Adelitas has fresh Mexican food. The food is great, and there are house made sauces. It is located on the same premises of El Caracol Mexican Cafe; you can decide for yourself which you like better.
My husband and I stopped in on a whim and were very happy with the service and the food. I would say they serve authentic mexican food, not Tex-Mex or Cal-Mex. It is a refreshing change. We will be back and as we live in the area we can walk there
I am definitely going back and bringing more friends to this delicious spot. My wife and I loved everything about it. Worth it and buy the hot sauce.
There was alot of mixed reviews here. I took a shot at it. Since I wad passing by with my dog and girlfriend, we decided to sit on the patio with shade. Good start. I noticed a taco special on their board, I got it with pork. Then my girlfriend ordered the chimichanga and pulled pork fajitas. The rice is fluffy with bite, all dente... Perfect. The refried beans, wonderful acidity. Tacos were a touch dry but that's ok, I fell in love with the spicy tomatio condiment and kept loading that onto the taco. Loved the spice. The chimichanga was the highlight. Soft, fluffy, fresh, aromatic, lovely comforting flavors. The fajitas were vibrant in flavors. Overall we had a great experience. The service from our lady, perhaps the owner, incredible. Very accomodating. I would come back again.
After hosting a “Mexican Jesus Party” (long story short: we pulled the Jesus figurine out of a cake during a Mexican Christmas party, and as a result, were asked to host the next party.) we decided to follow the night up with some authentic Mexican food. And after a quick search on google we found ourselves here. We were excited by the authentically designed sign driving by. (I thought I took a photo of it, but I guess I didn’t hit the button hard enough.) It was of a woman in traditional Mexican ware and patterns. It was a newer sign, indicating the place was well kept up, despite its smaller size and traffic. And we were even more optimistic when we entered to see a family of Mexican mothers and their children speaking in Spanish as they nibbled on what remained of their meal. We wanted authentic and not fast food or tex-mex Mexican, and we definitely got it here.
This little restaurant consistently makes the freshest, most delicious Nachos I've ever had. They are INCREDIBLE.
Fresh tortilla chips, very generous amounts of avocado, diced tomato, cheese, refried beans and more. Clearly made with passion.
Can't help but like it. There were three tables of twosomes when we arrived. One was in the midst of eating, one was already done and one waiting for their food. It still took longer than it ought to for us to get our orders. However, I appreciated that they brought out the kid's order first in reasonable time. A while later, our second order came out, then a while after that, the third. By this time I was somewhat irritated. I find timing dishes one of the most challenging aspect of cooking so when I'm paying supposed professionals to cook, I expect them to time things better than I can!
So I was predisposed to be negative about my carnitas enchilada with red sauce and indeed, upon the first taste of the first bite I started to think "I don't like it". But before I could complete the thought, it had already morphed into... this is rather tasty! The tender carnitas had good flavor and the red sauce was savoury with a nice bit of heat that didn't overpower. There was a generous amount of sauce and the three enchiladas were topped with crisp fresh shredded lettuce and perfect drizzle of sour cream.
Refried beans and rice were served on the side. I thought the first bite of rice bland but, again, as I completed the bite, I changed my mind and noticed a smooth saltiness to it that was hard to describe but was tasty. I'm a big sauce person and normally I would have dumped the rice into the enchilada sauce but I found myself not wanting to cover up the rice flavor. By this point, I realized my quickly changing opinions had to do with the distinctive tastiness of the food. That first bite is a bit of a surprise, leading to that common human instinctual response of rejecting the unexpected (thanks to our cavemen ancestors learning that 'different' or 'new' can often be dangerous). Thankfully, my modernly developed brain quickly recognized that the Adelitas 'different' is yummy and good. With this understanding, I dug into the refried beans but after several bites, I had to acknowledge that this time, the 'different' just isn't my thing. The beans weren't bad, but its distinctive flavor just ain't my thing.
Had a bite of the shredded beef burrito and I didn't care for it. Again, the beef had a distinctive taste, reminded me of sausage somewhat and it didn't seem to be great quality beef. Definitely happy I ordered carnitas.
Kid's chicken and cheese soft tacos was piled with hearty portion of chicken and a bit of cheese. Kid's chicken quesadilla had a more generous serving of cheese and was hotter overall. Both dishes were proclaimed tasty.
The restaurant menu didn't show any drink options but I noticed the takeout menu had a whole section of juices, smoothies, pop, etc.
Only one young lady serving but she was friendly and efficient. There appeared to be two people in the kitchen. The place is small (4 tables for 4, 2 tables for 2) and it is definitely hard to find. We only found it because we had the exact address as it wasn't recognizable as a restaurant from the outside. Note they only take cash or debit.
Vegetarian Burrito Combo. Super yummy!
Great food and the prices are cheap, but the service stinks. Ability to speak Spanish would come in handy if you wanna try this place out.
Amazing Mexican food! Easily the best in Vancouver :)
Awesome! Authentic! Had th.... Awesome! Authentic!
Had the chicken with mole and the chicken tamale.
Amazing. Great new look. Great Food, great prices, friendly staff.
A place were i am going to keep coming over and over again and invite my friends and family.
My Mexico vacation on Victoria Dr. I love this place. Had some Gorditas with a Corona today and felt like I was in Mexico (minus the beaches)...one of the few hot sunny days in Vancouver. The server here is always friendly but sometimes you have to pull information out of her. Food is authentic and freshly made - you can see the chef in the kitchen. The sauces are all home made. Everything is understated - from the sparse wall art to the tupperware containers the sauces are served in, but I feel it just adds a bit to the charm. It's not overdone like so many Mexican restaurants are where they make a mini-Mexico "themed" restaurant. Don't go here for that. Go here for great food and great prices and friendly staff. I'll keep going back.
The name change to adelitas restaurant, & the address is 5178 Victoria Dr, good Mexican food
Good prices, good food. Restaurant needs a make over badly !
The chile relleno was stuffed with cheese and veg and fried up and smothered in a red sauce that had just enough flavor to satisfy. The batter did succumb to the tomatoey elements and become a little soggy but overall a well -executed plate.
Looking for some authentic Salvadorian cheap eats?? El Caracolito is serving up hot n’fresh papusas all day and late into the night! Yup, they open till 11pm on most nights. Perfect for those late night cravings. The exterior is kinda of dingy looking but don’t be fooled; they serve up everything Mexican FRESH.
...absolutely delicious and so refreshing on a hot summer day: creamy, spicy and aromatic.
