Review Lemonade Gluten Free Bakery - Vancouver

Trying out this highly rated pastry cake shop. The lemon cheesecake was recommended by the server and it does taste very good. Well balance with the citrus lemon and cheesecake taste.

Good mix of products. More sweet desserts like cheesecake and mousses. My friend loves the lemon loaf Cupcake was just ok. Service was ok. Prices average to high for gluten free

I've been to Lemonade twice and purchased bread and pastries each time. Definitely a gem for those looking for gluten free treats with a great assortment. I definitely recommend their crostatas and will pre-order their chocolate croissants in the near future!

Really amazing fully gluten free bakery. If you have a gluten allergy and are in Vancouver this place is a must try. Highly recommend trying the croissants.

I have been enjoying lemonade gluten free baked goods since they opened and there is no other gluten free bakery that has perfected so many classics. The cinnamon roll is flaky and sticky and crispy. The almond roll is fantastic and don't miss any of the cupcakes. In particular the chocolate with peanut butter frosting. Outstanding!

Considering the limited amount of options for gluten free, I was super happy to find this amazing bakery! Although their bread doesn't look as good as wheat bread, their desserts looked incredible. I had the mango mousse (egg free & dairy free). It was a bit too sweet for my liking but the mango flavour was spot on. Bread wise I bought the homestyle loaf. Would have preferred if it was a bit saltier but texture wise wasn't too bad. I wish their prices were a bit more affortable (the breads are each $8.25) as general gluten free items always seem more expensive. Which I know a lot goes into gluten free baking however for those of us that have health issues it shouldn't cost more this much more than wheat products.

One of the best gluten free croissants I’ve ever had! It was very flaky and buttery at the same time. I would go out of my way to come back just to get one. Their sweet treats are also tasty and a hit amongst celiacs & gluten-eaters alike. The aesthetic of their desserts is also on point (see photos).

Expensive but 100% worth it as they have the best gluten-free treats in the city! Lovely little bakery and everything I've had from there was delicious. These photos are the lemon cheesecake and the tiramisu in a cup, both were incredible!

We recently found out that we were gluten intolerant. We are so happy to have found you. The croissant are gold, and the loafs are delicious. Thank you, this is a game changer for us. We can still enjoy a good toast once in a while.

Every chance I get when I m in the neighbourhood or on the way, I would grab: sourdough bread and try different pantry. Yesterday, I stopped by and bought shortbread cookies. Oh my! It melted in my mouth! It s so delicious! There are more pantry to taste! Be sure to drop by the shop and buy yourself a treat! Try their chocolate vanilla mousse!

I love their white chocolate lemon mousse cake, gluten-free and I eat it even though I don't really do gluten-free. I love everything this bakery makes. Love the people and the treats. That's a whole lot of loves, but I love!!
Dana Stoutenburg
Their treats and breads are to-die-for! I love the texture of the bread; soft and tasty. The baguette is perfect for garlic toast! Other faves include the profiteroles, chocolate croissant, Peanut butter cookie and biscotti bits! Everything is top notch in flavour and quality.
Andrea Schmelcher
Lemonade Bakery made us a wedding cake and cookie favours for the 12 gluten-free and nut-free friends at our wedding. Our friends enjoyed both the cake and cookies, and in particular commented on how much they loved the shortbread cookies. Thank you!

Really good quality pastries. Gluten free does not have to mean low quality. Perfect execution and awesome results.
Johannes Schick
Their croissant are the best. But getting glutenfree rolls is always making a perfect day.

I have never tasted anything so good since I have been diagnosed celiac. This made my whole trip too Vancouver! Next time I'm here this is a must stop. Roseanna from Edmonton

We drove from Leduc Alberta so our 13 year old celiac could have a croissant ... he ate it in the vehicle before we made it to our picnic. Said it was the BEST thing he has eaten in years!

I just visited for the first time. Bought two loaves of bread - can't wait to try them when I get home. I grabbed a chocolate croissant to eat as I drove home and WOW!! Best thing ever. I wish I had bought two (or three). Flaky, buttery, chocolate-y amazingness. Can't wait to come back!

I just returned from Vancouver yesterday. I was in Vancouver for 24 hours and i had to go to Lemonade GF Bakery. One year ago for my daughter's 25th birthday i ordered on line GF cupcakes to be delivered to her and they were the MOST AMAZING CUPCAKES EVER . So what i bought on Wednesday to eat at the airport and bring home was the most delicious gluten free pastries i ever tasted. Can you please open a bakery here in Edmonton? Your pastries from the cupcakes, tarts, mango coconut mousse cake , croissants, to the triple chocolate mousse i bought and ate they were all delicious. The only word i have is WOW!!! Please can i order and get a delivery in Edmonton? Please :(
Rhonda Scholz
So very happy to have discovered you!!!! Best GF treats in the lower mainland - hands down!
Samantha Franklin

I thought I died and went to Celiac Heaven. I asked "what time you open till" and planned to hit the place and stock up on the way back to Toronto. I heard "9". She must have thought I said "what time you open". I stood outside the closed doors at 8 like a lost puppy. Oh well...I wait with great anticipation for my next visit.

This is a bakery located on Cambie, several blocks away from the King Edward Station, that, as the name suggests, specializes in gluten-free fare. They have quite a large selection of cakes as well as pastries. I had their Campfire Cupcake, Lemon Meringue Tart, Chocolate Passionfruit Tart, Salted Caramel Tart, Mango Cheesecake, Chocolate Caramel Silk, as well as an Almond Croissant for my mom. A couple of the cakes weren't very good; others were great. The prices are a bit on the higher side, but not outrageous. All in all, I think that the bakery is worth visiting even if you don't have any special dietary needs.

Campfire Cupcake ($3.80):
2.5/5
This consisted of a chocolate cupcake that's topped with a torched marshmallow/meringue frosting. The cupcake itself did have a nice flavour of cocoa; I did find it to be a bit dry in texture. The frosting wasn't too sweet and had a nice fluffy texture, although I did find it to have an oddly "eggy" flavour.

Lemon Meringue Tart ($6):
4/5
The crust was quite tender and had a buttery flavour. I really enjoyed the lemon curd inside, which had a great tanginess as well as fragrance. The meringue fortunately doesn't seem to have the eggy flavour that was in the cupcake; it might be because it was covered by the lemon.

Chocolate Passionfruit Tart ($6):
2/5
This contained a hazelnut crust. Unfortunately, I really didn't care for the crust; it had a bitter flavour and just didn't have a good texture. I also found the filling to be way too tangy, without much chocolate flavour, although it did have a nice fragrance of fruit.

Salted Caramel Tart ($6):
4.5/5
This, fortunately contained the same crust as the lemon tart, and was filled with caramel, chopped pecan nuts, and a layer of chocolate. I loved the caramel and nut filling, which was gooey and had a nice hint of saltiness. The chopped pecans provided a nice crunch and fragrance. The chocolate ganache had a nice bittersweet flavour that paired well with the caramel.

Mango Cheesecake ($6.50):
4/5
The cheesecake was not particularly dense, but had a relatively lighter, fluffier texture. It as creamy, and had a great balance between sweetness and tanginess. I would have liked there to be a bit more mango flavour, however.

Chocolate Caramel Silk ($6.50):
4/5
This consisted of a chocolate mousse and caramel that's covered in chocolate ganache. The mousse was light and creamy, and had a really nice bittersweet flavour. The caramel provided a nice sweetness that went well with the chocolate.

Almond Croissant ($4.25):
N/A
This is apparently only available on Saturdays. My mom had this. I didn't tell her that it was gluten free, and she actually didn't notice anything amiss, so I guess it must be quite good.

Summary:
Food: 3.5/5
Price: 3.5/5
Service: N/A
Overall: 3.5/5
Recommendations: Lemon Meringue Tart, Salted Caramel Tart, Mango Cheesecake, Chocolate Caramel Silk, Almond Croissant

We need more gluten free places in vancouver! I was walking by cambie and saw some bright yellow chairs. When I discovered that it was a gluten free bakery I just had to check it out.

A very friendly staff here indeed. Tracey is the chef here. There are so many gluten free items to choose from. It's wonderful. My eye was on the camp fire cup cake. It looked so cool. So how did it taste? Wow it was so moist... And that camp fire style marshmellow on top just melted in my mouth... This was a nice cupcake.

I loved how it's packaged too. I love driving and I drive alot. They give you a plastic casing. It's perfect! I'll definitely come back to try other items but Holy crow that cupcake is delicious...
The mango cheesecake was yummy and I was also surprised with the good taste of their lemon cheesecake. Overall a good gluten free dessert location in Vancouver. Heads up that the cheesecake is not as rich as the "regular" . I hope they will have more cake / bread / cookie options. This is a take-out location!!!

The cake that I tried was very very dry. But it might have been because that I went near the end of the day. The worker there seemed nice but after a while she seemed to want to rush us out of the place. I don't know, maybe I'll give it a try in the morning one day.

NOT IMPRESSED AT ALL SMH!!!!!! we got a tiny ass 6" mango cheesecake for $32 and it seriously tasted soooo shittttty... idk if its because its gluten-free or something but srsly THERE WAS NO TASTE OF MANGO AT ALL... The lemon meringue tart is realllllly reaaaally good! Not so sweet, has a good balance of tartness and sweetness and so smooth inside. The ginger cookie was perfect for my dad. He said the ginger flavour really pops and it's very moist. Would return and try other tarts for sure hehe.

I love this bakery! Such amazing gluten free goodies! If I'm ever going anywhere downtown, I stop in and stock up. The lemon cake, ginger cookies and cheese rolls are my staples. Cakes even come in cups for single servings! Tea selection is really good too!

Wow!. I didn't know gluten free can be so delicious!

We discovered this place while in a restaurant across the street. We noticed heavy traffic going in and out of this place, so we just had to check it out. Everything we tried tasted great! You wouldn't even know it was gluten free in a blind-tasting test.

My favourite was the lemon meringue tart, it had just the right balance of sweet and tart, really nice and refreshing!

Baked goods were okay but more importantly if you didn’t tell me that they were gluten free I would have never known. It’s a great alternative to other bakeries.

White Sugar. I was expecting a lot from this bakery from their photos. When I asked what type of sugar they used (they use sugar in all products) they said white sugar. I would think a GF bakery would know that the majority of their customers are health conscious and would prefer more natural sugars. The only thing that I could possibly take away with me was their granola bars with dates. I won't be returning for no white sugar.

~wowzers ~. Alright hands down best Gluten Free bakery in this city, perhaps the country...world?
Prices are a wee bit high and may turn some folks away but where else are you going to find amazing GF baked goods that taste heavenly? I serve Lemonades goodies for all of our families special occasions, the lemon tart probably the best darn lemon tart out there GF or not. The triple chocolate mousse to die for. The bread it just doesn't or hasn't gotten better than this if you know of better I'm all ears but I highly doubt it. You wouldn't know you were eating GF and to me that is key. I respect the more crunchy granola GF bakery places out there but this bakery is where it's at. In all of my 18 years of gluten free and trying GF goodies out this place made tears well up in my eyes.

A little side note; At the CinCin I received some in house GF bread, It was so gross I suggested they outsource to Lemonade.

Expensive but well-done hippie food. I was born 5 years too late to be a hippie, but I've hung around plenty of them, including both of my ex-wives, who were literal hippies during the 1960s. And I've eaten lots of hippie food, including at Rainbow Family gatherings. It's generally healthy stuff, but it often has the texture of a brick and not much better taste, because hippies don't like to use white flour, sugar and salt. I wanted to see if Lemonade fell into that category, because of the gluten-free thing.

The Honey-Seed loaf of bread I bought was dense, but it still had air pockets from the yeast rising, so it didn't come across as leaden. No off taste from the variety of flour (corn and a bunch of milled seedy stuff) Lemonade used to make it. It toasted up well, even though it took a little extra time under the coils. Sometimes hippie bread is so moist that it never gets crispy. I also had a cherry-almond tart, which was about 75% crust, but it was GOOD crust. More the texture and flavour of a cookie, instead of like pie or tart crust. It had a bit of a crunch to it, which is what happens when there's a lot of sugar and butter in the mix. I'm glad Lemonade isn't afraid to use sweet stuff, because it's important for structural reasons in baked goods.

My only gripe is the prices. The bread loaf was $7.50, and it was not much larger than your typical loaf of banana bread. The tart was $5.50, again for something that didn't have a whole lot of fruit, and could easily be consumed by one person at one sitting. (I'm stretching it over two cups of cappucino at home.) This is a good place to go if you're a rich hippie.

Thank-you!. I was so pleasantly surprised today when I walked into Lemonade.. even more so when I tried out my honey bread and wicked baguette! Being gluten free for over 3 years I haven't had garlic bread in far too long. It was such a treat to have mom's recipe! The bread is soft and delicious and actually tastes like real bread - you know the fancy kind you get at a nice restaurant (the kind you normally just have to stare at). Anyway, I could go on and on about my appreciation for this place but really you just need to go there. You'll feel like you're in the wrong spot because not only does it smell amazing, the treats are beautiful and it looks like a real bakery full of fancy awesome treats. Go. Try it. Love it.

Thank-you Lemonade!!! xoxo

On a recent walk through the Cambie Village area I discovered a new(ish) local gem, the Lemonade Gluten Free Bakery. Open for about three months now, this boutique bakery entices you indoors with its urban chic charm and sweet heavenly aroma. Once inside, don’t eat everything at once. Delectables include sweet and savory breads and muffins, scones, cookies, bars and drool-worthy personal sized cakes (oh my!).
I’ve had gluten free pastries before but nothing that comes close to this.

On a rainy Vancouver Saturday, my husband I were in need of a coffee and a pick me up. And what better to give me a boost than a sugar boost? Being near Cambie, we decided to try out Lemonade Gluten Free Bakery . We don’t have celiac disease, nor do we live a gluten-free lifestyle, but I am always curious to try out good bakeries and from what I hear, Lemonade is definitely one of those. When we arrived at Lemonade, it was busy. Considering it’s pouring rain out, it’s always a good sign a bakery is busy (people are still willing to brave the weather for baked treats). The store front is small and more of a pick up goodies and leave kind of bakery, versus a sit down coffee shop. We were however lucky enough to score one of the few tables available. We decided on the following: Coconut Lemon Mousse : Lemon Mousse and a tangy Lemon Curd between toasted Coconut Chiffon cake $5.50 Salted Caramel Pecan Tart : Toasted Pecans with salted caramel topped with Dark Chococlate Ganache $5.50 Chocol

This commercial snippet makes me eyeroll, so when anyone in my household eats quinoa, we excitedly ask, “Is there quinoa in this?” Like a vegetarian that was just tricked into eating a ribeye.

Tracy, the head pastry chef, has trained around the world, and when she found herself with a gluten allergy, she decided to create Lemonade gluten free bakery. She has adapted all her tasty gluten full dessert and pastry recipes into delicious gluten free counterparts.

After lunch at Pronto, Ann wanted to grab dessert at a place we walked past. When we entered Lemonade Gluten Free Bakery our eyes lit up, and we just kept ordering. About $36 later we came back with quite a nice haul of desserts and treats.
