Review Romer's - Vancouver

Jason Zhang
It was a nice atmosphere, service was kind. The food was around average. My burger patty in particular was very charred - not sure if that's just the style but made the meat rough for me to eat personally. The fries are crispy (which I do like). A little more on the pricey side but overall decent experience, would come again.

We went there with friends on Remembrance Day ( they open at 11 instead of 10 that day). Covered patio seating area with outside fireplace was great choice. You can sea water from their. It’s nice location. Menu items was a good variety but brunch is only at weekends. Staff were friendly and service was nice. Food amounts was reasonable and tasty.

Tried out the dine out Vancouver menu. The Nashville hot wings were really good, perfectly cooked chicken wing, great dry spice rub, just needs a touch of more salt. But the hot sauce combined with ranch was amazing. Their cauliflower wings weren’t bad but again the sauce was amazing. The burger was okay, patty was a bit dry but over all was pretty tasty when I added extra sauce. The berry cobbler was incredible. The berries were not overly sweet, the tartness balanced the flavour of the sweet vanilla ice cream. The drunken donuts were also very very good. Tasted like fresh mini donuts from PNE but the true star was the Kahlua Nutella chocolate sauce. Normally Nutella is very very sweet on its own but the sourness of the Kahlua liqueur balanced out the flavours and you get a nice toffee, chocolate blend. I also drizzled the chocolate sauce on top of my vanilla ice cream to add another layer of flavour. Would definitely return for the dessert.

I was out for a walk with a friend and my two kids when we came across Romer’s Burger Bar. It looked busy and we were all hungry so we decided to stop by and put our names down on the wait list. I’m not sure if the host was high or not but he kept laughing and couldn’t even give an answer of approximately how long the wait was or any question for that matter. Any response was giggling and smirking. There were many people seated outside on the patio but when we asked to sit on the patio he said it was too cold because we had kids with us. (We were already outside for a walk and dressed appropriately) It ended up being about 45 minutes so we went back inside and when the staff saw us we caught them looking at us and whispering. Obviously they were talking about us probably not in a good way. When we were seated the service was slow but we were understanding because the place was quite busy. We ordered a vegan-ator burger, tomato basil soup, parmesan onion rings and kids sliders with fries. The vegan-ator burger and tomato basil soup were decent but the server never brought a spoon for the soup and was nowhere to be found. So we had to get up and look for a spoon ourselves. The onion rings were also okay but the kids sliders were plain with no sauces. (Any sauce was an extra cost) It was just a bun with a patty that was burnt on the outside and raw on the inside, which is not acceptable for kids. Eventually after 20 minutes went by, the server finally came to check on us. I let her know that the sliders were inedible. She offered to replace them with new ones but everybody was already done their food and were ready to go. What’s the point of going to a restaurant when you aren’t being served? Might as well eat at home. Overall the food wasn’t too bad but the service was extremely unorganized and unprofessional. My kids were still hungry when we got home! It’s a shame we won’t be coming back here because we live very close and pass by this restaurant for walks often.

I've given this place so many opportunities to not disappoint but it's just so not the one. The food takes forever and when it comes it's hit or miss. The servers are the least attentive of any sit down restaurant I've been to in this city. Definitely not somewhere you can go for multiple drinks because by the time you finish your first, the empty glass will be sitting there for the next 20 mins. The strangest thing is that your waiter will walk by, see that your glass is empty and still not ask if you want anything else. I would honestly drop mad dough on this place if they'd let me order more than 1 drink in a sitting. I wasn't going to say anything but today I had just the most awful brunch you could imagine and it was the last straw. I got a Benny that was so depressing to both look at and eat I found myself wishing I was at McDonald's instead. Yes, the photo is how it came. It seems like the owner is just banking on a it being the only craft style restaurant in the neighborhood so they don't put any effort into the quality. Staff don't seem like they want to be there so obviously it rubs off on the customer's experience. So sad because the potential is there. :(

Good burgers and bowls, as always. I REALLY wish they had never removed the jerk chicken burger, however! Great selection of wine. Lovely ambience!

Need long wait at front door due to not yet set up even had booking advance, lot of empty table as I saw at the time I walked in, that's unprofessional. Food quality below average, disappointed that the steak over cook with burn stain and taste bitter.

Great happy hours and it did get busy on a Thursday evening. Good thing they are expanding along with the neighborhood developments. Had a great time here without having to go to downtown.

Romer’s Man’s Man burger was classic good! Their thick sliced patty was juicy, it oozed out when you bite with their crunchy maple smoked bacon and melted amber ale cheddar. The ripened tomato, crispy onion strings and mustard aioli just blended well together. If you’re looking for something fresh and around the neighbourhood, this is the place to be. I love the River District area where you can enjoy the water, a few appies and some craft beer or wine with friends at the same time. We were satisfied with the friendly servers which made it comforting.<br/>

Never even heard of Romer's until now but I realize it's a local favourite. It was a lovely day and we got seated outside in the patio. There are so many burger options. I ended up ordering my usual onion rings to share and the chorizodor burger as suggested by my dining mates. It was a cheesier option than my usual as I usually pick seafood options. I don't recall seeing one on the menu, but I figured I should try a beef patty burger anyway. A nice balance of flavours. I would probably try a different burger next time. I may be spoiled from the gourmet burger places in my hometown that is preventing me from giving this a higher rating.

Essential burger experience!  I think the best time is Happy Hour! Meat is always tasty and fresh. presentation excellent! I really like burger and beer here!

Parking is very limited and hard to find more space if the lot is full. The food is tasty but expensive. You have to buy fries on top of the burger which is already around 15$. Their donuts are very delicious and a must try. The location is wonderful.

Romer's Burger Bar is located along the Fraser River in East Vancouver.<br/> It has a fantastic view.<br/><br/>We went during Happy Hour. Their happy hour is daily from 3-6 PM & 9PM-close 🍻🍻. Our server “Pam from the Office”, was awesome! Provided a great atmosphere and recommendations. <br/>Had the Brussels Sprouts (HEAVEN), Wings, Nachos, and Lettuce Wraps to split between 5 people. Everything was delicious and filling. <br/>I had the “El Diablo” to drink and started a trend at the table. Super drink! 😊<br/>Would go back again for sure.

The burgers are good but what this place has going for it is the view. It’s in a nice location. Maybe not the prettiest location but it’s got a nice view of the Fraser and it’s nice to watch the people walk by on the path.

unfortunately ran out of the featured wine which was replaced with one that was very sweet, was still okay. However the burger, which is supposed to be top 50 in the world according to them, unfortunately fell extremely short and turned out to be one of the most dry pieces of meat I've ever eaten. Was overcooked, bun was burnt too. only reason why this isn't a one star rating was because the rest of my table somewhat enjoyed their meal.

Truffle fries, $6.95: The scent of the truffle oil slowly wafting to our table was amazing. Mmmm… truffle oil…. The fries were delicious, crunchy and fresh. We would definitely order this again!

It's alright - nice patio and beautiful view. I like their burgers and the menu has gotten better over the years. It is not spectacular. I do like hanging out there in the summer and they are accommodating for our kiddos, which is nice. The manager is wonderful and always does his best to help out when needed.

Beautiful location! Great patio and awesome takeout window. Service was very friendly and attentive. We had to wait until after our entrees for our appetizer but otherwise our meal was good. The food was tasty, but I don't like it when major ingredients are left off the description of the burger. Obviously I just took things off at the table, but I don't like wasting food or having to dissect my meal before I eat it. Not a huge deal, but a bit odd to me.

Great location and atmosphere (music and decor). Unfortunately the space in the restaurant was quite tight making it feel a little cramped. The service was really good and they kept checking in with us to ensure things were good.<br/><br/>Both my partner and I ordered the Brewer's BBQ burger, which was on the month's fresh sheet. For $15.95 you get burger and fries. That was cheaper than the burgers on the menu (average $13.95) then having to pay $5 more for fries. With that being said, their burgers are fairly large that if you don't have a big appetite fries and burger may be too much food.<br/><br/>The taste of the food was decent. I wouldn't say it was fabulous because the burger I ordered was supposed to have tequila lime onions with pepper jack cheese, maple smoked bacon on top of this organic beef burger dressed with a grapefruit ale BBQ sauce, and, it was a little bland. The beef burger tasted delicious but I couldn't taste any of the other flavours I was expecting. It tasted like a regular cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato and bacon I could get at White Spot. They could have done a better job of bringing our the tequila lime onions and maple smoked bacon.<br/><br/>A nice perk was filling out the survey in the end to get a free dessert donuts on my next visit.

Came here a few times for the $5 Benny special. They're only available on Saturdays and Sundays before 11am. I find the food is not too consistent because the first time I went, the potatoes were put in the deep fryer until they were crisp and brown. The second time my potatoes were not crisp, but my sister's plate was brown and crisp. But for $5, I can't complain! Would go back again. You get a free coupon for their drunken donuts for your next visit if you do the short survey when they bring you the bill!

Been meaning to try Romer's for so long. Finally, when the daughter said she wanted bar food and we had to go somewhere nearby, it was the perfect time.<br/><br/>The place was really nice, we all 3 loved it. The interiors as well as the view outside. Too bad the food & drink didn't quite deliver. Food was too oily especially the fish & chips. The calamari lacked flavour. The burger was not as bad as the rest but overall, we were disappointed. My lime margarita wasn't that great as well.

Good selection of food. Quality is great, I have always been happy with the food taste. Pricing is fair, but some items can be a little pricy. service is good, but it can get very busy at peak times - expect to wait a long time on Friday night. They do takeout - yay.

Great location with a lovely view. Love this place as their beef is sourced locally from BC (no hormones or antibiotics). Burgers are made to order and service is usually quite consistent. Truffle Fries and onion rings are always a must! Burgers don't come with sides so there are additional costs to add sides. Burgers are a bit on the smaller side but overall quite tasty (might need a pinch more seasoning). Their Brioche buns are soft and toasty. Mango Mint Ice Tea is the bomb!! Oh and don't forget to finish your meal off with their yummy drunken doughnuts!!<br/>

Good service. Nice view of the river from the patio. The real test of a 'Burger Bar' is a basic patty with basic stuff on it. Romer's passed with flying colours but didn't blow my mind. Will return to try some other things. The whole menu looks amazing.

• quietly located in the River district (south Vancouver - Marine drive where a lot of trees have been chopped for more condos)<br/>• parking can be a problem, limited space in the restaurant, park along the street if theres any available or carpool if you must<br/>• servers and hostess are nice, friendly and don't give you a tired look; checks out with you couple of times and refills your drinks efficiently <br/>• food is good, I recommend the onion rings which was piping hot with a tasty garlic dill dipping sauce sprinkled with fresh parmesan & thyme. The garlic fries are so good too but the serving is small. The freshness elevates all the flavours you can tell that the potatoes and onions are not frozen and fried.<br/>Suggestion for the menu, waffle cut fries + nachos together<br/>• Man's man burger is good, simple and you'll love it for $13.25. A bit pricey but you get what you pay for. Meat is not fatty, you won't get that greasy feel around your lips after you finish this. Side of fries optional $<br/>• Wicked deadly cheese was just ok, I'd probably not order this again and just concentrate on the"fave list". Something is missing on this burger<br/>• $5 sangria on Saturdays which was a delight <br/>

The food here looks amazing but the flavour is a hit or miss. Many dishes including the tacos and burgers are very greasy. The service is good and the food in my opinion is more like well presented Pub food. <br/>Nothing sticks out at Romer's Burgers to make it unique from all the other Burger establishments. I would only come back if a friends birthday was organized here. The hype and reviews really let me down.

Had lunch here yesterday.. Ordered the fish tacos and then mans man Burger with mushrooms. The burger was good . My taco was not bad either but because of the crispy shell it felt a bit too greasy.
Nom.nom.nom.
Food was good. I ordered the cheeseburger and it was a bit burnt.. hard and crunchy. The appies were great tho, highly recommended the wings, truffle fries, and the Brussel sprouts. Those were my absolute fav. The appy ribs were ok, not the greatest. They offer to make it 'green' by replacing your brioche bun with half a head of lettuce for extra charge. Other than the snooty waitress it was a pleasant meal :)

There are so many bugs in the washroom! If you're on the patio in the summer there are tons of bugs too! I love their dip mini donuts and their burgers are not bad either.

Instead of always ordering the benedicts from Romer’s weekend brunch menu, I opted to try something new from their regular menu and went with the Street Tacos! They have four to choose from but the one that appealed to me the most was the “Wild Pacific Fish Tacos” ($14.95). This came with chipotle slaw and roasted tomato salsa.

Ok I'm not a big fan of corporate restaurants. But I was invited by my brother and his gf here for dine out. I gotta be honest, wow...<br/>The mushroom burger I had was so light. It tasted amazing and I didn't feel like a grease ball afterwards. Very well done. Decor and ambient cozy and our server was amazing I wish I knew her name. She has brown hair tied back in a pony tail. Wonderful service.<br/>Need a place to park your dog? No problem it's a dog friendly area<br/><br/>Update: I went back for brunch. Ordered the watermelon salad, sausage bennys, Cajun shrimp bennys. Nicely done. To my suprise a really fresh cup of coffee wow...<br/>
James
To start I would just like to say that I love the burgers here, but today I came for the breakfast. I must say... WORST eggs benny I have ever had in my life. WORST. I only ate them because I paid for them, otherwise I would have thrown them away. Service is still good and burgers are still good, but Romer's, stick to what you know. I will not be back for breakfast.
Brewji
The burgers here have not disappointed me at all. Tammy had the Man's Man awhile back and she thought it was average. I had the Chorizodor and was blown away my first time here. However, the Kobe burger just tasted like a regular burger. I've had Kobe before and ....other places Kobe lived up to standards.<br/><br/>Anyways, this review is about their Holiday Turkey Burger. Best Turkey burger I've ever had! It wasn't dry, and had stuffing as well as cranberry sauce on it! In a nutshell, it was everything delicious about the holidays in one burger.<br/><br/>I'm only giving the restaurant a 4.5/5 because I think the Kobe could be much better. This Turkey burger makes my Top 5 ever though. Brewji approves!

I love to brunch at this Romer's because the neighbourhood is pretty nice. They only offer brunch during the weekend which is fine for me. I normally order the Baja Shrimp Benedict which is very filling and tasty! I consider this place as one of my cheap eats!

PROS<br/>+ Love their patio<br/>+ Donuts are really tasty, love them<br/>+ Liked their pulled pork<br/>+ A variety of premium cheese you can choose<br/>+ Fresh, crispy french fries<br/><br/>CONS<br/>- Coffee tastes (really) bad

My boyfriend and I came here on a Sunday evening. We sat out on the patio and watched people walk by as the sun set. It wasn't very busy, so the atmosphere was very calm and relaxing. Service was good, standard, nothing over the top but not bad either. We shared the Threesome as an appetizer (olives, spicy nuts, and pickles). My boyfriend really likes olives so he was disappointed that they weren't mixed olives, but they were still really good. The only problem was that there were a lot of each thing, which in my opinion is too much for just two people. I can only eat so many pickles and nuts, so this dish would be better with a larger group of people. We also shared the Jamaican Chicken Tacos and the All Day Breakfast Burger. The tacos come in two, with a side of fries. Fries were thick cut and nice and hot, and we got the Spicy Banana Ketchup as well. The Ketchup had a nice kick, and a subtle banana flavor. Who knew bananas and ketchup went well together? The tacos weren't in a typical tortilla, more like thin naan bread, or thicker roti bread. I prefer tortillas but my boyfriend liked it. The burger was DELICIOUS. The pork sausage patty was nice and spicy, and egg yolk was creamy and runny, and all the condiments worked perfectly on the burger. That was the selling point for me, other than being able to sit near the water without having to go all the way into the heart of Vancouver. Overall experience was good, we'll definitely come back here.

Inflexible staff. We came here during Dineout for dinner. We arrived 10 minutes before our reservation time. We were taken to the corner table of the restaurant. If it was still light out it would have been a great spot, but it was dark already and there was only 1 candle lighting the table. We couldn't read the menus because it was too dark so we asked our waitress to turn on the light above us. She said no and essentially, "that's what you get with a waterfront seat". We asked if we could move to one of the 3 empty tables in our area, and our waitress said no changes were allowed that night. 20 minutes later we saw another waitress leading a group of 4 to one of the tables in our area. They asked their waitress if they could sit at another table and their waitress happily obliged. <br/><br/>I emailed the manager the next day. No response to date.<br/><br/>Food was decent though not spectacular. Prices on a non-Dineout evening seem expensive. <br/><br/>I won't be returning due to the service.

Wont' be back. I came here today for lunch with a few colleagues. I had the chicken tacos with fries. The tacos had a weird shell, something like a thick pancake. They also had an unappetizing curry aioli which I did not like. My colleague had the lemongrass chicken salad. She found the chicken overcooked and the overall flavour to be lacking. This is my second time here and I am not impressed enough to return.
Whirlpool1646
OVERPRICED. Went for lunch today and very disappointed in both food and prices ..Burgers are overpriced and do not come with fries ..The order of fries was tiny and $2.99 ..The best part of the burger was the bun .Coffee was burnt and not hot and also overpriced (3.50) ..Will not be going back
Jnichols91
Nice view disappointing food. I hear so much about this restaurant and that it had the best burgers. We ordered the chicken burger and when it arrived it was not a chicken breast in the sand which but small pieces of chicken thigh in it. You advertise it's a chicken breast burger and we get chicken thighs. Was not impressed with the service either. The beef burger was nothing special and the bun fell apart and the burger lacked flavor.

Like the Service, don't like the noisy environment. A team lunch of 10 people. Having read quite a number of negative reviews before going there, I thought I would not have a nice dining experience but came out it was quite good. The waitress that served us was very attentive with a pleasant personality. I also observed that the waitress serving the next table was very friendly, too. The burger that I ordered tasted good. I especially liked the bun but one of my colleagues didn't. The fries were nice and fresh. <br/><br/>Overall speaking, the food was a bit pricey but quality wasn't bad. Services were good. Next time maybe we should be seated outside because it was crazily noisy inside - we could hardly hear each other. You can only talk to the person next to you or in front of you.
Apettenon6
Terrible burger. Waste of calories, greasy bun, awful flavorless meat, spartan bland toppings and fried that were undercooked and tasted of oil thanKS for all the effort! Do not bother a and w is way better for third if price! All 4 if us were underwhelmed, and did not enjoy it, steer clear of low grade Bennie as well! Best way to describe it all the food was bland and uninspired obviously the do not hsve trained chefs like cactus or Joey's!
Toby Cheung
This location is extremely unorganize, called to make reservation for 7.<br/>Sat and waited for 45 minutes, only watch two other group of 4 people took on two tables that can acommandate us.<br/>Very disappointing exprience, and will never want to visit the location again.
Rgan
Not sure its worth the money. Was there for a luncheon and the first thing that went wrong was that they don't have record of the reservation we've made for our party of 14. <br/><br/>Now the food. The concensus around the table was that the meat patties were on the dry side and at $13 per burger (with no sides), we started to wonder whether it was worth it.<br/><br/>A side order of fries at around $4 and onion rings at $8 and drinks...it adds up quickly...<br/><br/>For $30, there are better choices in Vancouver.

Oops! Is that ranch dressing in my purse?. The Mr and I live in the neighbourhood and pop into Romers 5/6 times as year. It's okay, bit pricy, bit cliche but hey it's in the neighbourhood and we can walk and have a glass of wine. Today we dropped in for a beer and appie (cannot just have a beer) . The chicken wings (kinda dry and $11 for six smallish wings) came with ranch dip. Well upon presentation the ranch dip disappeared into my handbag managing to disburse through all compartments. I cleared everything out into a grocery sack and had them throw the purse away. The managers solution was quite disappointing , we received a $40 gift certificate which was ok (?) , that's it, no offer to pick up our appie and beer, nada. Not much for an expensive hand bag that was not salvageable. And on top, he tried to be funny advising he couldnt trust his girls. 21st century , you' ve got to be kidding. I will definitely use our $40 (why not) but share the experience. Not professional , training required and perhaps a customer compensation guideline. ROmers has a very unhappy customer over $28.00 notwithstanding a $300 purse. Sad but true story which I'm sure they don't care about, good location always busy, they need some competition to sharpen their game.

Bad Experience Overall. Don't bother going here! We found a piece of plastic 2 inches long in our burger, it was disgusting. We went for a family dinner and the waitress who greeted us was rude and didn't place us at a table we wished. She claimed the table that we wanted to sit at was "reserved", yet no one showed up as time passed. Bad Experience.

Service has really gone downhill. Romer's still has amazing onion rings but I've stopped going to this location because the service has really gone downhill. I went with my husband on a busy Friday night and we willingly stayed at the bar and had some drinks and appies while a table opened up. Once we were seated at our actual table it was almost impossible to get our waiter to take our order. He actually took the orders from the tables directly to the left and the right of us and we had to stand in front of him to stop him and ask him if he could take our order - answer was "I guess so". Asked for a refill of water, again, never got a response - after waiting 20 minutes I actually walked up to the bar where he was standing chatting with the bartender and refilled my water glass myself. He totally gave up after that and ignored our table for the rest of the night. I still like Romer's food but the service will keep me away.

Just sat down slow for drinks order braised rib did not have them order sea food salad convinced us to having something else maybe because they did not have that either come back I don't think so

Good Gourmet Burger. Colleagues and I have been to this location of Romer's for lunch. I've tried a few of the specialty burgers but always use the basic cheeseburger as the baseline for comparison between burger joints. <br/><br/>They have a selection of gourmet cheeses and fresh toppings, this cheeseburger came with 5 different types of cheese. The meat was flavorful and made on a flat top with nice sear on the patty. One criticism I had was the brioche buns which crumble and the burger falls apart in your hands as you eat it. Fries are pretty good. Romer's is a solid choice for a burger if you like, and can deal with the brioche buns.
Eastvanfoodies
Ok burgers and poutine, but the waitresses are useless and always super bitchy when we've been there. Good location, shame we don't have more options in the area
Jenn
Extraordinary prices, unextraordinary food. The burgers are just 'meh', especially when you factor in the price and the fact that they don't come with a side of fries like most places. Nothing special or memorable and this is what they specialize in- they are a burger bar after all! The donuts were better than the burgers, but still not amazing. Chili fries were decent, but nothing to make me want to make a return visit. Not impressed.
Chocopie
Pricey but not bad. Good quality food. It is indeed expensive and I think that's what most people are complaining about. The waitresses are so confused and forget to fill up your drinks, likely due to a high turnover rate as each individual has to be re-trained (but this is only an assumption). I guess it does not matter what people comment on about this restaurant because it is ALWAYS busy. The are no other restaurants you can get to by walking if you live in river district. Rumour has it that the owner of the restaurant has strong connections with the mayor, thus the prime location. I gave this restaurant a "like" because I thought the burgers tasted pretty good, especially the jerk chicken burger.
Ssvernon
Amazing Allday breakfast Burger. I love this place but I go there because I love the Sap Sucker Maple Porter by Fernie Brew Co. and the ultimate Breakfast burger & home made cut fries. I have to admit though I bring my own mayo & HP, but I do this for lots of other places too. Wings are awesome too!

We've tried this place a few times none of which have been great. Today will be the last time. Waited 40min for table, tables became available but it took a longtime for staff to clean them. Seemed to be a lot of people working but all seemed frazzled. Hostess lacked common sense in seating us, we had a wheel chair and she sat us and 2 other groups one right after each other, we were last and had to ask the 2 groups just seated to get up so we could pass by with the wheelchair. Food was cold and not that great. First time I've ever been to a restaurant that opens at 10am and only serves brunch for 2hours on a Sunday. They did accommodate and let us order brunch since we waited so long, but not worth the wait.

Have given Romers several tries since it's nearby. Always disappointed. Service is okay (staff always seems too busy). Food is greasy (soggy fries :(, often cold, and overpriced. This neighborhood needs a good little pub with good food. Romers is not it...
Andrea James
A lunch with coworkers<br/> I did not have a burger as I don't like the brioche buns, my colleague had one said it was just OK. I went with wings and a side of onion rings. I have to say this was probably the worst meal I have ever had. Wings were almost stale tasting, over cooked with an odd flavour. Onion rings were so dry and flavourless, even with the garlic dip. I do NOT get the hype. I will never go back.
Jackola
I have been going to Romer's since it opened but no longer go. Cause the service is horrible, the burgers their interpretation of medium rare is way off (close to very dry) and the beer pitchers are damn dirty. Every so often beer pitchers need to be washed with hot soapy water and not simply rinsed with water. Last time I was there I sent back two pitchers as there was food particulate matter inside. My fry order last time came as fry BITS. If I am going to pay a premium for my fries I want industry standard size fries !! Even McD has more consistent size fries. Lastly a high end burger should be juicy. You should see the moisture after the first bite. I think business is great there because if all the new condos and staff are just interested in turning over the tables.

Nice location and view serv.... Nice location and view<br/>service is slow, but no<br/>attitude problems like others reported<br/><br/>onion rings were rock hard. left in deep fryer too long<br/><br/>rib burger was very dry, worse, plate was not clean. still oily with fingerprints<br/><br/>chilli cheese fries were decent<br/><br/>unless they improve, probably not coming back. better burgers at earls, cactus, flying beaver, even white spot

Disappointed. I came for Brunch on June 1st, the setting is fantastic but not the food. I ordered the banana bread french toast with julienne apples and compote butter. The banana bread tasted like baking soda and the apples and butter we over run with the flavour of onions......dreadful. My friends thought there meals were ok, will not be back.
Muppet
Average at best. Burger only ok and service was lacking. Tried it once and probably won't be back.
Foodie604
Probably won't be going back. Medicore food, very slow waitress and very clumsy. She refilled my water and would splash all over me and my food?! Took forever to bring the bill around and the restaurant was not even half full. I do have to say one thing, whenever I have dined here, the owner/manager is ALWAYS there, don't know if thats a good or bad thing, but I respected that! He just needs to make sure all guests are taken care of because we definitely weren't and doubt we'll be heading back here again anytime soon...

Only for drinks. I'd only return to this place for drinks. There was NOTHING on the menu that remotely interested anyone in my party of 4 - and that's saying something. I hated the unisex bathrooms but loved the gorgeous building.

Not User Friendly. We were at romers on March 9 2013.The young lady at the reception was quite slow, then when somone came in and was seated ahead of us, my wife asked about it. She was brushed off with "I`ve been doing this a long time, Iknow what I`m doing. (that was our first hint). Later when I asked for a bit more coffee I was given a look that said to me "don`t bother me."<br/>This is not acceptable attitude from someone who is supposed to be providing a service.<br/>Then when we were getting ready to leave and paying our bill, rather than just giving change to one of our party, the waitress basically wanted to take her tip out of the change. My view is that the change should be given to the client, and he or she will decide on the tip.<br/>At that point I was not impressed, and thinking I shouldn`t leave any tip.<br/>We eat at restaurants several times a week, but we will not be eating at Romers any time soon .........

Burgers Good - Service Bad. Been here a few times, always have had great burgers. But the waitresses always seem very unfriendly.
Eaterofgoodfood
Dry with mustard. Ive given this place a few try's because its the only thing close and cool.<br/>But the both times ive had a burger its been dry, kind of tasteless except for the bed of grainy mustard. The garlic fries were basically soggy fries with a ton of copped garlic on it, way to over powering. The menu did not explain this, i expected something cooked into it,with a garlic type of dip.<br/>The waitress told me that the burger was only cooked one way, which was well done, and dry, I peeled to bun away and tried to just eat the burger, it was bland and dry, then add a huge dry bun..........

Attitude sucks. The young lady that greeted us was upbeat going to look for the wait on a table. Overruled by a rude old guy with nothing but attitude"she does not know who I have waiting, at least 45 minutes" in other words .you can wait !!! My money will gladly go elsewhere with that type of greeting gramps . Thanks but no thanks . We won't be back!!!! Keep the upbeat young girls and dump the old man. It starts at the front door and is called friendly

The science of a burger. I went here with a co-worker when it first opened up and been back a few times since. I spent 3 years perfecting my skills at burgers, and Romers has picked up on the same ideas I have. The huge patties are over powering and the perfect bun is also needed. Romers uses a brioche bun which is flavourful and nice, but they need more scale down the size and costs. I enjoyed the olives. It is very rare today to get olives on the menu, let alone decent olives.
Dining-out
Dissapointed every visit. We have visited Romers Fraiserview many times hoping it would improve but each time we are reminded that this is somewhere we dont want to spend our $. This visit, the service was great, management was engaged and the location is as always great, but the menu, value, food, or service has detered once again us from returning. This will be our last attempt at giving the location a try. As a local who has been very optimistic and hopeful we will not be returning. We have been hopeful for at least 5 visits now and have been dissapointed each time for various reasons. A local pub with quality food is needed in the area but Romers is unfortunately not it.

Tasty huge burgers...salads were dry and far too large (the people at our table couldn't finish them)..noisy place...hard to have a conversation but there is a patio thats quieter..modern interior with historical pictures of bc logging on the nearby fraser river...not sure we would rush back to eat there again...
Pinkfatboy
Tasty burger but expensive even for plain fries on the side. Too bad I couldn't get the burger cooked to the temperature of my choice. View was good and atmosphere was good. Service was slow with a larger group.

Rude & Snobby with OK food. Live in the area, been to Romer's many times. Food's just ok at the price point. You need to know what to order to get bang for buck. It's super annoying that the restaurant doesn't take reservations. And even when identifying that it's a special occasion there are no exceptions. It's attitude like that that will cause a restaurant's reputation to go down the drain. Hope that "restaurant policy" changes soon.

BRUNCH was really GOOD!!! Now we have a decent place to go for Bennies on the weekend. Had the basic Bennie and knew it was going to be good when I saw that the egg had been poached in water.; Obviously someone really knows their stuff on this kitchen. Serving was reasonable, well priced and the hollandaise was real (not premade powdered stuff you usually get). I was pleasantly surprised by Romer's brunch and will soon return.

Burgers by the river!. Such a nice view to have a meal, the server was great and attentive where she explained menu items we didn't understand with great detail (ie. the Drunken Doughnuts)<br/><br/>Had the Magic Mushroom, which was great with lots of mushrooms and the patty was pretty beefy.<br/><br/>The only gripe I had was the burger didn't come with a side order automatically. We had to order sides on top (poutine & onion rings) but the portions were sizable to share between my friends.

Nice patio to sit during summer time for food and drinks. Food is okay

Imagined it could have been a lot better. This was my first time trying this place, and I was extremely unhappy with the service. Before I get to that I will talk about the food though. I ordered the turkey asian lettuce wraps and they'd run out of turkey so they asked if I wanted pork (the other option for lettuce wraps) but I didn't, so my friend suggested they make it with chicken, which they did. They took literally over an hour from sitting down and ordering to get our food to us. The wraps came out and were delicious - but that could have been because I was starving by the time they came. We weren't checked on very often and basic things like extra side plates for chicken wings, extra napkins, extra cutlery because we were missing one at our table were hard to get with a waitress that wasn't around. They did give us free dessert for all the troubles we'd gone though with ordering, getting services, mixing up my friends' order, etc. But needless to say, my friends and I live in the area and we won't be going back.

Attempted to eat a late lunch here, but were ignored by the dozens of staff members who repeatedly zoomed by us. We even asked a host and a server an unrelated question just after we had sat down, and although we had our question answered, we still sat there with no greeting, no service, no nothing for about 15 minutes. We had to ask for someone to come and help us and just as we were standing up to leave, our server, who was serving the table right beside us the entire time, who we had already spoken to about our unrelated question, finally greeted us. She was polite and apologetic, but blamed her oversight on someone else. We would have stayed if she'd offered a complimentary appetizer or something, but she didn't. Won't be going back here.

Burgers are ok, rather go to white spot. It's a cool place nice location. If you never been there before do try it out.

A new gem in the neighborhood. Very surprised of how this neighborhood has developed. Right by the quiet water and an open patio for the sun.<br/><br/>Food was really good. A little surprised that the burgers were served alone without a side. For a $12 burger, I may have expected a little more. Had the Man's Man burger. Didn't amuse me like some bloggers had mentioned. Order garlic fries on the side. Was good, but in my opinion, was not outstanding. The drunkin mini doughnuts were truely outstanding. The dips were incredible.<br/><br/>Service was really good.

Dry burgers. But at least the brioche was good... I got the beef shortrib burger. I was a little mystified because I barely noticed the shortrib in there so I had to ask the waitress of it was indeed the right burger.<br/>The shortrib and onion was scant to say the least and the patty itself was a chore to choke down.<br/>My friend got the magic mushroom one... again, the mushrooms and cheese and arugula were very sparse.<br/>I thought it was go big or go home? You know it's not that great when your dining companion says the bun is better than the burger *ouch*.<br/>On the plus side, the onion rings and fries were decent... the highlight was probably the drunken donuts we had for dessert. Reviews of those mini donuts from heaven are spot on!

I was there last friday, since it was a 5 minutes drive from my house. nice location and friendly staff. i had the veggie portobello stack, it was okay, pretty bland. i guess since its a healthy option they didn't wanna ruin it by seasoning the veggies. their sangria was sweet and fruity but their mango mint iced tea was mostly iced tea, i couldn't really taste the mango in it. pricey place but i'd come back again and try one of their meat burgers.

Terrible customer service, not stroller friendly.. We came with the stroller and were about to be seated as the waitress found a great table for us outside, but on our way to the table we were stopped by two people, possibly a manager and another waiter, who said that they are congested and there is no space for our stroller!! <br/>since we were very hungry, we decided to take food with us. this was our second time at this place, first was in summer, and their food still sucks. my husband's burger (man's burger from their menu) was ok, mine was tasteless. I would give their food 3 out 5. <br/>to me it is just strange how they manage to be so bad. great location, great style, bad food, bad customer service.

Not impressed with Romers. Burgers are dry and served a la carte. Initial visit food was OK but subsequent visits they were consistently average e.to poor. Garlic fries-garlic too spicy hot at times to eat. Owner did nothing to introduce himself to locals and neighbors. Most people who eat here are not the locals but friends or those who go drive down from elsewhere for a walk. View of dirty Fraser river is awful. Just logs and murky water. Do yourself a favor and drive 5 minutes east to Cactus club or Red Robin if you want a deliciously good burger.

Just had a Man's Man Burger and onions rings. $20 for this takeout order. I had high expectations and it didn't even come close to pulling through.<br/><br/>It sure looks appetizing with the quality ingredients but it tastes average at best...Looks are deceiving.

Servers ignore you. We went to Romers yesterday afternoon in the sunshine to sample some of their wares. I had been there once before with a friend and had found it very tasty. This was the first time with my husband however. We were promptly seated on the patio with menus. However, although we saw at least 4 different servers and what appeared the manager mulling about, we were never served. After 15 minutes, we walked out. The restaurant was about 1/3 full at the time. The servers appear to have a bit of an attitude. I am never going back.

Great fries. We had the garlic fries and the yam fries. Both were very good. The burgers were good but not outstanding. Lower on my list of burger joints. Clean with a nice deck and location.
Holly
Great atmosphere. I ordered the mushroom burger. I thought it tasted good, but for the price of the burger, it should be heaping of mushrooms and boursin cheese, but it wasn't. The pickles and olives were really tasty - peanuts were a little on the bland side. The donuts were very good - my favorite is the maple whisky sauce. The atmosphere and service was good. FYI...they only have 2 bathrooms for both boys and girls - yuck!
The Poor Food-e
Meh. The burgers are only slightly above average and the quality of the patties are good but not great. I'd enjoy it enough to give it a "like", but not at the prices they charge.
Veg Out Vancouver
This place is really most appealing to a meat-eater, although there are some vegetarian appetizers. They have a gluten-free bun, but there is gluten in the veggie patty itself – so that doesn’t do a celiac vegetarian a lot of good. Salads would probably be one of the few things for vegans.<br/><br/>They’ve got a variety of house made dips and sauces for the fries. I got the truffle aioli, which was so rich and delicious. On a side note, truffles seem to be having an extended “moment”. I’m seeing truffle dips everywhere. Maybe it’s because they are one of Oprah’s favourite things?<br/><br/>I would go back to try the burger with the skinny bun or one of the brunch options. I give it three spinach leaves out of five.

...once you are on the patio you really don’t want to leave. The view is amazing with the river, a small kids play area and lots of people out for an evening stroll with their dogs and loved ones. It’s a chillax place to be.

Romer’s Burger Bar is a small chain burger joint in Vancouver. This one is particular is the Yaletown location in Downtown Vancouver. It is decent in size with a nice modern atmosphere and has a nice patio area as well. As the name suggest, they specialize in burgers and it does not disappoint.

Burgers were good, not great

If you haven’t been, I’d suggest you check out this new burgeoning community at the foot of Kerr St, literally right at the Waterfront. Not only is there a community centre, many townhomes, and a farmer’s market, there’s a scenic trail running alongside the Fraser. But anyways, this new community is also the site of a Romer’s Burger Bar, and, in the spirit of trying new things, off we go! Not really in a mood for a burger, I tried the Grilled Quinoa Cake (11.00).   The salad was nice and fresh (the lettuce and the beets), which I hoped they would be, for this price lol. The eggs…where to start? One of them was done perfectly with a soft exterior and runny inside, though the other’s yolk was completely solid, tsk tsk. The potatoes were very crispy and quite well seasoned (despite looking bland at first glance). The quinoa cake itself had an almost savoury taste to it, and boy it had a kick too! A couple of times, had to down some water to keep the spice away…though you and I both know,

After a "LONG STUDY" session (feel the lies coming out of the capitalization and air quotes), we decided to go for a little lunch break. We were literally a quarter block away from Romer's since we were studying at a friend's new apartment in the neighbourhood.  In the midst of midterm season, we were hopeless wreaks, did not understand a single concept. Why must life be so hard? WHY? Anyways... Situated in the newly made River District, Romer's Burgers  is one of the first (the only) restaurants to open up here by the water. With the nice weather we picked a table outside to enjoy the sunlight while it lasts. Hello, raincouver right? Decisions, decisions... decided to pick drinks first and oddly enough we all picked the same drink. Mango Mint Iced Tea - $5  Truth be told, I didn't taste the mango. It tasted like the concentrated pulp remains of an orange juice bottle with the texture of a blended mango, seed included. The pulp tasted grainy in a sense. A drink I finished nonetheless b

We had a great lunch and decided that this is a place worth revisiting to try other options on the menu. I was also happy to watch a bit of Roger Federer in a tennis match and the Australian team make an olympic record in the Women’s 4X100m Freestyle Relay event. Vince also discovered they have free Wi-Fi and we watched a few olympic blunder(falls) video clips as well.
Domo Is Craving...
Hey Everyone, Had lunch with my coworkers yesterday at Romer's in River District, the one on Kerr by Marine. We had no idea this restaurant was part of the Dine Out program as well, so this was a pleasant surprise! Normally the burgers don't come with any fries, but with the Dine Out menu, you get fries included, along with an appetizer and their mini donuts for dessert! Here's the Dine Out menu: It might be a little hard to read, but there are actually two options here, the $18 menu or the $25 menu. This is the second time I've been to this location, and the third time I've dined at a Romer's. After each of those two visits, I came out pondering why Romer's was considered as such a good burger joint by many of my friends. While the first two times weren't very impressive, I was hoping this third visit would change my opinion of Romer's.  I decided to start off with a Thomas Kemper Craft Brewed Rootbeer $4 ; no alcohol today! This rootbeer was very delicious! The fizz isn't too strong, right on point, and the flavour is just so smooth! Definitely a must try for all you rootbeer lovers out there! I ordered from the $18 menu, so for starters, I had the  Tomato Basil Soup (normally $6.95) . This soup was actually very tasty! Very rich with a little bit of spice to it! What you see on the side are a few squares of grilled cheese sandwiches, which they consider as "croutons" to go with the soup! I only found out about these being croutons after the fact because I ended up eating them first straight up, because I love grilled cheese sandwiches! I was disappointed to find out however, that they were cold, which should have been a hint that these were meant to be croutons for the soup, and not consumed separately as actual sandwiches. All in all, a very good starter. For the burger, I chose the  Magic Mushroom Burger (normally $12.95) . This is a hand-crafted beef patty, topped with carmelized onions, sauteed portobello mushrooms, herb garlic Boursin, and baby arugula. Thes

I enjoyed the balanced tastes and textures of the patty, toppings, and bun. The crispy onion strings on the Man's Man looked delicious, though everything on that plate was gone within five minutes. The Magic Mushroom disappeared slowly. By the end of our time, we regretfully did not have room for dessert. If anyone tries the Famous Drunken Doughnuts or the Warm Chocolate Sticky Toffee Pudding, please tell me how you like them!

It was honestly a piece of fine art how well everything complimented each other. (One word of Caution: don’t order it if you don’t like mustard

I had The Chorizoder ($12.95). Goodness, that’s expensive for a burger. It also came with no sides so I was expecting it to be the best burger I’ve had to date with this high of a price tag. Unfortunately, that’s not how it went.<br/><br/>The Chorizoder is packed with chorizo-spiced pork and beef patty, cheddar, pepper jack, Boursin, vine-ripened tomato, sweet onion, avocado, and Diablo sauce. First of all, one one half of the burger, a large portion of the patty was pretty burnt and fell out of the bun already. It came to me like that…as if the people who burnt the patty had no care. Let’s just serve this person overcooked food…<br/><br/>I didn’t really taste any chorizo-ness in the burger; it looked more like a chorizo combo patty than tasted like one; it needed more kick! It seems like there’s so much flavour in this burger, it canceled each other out. The concept of this bun was good, but the taste didn’t linger and if I ever go back, I probably will opt for fish tacos. I was most intrigued by the (slightly dry) brioche bun; not the typical hamburger bun I usually see in other restaurants.
Two Hungry Piglets
This is a pretty righteous burger: thick cut applewood bacon, amber ale cheddar, onion strings, tomato and mustard. You had me at thick cut bacon. I'm jealous because Mr. Piglet ordered this and it smells and, more important, tastes awesome. I love the crunch that the onions give and a that bit of bite from the mustard. Hm, $10 for this burger... worth it more so than the other burger but still very expensive. However, when you add in the sad poutine, this meal was also $18. Holy cow. I've never paid so much for two burgers, sides and drinks.
Somerville Kitchen
Nice natural chunk of beef covered with port-braised onions, creamy Stilton and fresh thyme leaves. The additions don't overwhelm the meat, only enhance it.

Eating With Kirby
B-boy ordered the Romer's Righteous Rib Burger ($12.00) which contains " thick-sliced applewood bacon, braised short rib, sweet onions, Gorgonzola garlic sauce, and fresh thyme leaves ". The burger is served on a lightly grilled (maybe too lightly) brioche bun.
