Review Scandilicious Foods - Vancouver

This place is becoming one of my two go-to brunch spots in the hood. Staff are friendly, food is consistently good, and coffee is strong! Usually order the basic breakfast but today I tried the chicken and waffles. Did not disappoint, but I would have preferred a crunchier waffle. Portion was so big I had to pack up half to take home. Their patio is covered - It was pleasant despite the traffic along Powell. UPDATE: We took home a pound of their in-house roasted espresso beans - delicious! Will go back to buy more soon!

Scandilicious got something for everyone. Want a Smørrebrød, waffles or else? Had a “Scandilicious” waffles this morning. The quality is good, and presented with great care. However, I did not feel welcome as I walked into the restaurant. The lady at the counter was kinda cold, inhospitable, almost standoffish. On the other hand, the gentleman name “Mackenzie” who took the order was attentive and friendlier than her. I’m not a complicated guest by any means, but people are more willing to come back and spend money without having to deal with stuck up and sour staff.

Yum! Yum! Yum! Good vibes with great waffles. It was my first time here so I talked to one of the staff and she suggested me to get the chicken & waffles. Did not regret! The chicken was crispy but juicy inside, kinda heavy on the batter but it added to the texture. If you like the sweet and savoury flavour combination, this is definitely a good item to order.

Great selection of savoury & sweet waffles, with breakfast & sandwiches available too. The waffles have a vegan option which I've been told are quite tasty. I had the Valhalla savoury waffle: the spicy jam was very delicious paired with the rich crispy bacon bits & maple syrup. The portion sizes were good & service was friendly. I only wish I left some space to try a sweet waffle!

I was told this place is a hidden gem known for amazing breakfast and lunch fare..and I couldn't describe it any better! I had the omelette of the Day - assortment of fresh veggies, ham, and mozzarella cheese - with bacon and toast - it was phenomenal! My wife ordered the Norsky with poached eggs - cooked perfectly, with nugget potatoes and bacon. Everything we ordered - including my cafe mocha was 10/10. Highly recommend this great place! we will be back for the waffles next time!

We were very excited to try this restaurant. We ordered the Chicken and Waffles and the MBJ burger. Food looked great but tasted even better. Ingredients tasted very fresh and high quality. Burger bun was amazing - apparently it was made in house from scratch too. Chicken was very tender. Highly recommend checking them out.

I was pleasantly surprised by this place! I was in the neighborhood the day before I tried it out, and then brought my partner there. She ordered Den Beste and I had thew Chicken and Waffles. They were both excellent. I enjoyed the coffee as well. As far as spacing out the restaurant and access to hand sanitizer, everything was all there and we felt safe eating there. Austin was our Server, he was great and took good care of us giving great recommendations on the menu!

Cute breakfast/lunch place. Often busy, but go in the afternoon to avoid the rush. Waffles are good and ready quick. Been several times lately and have been satisfied with the service and food everytime. There is a good variety on the menu for a brunch place: sweet waffles, savoury waffles, eggs, grilled sandwiches, etc. Very cozy decor. Update: Have been very impressed with their COVID protocols and they've added big umbrellas to the door patio area. For take out, they've really thought packaging the food.

Open short hours but worth the visit. Great food with some gluten free and vegan options. Reasonably priced. Really good service with helpful attentive staff

Delicious! I'm the only GF person in my family but I chose this restaurant for Mother's Day brunch bases on reviews. It's a long way to go from Cloverdale but totally worth it! I had the lovers GF waffle, my youngest had the vegan waffle with peanut butter, berries and bananas, my oldest had a cheeseburger and my husband had an egg dish. Everyone loved their meal and wants to go back again. They could do with more seating and prices were a little high but that comes with the specialized ingredients.

Favourite breakfast spot for our family. The food (especially the waffles) are heavenly. Everything is home made, and we really enjoy their gluten free treats. Best in Vancouver!!

After waiting in a long line behind a "please wait to be seated sign", the hostess showed us to a table. She didn't mention we were supposed to order at the counter. After sitting for several minutes we figured it out and stood up to order at the counter. While we were waiting in line, the hostess seated someone else at our table. Since we no longer had a place to sit and we didn't want to disrupt the older couple who were now settled in at our former table, we left without breakfast.

Expensive, and Scandinavian in that you have to order and pay at the counter, but worth it for the quality of the food.
Eva Sosnowska
Always excellent. My fav breakfast place since they are great at making modifications for allergies and their chicken and waffles are out of this world.

I tried the Valhalla Waffles and I just loved them, the combination of flavors was just perfect!! This are the best I have ever trid!

I planned to take a picture of my food when it arrived but I just couldn't wait.... absolutely delicious!!!

My sister & I have brunch here fairly regularly. She is GF, and I am always hungry, I prefer the GF waffles, as I love the almond & coconut flour, the waffles are beyond amazing. I have tried just about every waffle combonation on the menu.. Simply awesome..

First time visiting and everything we had was great. Simple and delicious~ will probably dropping by again in the near future!

This is an excellent restaurant! Great staff, wonderful Norwegian food!

At first I thought "Salmon on a waffle??? What is this madness?!?!?" Do yourself a favour and try it, it was unbelievable.

Great service and awesome food! Want to try other waffles. So many good looking waffles. Yummy!

Excellent restaurant. Great food and fair price!!!
Yes. We,re Eating Again.
Located at the very foot of Victoria Drive near Powell Street, we arrived Saturday morning at around 10:30 and were able to get a table right away. Our intention was to order whatever sounded most Scandanavian but my love of chicken and waffles got the best of me. So not exactly Viking chow but this was really very good. I always tend to grumble about waffles as being too doughy or thick or not crispy enough but these were actually pretty good. Evidently, they are "Brussels" or "Belgian" waffles and are light because there is some leavening involved. The chicken was also nicely done. It was a piece of white meat butterflied and remained moist (white meat can get dry) and tender. I assumed brined but they said no! Just very carefully fried evidently. Now, this seems more like something my Icelandic relatives would approve of! Smorrebrød with Salmon was served with a thin slice of house-made sourdough bread, smoked salmon (obviously), cucumber. capers, lemon, mayo, red onion and dill. Delightful! Just so you know, it took me a while to figure out how to type the o with a slash through it! Finally, we had Liege waffles with 4 dips. These waffles were a little sweeter owing to pearls of sugar within the dough. The dips were chocolate, whipped cream, a ginger chocolate kind of thing, which was excellent and a strawberry concoction which was also very tasty and fruity. Scandilicious has seating for probably a couple of dozen people inside (fewer at the moment) as well as tables outside. Service is friendly and at least partly Scandanavian. I honestly didn't know that John Catucci had gotten here before us but I can see why he dropped in. I guess you really do 'gotta eat here.'

I love this place; however, you truly have to time the time to go because it can get packed. The staff really know the menu and can help you choose from some of the great dishes.

I have always gone there for the waffles and after you’ve had one you will never go back. The first one I tried was the soul mate. It is the perfect marriage of chocolate, peanut butter and Nutella, topped with whipped cream. The flavours melt in your mouth and though it is so decadent you crave for more. The other one I’ve tried is monkeys munchies. It is a waffle that has bananas and peanut butter cooked inside with cookie dough, caramel a drizzle and whipped cream. You may think it’s an odd combo, but they work real well together.

I am planning on trying to savoury waffles, but one at a time and after you have a sweet one; it may take you months to recover before you return. However, it is a place you will keep returning to.
I love Scandinavian culture and food and I wanted to try this place for a while. Thankfully, I managed to do that today. While they had a good selection of savoury and sweet waffles, I wanted eggs. I ordered the Norsky which included kumle (Norwegian potato dumplings). Thinking it wasn't going to be enough, I asked if I can add toast to my order and they accommodated that request. Turns out they were generous with the kumle and gave me 4 large pieces. You'll definitely be full afterwards. The only thing I wish is that they had more selection for smørrebrød. Particularly ones without dill on it, for picky eaters like myself. They only had 2 kinds. I did see a glimpse of them and they looked great so if dill is your thing, order it for a Scandinavian experience.

Food is amazing and so different from other restaurants. Great service and nice staff! Family and including my young kids loved it! We will back! : )

Today’s post is a bit special and different, because it features Scandinavian brunch! Once you get in, you wait to get seated and then you order at the counter. I found the ordering process to be a bit slow, especially when it is a full house. It seemed like ‘slow’ was the theme of the restaurant, but whatever, we weren’t in a rush that day. Other reviews have mentioned that it is quite slow here too, so you have been warned. Hangover Helper: Finally, our food came! The boyfriend’s egg bennies came with ham, and green onions served on their signature waffle. He enjoyed his dish and in particular, he noted how delicious their Hollandaise sauce was.

This is a nice cafe/bakery located near the end of Victoria Drive, just a few blocks from Hasting Street. They are probably best known for their waffles, although they do also serve burgers, sandwiches and other breakfast/lunch items, as well as a small selection of baked goods. You order at the front counter, and the staff brings you your food once it's ready. During my visit, I had their Chicken and Waffles and Monkeys Munchies waffle. While I did find their chicken to be a bit sub par, their waffles are very tasty. Definitely a good breakfast/lunch joint that's worth paying a visit to.

Chicken and Waffles ($16):
3.5/5
This consisted of fried chicken that was served with a cornbread-style waffle, maple bacon, sour cream, and maple syrup. I wasn't the biggest fan of the fried chicken: although it was tender, there wasn't all that much meat present and it was not as crispy as I would have liked. I also found it to be a tad bland, although it was still enjoyable. I quite enjoyed the waffle, which was a bit crispier and chewier, and had a slightly savoury, spicy flavour to it.

Monkeys Munchies ($9):
4.5/5
This consisted of a Brussels waffle topped with peanut butter, cookie dough, bananas, whipped cream, peanut butter caramel sauce, and crushed peanuts. I absolutely loved this waffle: it had a perfect balance between salty from the peanut butter and sweet from the cookie dough, whipped cream, and bananas. The waffle had a great fluffiness and chew.

Summary:
Food: 4/5
Price: 4/5
Service: N/A
Overall: 4/5
Recommendations: Monkey's Munchies

Scandilicous was a pleasant find. We were looking for a brunch place to try and I happened to stumble upon this place in a quick search. Sign outside advertising their omelette of the day. They also have a dirt cheap sunrise special (7:00am to 9:00am on weekdays) for $5.99! If I ever woke up that early, I’d be all over that.

My husband and I couldn't believe our ears. The food is nothing to write home about, but the treatment of the staff by the owner was absolutely appalling!!

The waffles are tasty and the portions are big. We came here for Dine Out Vancouver 2018 and were pleased with the value for our money. More fresh fruit/veggies would have been appreciated to balance out the meals, but otherwise it was a good experience.

We ordered these two waffles and then traded halves. The waffles were really nice, crunchy and chewy, delicious. The toppings were good but had a few flaws, the poached eggs were poached hard, which is unfortunate in my opinion, and the Abba waffle needed three times as much brie and some kind of sauce to stop it from being a little dry. However, the hollandaise was nice and tangy and the bacon was plentiful.

• hidden gem along Victoria drive
• street parking available
• opens at 0700
• try to limit your stay for an hour as it gets busy and place has limited seating capacity
• would be nice if they open a patio during summer
• fresh fruits on their waffles
• good serving size, to share if you're not a big eater
• Apple Pie waffle is delicious, its like eating an apple pie on a waffle. The crisp apples, caramel sauce and bountiful whipped cream + cinnamon hits the spot
• the Lover's was good too with fresh berries
• coffee is good!
• friendly servers; go order at the desk and they'll bring your food on your table

Not sweet enough, or maybe I was just craving more sugar after only 2 hours of sleep following a graveyard shift. Lots of spices and foam near the top, but it wasn’t very strong. Again… maybe because of the graveyard shift. Cost $4.50, and didn’t make me feel sick. Waffles were good too. I like it.

Great waffles. Plain were awesome, chicken and waffles was worth every penny. Been here twice in two days! Coffee was subpar but jj beans across the street is killer

Great place for brunch. Nice and delicious.
Been here a few times and still can't beat the waffles. Expanded menu for breakfast and brunch a bonus

I've been here a couple of times and have always enjoyed the food! The coffee is a little like (not acidic but just light) for me but that's ok. I really enjoy the abba waffle, the waffle is flight and fluffy. This is my go to place when craving waffles.

When I first heard the name “Scandilicious”, thoughts of food porn immediately came to mind. After all, why else would they put the word “scandal” in their name? Well, as it turns out, the “scandi” part of their name derives from “Scandinavian” food. Scandilicious used to be located on Commercial Drive before they moved to their current location at the foot of Victoria Drive near Powell. The neighbourhood is filled with a mix of light industrial buildings but has a feeling similar to The Drive, just a bit quieter.

Stopped in on Toonie Tuesday for some waffles, crisp and delicious. Ladies were friendly, they caught a mistake on billing that I didn't see and made sure to let me know and got me my money back, nice to see that kind of conscientiousness and honesty. Coffee was good too. :-)
DineVancity
Sure they have good waffles and all but their service really sucks. Maybe it was just the day I went? I'm just really hoping that the employees are a little happier if I were to come back and eat again.

Scandilicious (溫哥華最好吃的北歐風味鬆餅)
地址:25 Victoria Drive, Vancouver, BC
電話:604-877-2277
營業時間:Mon-Fri 7am-5pm; Sat & Sun 9am-5pm

Cute, cozy little spot for waffles just off Powell. I had their ABBA waffle, which had apples, Brie, bacon bits, and avocado. The Brussels waffle was light and fluffy, and not too dense. A nice combination of flavours, but I definitely could've used more avocado!
DanoRama
Oh man oh man, this place rocks. Maybe it's because it's just down the street from me, how we they have mastered the waffle and aren't shy about it. You can get the waggle just about any way here savoury or Sweet and your mouth will be watering to the last bite. Gonna try there sandwiches next time. Such amazing food. Was confused why they serve crappy canned orange juice though. They should have fresh squeezed juices there.
Somerville Kitchen
It may not look fancy, but is sure a unique place filled with entertaining good freshly baked food and the next generation of Vancouver's hipsters. It took me a while to choose my meal. But how could I resist a 'Leaf Ericson' waffle - a freshly made waffle with humus, veggies and melted cheese. And yes, it tastes as good, if not better, than you think

We got there before the brunch rush on a sunny Saturday morning and were able to enjoy a leisurely meal. I split an order of the chicken and waffles, then the chocolate and strawberry waffle called "The Lovers." Both were good, but it's the chicken and waffles that will have me coming back. Nice ambience, friendly service and worth a walk down from the Drive.

Messed Up My Order and I can make better GF waffles. I ordered their spicy chocolate bacon burger with a salad and a gluten free waffle. They had recommended their gluten free bread to me so I said yes to using it as my burger bun. It was only after I paid that they told me they've run out of their gluten free bread. So I ended up getting my burger with a lettuce wrap instead, got fries instead of the salad that I had ordered, and they never gave me the bacon. Their gf waffle needs major improvement. Extremely soggy and not crunchy at all. I can make much better crispier gf waffles at home.

Could use improving IMO. On my first visit here during their first 2 weeks of opening, I gave it a 'Like' vote as I liked the place, the folks serving me and things are generally far from perfect during an eatery's first month or so. I've given it a 'Dislike' today as I've visited several times since and there really isn't any improvement. While front service is quite cheery and efficient, the kitchen still seems disorganized to me. Cold eggs for breakfast, longish wait times, do not have the items on menu etc. Also, while I think the prices on their waffle menu are generally good, I think the meals, coffees and baked offerings are too high. Last time I ordered brussels waffles, they were awful as well - rubbery. Have they been overmixing the dough mixture? I have had them be delicious in the past. The meals advertised sound really nice and interesting on paper, but rather plain upon eating (does not apply to the waffles however). Not that I do not love basic dishes. I think the most enjoyable recipes are basic when prepared/cooked and served well.
The resto itself is lovely with lots of natural light and although seating is not plentiful, they have not cramped it which is comfortable.

Creative Classics. Some of the best waffles around. Even though many of the creations look like they're trying to be original, they are actually remakes of Scandinavian classics. I mean that as a compliment. Seriously. This place reminds me of my granndmother's cooking and is now one of my all time favourite breakfast places.

Not many places would play up a Scandinavian style of cooking but I'm so glad that this place risks being called "boring" by embracing their heritage. Besides, it's long past time we re-examine some of the long accepted culinary stereotypes and admit that there is really good traditional food that doesn't come from France, Italy, India or Thailand.

Now that my rant is over, come here for the waffles. Seriously, you'll love it.
Extrememom
Port side location: Ambience relaxed, despite all tables being full. Helpful, friendly staff.

Meatballs were good but not as moist and juicy as I would prefer in a ball of meat. Could be more flavourful.

The waffles, however, wow. I normally have my guard up when an establishment makes a claim as bold as being the best, but this so far, is the best I've tried. I opted to try the gluten-free waffle. The Abba. Apple, bacon, brie, avacado with balsamic vinegar drizzle. So moist, slightly sweet describes the waffle. With its dressings it blossoms into a full bodied beauty. The flavour combo worked really well, complex but not over the top. Fans of the cafe Finch's will recognize this topping combination. It translates well bedded on a waffle.

For anyone on the hunt in a city becoming crowded with options, for a good value on breakfast or brunch, give this place a try.

To die for sourdough. A friend and I stopped into Scandilicious the other day and were very pleasantly surprised. The interior is full of wood and has a very warm and cozy vibe. The man who served us was was so helpful and friendly he really helped make our experience enjoyable. We both had breakfast, I had a traditional eggs, potatoes and bacon breakfast while my friend had a savory waffle. Hers was some sort of bacon jam on bacon with more bacon monstrosity but she thoroughly enjoyed it and would recommend it. My breakfast was well made and was a good sized portion for the price. But what really threw me over the edge was my toast! The sourdough was incredible, best I've had in a long time. I had to go back a few days later to get a loaf and it did not disappoint! Next time, I'll have to try their rye!
