Review Breakfast Table - Vancouver

HJ Marshall
We had brunch at the end corner of the restaurant, so we got the whole view of the place. It’s a vibrant and crowded place filled with smell of food and loud chatter of people. Gotta raised the volume a bit just to be able to talk, but the sun was out, so I knew I was not in a club. Food was great, but I have to admit that I wasn’t paying much attention to it as my focus was with a buddy I haven’t hang in 8 years. Service was great, efficient and friendly, so will definitely go back again.

Had my birthday brunch here. It was highly recommended. Usually have to wait 60-90 minutes for a table but they have a very unique reservation/wait system. Just go online and register your name and number of people and you can see live updates when it’s your turn. No need to wait outside in long lineups. The food was very good, very fresh. chorizo sausage omelette was my favourite.

Brunch with a couple of friends. Really busy on a Sunday morning! Had to call in early to get in the waiting list :-p Small place, a bit noisy… but good atmosphere. The food was very good! The staff was very helpful… they helped switch out mushrooms for green peppers. And very attentive… in fact I had too much of the excellent coffee as they kept refilling my cup :-)

Relaxed atmosphere and really great food! We had the ‘smoked salmon lox and avocado toast’ and the ‘prosciutto and burrata toast’ and they were excellent. Staff super friendly too. It was crowded but more in a lively way. We waited about 50min for a table for 2 at midday Saturday (peak hours), but we used the waitlist app to reserve your place in the queue and walked around the area until our table was ready. It was really worth the wait, highly recommended.

The karaage was well flavoured, crispy and satisfying. I enjoyed the balance between the potatoes, meat and vegetables, since i feel like a lot of brunch restaurants don’t give you enough veggies. We came at 11am on a Saturday and had a 30 min wait. The outside patio was a very good vibe around this time with the spring sunshine and fresh air (also feels quieter). Very considerate to have the heaters to so it wasn’t chilly at all.

I got the bulgogi hash and a vanilla oat latte. The flavours were on point and absolutely delicious. And the coffee was perfect. The only thing that I have to say is that the bulgogi was a smidge oily. I only managed to get through 1/2 of it before I felt full. Otherwise loved every bite. Perfect balance of spicy, sweet and savoury.

The food is super filling and delicious. The servers are very attentive, friendly, and very accommodating! Unlike some of the reviews I’ve read, my waitress kept asking if my coffee needed a refill. Although it was a super busy day, we could always catch her when we needed something and it was brought to us fairly quickly. I came with my friends on my birthday and had a wonderful time here. Thank you!

Definitely became one of our favourite brunch places now! The coffee crusted pork belly Benedict surprised us with the most delicious coffee sauce ever! I had to ask for EXTRA sauces🤣! I'm never a fan of carrots but I can finish their veggies with NO DOUBTS! The chicken karaage hash bowl is yummy too! Love the pickles!

Worth the 50 min wait. Next time we will reserve online! Super tight seating but we didnt mind. We are used to that for local hot brunch spots. I've never had a coffee crusted pork benny before. Sounded very intriguing and it didnt disappoint! Nice infusion of flavours that balanced each other out - it worked! Cant wait to go back and try more of the menu.

This place is ok but I wouldn’t be running out to come again. Food was fine. The BLAT was tasty. Eggs Benedict was a bit underwhelming and kind of odd with seasonal vegetables on the side?
Service was textbook - but not in a good way. Fairly impersonal and felt rushed, despite it being quiet. Orders were requested before we even sat down. And the biggest downfall (as a Melbourne coffee fan)... they only had instant coffee! 😟

I was initially going for a Dine Out Vancouver 2019 brunch on Sunday, but my friend and I instead detoured to Breakfast Table. A smallish but apparently popular place, it still had a line-up at almost 2 PM, but it was quite short and the wait time was maybe around 15 minutes. You can leave your name and number with them and get notified by a text message when your table is ready -- Handy!

Video review on my youtube channel: vancity food crew breakfast table
.
I've been to Breakfast Table twice now so I've tried many items. The thing that's weird about this place is that some items are mediocre and some are straight up delicious. Let's start with the bad. The hash bowls can vary. I don't like the seasonal vegetables and how they are cooked, they are always undercooked and require a lot of chewing. The meat in the bowls from the pork belly to the fried chicken don't have enough flavour to stand out, so the hash bowls come off as very underwhelming. The eggs benedict we got was also very standard. The cold tomato and avocado on the hipster benedict clashes with the bacon and hollandaise.

Now for the good stuff. Their sausages are simply fantastic. Juicy and full of flavour, I would go back just for this alone. I ordered one the first time as a side and it was a lucky break. The french toast is also very good, its inexpensive at $10 compares to other places. If you avoid the hash bowls and benedict dishes, you will have a good brunch from Breakfast Table.

I went to this place for their weekday brunch. Although their menu isn't particularly large, they offer a variety of interesting items such as shortribs and chicken karage in addition to the usual sausage and bacon. I had their Coffee Crusted Pork Belly Benedict, which was quite tasty (although I do think that their sides can be improved). The staff were also very friendly and attentive. This is a solid place, and I'd highly recommend it to anyone looking for breakfast/brunch.

Coffee Crusted Pork Belly Benedict ($16):
3.5/5
This came with a side of seasonal vegetables and potato hash. The benedict itself was very good. I had requested the egg yolks to be a bit on the firmer side, and they fulfilled my request perfectly: the eggs were cooked so that the yolks on the outside were firm while the interior was still slightly runny. There were two fairly thick slices of pork belly, which, while a bit chewy, was well-seasoned and flavourful. Surprisingly however, my favourite part had to be the English muffin: it was buttery, crispy on the outside with a soft and chewy interior. The amount of bearnaise sauce that they served was pretty scant, but I honestly didn't mind since I found it to be a bit too acidic for my liking (I prefer hollandaise). Unfortunately, I did find the sides to be a bit disappointing. The vegetables (which consisted of kabocha, daikon radish, carrots and pappers) were pretty bland. The potato hash was pretty anemic (and not at all crispy) and also bland. I do hope that they might consider tweaking and improving the sides a bit more.

Put our names down around 12:30pm on Sunday for 5 people and waited 30 minutes but didn't have to wait outside - they text you when you're table is ready which was a nice feature.
The pork belly benedict was good, the chicken sandwich was a bit dry/hard and the pork belly hash was also just okay. Their coffee though was great!
Was good to try and go once, but not worth the hype and too expensive for what it was.

Cozy little brunch joint that I would never have noticed were I not looking for it specifically. I was looking for a place that serves brunch near work and this gem popped up.

We had ordered the salmon hash and the coffee crusted pork belly Benedict. Food was served fairly quickly, presentation was pretty good. I was quite impressed with the pork belly benny. Chewy and crispy with the faint coffee taste! The service there was excellent, the staff was friendly from the moment we went in all the way til we were leaving.

Came here for breakfast with my boyfriend and we were seated almost immediately. The servers were all super friendly and the food was good. They offer large portion sizes. Only downside was that it took almost 25 minutes from the time we ordered for our food to come out.

Awesome food and genuinely caring service. We had trout, the special, the hangry, and waffles. Everything was great. Love the real (not canned) fruits and veg. We came here cuz it was open earlier than other places in the area. I like how they are open at 8am even on weekends. Highly recommended and will definitely return. Thanks for the very kind service.

If you’ve been following my blog for a while, you’ll know that I love breakfast. So when I heard about a place called “Breakfast Table”, I pretty much knew that I had to come and try it out (although I was partly worried that I’d wind up in a furniture store… that’s my kind of luck).

First time tried weekend brunch. I ordered the coffee crusted pork belly hash was so good! !!Service was good, but parking is inconvenient.
Constant Cravings
The Breakfast Table is situated on Broadway and Granville, across from McDonald’s. They specialize in all day breakfast/brunch with an Asian twist. . The inside is painted a robin’s egg blue and there’s a moderate amount of seating. When I went in November, it wasn’t too busy yet around lunch time and there was just a short wait. They can call you or text you when your table is ready so we just went over to Chapters to browse around first.
Every Day Is A Food Day
The newest spot by the office opened and E and I could not be more happy as we are tired of eating at the same restaurants by now. Being a breakfast/brunch spot, that got us more excited! We decided to round up a bunch of the other guys at work to check Breakfast Table out. A got the classic called Hangry which featured three eggs, two maple sausages, four bacon, hash browns, and toast. After A ordered this, most of the guys wanted this as well. It was definitely one of the menu items with larger portions for a good price. For those who want value and enjoy a classic breakfast, this is a great option.

I was a little disappointed because I was looking forward to the talented chefs who had decided to go back to basics by cooking simple and delicious food. but besides the fact that I was not impressed by the Lobster Benedict which cost me $22+, it seemed that even a basic side like potato hash was subpar, which didn’t seem acceptable.
