Let me introduce you to Megzz - she is my most favourite alter ego, Vancouver Basic BB, mostly because she lives in ultimate comfort and gets to wear lululemon yoga pants paired with a denim jackets and a blanket scarf at all times. Megzz made an appearance on this rainy, foggy Sunday morning in June to pop into Pallet Coffee Roasters on Semlin Drive in East Van for her standard Americano and Avocado Ricotta Toast.
Quiet atmosphere, friendly staff and great coffee. The mocha was great and not too sweet either. No comfortable seating for long periods but a little patio for the sunny days.
We finally got around to visiting the 3rd location of Pallet near the East Hastings and Victoria neighborhood. We had great experiences not too long ago at the Broadway and Kingsway locations. This location is on a side street north of Hastings in a semi industrial/residential area. You won’t miss it as the Pallet building stands out quite obviously.
In our continued search to explore the local coffee scene in Vancouver, we found ourselves a while back at Pallet Coffee Roasters East Hastings location. This is both a café, tasting room, and roaster. They also have two cafes located on Kingsway and Knight Street and another location in Kitsilano at W Broadway and Maple Street.
The coffee is very good! It's a smooth roast with a lower acidity but a slight bitter aftertaste.
I'd definitely come back for the coffee but not the food. I ordered the bruschetta avocado toast and the avocado was brown and the eggs were over done and cold.
One of the best coffee shops in east Vancouver! Well exterior and interior designs! Settings can be found inside the outside the cafe. If you are sitting on the upper floor, you can see how their staff make sandwiches or their food, take orders and make coffee.
We ordered a latte, flat white and classic French croissant. They were excellent! When we were eating the classic French croissant, we wanted to order more addicting to their food. Their latte and flat white were very good that they had their own character, style and flavour. We really wouldn't mind to drink them every day!
If we would be in the same neighbourhood, we must have come back to try other coffee drinks and food/pastries. Unfortunately they were sold out of their almond croissants when we got there at noon!
Pallet Coffee Roasters in Vancouver’s East Village neighborhood 323 Semlin Street is a full service coffee bar with freshly made in house sandwiches and baked goods. It is just around the corner from Basho Cafe. The high ceiling space is gorgeous with pallet boards and waterfall dangling light bulbs.
[07/20/2015] I purchased a Groupon deal for Pallet Coffee Roasters a while ago but never got around to using it until I realized it was expiring soon.. So, I called up my foodie/health/blog buddy Naomi and we went to the cafe together for a Monday breakfast. Pallet Coffee Roasters is tucked away in a quiet residential area near East Hastings St. We went early in the morning, shortly after the opening hour, and there were already a couple of customers in the cafe. More and more people started flowing in as time past, I guess it’s a good place for those who live around the area to just grab and go and morning meal before work.
What a great spot with a unique layout - they toast their own beans and create great flavors with fresh ingredients for breakfast or lunch sandwiches. The staff is very friendly but also sense when to give you space.
Mike grew up in East Village, so returning to this familiar neighbourhood is like pulling a yellowing, worn book off the shelf, opening a chapter into his past. He has stories to tell from his past life – I can read them through his arm lifted in a direction, by a gaze, through a change in his voice signalling recognition of something that was long lost, and now suddenly found.

Just swung by since Basho was closed and pleasantly surprised! I had a hot chocolate and Adorables had their iced coffee and beef brisket panini, very good!
Typically, I`ll turn at the sight of a line. Basho Cafe was my most recent experience with this. A silver lining, though, is that sometimes in my walk away in frustration, I initiate Plan B hatched on the spot and check out a nearby alternative. When Basho annoyed, Pallet Coffee Roasters entered and catapulted itself into my upper quartile of cafe rankings.
Over on the Eastside of town, Pallet has already become known for its open and inviting warehouse feel amidst its caffeinated setting.
Cream Earl Grey Tea. Creamy goodness in a cup
Last Wednesday, I attended another Tasting Plates Vancouver event hosted by Vancouver Foodster and this one happened to be in my old neighborhood! When my parents and I first moved to Vancouver, we lived at the Hastings Sunrise community for quite some years. I moved away about six years ago and it's been quite a while since I've visited the area. Interestingly, the community changed a lot over the years; the dine-out scene, especially, got significantly better and hipper. Read all about the places I visited, click....... If you aren't familiar, Tasting Plates Vancouver are tasting events held at various neighbourhoods in Vancouver. During each event, you get a map and a guide and visit various pre-set locales to try out a sampler menu that best showcases the restaurant. For the East Village event, we went to a total of seven places, three of which were cafes, two bars, and an olive oil tasting bar. Today I'll be talking about all the cafes we visited: Pallet Coffee Roasters: A super modern and spacious two-level cafe, this was the first place we visited and I think we were all super impressed with the open-concept kitchen and the friendly service. On the coffee menu are the in-house roasted Americano and Cortado. I picked the Cortado, which is espresso mixed with a little bit of milk. I'm not an espresso connoisseur nor do I even drink coffee on a regular basis but the taste was rich, creamy and enjoyable! Spacious interior of Pallet Coffee Roasters On the tasting plate was a beef brisket sandwich with a side of spinach and mushroom salad. Inside the sandwich are delicious, tender beef slices spread with remoulade (french condiment similar to tartar sauce), caramelized onions topped with gruyere cheese and something called ianca pane (no idea what this is, even google agrees). The salad has spinach tossed with the same yummy caramelized onions, pecans, and goat cheese. Both items are super delicious, everything tasted fresh and flavorful! Beef Brisket Sandwich with
Disclaimer: This meal was provided for review Happy Saturday guys! Following a smash hit campaign of brunch crawls during Dine Out 2015, Vancouver Foodster was back for a return to the East Village neighbourhood for a 7-stop Tasting Plates Vancouver event. This is an epic review but it’s worth a read. From newly sprung up coffee stops to floral spirits, do the eats in East Village touch every one of your taste buds or should you stay home today? Read on to find out. Pallet Coffee Roasters Beef Brisket Sandwich with Spinach and Wild Mushrooms Salad Here Team Tastic (with friends) began its journey. We were served a Cortado , a Double-Baked Almond Croissant, Rosemary Parmesan Scone, Beef Brisket Sandwich (with ianca pane, remoulade, caramelized onions, gruyere, and beef), and a Spinach & Wild Mushrooms Salad . Based on menu quantity alone this was a highlight stop. Cortado with Doubled-Baked Almond Croissant and Rosemary Parmesan Scone What a way to start! The best bites here came from the Beef Brisket Sandwich which was a very clean one-handed experience and the Cortado which had a great dessert and got my caffeine buzz on for the night to come. The coffee shop is also a beautiful place to be in as you can see here. Inside Pallet Coffee Roasters Odd Society Spirits Left to right: Creme de Cassis, Vermouth, Wallflower Gin, and East Van
You're going to have to kick me out. Because I'm never leaving. Industrial Chic is the name of the game here and boy do they nail it with their clean lines and deceptively stylish two tiered cafe... Pallet Coffee Roasters, you are so effortlessly cool I just want to stick you in my pocket and carry you around always and forever...
