Outside of the Downtown Core, I’ve found the Donair places are surprisingly difficult to find…then it hit me. There’s one RIGHT across from Joyce Station that I’ve never ventured into for some reason! Nothing beats Shawarma and Donair on a cold night!.
Donair Land is a good Mediterranean quick bite restaurant located in the Renfrew-Collingwood area. It is located right next to Joyce skytrain station so if you're transiting, this is a quick stop for a meal on the way home.
The restaurant has ample seating so if you wanted to eat in, it is certainly an option. There is a large TV that plays sports so if you're dropping by, you could probably catch a game while you eat. However, I'm used to just taking out.
We came in pretty late at around 8:00PM but the restaurant still had some patrons dining in. The restaurant is well lit and looks clean. You can see their beef, lamb, and chicken cooking in their back on rotaters. We ordered a regular Beef Donair and a Chicken Platter.
The Beef Donair is quite big by itself. We had it with everything they offered and it tasted pretty good. We found a good amount of sauce and not too much so that it turns into mush at the end. There is a good amount of beef, lettuce, cucumbers, and tomatoes. Each bite had a good mix of all the ingredients involved. The veggies were fresh and provided a good crisp refreshing bite. The beef, however, was a bit bland and could use some more seasoning.
The Chicken Platter, like the Donair, is also quite big. We again opted to get everything including the spicy sauce. It comes with plain white rice, tabouli, hummus, and a pita bread. The sauces we got looked like Tzatziki, spicy, and garlic sauce. The chicken was good though again it was a bit on the bland side. The hummus tasted pretty standard and tasted just like a store bought brand. The tabouli had a lot of cucumbers and also some green peppers which is different from what we're used to. It tasted great and was quite refreshing. The rice was quite a bit overcooked and some parts basically mushed together as a clump.
The service was good from the cashier that helped serve us. She was friendly and enthusiastic. Overall we thought this was a good experience though it did not blow us away. Perhaps it was because we arrived late that some of the food was overcooked. We'll likely return to give this place another shot.
Nice and clean place to eat and very fast with a very good customer service.i was also so impress to the lady who is always working there.she always easily recognise people and remember orders as soon as customers come...making the food so quick with a smile on her face.
I've eaten here many times and always come back. It's delicious and very convenient. Plus the guy who works there reminds me of Steven Segal so that's always a plus!
Hit or miss depending on who is working. Great donair when the bigger guy with ponytail is working(i think he's the owner)
anybody else it can be hit or miss with not enough meat, not enough sauce or both.
Chicken is my favourite, the other meats are very salty even for me who generally likes salty.
Om nom. Best donairs in the lower mainland, hands down. It's pretty clean inside, and the service is quick and good. The chicken donair is AWESOME. So saucy!
The place looks good and is well kept. There are plenty of chairs and tables to sit and eat along with a flat screen TV.
Food wise the menu is good and the donairs are tasty. For me it's close and for $6 a get a fresh meal
Delicious fresh ingredients. Falafel is my favorite. My wife loves the chicken. Always very clean inside with sports on the tv. Great prices, comvienient, fast, what more could you ask for.
Price is right and the food is always delicious! I especially love the platter with all the sauces. The owner always has a smile on his face and the place is clean-you can tell they have pride in their restaurant.
Convenient! Delicious!. I decided to try this place based on how welcoming the store front was. It was clean, well lit, and looked like a respectable establishment. Also, it was right outside of Joyce Skytrain Station.
The owners were very nice, and the place looked good (they have a flat screen TV!). I had an Original Chicken Shawarma wrap, very good and was packed full of meat.
Give this place a try.
