came with the usual pairing of arugula and shaved parmesan but was sliced to perfection. The beet and bresaola salad tasted as beautiful as it looked, but perhaps the beets should be sliced, not diced. The mussels (although PEI, and not local Salt Spring Island) came in an amazing broth that I would have happily drank after running out of the crustini that I saved from the beef carpacio.
The wait staff were attentive, friendly and on point!
5 stars all around, and we can't wait to try dinner service.
Came here during happy hour, and was pleasantly surprised. Considering how busy it was I expected to have to wait for our water glasses to be refilled, etc., but the server was totally on it. It was hot out and I think he must have refilled our glasses at least 4 times. We had the salmon cakes, mussels and croquettes. All were really good and I thought a great value for the quality. Have been to the restaurant in Vancouver, but this visit was more memorable because of the service. I am rating at 4 stars, not because of our experience, but an elderly group of four came in just before us, and they were helped by another individual. They were told there was no space left on the patio, but there was, because we were seated at a table of four. I don't think this was intentional, but I did feel bad for the group. We will be back, gladly.
Great place. Good food, good service, diecent whiskey selection.
I had the daily special, pan seared ling cod and crust brussel sprouts. Very good. Go. This is worth stopping in.
We went to The Flying Pig to enjoy Creme Brulee as a family on the day we celebrated my dad after his passing. This was his favourite dessert. This location was the restaurant my stepmom Lorraine first introduced my dad to her kids 26 years ago before it was The Flying Pig. Our server was funny, gracious, observant, and careful to tend to every detail. I would come back just for that...but their Creme Brulee was also incredibly delicious.
This is our go-to place for superb food and warm service. They treat celiac guests with a welcome and accommodating attitude and I am confident in their food safety. Can’t say enough about the combo of kind and delicious.
We have wanted to try this restaurant since we saw them doing renovations .
Finally today we went in for a later lunch and we were not disappointed.
The server was tentative without being over bearing , very knowledgeable and out going .
The food was delicious.
A very good wine list .
It was trendy and cozy at the same time .
We will be going there and adding it to our list of favorite local stops
Delicious food and great outdoor seating. I had the shortribs with bone marrow. It was my first time trying bone marrow. I'm not a fan.
