I have yet to try something I did not like here. The Dublin fog and their breakfast menus are excellent and taste so delicious! Staff are friendly and helpful! 😊

Salty tongue cafe is a very nice cafe and the ambiance of this cafe is vibrant and really beautiful.the prices are also very reasonable and the food is tasty and delicious served with a smile by their staff

While the food is adequate, the quality control us pretty pathetic. One out of every two to three visits I was given an incorrect or incomplete order. I've received bacon sandwich with no bacon. Ive been given aTurkey sandwich with no Turkey. They are also conspicuously slow with their service. I generally overlooked these issues as their location was convenient and the food hit the spot. I have however personally hit my breaking point and I wont be returning there.

Lost my business will not go back. After an unfortunate experience at Salty Tongue I will no longer be giving them my business. It was during a busy lunch hour where I experienced the management being verbally abusive towards a hard working staff member. This is unacceptable and unprofessional. When I asked the staff member who that was yelling at them they stated it was the owner. I was disgusted and I felt awful for the staff and for the customers.

Poor Quality. Waited 15 minutes for a $8 sandwich made of wonder bread and low quality ingredients. With so many other amazing sandwich places in the neighborhood, will not eat here again.

Rude staff and below average food and everything is always sold out. Will not be back here ever again !

Really Disappointed. My husband & I ended up at the Salty Tongue because Meat & Bread was lined up out the door. There were only 2 other customers at Salty Tongue, which should have set off warning bells, but we were hungry. I ordered the Ham & Brie panini, and the girl asked me if I would like ketchup or hp sauce, and I thought maybe it was for fries, so I said ketchup. My husband ordered the Sausage & Vegetable soup, which was lukewarm, tasted mediocre and came with really stale bread.
My sandwich was mostly stale focaccia (really stale) that I could hardly taste the ham, brie, three 3" pieces of grilled onions, two paper thin slices of cucumber. It came with potato chips, so I'm not sure why I was asked if I wanted ketchup or hp sauce. It was so disappointing, I only ate 1/2 the sandwhich, barely got through it despite my hunger, took the other half to go and gave it to a nice man asking for change. He was thankful.

Going Downhill. I used to really enjoy salty tongue and often bought my lunches there. Over the past few months I have been increasingly disappointed with my sandwiches. The bread has been stale and the turkey very dry. My sandwiches have been slopily thrown together and often not cut in half. I'm disappointed as this used to be my favourite go to lunch spot but at around $8 a sandwich I expect a little better.

I work in gastown and go to salty tongue all the time. Every single time the person at cash is not warm and they take super long. Then ... The coffee takes a while and food preparation takes sooooooooooo long too. It sucks because the food is great haha but I'm bummed every time because it took an hour. And I don't expect mcdonalds speed I just am impatient.

Fun lunch spot. Had a tasty meatball sub here for lunch today. The Sammy was really tasty, with a nice sprinkle of cheese and some chopped basil. I also had a latte (they use Stumptown beans), which was competently prepared.

A couple of notes: the counter staff were really helpful, and though there was a crowd waiting for their food when I arrived, the kitchen was flying and I got my lunch about 5 mins after ordering it. The long table was full of other people dining solo, like me, but it didn't feel like a cafeteria and I didn't feel like I needed to leave as soon as I was finished. I also liked that the order counter was by the front door, and the tables for eating in were behind a glass wall towards the back of the restaurant.

Friendly service staff. Decent coffee. Good sandwiches. I go by here quite a bit because i work in the neighborhood. There are always different sandwich, soup and salads daily, which i enjoy because it never gets old. Sometimes the daily special is a miss, but for the most part its good.

Disappointing. Nice looking space but nothing special about the food..I went here for lunch and ordered a sandwich..it too about fifteen minutes to get my panini. Sandwich was very average for the price. The thing I dislike most about this place is there "commune" table. So overdone in Vancouver it seems. I don't like sitting next to people i don't even know unless I am in a pub or something -- awesome having people one foot away listening to my conversation. Won't be back..

With a little work, will be great. I've been going to the Salty for a while now - it's a great spot to grab lunch in the Gastown area. The food is overall pretty good, and their coffee-type-drinks are great quality.

They've got a lot of good things going for them (the setting, food, etc.), but they're not quite out of the ballpark yet.
For one, they're very inconsistent. It's not uncommon to get wrong order, or wait for what seems to be a little too long (busy or not).

They're definitely working out the kinks and they're eager to make it better than it is. I've seen Salty go through changes they've implemented, such as more specific custom sandwich sheets. I think once they get all the kinks ironed, this place will really hit the mark.

OUCH!. Good first: the place looks great and had a great setup with a massive table the length of the restaurant. It feels like you're back in higshcool at the lunch table.
now for the bad, the cashier/barista had an awful attitude and was extremely rude. The machiatto was way overheated and burnt my tongue, which is a total waste of the great coffee they brew there. a double burn...
I have heard that other people really really love this place and I may have came on an off day, but I was not impressed at all.
There Is Always Room
The counter staff were polite and helpful with describing the menu since it wasn't on the board. The food came with plenty of time for me to eat and walk back to the office.

Whatever the reason, I have been a slave to the meatloaf for my entire life. What I like about this spot is that you can add pretty much anything you want to your sandwich before you grill it.

The focus of the Tongue is a 40-ft communal table composed from wood salvaged from the building's original support beams. This table becomes the gastropub's dining room at 5pm and is home of the Long Table Series. All of the rooms are ‘authentic’ and comf

I was hesitant to write this post, because well…like most people, I am not eager to show my areas of weakness.

I went to Salty Tongue Cafe (213 Carrall Street) and was pleased to find yet another affordable but “something different” / “check this place out!” cafe in Gastown. Although the cafe-front is fairly small (but not tiny), with the blue and white Salty Tong
