Review Biercraft - Vancouver

Y Czerski
Very decent taphouse. We chose to sit at the patio, which is very small but we were glad we could eat outside. Not sure why, but in the beginning, our waitress was somewhat cold towards us, but later it changed, so no biggie. Exciting menu, both for drinks and food. I liked that beer came with a portion of popcorn with some good mix of spices. Little thing, but leaves a good impression. We didn't eat much, I guess, but we liked everything we tried. I haven't seen Chicharron in a while, so it was a treat for sure. I also really liked the mussels and wings. Overall it was a pleasant stay with good drinks and decent food — nothing to complain about.

Had a great light dinner. Really enjoyed the French onion soup and grilled cheese with bacon. The Belgian fritos were really good too! Definitely recommend trying their house amuse for the fries as well.

I went here on a Tuesday which just happens to be Taco Tuesday! 3 tacos for 10$ or something like that. They were amazing, I picked 3 different kinds and I have nothing bad to say. I don't personally drink so i can't comment on the beer, but they do have tons of different craft beers and a large selection of beer on tap. I would recommend coming here for a snack and a drink!!

I have been to Biercraft a few times and the food is usually pretty good. Obviously the vast beer selection is the main draw. Dropped by today to try the Halifax Donair from King Donair and was not disappointed. It is a very unique Donair, and very different from others you will find downtown. They will be serving them up till 11PM, so suggest dropping in if you have the time.

They do beer, lots of it. Also popcorn in small dishes to be eaten while you drink your beer. Excellent tapas and handhelds. Great service. Bathrooms are clean and kept up. Can be busy at nights but that’s how you know it’s good. Next time in town I will return, for beer.

Great experience altogether. Arrived at just after 6 on a rainy Sunday. Got seated right away. Place is cosy with plenty of room between tables. Service was friendly and efficient, making sure we had drinks and a clean table. Food was excellent, had a great time.

Definitely disappointed with this place. I'm not sure if it's due to COVID but the food and portion sizes are horrendous. I ordered the Manna burger for for myself and my 3 year old ($15.50 each which is to be expected) however, the portions were so small we were both still hungry afterwards. Honestly, it was comparable to a McDonalds cheese burger but for 3 times the price. My husband ordered the Biercraft burger and was equally disappointed and still hungry afterwards. On top of that we ordered a Shirley Temple with Vodka and were charged $16.50!! We told the server we would not pay that much for a glass of juice and one shot of vodka so she adjusted the price but talk about gouging your customers! We live in the neighborhood and hit up the drive regularly but we will not be returning to this place. I'm giving it one star because of the outside patio and additional picnic tables. Most definitely do not recommend.

Service here was exceptional and so was the food. I always order the mussels when I come here and side orders of friends and bread -- you can dip the bread in the mussel broth. My favourite flavour is the Madrid but I would recommend you come here a few times and try them all or else bring a group of 6 and everybody orders a different flavour. The beer selection is also great. My favourite beer is the Kwak which comes in a unique beer glass holder and is very fun. Highly recommended!

Bier Craft on commercial drive what has happened to you? Something has happened to your business and it's drastic. I remember recently when you had a menu that was to die for. Your muscles and
brunches were simply outstanding and delicious. We would drive in from far and wide, even late at night after dancing for a couple beers and eat. But now the menu is dull.

I’m sad that the service and quality of this location has gotten terrible after the buyout. When there are 6 people in the restaurant it shouldn’t take 20 minutes to get one beer.

Hello friends! It’s been a while since I’ve been so excited to share about a new restaurant, Biercraft. Last week, I was invited to try some of the items on the new Biercraft menu. I was delightfully surprised by how many international flavours they incorporated into their menu. Biercraft drink menu

During our July staycation, we were getting a hankering for some quality mussels and we headed down to our old stomping grounds on Commercial Drive only to be disappointed that our destination (Carthage Cafe) was closed despite their hours saying they should have been open. After a hurried Google search, we headed 7 blocks north to BierCraft Tap and Tapas because their menu said they offered mussels.

Don't get cocktails here. Had a Dreamsicle (White Rum, Amaretto, Orange, Lime, Pineapple Habanero Syrup, Soda) and it was really watered down. It's also pricey.
Jen
A nice little patio, great on sunny days on Commercial Drive. Flavourful food albeit pricey, good beers with informative servers who generally know their stuff. An okay place to get dinner and a beer.

Decent food, big portions. Lovely beer, tried many and never been disappointed the flights are a good deal and the ambiance is casual and inviting.

What’s a warm summer day without some beer to cool you down? And one of my go-to’s is “Biercraft” on Commercial Drive, it’s accessibility by skytrain makes them a great place to drink. And when you can’t decide on what to sip on, a beer flight is the best way to go.

Great patio on Commercial Drive. Excellent and attentive service! Delicious brunch options including the classics and some more creative options.

Haven't had such bad food in a very long time. Everything tasted off... even the calamari.. Both beef carpaccio and ahi tuna were covered in heavy sauces because they were not fresh. I went there because the good reviews. I felt so bad that i picked a bad place for a treat from friends. Money wasted....!

I asked for a suggestion on their dark beer and the waiter knew so much about beer and suggested one of the best dark beers I've tasted. I was only there for drinks this time so didn't get any food but the beer alone was worth the visit.

...ate at Biercraft on CommercialBiercraft, where they really do have the best mussels for such a great price (under $20 for a full pound), and such flavor. We got the one with the chorizo, and the Elderflower margarita and Blood Orange beer. The margarita reminded me of the ones at Las Margaritas, but in a smaller and safer portion. H thought one of the servers was cute, and I admit she was actually very nice and not all looks.

Came to BierCraft (Commercial Drive) for an official Yelp social with free appies plus one I tried to order but Yelp ended up paying for it anyway (thank you!). So, I didn't pay for anything, but I'm not obligated to BierCraft either. Overall, prices are daunting for food and portions that are just OK... BUT! -- they do have some surprising things here and there that nets them bonus points.

December 2015:
Gave this place a second chance with the gift cards we were given for the crumby meal last time. Not going back. Service is lax and food is mediocre at best. This place could probably do with some better management.

Worst cappuccino of my life: bitter, watered down coffee with some foam on top, probably a tasimo. Waffles (aka waffle) with Banana Foster literally just tasted like a dry waffle with a tiny bit of mushy banana on top; very bland. Tiny squirt of whipped cream melted immediately and didn't add anything to the dish. Still felt hungry afterwards.

Server was nice but not very attentive, had to wave her down a couple times. Doesn't seem to be any form of management; servers just milled about with no direction. Place was dead at 1pm on a Sunday. Wanted to love this place, but we'll give it a miss from now on.
--
November 2015:
Mixed feelings about this place. After waiting an hour for food, our brunch was completely cold and the poached eggs were basically hard-boiled. Felt like our food just got left under the heatlamp and forgotten.

However, the waitress and manager did everything in their power to address the situation. Gave us our food for free and gift cards for next time. The second round of food was better, but our dishes still came out 10 minutes apart, which left us eating our meals alone.

Hoping that our next venture to BierCraft will be better, because I want to like this place. The beer selection is fabulous and the severs actually know about the beers they serve.

I have been here before, but we were going on a pub crawl down Commercial Drive and this was listed as stop number two. It’s yellow stucco exterior and red roof were visible from its street corner. The narrow covered patio would have been nice on a warm day, but with today’s drizzle it was closed. Instead we were able to grab two tables and move them together to provide ourselves with a window watching view.

Brunch and Belgian beer 👌 Best spot in Vancouver to get your European beer fix. The ambiance is nice and warm inside and a great place for the patio. Food is amazing and so are their drinks. Can get a little busy and food can take a while to come out. Overall great experience
Kabir
Interesting menu as far as beers go. Though some of their beers go up beyond the $10 point for a point - which is a bit beyond my comfort level.

The baked brie is amazing!!! The mussels are fantastic as well as the filet cheesesteak appetizer. Great selection of beer. Definitely one of my favorite spots.

Overall, all the dishes were very filling, tasty and well-balanced. So if you’re ever on The Drive and need a place to eat…pop by for the fun and filling Caesars and the delectable brunch!

Sadly, I love Stella’s, and especially their brunch. My only complaint up until now is that it occasionally gets too busy and noisy, but the food is usually spot-on and they have one of the best import beer lists in the city – many of them fruity and yeasty and perfectly matched with breakfast fare. I’ve even had the bananas foster waffles a few times before and enjoyed them, so I hope this was simply a (very) off day for the restaurant and not a sign of things to come.

Horrible service at BierCraft Tap and Tapas Bar. Everybody deserves a second chance, right? Gave BierCraft Tap and Tapas Bar on Commercial Drive a shot at redemption after a mediocre meal and lousy service the first time around but was sorely disappointed. The Drive was busy that day and we just wanted to grab a quick bite and beverage for lunch. There were a few people in the restaurant, but it wasn't packed. After we were seated, the waitress came over and seemed none-to-happy to be there. She took our food orders, but was quite curt when responding to questions about the menu.

Once again, the food was mediocre but our drinks were okay. Ready to settle up and be on our way, my friend asked a question about her bill. The waitress actually sneered as she responded. Right then, her borderline hostility turn a so-so meal into a really unpleasant experience that soured the rest of our afternoon.

I have many friends who like this place, but I won't go back a third time. I won't recommend BierCraft Tap and Tapas Bar on Commercial Drive either. There's many other options up or down the street offering something better.
Elisa
The best mussels I ever had. The mussels are big, fat, and juicy. The sauce is excellent with the right amount of salt. The service is great but the beer is quite overpriced.

Great Stuff!. Been here to the commercial location several times now and never been disappointed!
The bruchetta and the thai muscles are amazing! and always friendly service! Great spot to relax with delicious food, consistent every time!

Great friendly service - good atmosphere. Mussels Normande was excellent and the frites good too.
Good vibe and can't wait to go back.

Goood. Great burgers, beer, wow even some kinds I didn't recognize, some women (all accompanied lame) and did I mention I don't even eat burgers and this was good?
busy so be careful if you are dating and have a wife and crap

Beer is our craft - good because food isn't.. So maybe I shouldn't have gone to a "beer" place to eat but the my friend likes to drink beer.
server was a guy, he seemed nice but took forever!
i got the burger and added cheese, bacon and mushrooms with fries so did my friend minus the bacon/mushroom on hers.
the fries were warm like they had been sitting there to long.
server asked how everything was going, i said my fries were not hot, he apologised and brought new ones out. my friend doesn't ever complain to the servers so she said hers were fine when he asked her.
then the burger - patty was dry and over cooked. my friend looked at her patty and goes "um, this patty is almost as black as me"- she's from Jamaica.
for a $15 burger, not happy.

the beer was good though.

Great selection of beers. Food is a bit of a rip

Been here several times now. Always good food. Try the seared tuna! Awesome!
Hungry Boy
Not Good!. Menu looked rather appealing with many veggie-friendly options which I loved, and a huge selection of beers, but the inattentive service, terrible quality of food, and over-pricing for an East Van. bar were enough for me to never try this place again.
Relish The Rubicon
Totally Disgusting!. We must have gone here on a bad night, because everything was utterly awful. We ordered the Poutine ($9.5), Arancini ($7.5), Calamari ($11) and Fish Tacos ($11). The Tacos arrived almost immediately which lead me to believe that the barely warm shards of 'fish' had been from a previous nights prep leftovers. The smell was so rank I politely sent it back and asked for the Portabello Burger ($12). The Calamari was undercooked, unseasoned and decorated with a few dried out pieces of green onion, and served with a bowl of orange mayo. The Poutine was swimming in a miso gravy, which really tasted like packaged brown sauce and a sweet liquor like baileys. Yes this sounds ridiculous but I have a pretty good palate and that was the distinct aroma and lingering flavour. It was so gross! The Arancini was just mushy white rice rolled into a ball and deep fried accompanied by two sauces that had no place being together on one plate. One was a bottled sweet chili sauce and the other was a balsamic reduction. It was just SO bad. The Portabello Burger arrived and actually looked great, but it was so tough and chewy and the side salad was way over dressed with bottled Italian salad dressing. I can't even believe this is the food we were served because many of these other reviewers seem to really enjoy the food. ??
BierCraft = Over priced, poorly executed bar food. Unless your just hungry for beer and fries, don't waste your money.

Great Service!. I ended up going here on a whim one afternoon and I was not dissapointed. This was some of the best service that I've had in awhile. I ended up getting the beer sampler and my server reccomened some great tastes. It was a cohesive and wonderful sampler. I had the tuna which was ok and then the chocolate torte that was much much better than just ok. I would come back here again and again. I hope that I get the same server. His service was perfect.
Denman On Dining
Nothing Stella'. T'was Friday Noontime and me and my work mates wanted a place to gnosh and celebrate the end o' the week. Biercraft was chosen and, yippee, I was in. Okay, I shall get down to it: two of buds enjoyed a great Burger Platter: "really good", half fries and salad, "we'd order it again"( you get the picture). The Burger presentation was good, the salad; great, the fries; yada--good basic and then some. Okay, now the lone dude at the table had to order the Pulled Pork (I ask no questions) and he was as happy as Larry: "This is great, good etc". Me: on the wretched17day Diet opts for the Cobb Salad: boring, montonous ,and no fries --what's with that? Okay the eggs looked organic-whatever. But, I have to say the service was deluxe: non obtrusive, perfect timing. Yet,my only beef: I wish servers would wait for everyone to finish before wisking used dishes away, an epedemic in Vancouver.
No Dessert Im Full
Wow, Begian beer is great!. Fets sufficed last time i was on the drive when biercraft was full, now with my sister and her bf sitting at the last table in biercraft, im starting to get excited as i sit in traffic en route. Its nice inside, has a bar like atmosphere with a lively crowd, a belgianish type atmosphere perhaps? Like i would know lol. But now its time to wet the whistle. I roll with the duvel, it was ultra smooth and had some body to it, hard to believe it was 8.1%. For the edibles, i have the beef carpaccio, it has nice bread with some olive oil and some vinaigrette, tasty with the beef, onions and some sauce. I also got a little fancy and had a side of belgian frites (french fries) haha, comes with a mayo(yay) but has lime in it (boo), all in all, very good night!

Why did they have to change their name?. Still just as good, thank goodness

Great Tapas!. Been here on repeated occasions, for no other particular reason than to have some GREAT spicy mussells, and the beer selection.

Response to Lambert review June 17th. Hi Ms Lambert

I read your review and since there is no other forum in which to respond, I post my comments here.

Ownership of Biercraft remains the same as it was when we went by our former name. An unfortunate lawsuit precipitated the change. I am disappointed that you had a poor experience at our restaurant and am sorry that we were unable to correct things in the moment. We always take feedback as an opportunity to improve and to this end have met with our kitchen staff to ensure that our standards are reviewed. I would like to think that we are always consistent but am aware that as with all restaurants there are occassions were we lapse and for this I offer a sincere apology. I would very much like to have the opportunity to talk with you directly and hope that you give me a call at 604 729-9787
Dean

Food is DISGUSTING. I'm a food snob so don't mind me for being both picky and direct. I went to biercraft last summer when it was still Stella's and enjoyed a lovely tofu appetizer and later some tomato boccaccini salad. They were both amazing. The tofu was cooked to perfect, soft on the inside, crispy on the out, and the sauce was sweet and delicious. The salad was also incredibly yummy. Then, last night, I took my boyfriend and his parent's there for dinner to celebrate their last night in town. Ewww, ewww gross. I'll start with the salad, which was the better of the two and that's not saying much. The new tomato boccacini salad used mozzarella that was cheap and tasteless. The tomatoes were old and falling apart. The dressing was bland. As for the tofu, my gawd that was literally the worst tofu i've ever tasted in my entire life, including my boyfriend's slightly over done tofu morsels that are pretty disgusting. This tofu was so burnt I could taste char in my mouth. I'm French Canadian so I love sauce, but the amount of sauce on this tofu was bewildering, it was almost difficult to locate the tofu in the sauce! Speaking of sauce, ewww! It tasted like steak sauce, gross cheap steak sauce, on burnt disgusting cheap tofu. The worst part was that when we got our bill it was over $90. That was for four people to have totally disgusting meals that i would scarcely pay 10$ for and two alcoholic beverages. I suspect that when the new owners took over they kept the menu, fired the old cook (who could actually make good food), swapped the ingredients for much cheaper ones and bumped up their prices thereby increasing their profit margin significantly - at the expense of your meal. I've been there to drink alcohol, and i'd go there for that sole purpose again, but never would i ever eat there. Truly a disgusting and overpriced food experience.

Consistency. I have been to both locations on several different occasions and every visit has been quite pleasant.

I don't really go to either location for any of the food, it's more for the atmosphere and the wide selection of beers. I also have to say that I do like the atmosphere a little bit more at the Commercial Drive location a bit more than the Cambie Street one.

I find the food to be your standard pub fare, bordering on the higher priced end. The beers I find are quite reasonable, my favourite being Kronenberg White (think Hoegarten-esque)!

Image is everything. I've been going to Stella's/BierCraft for several years - I enjoy the space, the staff, the food; but man do I have a bone to pick: the kitchen staff do not wear hair nets! I know this isn't exclusive to BierCraft (I thought wearing them was mandatory), but when the dude with the long dreds wandered out into the restaurant, I was totally grossed out, and put off my food. Oh, I'll continue to stop in at the bar for drinks, but I will NEVER eat there again.

Dear BierCraft, If you have a sandwich board out in the afternoon, I will assume you are open and want paying hungry customers who will give you good money for food and beverages.

Please take care to a) unlock your front door, or failing that, b) pick up the phone so we might ascertain your hours and/or have you unlock the door.

Otherwise, those of us who travelled from the other side of town may feel disillusioned with your perceived inconsideration (especially when servers make eye contact and then just walk away).

Not much love, M.A.

Fruity beer anyone? only 2.5%. We ordered two pounds of mussels. One of the best moules I've had for awhile. Order the Normande with the bacon. The dish is a bit salty for my taste but the plump and juicy moules were enough for me. We were there at 8pm. There were empty tables around us but the waitress was rushing to clear our dishes. I don't know why. We were willing to stay for desserts but I guess the dish washer had to run home early.

Good beer selection, bad service. I've been here a few times. I have to say that their service is very consistent - very consistently slow.

The last time I came here, I was with a party of 10 and we did not have any reservations. The place was half full and since we didn't have any resos we volunteered to sit on the empty patio eventhough it was cold and drizzling. The hostess told us to wait a bit so she could get the tables ready for us. We waited outside for 30 minutes and went back in to check if our table is ready. We asked another girl (we couldn't find hostess) and she in turn asked the manager if we could have the patio and he snottily said to us that they couldn't accommodate us and left without apologizing.

Beeer. Love the different kinds of beer from stella s the selection is awesome and would return again:)

This is Belgian Tap Bar that serves Belgian beer.. An example of restauranteurs creating great establishments with good products and value added promotions being killed by entitled incompetent staff.

Ok maybe I am being a little harsh. I walk in to Stella's one afternoon, after not visiting in 4 months, survey the taps and notice three draught beers I don't recognize. I ask the bartender "What can you tell me about this one?" She said "It's Belgian". Repeat same question and answer for curious taps 2 and 3.

I finally ask for a menu so I can read for myself. She then pulls out a promotional card with two out of the three taps in question on it and tells me more. Well done.

The best part was listening to the fellow next to me sit down and proffer that he bought a ticket to Thailand that day. She then spoke about her bike trip to California.

The beer was excellent and seemed to follow the Belgian procedures for pouring them.

NEAT Atmosphere - GOOD Tapas. Have been here a couple times and can always depend on good beer selection, neat tapas selection and a eclectic room with kinda-kool buzz to it.

Notable were the prawns, mussels (Normandie & Orleans), frites and seared tuna - average (at best) were the chicken wings.

Not for the budget-minded

Horrible customer service. A group of six of us visited Stella's for a few drinks this week. One of us was served a drink with extra protein: a dead fly. When we pointed this out, the drink was removed but it turned out they didn't have the ingredients to make another version of the drink. We asked that the drink be comped and were turned down by management. Another drink was ordered and 55 minutes after our arrival, it had still not been served. At this point, we complained more loudly and they comped the drink, saying "we didn't realize you were so upset".

Great beer selection and fast friendly service. Oh yeah, the food's good too! 3 tapas between 2 people and we were FULL. Great presentation and imaginative dishes.

Loved it.. We went here on a week night and tried a few dishes on their menu. We had the "Filet"-delphia Cheese Steak, ahi tuna, braised beef brisket taquitos, steak tacos, and half a pound of mussels. It was ALL good. I love how their dishes are so unique and full of flavour - I would go back to try the rest!
CoutureChef
Great Food and service. Stella's has one of the greatest beer menu's I have ever seen, the staff are friendly and have a great knowledge of all the beers that are on offer. The food is average but good enough to keep the hunger at bay whilst you are sampling their marvelous beers. Also if you have do not like or have never tried dark beers then try them as you will not regret it.
Alex
Good food, great beer. Not much to say beyond the title, service has always been good when I've gone, but then I'm usually there in the middle of the afternoon for a beer and a tapa so it's hard to judge. If you haven't had Golden Drak this is one of the few places you'll find it, and it is a real treat.
YLbryan
Great beer selection even for the fussy. Food is pretty good. Agree with most the brunch is the bomb. And the evening service can be a dud from time to time.
Ed Kohler
A Man's Tapas Bar. Great Belgian beers paired with mussels, ribs, and prawns? That's a man's version of a tapas bar right there.

My favorites: pork riblets, prawns, beef carpaccio, and seared tuna.

Stella's had excellent food and service during my visit. I'll definitely be back on a future trip to Vancouver.
Bandito
Kind of inconsistent. So Stella's can be hit or miss. I agree that the brunch is consistently better than dinner. The flat iron steak tacos is the best thing on the dinner menu.

That said, it's a fun place, I can get good beer and there's always a good vibe - so for that I forgive some mediocre dishes that end up on my table. And some of them are truly good. Make it a game to find the good ones, and you're golden.
Sky
Tap yes, tapas no. Go for the beer and drinks at any time, and go for the food at brunch. But their non-brunch food is usually disappointing, and overpriced by tapas standards.

SLOW SERVICE and not sure what they served!. Went the evening of June 30/08 - approx 6.45..it was busy, but not overly packed...ordered about 8 plates for 6 of us....first plates came reasonalby quick....then service went downhill from there. Halfway through, the dishes stopped coming, and when the server came by and asked if we were waiting foro ur bill, we said NO, were waiting for the rest of our plates (approx 20 min after the 4th plate was served). It was an hour and a half in and out, and only had ONE DRINK refill in that period of time.
While we did get one plate free for the service downfall, I would not want to experience such slow service again.

Options, Options, Options~ When you want to visit a bar that offers over 120 different Belgium and craft beers, local cask pourings, a regionally inspired menu of tapas and bistro food, "Biercraft" is my recommendation. As their name suggests they do beer and do things with beer. Beer is their craft. They offer 20 beers on tap and over 100 in bottle. If you can't decide on what you want you can "choose your own adventure". 4 beers in tasting size glasses, served in a handsome wood bar. This is the popular option and with it you get more bang for your buck. You try a little of each before you committing. A great way to get someone who is a little set in their ways to try something new. Most exciting is their offering of beer cocktails. Drinks made with beer as a pose to the traditional spirits we are familiar with. The one I tried was their "Frulini". It is their take on the "Bellini". But instead of sangria mix and wine, a fruity light beer goes in as your alcohol. In this case it was
Domo Is Craving...
Hey Everyone, While at a Remax Christmas event on Commercial Drive where our company Cherry On Top Designs had a gift basket up as a raffle draw prize, Jess and I walked around the area to look for a place to have lunch. We came across BierCraft, and since either of us have yet to try it, we decided to dine here! The inside of it definitely has that tavern feel to it. The bar is right inside when you step in and runs towards the back of the restaurant. There are tv's at the bar, and also several tv's in the dining areas as well. We were seated at a window seat in the front right corner. Their menu has quite the extensive beer selected, as expected from a place named as such. With plenty of beer available on tap, it was very hard to decide which one to try, so I ended up picking the flight of BierCraft Beer Sampler $10. As you can see from the photo, going from left to right, we have the D'Hiven, Maiselsweiss, Salty Scot, and Resolution. They all tasted like what they looked like, except for Resolution. Resolution had this peculiar flavour that I couldn't quite put my finger on, and was quite weird; so much so that I didn't end up finishing it! My favourites in order would have to be 2>1>3>4. For food, since this was basically brunch for us, I had the Waffles $11 , and Jess had the Fish & Chips $13 plus a coffee $2.75 . My waffles came with whipped cream of course, a side dish of strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries, and instead of maple syrup, it came with chocolate sauce! Now I love chocolate, so this was DELICIOUS! Jess will never understand it, but I love sweet things for breakfast/brunch, so when I order crepes, waffles, or pancakes, I almost always get the sweet type. The combination of chocolate sauce and the berries made it quite sweet, but not so much that it was unbearable. The mistake however, was pairing this dish with beer! I guess one could argue that beer and breakfast foods don't mix, but then again we're at BierCraft, so how could I not have

Good place for pub food...

BierCraft is not only great place to have a few pints in the open patio, but they also have a pretty delicious set of Tapas and food items. I’m sure if your goal was to try one of everything they have you would be pretty pissed drunk.

Eating With Kirby
We ordered a bottle of Gewurztraminer ($36/bottle) and shared a pound of Thai Mussels ($15.50) .

All four of us had a great time and a great meal and agreed that we would return back to Stella's on the drive again for beer and to stuff our faces with great food.

Having passed by Stella several time and talking about it, we finally went. It has always been in the corner of our sight when we go to Havana's. it seems like a good place from the outside and sounds like beer. IndecisiveGirl, Fragile Boy, M and I went f
There Is Always Room
Biercraft Tap and Tapas Bar used to be Stella's. I find it strange when a restaurant changes names. Especially one that has been around for such a long time- and to a much longer name. Why? Trying to find to the answer on their website is no help. They talk about opening the first "Biercraft" in 2005. Well, it was true but it was Stella's. They never mention the name "Stella's" in the website. Why work on a brand for so long just to ignore it with a name change? We have been going to Stella's for years (and to Santo's before that, to lay down some old school Commercial Drive, yo). Great beer selection, nice room and good food. Great luck if you are able to get a seat on the patio in the summer. Photo by Knightbefore_99 on Flickr. The lovely Yvette arranged a post Xmas get together at now Biercraft for about 8 of us. We have these get togethers at Biercraft every couple of months as we like the beer selection and the food. I like that they have Lambics because I am a girly beer drinker.

BierCraft Tap and Tapas Bar 1191 Commercial Drive, Vancouver. Ph (604) 254-2437 Continuing my search for pre-show dinner locations on Commercial Drive, near the Cultch and Havana theatres, I decided to try BierCraft, previously called Stella's. I had been there once before in its Stella days but that was quite a while ago. BierCraft does not take reservations as I found out when I called, but it was suggested that one call about 15 minutes before you plan to arrive to see whether there will be a table available. On this occasion We parked near the Cultch and I called as we walked down to Commercial. It was still early and I was told there were tables available and to come on down. A bowl of potato crisps was brought for us while we were mulling over the menus. They were delicious and we wolfed them down in seconds. My friend who is not a regular beer drinker nevertheless felt that at BierCraft beer was the thing to order. On the advice from our cheery server she requested the Kronenbou

On a Saturday night, we decided to check out the drive...it's close to my house, but for some reason, we rarely venture over there, preferring downtown or yaletown. As such, I had no idea of where to go eat, and decided to let twitterverse suggest something for me. Of all the places on the drive, BierCraft was the only one who actually replied to me and suggested that I come check them out. Well, great use of Twitter on their part! There was a Canucks game on that night, and we made sure we arrived nice and early so that we could snag a table. We showed up at 6 and were seated in the bar area, at a hightop table. The only downside was that ione stool backed onto the incoming/outgoing door of the kitchen. We sat down, but asked our server if we could move to a less dangerous table should one arrive. She was most gracious and accommodated us when another finally left. The first thing that arrived at the table, was a complimentary bowl of homemade potato chips. Lightly salted and super cr

Another weekend - another opportunity for brunch! We had found our way to Commercial Drive and were somewhat wandering around trying to think of what we'd like for breakfast. We are big fans of Bandidas , but thought it was time to branch out. We went fur

I went to Stella's Tap & Tapa Bar for the first time a couple weeks ago, and wow, this place caught me by a surprise.

A bunch of us from work gathered at Stella’s Tap and Tapas Bar on Commercial to celebrate the holiday season.

Stella’s has a real charm about it, as does many a place on The Drive, that you don’t often see elsewhere in the city. I think it has to do with the amount of genuine characters that you find. We started off at the bar and had a couple of pints of Leffe a

Who doesn't love a good, lazy, late morning brunch? I'm a loyal fan of the brunch, especially if there is also beer. Not that I am normally an advocate for AM drinking, but with Stella's Tap & Tapas ' huge assortment of fruity, delicious import beer, exce

We ordered both mussels ( free ) and beer ( $10 for 4x 4oz ) and also two sets of two prix fixe dinners (starter & main or main & dessert) for $23 Beach. For my first taster, I went with some familiar brews. The first one was for Val, just so she would have something to drink while I enjoyed my Grimbergen and Delirium. Information listed below, follow the beers left-right. Liefman’s Fruitesse (Fruit Beer) 4.2% abv This beer is matured in cherries for 18mos. and then blended with natural fruit juices of cherry, bilberry, elderberry, strawberry and raspberry. Grimbergen Dubbel (Belgian Dubbel) 6.5% abv Double has undergone two fermentations, which gives this ale a chocolatey, toffee taste with a warming brandy-like finish. Delirium Tremens (Golden Strong Ale) 8.5% abv This Belgian golden strong ale gets its complex flavour

We started off the meal with some Tapas - their Filo wrapped baked double cream Brie with organic honey and sambal drizzle - which was on the whole - as advertised. A chunk of melted brie, covered in phyllo, and drizzled with something sweet and savory. P

Having enjoyed the Cambie variation of Stella's, and fueled by a desire to avoid the claustrophobic congestion induced by Olympic fever, we decided to pay a visit to the original Tap & Tapas Bar on The Drive. They have a larger

Lately, I've been a bit more of a hermit. I fainted recently and that was an alarm signal for me. My energy levels are usually through the roof and I'm never one to say "no" to any invitations. However, this past Sunday I had to miss an invitation to a Tw
