Review Sushiholic - Vancouver

A small sushi restaurant located on the busy street of Denman. Simple menu with fast-food style Japanese food. My tuna sashimi was not fresh and the lemon was old and dry. The waitress never came to add tea to our empty pot without I asked. Not a good experience. Won’t be back again.

Stopped in for dinner on Saturday night with some friends. We were all impressed with the quality of service and food. The sashimi was fresh and all of the rolls were excellent. I think this possibly might be my new favourite sushi joint in town. Highly recommended!

Ordered take out to enjoy at English Bay. Store is located closer to Robson than English bay. Near Haro and Denman. Menu prices online are not accurate. Goma-ae did not taste fresh and sauce was very watery. Rainbow roll kept falling apart and wasn’t as good as anticipated. The party tray is decent value, 54 pieces for $29.95. Also if you order during happy hour 4-6, you get 15% off. If I’m in the area will try dine in once before final Judgement.

Ive been here several time whenever I go to English beach. This restaurant is very cozy. It’s located great location especially during the summer to order take out and the prices are affordable. The quality of food is great. The fishes here are always fresh 💜 Also the staffs here are very friendly all the time.

I really like this place - small enough and quiet. The sushi and rolls are well made with really fresh ingredients. Our waitress was super nice, and the food came out really quickly. Prices were quite reasonable, and definitely better compared to some other places in the some area.

Last time I will order from Sushiholic. The Awesome Roll became smaller and poor however the price has increased. $8.95 for that california topped with fried yams you see in the picture. Also ordered a veggie yakisoba, never seen with so little veggies in it. All prices have increased while quality decreases.

Fairly bland food. Somewhat overpriced for what they give you. The awesome roll which was recommended, tasted like a California roll with cold fries on top. To much mayo not enough flavour.

Decent quality for the price. Many different innovative sushi rolls to choose from, including some deep fried rolls - which I did not dare to try. <br/>I ordered the good old California rolls, the egg nigiri and the Inari nigiri. Not bad at all. Convenience little restaurant for a quick simple lunch.

Sad excuse for service. There was hair in the food AND in the food they brought me after I complained. Should've given it to me for free but they didn't. Disgusting place and service. They don't speak English. Never coming back <br/>

I wouldn't say there is anything special about this place other than its name. It's a pretty standard sushi restaurant with average prices. Menu items are expensive nor cheap, however there roles and sashimi pieces are tiny. Sushi was of good quality though.

This restaurant sure is busy. We had to wait for 10mins which is nothing. Once we got the seat, we start ordering food. I love the awesome roll, the yam fries on top are so crunchy, very thin slice. The Las Vegas Roll is good too, has 3 different colors of tobiko on top and its deep fried roll. I always love potato coquette. Everything we eat are delicious. Price are good. We finished everything since we are too hungry. I just hope this restaurant are bigger so a lot of ppl can come.

I’ve seen some really great Instagram posts about Sushiholic so I convinced my friends to check it out after biking around the seawall. I believe their original location is on East Broadway near Boundary Road. I visited their Denman location and it has a bit of a cozy feel with their brick walls and dim lighting.

Sushiholic on Denman is a smallish place if you look from the doorway, but there's a side room with larger tables for larger groups. We went for a slightly later Friday dinner (7 pm) and the restaurant was quite quiet. I'm no sushi expert, so as long as it doesn't taste stale or fishy, and I don't need soy sauce, it's all good to me. Sushiholic on Denman satisfies these conditions. Where Sushiholic distinguishes itself are its  Special Maki Rolls , which have ace presentation and "wow" factor. Strangely, their taste is not too special, and some rolls are "spicy" (meaning they liberally use some sort of mild chili sauce), which also covers up other flavours. Some of the rolls are deep fried, which sounds like it should have deep-fried flavour and crunchy fun, but sadly I found that lacking, which was disappointing (they also weren't oily, though, which is a plus). Of the special maki rolls, some noteworthy ones are: Awesome Roll ($7.95 for 8 pieces) Great fun with the generous heaping of shredded-into-vermicelli yam "fries" on top. Ever Green Roll ($8.95 for 12 pieces) This is sort of a budget option and the vegetarian alternative, but for omnivores I found this bland. The use of mango might have been interesting if it stood out more. Fire Dragon Roll ($11.95 for 8 pieces) prawn tempura, mayo, cucumber, avocado, crispy bits and spicy tuna on top This really looks like a Chinese dragon! Plus there's a nice touch with the sauce "flames". Absolutely worth a look. Volcano Roll ($14.95 for 8 pieces) deep fried roll with asparagus, spicy tuna, cream cheese, avocado, cucumber, half spicy tuna sashimi (normally $10.95) Aside from what you get in sushi, this is a pretty good deal because there's tuna sashimi inside the "volcano" cone made from the sushi slices. However, everything inside the "volcano" is swimming in chili sauce. Even the tuna, which is smaller bites mixed with small cubes of cucumber. Because of the chili, you can barely taste any tuna, honestly. I suspect th

Fantastic sushi. Huge pieces of sashimi! The volcano roll was so delicious. Great friendly service. All the staff, including the chefs, welcomed us on our way in and all thanked us on the way out. A must try.

Never again. A Wednesday night in August,<br/>no holiday, not a weekend, just a quiet Wednesday night.<br/>We live in the west end and order sushi all the time, we have a favorite but we try different places also.<br/>18:35 we decided to call a 'new' place Sushiholic. I get sashimi, my partner gets some sushi and we order an extra gioza. We are told 30min preparation time... ok that is twice our regular favorite, but Sushiholic has great reviews!<br/>I arrive at 19:05, I recognize the place it was a sushi bar under a different name six months ago... I have to pay right away, then I start to wait...<br/>Our regular place has 'helpyourself' green tea 'bar', not here. And no offer either.<br/>The table close to me call the waitress ''we ordered four meals received three, but we are charged for four...'' I am thinking, oups... still waiting.<br/>Still waiting,<br/>if I had not paid already I would leave by now but I am trapped.<br/>Passing 19:30 now, and someone calls for a girl's name, this looks like my order and I was the only take-out left there. So I ask to look... yep it is my order alright, they just have the name wrong (but took my $)<br/>Yeah we got our food, rush home!<br/>Humm the box is kinda ... not filled, ''how is yours honey?''... "well kind of ok"<br/>''And the gioza?", "well...", "yeah mine are kind of burnt too."<br/><br/>I am eating this as I write the review, The salmon is nice now, the tuna still has to thaw a bit more...<br/>the layer of sliced cabbage is not covering up its 'cheap' purpose. <br/>The rice is regular sticky rice not the nice Japanese rice with sweet vinegar.<br/>The wasabi is yummy, the ginger was lovely, the leaf of kale was stale (just don't put it in, pls).<br/>Did we hit a bad day? Maybe.<br/>Our fav place has one issue, it is inconsistent in quality, but this place is lower then our fav place low... <br/>Maybe they are also on occasion higher then our fav place high.<br/>...But we will never know.<br/>did i mention that on the good reviews we decided to try Sushiholic despite the fact that they are about 20% more expensive than the surrounding, 'less obvious' sushi bars?<br/>.... I am a small business owner, all of my customers gets the same service, sometime it is easy to do so sometime not, i make sure my customers do not see the difference.

Ordered the vegetable roll and it was as beautiful as it was tasty. Chicken udon was also excellent. Good quality chicken and broth.

Another solid addition to Denman. Cuts of fish are super fresh, maybe I was lucky but the tuna and salmon was great (albeit atlantic). dynamite roll was good, seared white tuna was good, only the ebi gyoza fell a bit short for me. Prices are good but still not as cheap as momo down the street, still a good spot for a local though!

Today, I decided to go to a new Japanese restaurant in the quaint village of West End whose name perfectly describes myself. They have another branch at Broadway and Rupert and that branch has gained quite some popularity. I believe that their location at Denman is larger and more spacious than their original location. Looking at the menu, I saw that fried items were very well represented in comparison to the other categories, and it was quite tempting for me to order only fried items.
