The duck was amazing- I ordered it as medium well done, and it was perfect for me. One of the cocktails had a fruit fly, and the waiter kindly waved the price for that one. I enjoyed the food and appreciated the service here. One of my favourite restaurants in the town!
Edit: visited again. The cocktails were great as the last time, but the food was a bit disappointing. On our last visit, the duck and halibut were amazing. Time time, the lamb was tough (I had to work hard to cut the meat); the bison burger was just okay; and the mussel had some sand. It seems like experience may vary depending on what you order.
Cozy restaurant, beautifully crafted cocktails, amazing friendly service and tasty food utilizing fresh seasonal ingredients. Duck wings were delicious as well as the sides and polenta. Perfect way to end the evening.
Out of all the bars in the city, LJ is the one I am in regular attendance at. I suggest going during the week and sit at the bar when Clayton is bartending. His wine suggestions always a hit with my food choice and his cocktail crafting is truly an art. Get him to make you a bartender’s choice and I promise you, you’ll be there as often as I am. The photos are all his custom cocktails I’ve had the pleasure of enjoying. Thanks for the kind and very knowledgeable service Clayton! You’re the best.
Best food and drinks on our Vancouver and British Columbia trip so far and can't imagine it being beaten! Wonderful speakeasy vibe, terrific cocktails (and mocktails) and cannot fault the friendly, helpful and non-overbearing service. Try the roasty toasty for a lemon meringue cocktail delight! Hard to pick a favourite cocktail though - had to have 3 rounds so my husband and I could try more! The halloumi fries and polenta were excellent to nibble on, but the stars of the show were the New York Strip and the Beef Tenderloin. Would unhesitatingly recommend.

Amazing food, service and drinks! The atmosphere was gorgeous! The tables were quite close together because it’s a small venue and the table next to us was super loud when my bf and I were just coming for a quiet date night but other than that it was great! We will deffs be back again!
Excellent bar with sophisticated cocktails. Perfect fancy date night bar. As a tourist, I went out of my way to find a non-tourist cocktail bar and they delivered. They have an eclectic and extensive assortment of spirits. Knowing it was dedicated to historic bar masters I had high hopes, but it truly exceeded my expectations. Anytime I'm back in Victoria I'll be visiting again.
This is a unique restaurant with emphasis on cocktails. The vibe is good though the place is a little dark with no windows. The halibut is an excellent dish. Fresh, tender and tasty. Prices are slightly above average. The special martini is tasty and original. Overall a solid 4.5 out of 5.
My wife and I had a wonderful experience. We have been to similar restaurants in Victoria but this place is at the top of the list. Our server was really great. The food was amazing. Also the bartender is on point he is a master behind the bar. We already have reservations with some of our friends. Can't wait
Nice cocktails and friendly service. Would have loved to try their tartare but they ran out. The mushroom pate was delicious -earthy and rich. The vongole was not what I expected but was a delicious balance of tomatoes and clam flavour. The seafood soup with the fish was wonderful -the fish was not just poached but panseared so it still had a nice crust. Mussels and clams were fresh and juicy.
