My favourite dish of this place is Shanghai Style Thick Noodles, Their price are very reasonable. I deduct one star for service as i need to wait bit long for my order.
we had dinn. for 4 the food is to die for I have lived in kits for 50 years and used to order from the place on dunbar "S"no more!!Connies food is fresh and very tasty 0 fat on the pork dishes and tender THE BEST ON WEST SIDE reasonable prices
I would order food from here once in a while when I use to work in Kitsilano. They advertise no MSG in all their food. They have a lunch special menu that's a really good deal. The food comes with rice unless it's already a rice dish like fried rice or noodles. You also get to pick 1 out of 2 types of soup to go with your meal. Food is not bad and the price is good for what you get.
Ordered take out off of their lunch special menu. Great quality and portion at a great price! The waitress who helped me was very friendly.
Simple but amazing place ! Nice food, I think it is to much for one . Most of the dishes are meant to be eaten by groups . Surprisingly it was not crowded . But the array of food across the few tables that were occupied seemed delicious .. And so was my table . Every thing we ordered was amazing .
Great Food, terrible service.. The food is absolutely fantastic. There are lots of crunchy, fresh vegetables and the ginger beef is AMAZING. Unfortunate, their service misses the mark. On at least four different occasions, the ladies running the cash register have made condescending comments about how much food has been ordered. Firstly, although I may be picking up the food alone, surely I'm not eating 4-5 dishes by myself. Secondly, their job is to provide delicious food. I can do without a commentary on my friend's and family's eating habits. We will be returning to Connies but I will not longer be the one who picks up the order as I find their interactions with customers to be rude and insulting.
AWESOME FOOD. Best Chinese food I've had - definitely try it!!
I'm not typically a huge Chinese food person, but Connie's is far above average. Super fresh and tons of flavour. Finally, my girlfriend and I can agree to have Chinese, if we go to Connie's. We also drive half an hour to get there and it's totally worth the drive.
Fast service and friendly. Good size portions. Could tell the mushrooms were fresh and was not the can stuff. all the veggies was excellent and rhe pork dish and beef and shrimp dish were great.
Great chinese take-out. We love this place.. we always order take-out but the food is always fast and consistently good. They have great lunch specials (lots of food for the price) and the staff is always friendly! Some of my favorites are the Mongolian beef, Chicken with mixed veg and the chicken with mixed veg chow mein.
Good portions, almost took all of it home.enjoyed the black bean egghplant dish. Would get take out from here next time, not really a great sit down meal.
Popped in for a take out and was pleasantly surprised when I brought my meal home. Huge portions that were tasty and fresh! I would definitely give this place 2 thumbs up based on food quality.
Fresh ingredients, not outstanding. People seem to love Connie's, based on the reviews. While I don't DIS-like it, I didn't find it to be all that special. The kung "po" (sic) chicken and prawns with black bean sauce had good meat, not mushy or skimpy portions. My wife was impressed with the freshness of the shrimp.
The vegetables, especially the green peppers and zucchini, were cut in large-ish chunks, though. I have always thought this was the sign of a lazy cook, because it's less trouble to chop things big than it is to dice finer. Again, no quibble with the quality of the ingredients; just to me, it shows a lack of finesse.
It's hard to make bog-standard dishes like these outstanding, because they're so "everywhere." For me, Connie's is just another part of the Chinese horde. I suppose if I want something that's a notch above average, I'll have to go to Bao Bei.
Nice Service and food. Being a exchange student of UBC, i am already tired of the horrible food in UBC. As a student from HK, I am really picky about food. But connie's cookhouse is a great place to go. I ordered hot squid with rice and hot and sour soup. Food is in general good, especially considering it's only $6.75 for such a big dish. Not salty, and 90% sure it has no MSG.Nice environmonet and service, so i give more than 10% tips.
Best chinese takeout in Kitsilano. Connie's uses good ingredients, has an interesting menu, and everyone there is friendly. If you order to take away, and then come pick it up, they'll usually give you a carton of tasty soup for free. Hooray!
Connie's is Great. Good Chinese food, portions and good prices. Connie is a gracious host.
Excellent all around. I've never been disappointed with the quality of food or service from Connie's. Even David Suzuki eats here on a regular occasion!! Lunch is great value as well.
The food came out really hot and it tasted fresh, so I didn’t get the vibe that it was just sitting pre-made in the back. The portion here is pretty big, but not so excessively large that you can’t finish it. There was a decent amount of chicken in the dish and the pieces were large and juicy. The green beans were good, although I prefer them a bit more blackened on the outside
...Connie's Cook House deserves, the rating yummy and sits well in my stomach.
Connie's Cookhouse is now one of my favourite Chinese restaurants in Vancouver and that says a lot. It's a small place on West 4th with a mellow atmosphere and very friendly staff; that also says a great a deal since most staff at Chinese restaurants aren't very happy people. One thing that really impressed me about this place was the service. Our orders arrived in the time it took you to read this sentence. Literal

Vancouver is 17% Chinese. Its nearby suburb of Richmond is something like 40% Chinese (59% immigrant, and the source says that the majority are from Hong Kong, Taiwan and China). So you can get Chinese food in pretty much the same variet
