My daughter and I come sometimes twice a week , every time we try something new and I have to say everything is so delicious. The best butter cream (not too sweet). We both want to order our birthday cakes from here and the quality is uncompromising!!! Yum❕
Butter did my wedding cake and cupcakes and they were DELICIOUS!!! Everyone couldn't stop talking about them. Thank you so so much!!!
Went there for high tea and it was amazing. I had the traditional and could barely finish half of what they served. I left there with a box of beautiful treats and a full belly.
We bought a cake to celebrate a birthday. I had always wanted to buy a cake from Butter as we love the cookbook. We had chocolate cake with raspberry buttercream. It was fantastic and did not dissapoint. Everyone loved it and it was so pretty to serve.
Try the campfire bar....it's amazing! Can't wait to try more of their delicious desserts!!
Outstanding, I managed to only walk away with only one of goodies... And it's good thing , they are downtown if they were closer to me, I would be there everyday!!! Well done!
And such a cute girly store front!!
Beautiful
Love the new cookbook. I have both now. making pet treats this Christmas for our fur babies
Just made the Homemade You-Know What cookies. Awesome!!!
We tried their sunday high tea service at $30 per person. It includes 6 sandwiches, 4 scones, 7 sweets and unlimited pots of tea. We couldn't finish everything and had to pack most of the sweets to go. Their cookies are the best and their bars are best sellers as well (just too sweet for me). Sweets could do with a bit more variety. Their website advertised a lemon loaf as part of the high tea but we didn't receive that.
Interior is really cute but it is slightly cramped so if you want more room, this may not be the place for you but for the price it is a lower-end high tea option.

This is probably the prettiest bakery that I've been to, with colourful walls, shelves and furnature. Even their good are cute and clearly play to childhood nostalgia: colourful cookies and bars, marshmallows and cupcakes. So far I've sampled their Dunbar, Peanut Butter Marshmallow Slice, and Peanut Butter Cookie Sandwich (see below for more detail). I was very impressed with everything, in particular their Peanut Butter Cookie Sandwich (which is probably their most popular treat). I really liked this place, and I would highly recommend it to anyone who have a sweet tooth.
The Dunbar ($3.5) - 4.5/5
From appearance alone, it really didn't look like much, so I'm surprised by how much I ended up enjoying the bar. All of the components and flavours in the bar worked very well together and were absolutely delicious. It had a layer of chocolate chips that was topped by a delcious layer of thick, sweet dulce de leche. The streussel topping, which contained oatmeal, pecans and coconut was crunchy, buttery and had a nice hint of salt that complemented the sweetness of the chocolate and caramel. I did find the pecans to be a bit on the raw side and I do wish that the coconut flavour was a bit more promient.
Peanut Butter Marshmallow Slice ($2.25) - 4/5
It basically consisted of their plain, house-made (vanilla?) marshmallows mixed together with a peanut butter frosting. I'm not a marshmallow connoisseur; I thought that theirs was fine - soft, fluffy and mildly sweet. What makes the slice special was their peanut butter frosting. It had a great peanut flavour and a perfect balance between sweet and salty.
Peanut Butter Cookie Sandwich ($4) - 5/5
I had pretty high expectations for this cookie, and fortunately, I wasn't disappointed. The cookies themselves were soft and almost melted in my mouth. The peanut butter filling was quite different from their marshmallow slice - it was fluffier, less sweet, and didn't have as a strong peanut flavour. Eaten separately, I found that both the cookie and the frosting to be a bit weak in flavour, even slightly bland. However, when eaten together (as the sandwich is clearly meant to), the flavours build and combine to form the perfect bite.
To meet up with a friend Sheepie and I thought we’d check out Butter. It was a very chic place, with pastel, soft greens and pink. Their branding was well done, and one could spend more time just looking not only at the food, but the design as well. I got myself a small cupcake $3.25. But it was too buttery and sweet. Enough so, that I had to give the leftover to Sheepie who was happy to take any sweets to satisfy his sweet tooth. It looked pretty, but the custard was cold and hard. I like fluffy, airy, soft custards – usually found in Asian cakes.
This place is fantastic. As its name suggests, Butter uses copious amount of butter in their decadent baked goods. One of my favorites here is the peanut butter sandwich cookie. The cookie is soft, sweet and salty. Try it. You'll be going back for more.
Pictured: At a favourite spot for afternoon tea - Butter Baked Goods cafe - eating peanut butter cookie, peanut butter marshmallow bar, and red velvet whoopie pie. The desserts are decadent but oh so good. I keep going back to their peanut butter sandwich cookie though as it is just so rich and creamy - a meal in itself! They also serve some light sandwiches, quiches and soups for lunch (changes daily). The inside is absolutely gorgeous and photo worthy - from the desserts, to the wallpaper, and the wall of their famous marshmallows. They also have some seating outside for when the weather is nice. See pictures of different treats I’ve ordered over the years here, here, and here.
We were looking for a nice place to catch up at after work. My concern was the traffic, so my guest cleverly choose the very comforting “Butter Baked Goods”, in order to avoid the peak hour drive. I avoided the traffic going home, but we ran into the after school snack traffic instead. The bakery quickly flooded with parents and guardians undecided of what to have, and kids pleading for more than what they could eat.
If you're trying to cut down on sugar or build trust with your dentist, you'd be wise to avoid this homespun bakery café. But if like me, you are of sound mind and reasonable opinion that birthday cake, the day after your big day, makes a fine breakfast - well, we're going to get along just fine. When we visited Butter Baked Goods last weekend, I was still buzzing about it days later, maybe on an extended sugar high. But also, partly because my heart was pretty much kidnapped, muzzled and disappeared into some sort of foodie oblivion.
This place is my happy place and even though I've had a few disappointments, I can't help but still give them 5 stars. My absolute favourite bakery. I was actually first introduced to this bakery by their beautiful cookbook.
The first thing I tried here was their famous "Oreo" sandwich cookies. Didn't disappoint! Soft and rich - they are huge too, hard to finish! I also ended up baking them myself from their cookbook and they turned out the same. Super happy about that! I tried their peanut butter sandwich cookies and now I'm addicted to those. They were so soft with the right amount of sweetness. Every time I'm here I debate either of those sandwich cookies. I've had a couple of their bars and they are great, the millionaire, their newest pink marshmallow chocolate bar with coconut (so good)! I want to try their salads here as they looked like they had a delicious peach and goat cheese one this summer. They also have a selection of small bags of candy here too and some cute cards too. I also saw some ladies having high tea here and it looked amazing!
I've had two disappointments. A box of macarons - the macarons were cracked and very dry. Possibly of the worst macarons I've had in Vancouver. My first attempt at macarons were better than these. I haven't tried them since, though I have a feeling that was a horrible batch. If I didn't live so far away, I would've tried to get a refund. I didn't like their sprinkle cookie sandwich either - I wasn't expecting it to be dry and crumbly and the buttercream was way too sweet (and I've never said that about anything before). Pretty sure it was sweeter than the buttercream in their recipe books which I make all the time.
I also wish they would update their social media streams with photos of treats that are actually currently in stock in the bakery, rather than pretty professional photos. I've had some disappointments and never got to try their campfire bar this summer, despite two trips out to their location which is a bit out of the way!
The interior is the prettiest I have ever seen for a bakery. I have to hold back from walking around instagramming everything. Sometimes it can be hard to find a place to sit. I like that there is some seating outside and it's in a relatively quiet neighborhood. I can hardly imagine how busy it would be in a more popular area!
I'm pretty excited they recently changed to be open on Mondays as well - 7 days a week now!
Monday through Saturday : 8:00am to 5:30pm
Sunday: 9:00am to 5:00pm
It's a must visit (frequently) bakery in my opinion!
Sweet Tooth Heaven. This is it! My sweet tooth has finally been conquered with satisfaction. Nothing more to be said, you should try it out and you'll see what I'm talking about.
Best cupcakes!. I am a big fan of Cupcakes and the cupcake girls which have now popped up all around Vancouver and any other cupcakes that tried to compete couldn't cut it until I discovered Butter cupcakes. I actually tried it at Urban Fare as they sell them there packaged and it was fantastic. Trust me when i say that I am a pretty decent cupcake girl as I have tried them in a lot of cities. For example in montreal you must try Le petite gateau and Itsy bitsy and now in Vancouver in addition to Cupcakes you must try Butter cupcakes cause I think they are the best in the city. The packaging and presentation is pretty cute too. I wouldn't mind seeing a few more sparkle sugars that are shiny used on them - just makes a bit girly and incase the owners of Butter are reading this - please tell your retail carriers to make sure they bring in fresh batches because the past 2 times now that I have purchased it from Urban Fare it was so dry and you can tell it was from a few days ago. Fresh is best!!! Thanks for opening such a great bakery!!!
Yummy!. I am addicted to the red velvet whoopie pie! The chocolate sandwich cookies are also fantastic and I love the coconut marshmallows and chocolate cherry scones. Not crazy about the peanut butter or chocolate chip cookies or the cupcakes - they're good, but if I'm going to splurge and eat something totally unhealthy - I'd take the sandwich cookie over their other cookies and the whoopie pie over the cupcakes :)
Absolutely Decadent. I have never experienced baking like Butter. This place is beyond amazing! Be prepared to gain a pound or two but it is honestly worth it. More than anything else, I have to recommend the homemade Oreos. I believe they are on the list of "100 Things to Eat Before You Die" and I can see why! Butter is truly an experience!
Crazy for Butter's Marshmallows!. We loved the strawberry marshmallows! SOOO YUMMY!
Great oreo and marshmallows. I don't have a sweet tooth but I love baking and I love visiting bakeries - go figure! My friend brought me here and introduced me to my first homemade, non-processed marshmallow and it has changed my life. $6 for a small bag is the perfect gift. Everyone I gave it to loved it. The vanilla and toasted coconuts were the best. I've tried their other more exotic flavours and didn't like them as much as the classic ones.
Growing up, I loved eating Oreos so I was excited to see their homemade version for $2.75. It was a massive cookie and worth the price. It's definitely a decadent treat. I just wish I had a cold glass of milk to go with it!
A little well known Vancouver bakery has expanded and now serves high tea and does wholesale. The last time I visited "Butter Bakery" they were still located on Dunbar. Since then that location has become their tea house and their Bakeshop has relocated to Mackenzie. Both their teahouse and Bakeshop is signed in their trademark seafoam with pale green trim; wallpapered in a feminine rose wallpaper; and decorated with delicate chandeliers and larger than life pink and white flower arrangements. They know their demographic is women, and for them they were going to cute this place up the best they could. I broke out into a smile as I walked into their pretty pink bakeshop. The colours made me happy, the smells made me hungry, and all the desserts I wanted to try made my wallet ache. Shelves housed longer lasting goods like biscotti, preserves, frosted sugar cookies, and marshmallows. Behind the glass was a fresh assortment of pies, cakes, bars, cookies, and anything sweet. They were propp
The moment I walked into the store I was in cuteness heaven. Mint green counters, baby pink walls and floral wallpaper, how much cuter can it get...
I dare you to think that you will walk out of the bakery/cafe without sampling at least one mouthwatering dessert!
I really like their homemade S’more. It’s really nice and I would come back for it.

Price-wise, these desserts are not cheap, but they are massive and taste very good. I am definitely returning for the lemon meringue!
When my friend first told me about this place, I got instantly attracted by the name of the cafe. They also have an afternoon tea room which serves afternoon tea service. Which I am excited to try also. Butter Cafe is quite far away from where I live, but I don’t regret making this trip. The place is adorable and everything had this modern vintage feel to it. Was here for a late lunch/tea with friends so we ordered sandwiches, quiche and tart. I ordered a lemon meringue tart (when I checked the website, I realized that it is a Saturday special unless you order in advance) with butter tea. The tart shell was quite stiff, I made a giant noise trying to crack it open with my fork. But the lemon curd was sour and refreshing. I loved it! Also loved how it was sort of mini size. Their sandwiches, soup and quiche are changed daily so whatever is in season and whatever they feel like making! Which I think it’s great, because if you revisit often. You can always try out different things. I took
