Great taste, flavorful vibrant food. Great portions, friendly service and a hidden gem at the bottom of fraser street. A must-try in my opinion. Nearly cleaned our plates bit we were too full!
I picked my wife up after work after working a double and she was hungry. We drove by this place and it was her choice before going home to bed. The food and service were great. This place is one of our favourites and if in the area again we'd go back.
I work in the area from time to time and had been meaning to come in and try the food. It was very good. There was a lot of flavours, and the chicken wasn't dry. I had the Chicken Tikka Masala and my husband had the Chicken Talfrazie. 2 minor negative points. The amount of rice that we ordered was a bit on the small side and I requested plain naan bread and we got garlic naan and was charged according (the wait staff need to listen a bit more).
We ordered the chicken tandoori, lamb biryani, and aloo paratha. The latter, stuffed with potatoes and peas, was very satisfying. The lamb biryani was flavorful with tender pieces of lamb, according to my wife. I thought it was a bit bland and lacked ingredients. The tandoori chicken was not exactly disappointing, but was not what we expected. The chicken was baked on its own, and the sauce came in a separate dish, resulting in chicken that was not flavored to our liking. We might come back in the future to try other things.

I had a number of ideas on where to go, but figured I’d let them pick the venue since they’re quite the foodies as well and may know of some hidden gems. Beavis texted me in the afternoon suggesting Original Tandoori Kitchen which he believed was the successor to the former Original Tandoori King along Fraser which burned down a while back. I actually grew up right on Main and 45th when I was in elementary school and lived just a few blocks away from Beavis some 25 years ago, so it was fitting that we decided to go for dinner right near our childhood homes. We walked in on a beautiful sunny Monday evening around 7PM. It seemed like this place was a favourite of both Beavis and Pretzel Monster since they’d been there quite a few times before, though they mentioned that this was the first time actually dining in. They normally get take out and commented on the fact that there’s always piles of bags waiting to be picked up from others, so this was a new experience for them as well. I immediately got a mom and pop type vibe upon walking in, though the restaurant was quite a bit bigger than you’d expect. We were greeted by an older lady wearing a traditional East Indian dress (saree?) who took us to our table. The place was nearly completely empty with the exception of a single other table already seated, and just one other couple coming in later on in the evening. The menu consisted of your usual vegetarian, chicken, beef, lamb, goat and seafood Indian curries. They also had a section dedicated to tandooris as you’d expect, given their restaurant name and all. They had a separate menu for alcohol as well with your basic domestic beers, and a single Indian beer. Beavis and I decided the only
Great Delivery. We ordered delivery from here, we were very impressed. The grilled meats dish was sooo tasty! You could tell they used great ingredients and fresh spices. The menu was well priced and seemed healthy enough, yoghurt instead of cream. This is definitely where we'll order Indian food from now on.
Less than authentic feel with the vary staid decor, but food was great! I've had better Butter Chicken, but their Naan bread was THE best I've had.
Very good Indian restaurant. Attention: This restaurant has relocated to a new location Main Street.
The restaurant's seating is very comfortable and the newly renovated interior makes a lovely dining experience.
The food is authentic and delicious, just what I expect from Indian food in one of the most ethnic neighbourhoods in Vancouver. The vindaloos and butter chicken are highly recommended. As well, the mango lassi is great (kick up the spice factor a notch and compensate with this delicious drink). My friends and I LOVE the pulao rice to go with the curries (don't settle with white rice!)
Water is always refilled and the staff constantly check to see if everything is okay.
Best restaurent for Butter Chicken and Shahee Paneer. No competition in Vancouver!
Hidden Gem. OK so the decor is a little much but the food is awesome! It is the best Indian food in town and I'm even comparing it to Mayra's (sp?) on Broadway. We have tried many different Indian restaurants and nothing even comes close and they have the best Butter chicken hands down. We have taken so many ppl to the restaurant and they all agree that they have the best Butte Chicken. The Lamb Korma is another fav.
