Little gem on Kits. Love the food!
This is a donair shop with a location in Kits and one on Davie (they did have another location on West Broadway, but alas, it appears that they will be shutting that one down soon). I had the opportunity to check out their Kits location. In addition to their regular menu, which is small and consists of donair wraps and plates, they do also have specials on wraps that change every day of the week. Since it was Thursday, their Lamb Donair wrap was on special for $6.75 (regular $8.60). I got the latter, as well as a Falafel wrap. While the lamb wrap was very tasty, I found the falafel wrap is just nothing short of spectacular. Everything is made fresh: they slice the meat right off the spits and reheat them on the grill, and they fry the falafel right in front of you. I've had donairs at Donair Dude and Koala Kebabs, and I've got to say, Al Basha has them beat hands down. This is a place that I'd strongly recommend checking out for some very tasty, reasonably prices and somewhat healthier food.
Lamb Donair Wrap ($6.75 on Thursdays, $8.60)
4/5
The wrap contained hummus, tzatziki, hot sauce, lettuce, tomatoes, onions and a very generous amount of lamb. The lamb itself was tender and juicy, and very well-seasoned and flavourful with just the right amount of spice. It did have a slightly gamey taste that was not unpleasant, just present so that you know what the meat is. All the vegetables were very fresh and the sauces all blended perfectly to lend great flavour to the wrap.
Falafel Wrap ($7.40, $5.70 on Tuesdays):
5/5
The wrap contained the same ingredients as the lamb wrap, but just with three falafels in place of the meat. I've never had a falafel before, and all I can say is, I seriously need to order them more often. They were just spectacular: crunchy on the outside, soft, tender and juicy on the inside, and incredibly well-seasoned with the perfect amount of spice and heat. Again, all the vegetables were fresh and the sauces were flavourful.

I started coming here after my favourite shawarma place closed down a few years ago. I usually grab my food to go, but its not a bad place to eat in as well. Try the Al Basha plate with Tabouleh instead of salad and definitely add the hot sauce. The service is always great, They’ve even let me in to order before they were open. Not sure if this is a healthier fast food, but I like to think it is
One of my favourite shawarma places in Vancouver. The shawarma plates is huge and everything is priced well. They also make their falafels fresh, so no microwave!
Last minute hunger strike while at the beach. I didn't feel like hamburgers and pizza. I ordered the falafel wrap, hummus, and dolmathes. The dolmathes are delicious! The falafel is great, however very lazy in the wrap job. All the ingredients were in the center of the wrap and not spread out, nonetheless still delicious. Finally the hummus, wow its a huge portion. I didn't expect it to be so big. It can definitely feed two people or more. Just order a extra bread incase you plan to share after reading this review.
Falafel game strong.
And when a mean strong I mean tight, not one of those "take the pre-cooked falafel balls and reheat" kind of spots but "made fresh falafel mixture scooped up with an ice cream scooper and drop into hot oil" joints. That's my jam...
Coupled with the garlicky hummus, bold tahini and spicy sambal WOW.
Definitely a solid lunch option for the kits crowd.
I like this location. Friendly, welcoming, warm staff. the food is fresh, tasty, and affordable. the decor is better than the broadway location (newer location) and you won't smell like shawarma because the restaurant is open. i'm so happy they're so close to the beach.
I really liked it, so good and is authentic to what a donair and shawarma should taste like. Yum!! Will definitely go back!
