This is the most authentic Thai food I have had in a long time.
The Som Tam was exactly right.
A Thai restaurant that actually uses fish sauce. Who'd a thunk it would be right next to Kits Beach.

Awful, flavourless food. It was like they tossed some noodles in ketchup and called it pad thai. Left and got some good food down the street instead.

This is now on my list for one of my favorite places to get take out. They have a 8 dollar taxed in lunch specials everyday. I recommend the red beef curry extra spicy. Absolutely delicious and it comes with a spring roll. Head to the beach and eat!

The waitress really have a way to make you feel unwelcomed. There was another table that just left without ordering.<br/><br/>So if you can get over the resentful stare and "what do you want?". The food is pretty good. I liked the Thai style ox tail.

The previous reviewer is right. I got the rudest service I've ever gotten anywhere (I eat out a lot). Food wise it was actually good but portion was unusually small. Don't waste your time and money here, there are better options in this neighbourhood.

AVOID. ACTUALLY ASKS YOU TO TIP HER MORE.. I made an account just to write this review. Thai Star is the worst restaurant I've ever been to in Vancouver, period. <br/><br/>I got their combo 1 with chicken and cashews, and when it came to me, it was evident it was not authentic thai food. And if I didn't get the clue already from seeing my plate of food, I also overheard the owner/lady screaming in the back in cantonese. <br/><br/>And of course, the "thai food" tasted like what you could eat in any chinese household, except 10x greasier and less appetizing. If that wasn't bad enough, the cutlery were absolutely dirty and my glass of water had stains on it that I was afraid to drink it.<br/><br/>The service? The only time she came to the table was demanding us to order and coming to refill our waters which she is almost splashed on me since she slammed the cup down so roughly.<br/><br/>So food sucked, service pretty much sucked; I tipped her roughly 10% because as a server myself, I felt obligated to even when she didn't deserve it. HOWEVER, SHE ACTUALLY CAME BACK TO ME AND DEMANDED I PAY HER MORE TIPS. WTF. <br/><br/>Having also served, I will never, ever, ask a customer this, even if I provided great service and they didn't tip me. SHE ACTUALLY HARASSED ME FOR MORE TIPS AND WOULDN'T LET ME LEAVE UNTIL I DID.<br/><br/>If you want decent food, AVOID HERE OR MAY GOD HAVE MERCY ON YOUR SOULS.

BEST THAI in BC! Seriously I've eaten at fancy expensive Thai restaurants, and not one compares to this! For 15$ you get a choice of curry 2 chicken satays spring rolls salad rice and peanut sauce! All which are excellent! Service is so nice! I live in burnaby and come to kits just for this place. Stop reading this review and go eat there NOW

Oh god it's delicious. I ordered a combo for 2 and panang chicken, and expected to eat it in an hour. within 10 minutes of ordering, they were at my door. i couldn't tell what everything was; nor match it to my order, but i didn't care because it all smelled so delicious. the spicy items weren't overpowering, the sauces were excellent, and everything else was just plain delicious.<br/><br/>excellent service, excellent food, i'll be eating here more often.

Not good. Very cheap but has zero flavor. Not spicy at all. Pad Thai taste like plum sauce and is gross. Try a different place, I won't be going back.

Curry is great. Ordered the pad thai and Green Curry for takeout. The pad thai was alright, but the Curry was outstanding. Food was ready in less than 10 min. It's a great little thai place for the price.

A kitsilano must. Wow, after a day of moderate drinking this place really was a blessing in disguise. simply trying to find some thai around kits beach, we zero down on this joint, sit down right away and already know what to order. lunch specials were till 5 p.m. so we lucked out it being around 4:10. $3.50 pints of lager? ok sure. $8 pad thai with chicken tofu and shrimp, and at the same price a bowl of chicken green curry with peppers, it is done. both come out super fast and with 2 complimentary spring rolls as well. this spot had very tasty thai food, and was super convenient and quick, and the prices were unbeatable, must have been the cheapest thai food i have ever had.

Awesome Local Gem. I don't think I have ever written a restaurant review before but I really want this great little place to do well so I am sharing my love for their food and cute space with all of you! <br/>The food is de-lish. Take out is quick and eating in their brightly coloured intimate restaurant is fun too. I took a bunch of skeptics there, all of which weren't even big thai food people, and all four of us walked out having thoroughly enjoyed the food and service. My favourite dishes are the green curry and the chicken cashew. Spring rolls and chicken satay and lettuce wraps are also really good. Enjoy!

Not thai food!. The pad thai didn't look like pad thai.. and the food is not authentic thai food.. the waiters don't even know what it is made up of.. tastes good though.. and cheap

You will crave the red curry like you wouldn't believe!. Friendly staff, good prices and the food is awesome. I've spent a few months & my bf has spent more than that and we both feel like we're back there. I hear the pad that sucks but everything we've had is phenomenal! Try the:<br/>Red curry. Ohmigod. <br/>Any of the fried dishes - cashews, chili/basil: order w/ chicken!<br/>(and no, i don't own, I just LOVE)

I suspect all of the previous "rave reviews" were written by the restaurant owner. Bland, incredibly oily food. Definitely not impressed. Read reviews on sites like this with a healthy dose of skepticism and always remember that even real reviewers typically don't have the foggiest idea what constitutes superior cuisine.

Delicious Food. We found this little spot just after it opened up & keep going back. The food & service has been consistenly excellent. Great variety, good portions. Bc it's not that busy, it's a quiet place to grab a bite to eat. The combo meals are tasty & great value for money. I agree with previous revierer that the food tend to be on the spicey side, so ask for your preference when ordering.

Great little place, great service great value. Hi, just went to Thai Star last night and the value for your money is excellent. We ordered combination dinners A and B and they were really good sized portions for $10/$11. I don't think I've seen such good value anywhere else. The food was delicious, although a bit too spicy so maybe let them know to tone it down for you if you can't handle too much spice. <br/>Service was also fast and very helpful. We will definetely be going back!
