Review Honey Salt - Vancouver

Jenny
I actually had a great brunch/lunch experience. Service was very quick, everyone was so attentive. I liked the range of options on the menu albeit a little overpriced at times. There’s also an outdoor covered seating area with some nice flowers. Decor is definitely the highlight. Overall, a nice place to spend the afternoon!

The restaurant is quite nice inside with a great atmosphere. Everyone really enjoyed their brunch meals as well. Losing a star because our server would just completely disappear. Took more than 30 minutes to come back with things... I'm assuming they're short staffed & trying to be understanding but it was a bit frustrating. Would still go back.

They had me at the seafood chowder soup. Wow the dill knocked the flavor out of the park. The decor is light and very pleasant . Also the risotto with mushrooms was very tasty with a nice texture. Second time now and looking forward to returning.

Finally had the chance to visit Honey Salt. Wasnt the best. Wasn't the worst. A good meal with the added benefit of live music. Burrata salad was a tad bland. Burger was delicious. Fish and chips - okay. A lot of food so you won't leave hungry. The biscuits and butter were legit. A good order if you're in a group. Pro-tip: try the loaded potato's.

The menu is fairly routine for a new Canadian eatery. The restaurant is located inside the Parq hotel and with a canucks game evening, the lobby was a zoo. That said the service was very courteous and all of the food tasted alright, if not amazing. Overall an enjoyable family experience (we well felt very comfortable with 3 little kids in the party). Oh yeah - dining guests pay overnight hotel parking rates even if you park for an hour, not fun and you’ve been warned.

The brunch there last week was amazing! I had avocado toast and market veggies with dips. The avocado toast was as tasty as it looked and the variety in the market veggie platter was really good - it had fresh, roasted and pickled veggies. It came with hummus and red pepper dip as well which were really tasty and paired really well with the veggie selection. I believe their sweet potato chips were made in house, it was to die for. I’m coming back for more soon.

Brunch spot at the Parq Hotel. We had the New Brunswick Lobster Galette and the Crab Eggs Benedict and while both were prepared well, I really liked the Lobster Galette. Service is nice (not surprising as it is in a hotel) and the ambiance is also very welcoming and spacious. We went there on Boxing Day and were glad that they were open then!

Had the first real weekend with sun and went to Parq because they have a big patio and they are easy to book on OpenTable app. The patios is spacious and it was covered by a tent so very cool and comfortable. The service was excellent, my girlfriend and I shared a buratta platter and the Korean chicken bites, the server brought share plates and a set of tongs so we could move things around easy. We had a couple glasses of the mission hill Pinos grisio which was delicious and cold. We took our time and then shared the backyard burger which was cooked perfectly and tasted great with truffle parmesan fries. We shared the burger and the kitchen split it in half for us and plated it. Good initiative by the server and kitchen. There is a casino in the hotel where the restaurant is so you can make a good evening out of coming here. Price is $$ to $$$. Service is 5/5. Food 5/5 for what we had.

I had brunch at HoneySalt Vancouver on Jan 14th and it was fantastic. The service, the food, the caesar cart was the best !! You choose from vodka, gin or tequila with Walter's mix and then add whatever you choose from the cart. I had the special which was fried chicken and waffles with 2 fried eggs, absolutely delicious ! I highly recommend Honey Salt for a lingering place to enjoy brunch with friends and/or family.

Fantastic new addition to the downtown culinary scene. The decor is warm and inviting while the menu offers a little something for everyone. We were there for lunch and I had the Quebecois Tourtiere, which was amazing! My colleague had the buttermilk fried chicken sandwich and she loved it. I will definitely return for dinner, Honey Salt could easily become a new favorite restaurant!

Wow that banana chocolate cake is to die for. Service was great and the food taste and presentation was excellent. Definitely coming back.

Dinner Menu could use some Improving. Maybe combine the sunset menu and dinner menu together.... Definitely not a lot of options on the dinner menu. Moscow Mule was really good. Décor and atmosphere was realty nice!!! Service is really good in the sense that they are friendly.. but omg is it ever slow! so often our party was waiting for everything. It was kind of frustrating.

Unique country cottage style decor. Ingredients are locally sourced and fresh. Menu is huge and creative. Presentation was impressive. Mid level price point with great service and conveniently located inside Parq Casino so you get entertainment and a decent dinner option at the restaurant. My dish was excellent and well worth it.

Came here with my girlfriends for brunch on a weekend. Very nice ambience and service (I was on crutches). Washroom is a little farther out in the lobby.<br/><br/>Spent $20 on the chicken & waffles - delicious and the waffle wasn't soggy. Their caesar cart was very interesting and fun.<br/><br/>Honey Salt leans towards the pricier side of brunch, but it's a lovely place to go with your girlfriends or your mom/grandma every once in a while. <br/><br/>Full photos on my blog.

Vancouver’s newest entertainment complex, Parq Vancouver, is home to eight on-site restaurants. One of which is Honey Salt, a contemporary farm-to-table bistro with an emphasis on locally and regionally sourced ingredients. Honey Salt brings a bit of Las Vegas to Parq Vancouver as Honey Salt’s first location is off the strip in Vegas. The restaurant is a venture between husband and wife duo restauranteur Elizabeth Blau and Chef Kim Canteenwalla.

As part of the new Parq hotel and casino, Honey Salt offers a variety of West Coast inspired dishes. I used to be hesitant to try hotel based restaurants as I perceived them as being overpriced and underwhelming, I was hoping this place would change my mind.

I don’t write a lot of bad reviews, but because this place is in a high end Casino and the prices are moderately high for some dishes. I feel that it is morally right for me to warn my readers about this place. The only good thing we had was the charcuterie board. Everything else that was ordered below was bad to awful.

I brunched at Honey Salt with the family on our last Vegas trip. It was decidedly lacklustre and disappointing.<br/><br/>But my cousin invited us to dine with him at the Vancouver location, and since I was visiting did not feel it was polite to decline.<br/><br/>Firstly, the service was cold and the servers even mixed up another table’s dishes with ours. Twice.<br/><br/>Secondly, the appetizers and entrees were decent tasting enough. Fresh. But not entirely inspiring. The desserts, however, were awful. Especially the honey salt pie. DO NOT ORDER IT. It was like eating burnt sugar and I mean that literally not figuratively. It was a burnt BLACK sort of taste, not caramel like at all.<br/><br/>I would think twice before spending your pretty penny here.<br/><br/>

This is a restaurant that's located on the first floor of the Parq hotel beside BC place. I visited there primarily for their Society Chocolate & Banana Cake, which is served in large slices and looks absolutely stunning. I also had the Grandma Rosie's Meatballs and a side of Mac N'Cheese. While I personally didn't really enjoy the meatballs, the mac n'cheese was good while the chocolate cake was spectacular. Service was very good: the staff were quite friendly, professional and attentive. All in all, while I was a tad disappointed with some of the savoury dishes, I would still recommend checking this place out for their desserts alone.<br/><br/>Grandma Rosie's Meatballs ($13):<br/>2/5<br/>This came in a plate of 5 small meatballs with tomato sauce, caramelized onions, and a good dollop of ricotta cheese. Unfortunately, I found this dish to be somewhat of a disappointment. The meatballs were quite bland and were somewhat dry, while the tomato sauce was thin and one-note in flavour. I did enjoy the cheese however, which provided a nice richness, and the caramelized onions, which were sweet and fragrant.<br/><br/>Mac N'Cheese ($7):<br/>3.5/5<br/>The noodles in the dish were perfectly cooked, being a bit chewy while still tender. The sauce was quite rich and creamy, and the bread crumbs lent a nice bit of texture. I did find the dish to be just a little too bland however.<br/><br/>Society Chocolate & Banana Cake ($12):<br/>4.5/5<br/>This consisted of alternating layers of chocolate and banana cake, sandwiching chocolate mousse and covered in chocolate glaze, and was served with a small scoop of banana ice cream. Surprisingly, my favourite component of the dish was probably the ice cream, which had a wonderful fragrance of banana and was topped with crunchy pieces of cereal and chocolate sauce. The cake itself was very moist, with wonderful flavours of chocolate and banana, and the mousse was luscious and light. Even though it is quite a generous serving, it was light and not overly sweet, and I ended up polishing about 2/3 of it without too much trouble.<br/><br/>Summary:<br/>Food: 3.5/5<br/>Price: 3.5/5<br/>Service: 4/5<br/>Overall: 3.5/5<br/>Recommendations: Society Chocolate & Banana Cake
Picky Diner
Overall, I had a lovely afternoon at Honey Salt and took a glimpse of what they offer at this more casual eatery at Parq Vancouver. The cocktail menu shows some originality with the “honey” and “salt” selections, as well as the dedication to “gin and tonics”. The Fish and Chips we snacked on is decent but probably isn’t one of their best dishes. And I was slightly disappointed by the Society Cake loved by the media. However, I would probably come back to try their dinner menu at some point.

On a whim we found ourselves at “Honey Salt”, the newest restaurant to call “Parq” its home. We would later make it our first stop at a series of hopping we did in order to try cocktails at a handful, of the restaurants within “Parq’s” six commercial floors.

Honey Salt is a farm-to-table restaurant inside the new JW Marriott Parq Hotel.<br/><br/>The fish and chips is pretty good, but do not expect a crispy coating. The eggs benedict is excellent - cooked to perfection.<br/><br/>The server is attentive without being intrusive.<br/><br/>The interior decor is rustic with bright natural lighting and open space. We personally love the little touch such as their custom napkins - it is special without being pretentious and over the top.

I didn't make any reservations here on a Friday night at 8pm. The hostess recommended the bar side, which was fine. We were seated promptly at a comunial table and we felt very cozy. The interior was nice and inviting.<br/><br/>This night, we were celebrating. It was a very important night that would be very memorable for my girlfriend. We started off with a few glasses of Sangria and Heinekens. We then decided to order the market salad platter. This platter was very beautiful in presentation. Some may argue the pricing because of value. We were still happy. It came with sauces to dip in and we enjoyed it alot. <br/><br/>We then ordered a side of Mac and cheese, along with a side of brussel sprouts. We were impressed with the amount. They were both delicious. Our general impression was that the sides would be smaller. But we were happy.<br/><br/>We absolutely loved the decor inside. The owners did a great job. Incase your looking for the bathroom, it's actually located outside of the restaurant. At the end of the night when we asked for the bill, our server brought a booklet as well. It had every comment every customer wrote inside. We thought this was pretty cool. So my girlfriend decided to write what was supposed to be our memorable night. She wrote "Today is the day I made a quarter million dollars."<br/><br/>The night was almost a home run, except for our server. Perhaps she was tired... We couldn't tell. She wasn't rude but it looked like she was emotionally upset or just drained of energy. Everytime she talked to us we felt like she was emotionless. To be honest she was quite the Debbie downer. We didn't let it irritate us but it eventually did when we finally got the biggest smile out of her, once she got tipped. <br/><br/>I would like to come back for brunch. I just hope I don't get the same server. My other friends had mentioned they had encounters of bad service. These must be the pre stages of hiring until you get the right bunch I guess. However, there was a Asian bar tender, a man, who we recognized that worked at the River Rock before. He is a keeper for honey salt. We have had pleasant experiences from this gentleman. He's always in good spirits.<br/><br/>4/5 for now.<br/>

I chose this classy lunch location for a date with @adorables as our first Dine Out! Located in Parq Vancouver, it has a comfy casual yet classy feel.<br/><br/>Highlights of the meal include the Poke Bowl, overflowing with deliciously fresh tuna in a zesty green chili ponzu sauce. Another highlight was the Brown Bag Apple Pie, this was a beautiful flakey pastry with chunks of apple hidden within its golden exterior.<br/><br/>Service was attentive and warm, I got the feeling they're still getting used to roles and how the place is run. Our entrees appeared before our appies were done and cleared, which is uncommon practice for a higher-end establishment like this. Our waitress promptly noticed and apologized for the rush of dishes and explained that it sometimes happens during lunch, but of course I didn't even notice until she brought it up. We both enjoyed our date at Honey Salt and would definitely return-- especially for that delicious apple pie!<br/><br/>Read more on the blog!

To celebrate my parents’ wedding anniversary, we went to Honey Salt at the Parq Vancouver for dinner. Since its opening, I’ve been seeing photos on Instagram and I’ve been curious about it. Finally our turn to check it out. Before the dinner, I’ve heard mixed reviews about Honey Salt, so frankly I went in with lower expectations. That being said, I left the restaurant satisfied and happy about our meal.

My friend suggested to eat at this restaurant since she had heard great reviews about it. The great reviews said about here lived up to its standard. The interior design is modern and aesthetically pleasing, as for the ambiance it's quite relaxing and tranquil. I ordered the poke bowl with albacore tuna on black rice, it was absolutely delicous, you can tell the fish was fresh. My friend ordered the beef panini, which I thought tasted better in my opinion, I for sure reccommend trying it!! As for the service, it topped the whole experince. Our waitress has probably been one of the best waitresses we have ever encountered. She was very pleasnant and gave us the chocolate mousse banana bread cake on the house, because we were having a tough decision between the apple cider donuts and the cake. Honey Salt was an excellent find and we will defintely be visiting again!!
