Meal: Baked Seafood on fried rice with coconut sauce. Baked chicken and pork chop on rice with tomato sauce. Service: Surprisingly good for a Chinese restaurant. Multiple tea refills. . Atmosphere: Booth seating is awesome for better conversations. The restaurant is pretty big with a variety of tables.
Went there for a late night meal. We ordered Deep fried pork chops, marinated tofu, silver fish omelette and golden prawns with cashew nuts, all of them tasted good to me and my hubby. Services are warm and nice too.
Ken’s Chinese Kitchen is a Hong Kong-style cafe that has received numerous awards and accolades over the years. Their claim to fame is the Golden Dungeness Crab and Lobster with Konyaku in Hotpot which received the Chinese Restaurant Awards Critics’ Choice honour for Best Crab in 2009 and Best Lobster in 2010, respectively.

NOTE: As part of the ChineseBites media event, all food was free, but all opinions are based on my own personal experience. Last month, I was invited by ChineseBites to do a tasting at Ken’s Chinese Restaurant. The restaurant has been around for many years and serves traditional Chinese dishes as well as some HK style cafe dishes. One of their signature dishes is the Lobster with Konnyaku in Hot Pot. This was very flavourful with the lobster cooked just right and the konnyaku noodles soaking up the delicious broth. A must order! We got to sample two of their signature crab dishes. The first was the Crab with Garlic & Spicy XO Sauce. The sauce is more of a dry sauce and great if you love spicy flavours. I could eat the whole dish if I didn’t have to share!
I have noticed this place ever since they aired a commercial on the local chinese channel many years back. Been coming here a lot during the afternoon. Service is always friendly and fast, food is quick and delicious. Good place to go if you want somewhere reliable.
For delivery and at a decent price, this is the place to go. Lots of delivery Chinese around this area is pretty awful but kens does it right. It won't be mind blowing but for the price will do the trick.
Food was good, generous portions. Friendly staff. Fair prices. One of our knives was dirty, knocking the rating down half a point. Would return again.

Came here a couple times for dinner and usually birthday dinners, and so far what i remember most about this place is their dungeness crab that is cooked with egg. Yes, i think it's only the yellow part of the egg, and it became very very flavourful, because the crab itself have it's own distinct fresh sweet seafood taste, and on top of that you have the salted egg yolk taste which pretty much blows any taste that you have right off. it's really flavourful but maybe some people will find it too salty and some maybe too overpowering, but i personally enjoyed it. other than that, the free range chicken is good, and fish maw soup is good as well, most of the items that i have ordered here is all good, just depending on the type of preference of meat, taste and food structure.
overall, i would recommend this place for big parties, and price wise is more expensive type of chinese restaurant, do i think it's worth it? hmmmm sort of there are a few other places that are better, but this one is good too.

Delicious Decent Priced Food. I have been coming here since I have been a kid, and let me just say that the food has not changed and the service has mostly been the same. I am not usually a big fan of Chinese food but Ken's Chinese Restaurant always makes me want to go back for more.
They are usually busy during dinner time, but that is not a concern because the restaurant has enough seating inside. The servers are normally nice, other then the few unlucky times you get a grumpy one. Servers give whatever you request, and the food comes out quickly. Food has enough flavour and the portions are huge. They have a great late night selection, and usually open till past midnight. There is enough parking in the front but when it is busy you might have to find street parking. Nothing negative, most positive!
YUM!. Crab fried with egg yolk, steamed chicken with ginger and spring onions, squid, clams, sweet and sour pork...to many to name. Go also for late night snack as you get free congee when you order $20 or more.

Choose your own adventure. I've been here at least 5-6 times now. My dad loves this place and will come out all the way from White Rock for it. I've always enjoyed the food here with family and friends on a late night. Be aware that there are two menus: a white menu and a Chinese menu. The Chinese menu has a much more extensive selection for those who want their chicken feet and pork entrails stewed with the mysterious roots.
The beef briskets here are awesome. Braised in a wonderful sauce and the briskets melt in your mouth every time. Their fried noodles are another usual favourite, as are the pea tips in chicken stock. One time we had their Golden Crab or some such dish, one of their signature creations. It's crab baked in a crust of salty egg yolk. Very tasty. And in the end, we're never dying of thirst from MSG so for us this is a good sign.
The feel is like a typical Hong Kong style family restaurant. A little tight; not entirely spotless but just enough stains to make it feel like a popular Cantonese eatery; and no-nonsense direct but nice staff.
Better than expected. Tried a set lunch w. soup & drink - the oxtail in red wine sauce was nice. The oxtail was very tender but not over-cooked.
A bit disappointed that they had only 1 kind of soup, the white creamy one, and it was a bit cold. I like the Silver Tower Cafe at Richmond more - they offered 3 kinds of soup (red, white, and Chinese).
The Cold Lemon Tea was quite good.
Great! When we first got here, I wasn't sure what to expect. This restaurant isn't very fancy in appearance. We were here because my father-in-law saw that it had made a top voice on tv. Good news, the food is fantastic. Good sized portions, and every dish was so good! They weren't skimping on any ingredient, the seafood was cooked to perfection, and not salty. Everyone was impressed, and talking about when to go here again on the drive home.

Cheap great food, but has disappointing service during rush hour.. Most likely due to the fact that it was what was seemingly a rush hour, since all the waiters/waitresses seemed to be running around everywhere and the restaurant was full. Anyways...
My experience to Ken's Chinese Restaurant was unpleasant, but forgivable for the excellent food. What you would expect, a mere 20 minute wait... As soon as I was seated and handed the menu. I made up my mind, and I flagged three waitresses, they all told me that they'll come back to take my order. I found that as extremely bad service, THREE waitresses couldn't take my order, finally what was seemed to be the manager came and took my order.
Suprisingly, all three of my entrees came, but my iced milk tea came after all of my entrees came and my family was already half way finished. I also witnessed a few complaints to the waitresses, not wanting to give the waitress more grief, I just let that part go.
The food is excellent, well proportioned for a great price. I will most definitely come here again even after experiencing such disappointing service. Recommended.
Good for fast Chinese food. It's like Hon's except cleaner. Would come again if i'm in the neighborhood

My Kingsway confession is that every time I pass Kingsway, I always take a peek at Star Anise to see how busy the restaurant is. BF calls it a little person's move, but honestly I do it out of curiosity. I remember our dim sum visit at Star Anise, the restaurant had a good amount of 3-5 seated tables. I guess as people learned that their food does not taste so great, no revisits happened. Every time I pass Star Anise including weekends, there is really only one or two seated tables (dinner time)! Hopefully no one ordered their chinese pepper and hot water ginseng soup like us. Anyways, continuing with the interest of finding "meh" kind of Chinese restaurants, BF suggests Ken's Kitchen. Chinese BBQ? YUMM, delicious fatty meats! Huh? Ken's Chinese? Thought we were going to Ken's Kitchen… I guess there was a slight confusion on my part. Ken's Chinese Restaurant serves Hong Kong style cafe cuisine as well as the usual Chinese dishes, and seafood. The restaurant is pretty clean, spacious
I had never been to Ken's (the chef pictured above) and was satisfied by most of the dishes. Everything was well prepared and authentic with a few unique signature dishes standing out.
