We came to Truffles Fine Foods Cafe on a gloomy spring evening, but it looked cozy and inviting inside this hip spot on Davie street.  The interior is not big but feels rather spacious with the elegant white tiled walls and natural wood flooring. The decors are chic and stylish, and they even have a wall of celebrity visitors with names like Zac Efron and Reese Witherspoon.

My Cappuccino was warm and comforting, and I noticed that they serve the coffee by JJ Bean. And we shared 3 truffles (3 for $5), dark chocolate, white chocolate, and hazelnut. They were tasty, and very much reminded me the chocolate truffles I sampled not too long ago at ChocolaTas on Granville Island.

They also have a great selection of fine deli food such as soups, salads, sandwiches, and baked goods. And I would definitely keep this place in mind next time if I’m going on a romantic date in the area.

Truffles Fine Foods started out as a catering company for the Vancouver film scene.  They soon gained a solid reputation for being able to handle the demanding and high-pressure requirements of catering to movie sets and film stars.  Truffles Fine Foods expanded to serving at private events like weddings and then proceededto  opening cafes under their own name.  They currently have three cafes in Vancouver: Van Dusen Gardens, Downtown Vancouver, and New Westminster.

Earlier this year I developed a penchant for a cute little cafe called Vivanty's near my work place that serves up unique and fresh salads and soups. So ever since then, I've been on the hunt for similar places in Vancouver that offer light and fresh meal options, and boy have I found a good one! Originating as a catering service for film crews and casts, Truffles Fine Foods has recently opened up a cafe on Davie St. in Downtown Vancouver (and another location soon at the Anvil Center in New Westminster). I visited the place a while back and today I want to share with you some of the things I nommed.......

There’d been a sign on the corner of Davie and Howe for more than a month advertising a Truffles Fine Foods Cafe coming soon. The Italian lives just across the street from here and informed me on the weekend that they finally opened their doors and he tried them out and enjoyed their foods. With the sun continuing to shine I once again found myself walking home after work and decided to stop by and see if he was right. Having done a bit of research before visiting I realized they actually have a few locations around Metro Vancouver. I walked in and it looked like a fairly modern cafe with a few extra odds and ends. I was greeted by a very friendly and eager man working the counter. When I mentioned I was just looking he was more than happy to tell me about some of his favourites and a bit more about the company. It seems they’re primarily a catering company that work with weddings, corporate events, and film/TV sets but are slowly ramping up their store fronts as well. Near the cashier they have a display case with a number of sandwiches, salads and pastries while off to the side was a heat lamp with their daily fresh meats and soups. On this particular day they had some porchetta cut ready to make into a sandwich and a tomato soup ready to go. Their set-up almost reminded me a bit of Meat & Bread but with a lot more variety in types of food. They also had a refrigerated display case off to the side with various juices, salads and desserts. I actually had a bunch of leftovers at home and wasn’t intending on buying anything significant. While the porchetta looked good, our Foodee delivery at the office this week was from Meat & Bread which means I already had my daily dose of porchetta. Unfort

Happy Tuesday guys! Known for catering feasts for weddings and movie stars, Truffles Fine Foods has recently opened up a standalone cafe in downtown Vancouver. Do the fresh eats here come out tastefully bland or does Downtown have a new gem in the neighbourhood? Read on to find out. Food: Team Tastic came here for a late lunch and we got to try the following: Blueberry Mint Lemonade Beetroot & Goat Cheese Salad (crumbled goat cheese, honey, toasted candied pecans, dill and parsley) Classic Roast Turkey & Brie (turkey, Brie, apple, watercress, cranberry spread, served on cranberry semolina bread) Chocolate Mousse (with chocolate cookie crumbs) Truffles Water and Blueberry Mint Lemonade The Blueberry Mint Lemonade was a treat. It’s all produced by Truffles Fine Foods and I liked the carbonated blueberry with a sour twist. The mint was a little weak for me but this is definitely best served cold right from their fridge rack.  Beetroot Goat Cheese Salad I thought the Beetroot Salad was also a fine choice. Unlike other places who might mix in other greens with a side of beetroot, this was the real deal with beetroot front and center. The candied pecans had a nice crunch to them and paired well with the softer vegetables.  Classic Roast Turkey Brie Just looking at the grill lines on this turkey sandwich makes me drool . Perfect uniform lines courtesy of a grill means this sandwich has a fine crunch on the outside backed with a fruity bite with the built-in cranberries. The turkey tasted fresh and the melted Brie was deliciously melted. There are a ton of sandwiches on display so I can definitely a quick lunch for two by splitting a sandwich and ordering a salad or if you’re really hungry try double-fisting two sandwich halves. Helpful service, delicious food especially for the price. Best in the neighborhood! Recommended: pot pies, Moroccan Lamb Melt.

Having been quite a fan of the previous '88juice&more', I had to try what had taken over. A lover of anything with grilled cheese I tried the croque Monsieur and it was delicious :) coffee is great too. I will certainly go back for more.
