I’m writing this review because of Arman. He was kind, helpful and did everything with a smile (as someone that works in retail) it’s hard to stay positive at work. Celebrating him for this

Clean, stuffed and polite staff. Specially I enjoyed their bakery products. However the prices are bit higher than the others. Their special offers are reasonably priced.

Pretty good supermarket. Kind staff

Found the staff at the Starbucks to be especially great with their customers. Grab a coffee or tea and people watch. Found the Safeway staff to be quite helpful.

I give it 5 stars for recently lowering their prices on almost everything in the store. The prices are reasonable. The store is clean, the staff friendly and helpful and the line-ups are quick. I usually never have to wait in line for more than a few minutes even during busy times. They also have self check-outs which move pretty quickly as well and a starbucks inside the store.

Very nice kitchen supplies! Went to get a Teflon pan medium size and paid only 23$ for a good quality one. Their produce is fresh and tasty, especially the blueberries right now. Yum!

Walk down here often and the staff has always been nice. The place can be busy at times so better to go off peak hours if you can. The store is well kept and organized and has a pharmacy as well with friendly staff.

It's huge and has great selection, but the store layout is hard to figure out for new customers. The pharmacy and the ice cream are on the same aisle for some reason:) They no longer carry mothballs.

Great grocery store in the West End, friendly staff. The older security guard is awesome. Give the guy a raise.

More colorful , nice staff , with Starbucks inside , and a place for eatting inside the store .
Easy to find the items , with really good bakery service , if you need small portable BBQ fuel , you can find here , they have pharmacy inside .

What makes them stand out? Not the prices but the customer service. Safeway is a safe bet as fast as shopping experience goes. Your mid-range grocery store for downtown Vancouver: no frills < independent< safeway > choices > wholefoods.

Great big food store, selling fresh, frozen and everything in between food. Wide range of products and brands, also quite a few branded concessions inside, such as Starbucks. Time your visit well to avoid the crowds.

I've lived in this neighborhood for years and have numerous options for where to do my grocery shopping, but I've always prefered Safeway on Davie St.
They have a friendly and knowledgeable staff and good prices.
The place is a part of the community and I will be very sad when it closes at the end of August.

This Safeway location closed on August 31st. Sad to see it go after over 50 years in this location. Almost every building on the north side of Davie St from Jervis to Bidwell is slated for demolition, with one major tower at Jervis St already well under way. Three 116 year old houses were taken down to make way for this condo tower. Staff at Safeway did not know if a new store would return to the new development. Update - March 2021 A new larger Safeway has opened ( several months ago now) on the same site, with its own Starbucks and free underground parking. Entrance still at Davie and Cardero. The store is more up market than the old one. A BC Liquor store has also reopened just down the hill as before.

Smaller Safeway and usually not busy. Great place to stock up before a picnic at English Bay which is a block away. Has public washrooms if you were wondering.
