My Favorite Tea House By Far. Fantastic gourmet teas, paninis and I've never tasted espresso or coffee as good as this! The staff is great as well offering exceptionally friendly service that is often lacking from big chains. Rumi Rose Garden is one of the hidden gems in Vancouver.

Ruminate on a mys-tea-ic Sufixperience. There are a lot of places where you can get a good chai. Rumi Rose Tea Garden has fine food and drinks. More than that, though, you can have a meditative, mystical experience while you sip.

If you're not familiar with Sufism -- hint! -- it's different to Sikhism -- Rumi is the simplified name of a Muslim mystic poet from the late 1200s. He founded the kinder, gentler version of Islam, the branch that's more about joy than shame and submission. That's the way this teahouse is. It's got ethereal dance music playing, incense burning, colourful food products and decorations all over the walls -- a joyous-looking space. If you have an open mind, if you're not rattled by other religious faiths, it's a great spot to sit and groove while you eat and drink Persian delicacies. You might even learn something about Sufis -- best known for their whirling dervish form of ecstatic spirituality through dance. But they won't ram it down your throat and hard-sell to convert you. They're the mellow Muslims!

But this is a food review site, not a centre for spirituality, so let me say something about the nourishment that Rumi Tea House provides for the body. The 12-oz. pot of chai steamed up for me by John, a gentle, bearded giant who was running the joint when I stopped in, was spicy good. I caught some definite heat, like cinnamon and pepper, from my pot. Accompanying it was a choice piece of blueberry cheesecake on a thick, not-soggy graham cracker crust. At less than $8 for the pair, it was a relatively cheap treat. It was nice to kick back and let my mind drift as I watched the frantic traffic through the windows that look onto the intersection of East Hastings and Boundary. There are lots of other things to eat and drink besides tea and sweets, plus a shop with exotic (to me, at least) Middle Eastern groceries. Rumi will make your head spin, and if you're into it, your body can spin too.

Experience a destination for your soul!. Your mind, body and soul will feel at peace when you walk through the doors of Rumi Rose! They have surely provided a welcoming environment to sit and relax. Delicious food at a very reasonable price always served with a smile! Sip one of many healing teas that have amazing flavours. The Mediterranean market is stocked with options to create quick dishes from the region. Take your time and go upstairs to enjoy a sitting area where you can leaf through interesting Sufi titles. They also have a website (www.rumirose.ca) for times you can't make it in-store. This is as close as you will get to living the words in Rumi's poetry!

Warm invitation. Rumi Rose is truly one of the most welcoming places in all of Vancouver. Once you go in it's almost impossible to leave. Not only is it warm and colorfully decorated, but everyone there is so generous and kind. You could literally never be able to find a way to leave.

Only disapointment is I can only visit when I come to town as I'm not local to Vancouver.

What a Beautiful Space - Great Energy. I'd say this Vancouver's Hidden Gem.
A Spiritual Tea House with over 50 Healing Teas, Nice Gourmet Coffee, Lattes etc,
Their Turkish Coffee is served in these nice cups.
Upstairs has a nice Meditation Space and Spiritual Book Store.
You can feel the energy soon as you walk in and the staff is very friendly.
Check it out, you won't be disappointed! :)

p.s. just noticed the person above me said the exact same last line - must be true :)

One sip of the tea and you will be thirsty for more!!!. Heavenly tasting teas and coffees! Superb ambiance that takes you back to centuries of culture and tradition, all in one spot! Sandwiches, dolmes and pastries are delicious and nourish you with pure nutrients. You can check out exquisite books while you sip away and let the beautiful music feed your soul!

You can pick up all ingredients for your middle eastern cooking experience from the grocery section too. Why travel so far when you can experience "the Sufi Way of living" in the heart of Vancouver. You will be amazed at this hidden treasure. There are many gift items to choose from for all your loved ones.
