The chef at Sushilano is a pure professional with nothing but love for his guests. If you get real Japanese sushi, you will be thoroughly satisfied. I wish I knew their names, but the woman and man usually here are great! I highly recommend this relatively unfrequented place!
Fresh and tasty sushi in town!. I have been to this little sushi place on several occasions, and have never been disappointed! The rolls and sashimi always taste fresh and very tasty! They have many specialty rolls that most expensive restaurant have but with cheaper prices. The presentation with the rolls and their special wasabi mayo sauce makes it all a very quality and delightful experience. I have taken friends here before and they have all enjoyed it so much! I have ate at many sushi restaurants in town and my taste buds have been rather spoiled, but I would say this place has value and quality, def one of the best sushi restaurants I have ever been to!
The couple who owns this place are really nice people, whenever I ask for extra ginger or wasabi, they have never charged me extra for it.
Fantastic Sushi and great service!!!. I have eaten sushi all over this city and by that token have become accustomed to a high quality product. Sushi lano did not disappoint. Moreover, the very personal service, care and attention that goes into the preparation is immediately noticeable. The quality of the fish is amongst the best I have ever tried and the prices are very reasonable. If you live in Vancouver make a point of stopping by Sushi lano and support a fantastic business, you will not be sorry you did.
I have been here twice both times for takeout. Food was excellent the first time. The last time sushi was good, teriyaki chicken a bit overlooked. Service is very friendly.
Amazing. Best unagi in the city, done in authentic Japanese way. Fresh rolls, perfect rice, quality ingredients.
AMAZING!. I am one of those people who can never get sick of sushi, and have had it since I was a little child. I have to say that this place is by far the best sushi restaurant I have ever been to! The service is absolutely fabulous, and the sushi is scrumptious! Normally the gourmet sushi rolls that they have here cost around $10-$12 minimum, but those expensive rainbow rolls and mango rolls that you have always wanted to try at other restaurants are now ranging between $5-$9!!! The quality of the sushi at this place really is worth more than it is priced at. If you are not a fan of big loud restaurants, this is just the place for you! It is a small peaceful little sushi hut with beautiful decor. THIS PLACE IS A DEFINITE MUST GO TO!
Our favorite place to go in kits! Super friendly and delicious sushi I love how much spicy tuna I get and my Gf loves the sauces. It can be a little slow sometimes but rainy days are perfect!
Great food quality. This little place is amazing. It's run by a friendly couple, and their sushi is some of the best in town. All the rolls are made fresh (the tempura is fried to go in dynamite rolls after you order etc), and the sashimi is usually fantastic. For people who are new to the place, I highly recommend the 'sashimi dinner box' as a great sampler.
The only draw back to this place is the speed. It really is only two people running the show, and the husband does all the food... this means it can be quite slow (specially if busy)! Order in advance if you're in a rush.
Love it!. This little restaurant in Kitsilano is one of the best Sushi restaurant I've ever visited. I especially like the teriyaki sauce they use for the donburi. The chicken breast is also very juicy and flavourful. The dish is decorated with colourful vegetables such as carrot, avocado, broccoli etc. They use only chicken breasts for chicken teriyaki don and it's still at a very affordable price. On top of the good sushi the atmosphere of the restaurant is very pleasing; it's warm, friendly and welcoming. The
restaurant owners are very generous and caring people. Every time I go to Sushilano they would give me a small dish of edamame while I wait for the food to be ready.
If you visit Sushilano you will see a lot of cards from their regular customers thanking them for the great food and service. I really like this place and I will definitely come here regularily!!
SOOOO GOOD!. Sushi Lano is an excellent restaurant! The service was great and the sushi was AWESOME! I am going to become a regular. The staff is very friendly, I had a wonderful time!
Run by a nice husband and wife team, this little places puts out fantastic sushi. A newer but welcomed addition. You can't really go wrong with anything here. Amazing quality for incredibly affordable prices; great value. Unlicensed so no sake or tall beer but a great spot for casual Japanese fare in a quaint spot on the westside.
Love the food there, yes service is minority slow but it's a small restaurant with 1 waitress who does a massive chunk of everything and 1 chef. I love it there ;)
A small restaurant with excellent food. First i would like to say that this restaurant is NOT FOR BIG GROUPS! there is only one sushi chef, who is by far is nicest person...and he can only do so much. He always make the sushi extremely presentable and fresh so really, you cannot rush sushi art. If you want big portions and cheap sushi, go to all you can eat. Be reasonable people, I'd like to see another sushi chef personally torch my unagi upon completing the assembly of my unagi roll.
OMG SO YUMMY!. Service is excellent, workers are so hospitable and friendly but most of all the food there is soooooo DELICIOUS! We tried a few of their specialty rolls like the crispy n crunch and the honeymoon rolls... *drooooooooool* the spicy tuna melts in your mouth and you can tell the food is made with love and care. It is a small tiny 'hole in the wall' restaurant and never would expect a place like that would produce such delicate yet hearty Japanese food. Prices are so reasonable, cheaper than most sushi places but you would think it was made at a specialty Japanese high class restaurant. If you haven't already, this place is DEFINITELY worth checking out! If there are no room for dine-in get take-out! Can't wait to make the trek out there again from Burnaby
The best of the best. This place is hands down one of the, if not the best sushi restaurant I have ever been to and I have a couple friends who own sushi restaurants themselves. The food quality is top notch, the taste is amazing and it is all prepared with care. The service is friendly and warm, like if your own mother prepared a meal for you. It is a small family owned place that has all the elegance, great taste and refined quality of a fancy high class restaurant without the pretentiousness of most places. From the moment you walk in to the time you leave, you feel welcome and appreciated. They have great rapport with all their customers and if you go there you'll know why. If you haven't been there yet then go. I drive from Burnaby and Coquitlam just to eat here!
When you run a small restaurant and one of your workers is sick and you can't get a replacement, what do you do? In the case of Sushi Lano, you remain calm, persevere and just do the best you can. We happened to visit on such a day, and other than service being very slow, everything else was enjoyable. We even got free food and a discount for having to wait so long!
Great food... Great people!. Sushi Lano is a small neighbourhood restaurant that has consistent quality food. The owner and the helpers are always trying their best to please their customers. I sometimes get a little extra as a thank-you treat especially if I have to wait for my food a bit longer than usual.
Eat in may be a bit crowded at the meal time. Take out is always the best option.
Amazing Sushi and Service. The best sushi I have had! I ordered the spicy tuna roll and tamago. Even though we came quite late at night (very close to closing time) the chef made the sushi with great attention to detail creating more a work of art than a sushi roll. I would recommend this restaurant to everyone!
