Review Sushi Hachi - Vancouver

Sashimi is very fresh. Toro is almost to die for. The mango roll is very delicious as well. Nice gem in Kerrisdale. Friendly owner and good take out menu. Will visit again.

Love the sushi here. Lunch menu is varied and only 6.99 for two choices. Eat there often and always greeted with a smile. Service great food really good and large servings

Very friendly staff, and quick service. I have only ever taken out and when I’ve been it has not been peak service times so I got my order in under 10 minutes. Good value for money. Lots of space to sit in and has good people watching window seats at the front. A few vegetarian options that are very tasty.

Went for lunch. Huge lunch box. Freshest dynamite roll. Tempura assortment was unique and super light. Portions were very good too. All around amazing sushi. Definitely coming And telling people

Super fast service, low prices and excellent food

Their lunch deals are quite reasonable, and the sushi I had was tasty and fresh. The spicy tuna roll was great! I'll definitely be back.

Stoped in, not knowing anything about this joint. The yam tempura roll and dynamite roll were fantastic and fresh. Still crispy tempura. Definitely coming back. Food and service was pleasant and exceeded expectations.

Okay sushi. But their lunch specials are one of the best in the neighborhood. Reasonably priced and in good sized portions. Very friendly people too.

Great value for lunch special . I am amazed at the quality and freshness. I like that they charge extra for farmed Atlantic salmon substituted for the usual sockeye.

Nothing fancy but great quality for the price. Best value sushi in Kerrisdale in my opinion. Great service and very efficient. Recommend!

Prompt, friendly service. Good sushi. The bento boxes have really large portions.

The best Yam rolls in town! Delicious....very reasonably priced, food is excellent! I am a regular customer....

Cheap sushi that's quite decent. Kimchi chicken hotpot is tasty and wholesome. Korean sushi fusion I suppose.

The fish is quite good. Not the best I've had, but not disappointing. The miso soup was a bit disappointing.

The service is 5 stars, the food to price ratio is about 3.5 stars
Hitting The Sauce
L ordered a sushi combo with sashimi and nigiri. I ate the scallop and roe sushi. Both were a bit fishy, but the proportion was right. He said the sashimi was okay.

Decor is more like a fast food place. The yam roll was warm and freshly fried but bit greasy. California roll was a crab stick, slice avocado and slice cucumber inside a rice roll. Not fresh crab and mayo salad. Portions are big for the price. Not for the flavors though.

Decent.... It is what it is. Typical cheap sushi spot... service isn't great, but you get what you need. I almost always just get take-out... they do a really good agedashi tofu, and, even better, a tempura tofu, which is similar to the agedashi tofu but in a tempura batter. Either way, you get at least 4x the portion for half the price of what Asa Sushi (across the street) gives you.

Some of the specialty rolls are good, and food comes out fast and hot.

Total delivery fail. I've been a loyal customer for years but tonight that all changed, when I waited almost two hours for a delivery that never came. Not only did they fail to deliver my food, they had two opportunities to tell me they would not be able to deliver tonight (presumably because they have no driver), both when I placed the order and when I called almost an hour later to ask about the order. Instead of being honest and suggesting I pick up (which I would have readily done), they compelled me to order from someone else - Shota - who will be getting all my business from now on.

Our go-to Sushi Place. This is our go-to sushi place. Sometimes we eat in and sometimes we eat out. Their prices are fair and the quality has always been good. The service has been decent. I'd recommend this to anyone in the area. It's not high-end, but for a family meal it's great. The mango roll is fantastic. So is the teriyaki chicken dinner.

Decent quality and fair prices. I usually get a bunch of rolls here. service is decent as is the food and pricing. my only issue is the parking in central kerrisdale. I could park in the free section and walk that block but... I don't.

Great lunch spot. Always great food!

Picked 2 items from their $6.95 lunch menu. Beef teriyaki rolls and curry chicken cause its te only item that came with rice. Their curry chicken was so gross! No taste, just felt like it was blanched in hot water and then coated with curry sauce, tossed in with some frozen corn, peas, and carrots. Sigh, too bad.
Love To Dine Out
Consistent and delicious. I'm surprised to read the unfavourable reviews here. Have been eating here once a week for the last year and find this to be an excellect sushi place in every respect, except perhaps ambience. I have tried all the other sushi places in the surrounding area and, while their menus are more exotic, perhaps, I always go back to Sushi Hachi for the delicious sushi, generous servings, good prices and prompt friendly service. Best yam and dynamite rolls anywhere.

Gone Downhill. I used to frequent Hachi whenever I was in the area. The food was fresh and delicious but now it's completely different. This place has gone downhill completely. The quality of the food is just not how it used to be. Not sure if owners have changed hands or what but it's a real shame.

Bad as expected. They were disorganized and the food wasn't delish. Went with a girl who wanted to eat oriental and didnt like it at all. The service was grudging
Famished Foodies
Time and again we return here for our take-out sushi fix. A combination of variety, prices, good quality food, and accommodation of special orders, makes it a natural choice. Sure when we want a higher level of sushi we go elsewhere, but for reliable solid sushi, this is the place. When we do eat in, the service and decor are fine.

How do they stay in business!. Of the handful of times I've eaten there, only several times have been even mildly acceptable. The staff exemplifies the unfortunate attitude of youth today: surly, rude, self centered, not at all service oriented, comes to your table only twice: once to take your order, and once to bring you what you ordered. I had to get up and walk to the cashier each time I wanted more tea, or something added to the order, also to pay my bill. Each request is treated like a huge imposition. No one smiles. The place is messy, and if what you ordered is not to your liking, it will be your own tough luck, along with verbal abuse and no help at all from the Manager, some young punk with a huge, nasty ego. The quality of food is as lowbrow as the staff . Can't complain to the owner as he does not speak English! His wife does, apparently, but she is rarely and briefly ever there. The seem to be interested only in the money the place generates because they seem to have no control over their staff and don't seem to care about customer feedback. I intend to make sure no one I know will either go there or return there. I think the only thing that keeps them in business is their crummy little lunch hour special that looks like a good deal in print, but when it comes, is barely enough to feed a bird.

The rolls are massive and very filling. The fish tastes very fresh. Nice variety of fish in the Chirashi Don. Nice little place.

This is fresh tuna with cucumber threads and a spicy mayo in an inside-out roll, garnished with sesame seeds. This was just okay. The sushi rice was done right (not grainy, nor mushy), and the spicy tuna was decent enough.

The staff were all very friendly, smiley, and refilling our tea without having us to ask - something I really appreciate. The food is reasonably priced, but I still think they can do better in terms of quality and try to be a tad more authentic. I usually visit a place at least twice before I decide I won't go again because everyone deserves more than just one chance. However, considering that there are so many sushi places in the area, I'm not so sure.
there are many japanese restaurants in kerrisdale but only a few that are worth going. the seafood salad at a japanese eatery can say a lot about the overall quality, attention to detail, and value of their food in general. having tried all the japanese seafood salads in kerrisdale, here are my rankings from favorite to least favorite: (all take out) 1) ajisai sushi bar well-balanced salad. it was odd seeing tiny shrimps in my salad but they were surprisingly tasty. the dressing looked heavy and oily as it sat in the take out sauce container but it worked with the salad by carrying out an intriguing taste of sesame. 2) asa sushi i don't prefer their greens but they serve the most sashimi slices! 6 pieces of tuna and salmon each. 3) tokyo thyme the portion was small and there wasn't a lot of seafood. i can't recall the dressing but i remember not liking it. 4) shota sushi & grill this tuna salad only had 3 pieces of semi-frozen tuna and really expensive for what it is. the sesame/citrus
