Review Delicious Pho - Vancouver

John Y
Let's get down to business, large size pho was only $1 more than the small size, why not. Large size was huge, larger than my hand size (see photo) Asked to have been sprouts cooked as raw bean sprouts don't cook fast enough in pho broth. Broth could have been more flavorful, no hint of cinnamon in the broth base. Pho did get served very hot which his how I like my pho, especially on a cold day. Noodles cooked ok, plenty of protein given. No Vietnamese drip coffee offered, only regular iced coffee No fish sauce condiment on tables which I thought was strange, asked for fish sauce, the server never came back, finally did return towards the end of my meal, not good service. Would I come back, no, many other pho places to try.

Restaurant has a stale/sour/pungent smell once you walk in. It hits you the moment you open the door, like it’s not been aired out for an long period of time and the smells have decided that they’re going to haunt the restaurant. Food: Meh. I ordered a large steak and brisket pho ($13++) and when it arrived, presentation was underwhelming. Meat pieces sliced very thin and lumped together. Probably sliced, frozen, thawed and then put into the bowl. Pho noodle quality was bad, I’ve had bad pho noodles but this lacked any “tangy” and “chewiness”. It tasted very cheap. Broth was lacking in flavour, light, and lacking that dense spice flavour. It tasted like extremely watered down broth that has been reboiled and water added every hour or so. Sprouts were so-so, the lemon probably was frozen/chilled before being served as it broke apart the moment i exerted any form of pressure to squeeze it. Service: Nothing to rave about. Came in, was seated, wasn’t offered any drinks. Food came and that’s all. Nobody else stopped by to ask if drinks were needed. Location: Prime location. Easily accessible. Price: Not going to lie. The price here are one of the more reasonably priced restaurants. It looks like they’ve also not increased the prices in a while other than the plastic charge. Pho prices range from CAD12-13.50, and Subs are about CAD7-8. Would I recommend? Probably(?) if you are planning to get a quick bite in and out, no fuss, no frills. You get what you pay for in terms of food and service quality.

The restaurant staff has done justice with the taste of Vietnamese Food. Quantity, quality and Value for money. The restaurant interior needs a bit of work. Quite a busy and popular restaurant.

Great portions of pho! I ordered large size which add only $1. Variety of choices, service is good.

I ordered #61 which is a Vermicelli Bowl with ALL the meats, AND a spring roll....$16 before tax. My favorites of the meats were the pork patty and pork skewer. If I need meat, I know where to eat.

Great food, surprisingly quiet for a place like that (went for lunch on a sunny afternoon). Ordered #16, #69, and # 14 - all were tasty and flavorful!

The Chicken Banh Mi I got was delicious. Fresh vegetables, great sauce on the chicken, and the sandwich had a good crisp. Excellent size and flavour for the price of $7

I brought a friend for a treat since Delicious Pho was close by. We felt lazy trying to go further block just for Pho. We showed our vaccine card and ids before ordering. We ordered #2 Steak and Brisket (large) and #22 Spicy Hue noodle (large). Portion was big. I didn’t like the oiliness of the soup. We had to skim some oil while eating our food. Our noodles had plentiful of meat inside. That was good; however, some meat slices were too fatty. Soup wasn’t too salty it was on the sweeter side. Utensils looked sanitary as it came wrapped in a package. Food was good, but not the best. My lips felt soft from the oily soup. No lip balm necessary. I think there are better Pho restaurants out there.

Best hot & sour seafood Pho I've ever had. Friendly and informative service. Clean, contemporary, pleasant interior. Very reasonable prices. No msg after-taste.

Grayson and I were craving Vietnamese food so we headed over to Delicious Pho. There aren’t a lot of Vietnamese restaurants in the area but we’ve tried Delicious Pho before in Coquitlam and knew that they had pretty good food so we decided to head onto this location for a bite. So originally we decided to go to Delicious Pho because we both wanted to have a big bowl of pho….but a funny thing happens when you start browsing menus because you end up getting something completely different!

We wanted a quick dinner before an event, so we chose Delicious Pho. Bf has been here before but forgot how it tasted. I had the Grilled Chicken Vermicelli Bowl. It was quite the large dish. Good overall, but still several places I like better for this dish. Bf ordered the Bun Bo Hue, which is his go-to Vietnamese dish. He thought it was just... meh - just soup with some spicy paste. Decent if you want pho in the downtown area, but if you can, venture out to East Van, as there are so many other hole-in-the-wall spots which are much better and more authentic.

Bad service, watered down broth, boiled beef.
That’s only being nice.
I can’t begin to say how bad the soup was. I’ve had pho, tons. This place definitely made a broth, then added a ton of water for quantity. Not good.
Unfortunately there is no Vietnamese cuisine anywhere else in the area.
With busy schedules and work, it's hard to plan an outing with my co-worker friend but we finally made it happen. We got in on a Wednesday at around 3:00 PM with just a few patrons at tables going. Upon sitting down we both promptly ordered Pho. The basil that came with the bean sprouts had something that resembled a nose booger. It was dead wilting lettuce crumpled up. Bad start already. Getting thirsty halfway through the meal, my friend had to hunt someone down for water because none was given to us.

My co-worker friend got me a glass too but I never touched the water as I just drank the soup. Just before we were about to leave, I turned around and said we should go try "Marutama Ramen" across the street when we get a chance again. That gave enough light to shine through for him to notice my water was oily, pretty gross. I inspected it closer to find out it wasn't oil, as oil is round when floating. These were squares and diamonds. The water was dusty! *barf*

I came here a couple of times now and I have to say this is not a good Vietnamese place to eat at all. First time, I ordered the sizzling shaken beef dish with rice and salad. The portion was quite big so I wasn't able to finish. The taste was average at best but the beef wasn't as tender and juicy as other Vietnamese restaurants. The second time I ordered the bun bo hue and it tasted bad. The soup base tasted weird and nothing like bun bo hue. They didn’t even bother cut the meat shorter so customers can eat easier like other restaurants. One of the waitresses during second visit was pretty bitchy, she acted like she was just too good to serve us. I would never go back there for below average food
Yes. We,re Eating Again.
It was a little too hot for soup in Vancouver but Delicious Pho has other things to offer. My partner and I tried the Deep Fried Wontons which made us both happy, as well as a couple of Salad Rolls (how can you go wrong with peanut sauce ?). Both of these dishes were fine but similar to so many other places. What impressed me most was the Vermicelli Bowl with Grilled Pork, Grilled Pork Pattie and Spring Roll. This is a generous dish, refreshing with sprouts, salad and vermicelli. The grilled pork is tasty and a generous enough portion. The spring roll was very good. They serve a fish sauce on the side which is actually fish sauce in a concoction with a bit of vinegar and sugar. Very nice with the vermicelli, as are the sauces at the table.. Don't be shy. We have enjoyed the Pho very much on past visits (when the weather required that we warm ourselves up). Friendly staff and a fair sized room (we discovered the place when there was a line up out the door at the Ramen place across the road!)

We walked by Delicious Pho several times in the past and finally had a chance to try it out during Canada Day. They are located on the east side of Robson street a couple of blocks away from the library. The restaurant is rather spacious and clean. We got there for a late lunch during Canada day so there was plenty of seating.

○decent service
○good food / similar to most viet restaurants/ nothing really stood
○average price for the area but expensive for the type of food
○family friendly
○if I had to choose 1 dish: lemongrass chicken with eggs on rice
○would i go back? Maybe

there's so many good pho places all over vancouver now a decent pho actually have such a high standard in my opinion, while this location is very practical, for quick eats, and the pho is definitely not bad, but again nothing that will make you wants to come back for eating a bowl of pho. price wise definitely won't break your bank, and overall it's a decent pho place in the area.
HmmmOk
A large sized bowl only gets you more soup and not noodles or meat, which they were skimpy in content to begin with, while the broth tasted very watered down.

Service was okay, as expected from a pho restaurant.

Don't bother dining here if you're looking for a hearty bowl of authentic pho.

Was looking for a quick bite before heading to a hockey game and stumbled across this place. Started off with their salad rolls which are $2.50 each..standard price. They came pretty quick which gave me the idea that they were pre made. First bite...was super chewy and dry..definitely pre made. I had a large pho (#16 beef special) for $9.50..kinda pricey from your average pho restaurant. Bowl was large..but the contents inside were not. Got a handful of noodles with 2 small slices of rare beef, 3 slices of brisket, some tendon and HALF a beef ball. What the heck!? Soup was nice and hot BUT bland. My partner had the rice plate (#61 lemongrass pork chop and chicken) for $9.75. Again, the plate was big, but contents not so much. The chicken and pork chop were thin slices and came with a bowl of white rice with some vegi's on the side. Lemongrass flavours were alright but definitely was not filling.
Most likely won't be back.

This place is a winner.. the name says it all "Delicious Pho". Clever marketing. The price is right, you get your value for under $10, the portions are HUGE. A small bowl is bigger than my face. The selection is vast and the service is fast (I wasn't trying to rhyme). If I could come here often, I would. The place is always very busy but the staff are so fast and efficient. Been here about 4x now and they are consistent in delivery of their service and product.

They have a vegetarian pho and durian smoothie, which is all I ask for. It wasn't a mind-blowing experience, but this place is still good for satiated my pho and durian cravings. Reasonably priced, good service, happy tummy. :)

I always get bun Boe hue and bf always gets pho dac biet. Pretty sure both were doust with msg. The rolls were my favorite tho. We tried both spring roll and the grilled ham salad rolls. The soup noodles were filled with a good portion of meat so good bang for your buck!

Went there for a quick lunch. Service was fast and portions were quite big. The noodles were reasonably good, and the durian smoothie had real durian, although it is a little too sweet.

Very large portions. I usually get large bowls at other restaurants, so the first time I came here I got the large, but could not finish it. Here the small is equivalent to other place's larges. The pho itself is only mediocre, nothing spectacular about it.

I dashed into this place for a quick lunch, luckily I arrived a couple of minutes before the crowds did. For a weekday, the place was packed by about noon (as expected?) Service was very fast and I ordered a 54 (vermicelli with pork, spring roll and chicken(?).) The meats tasted fine and was quite standard. I liked how they used taro in their spring rolls. What I didn't like was the balance of vermicelli to meat to veggies. There was a lot of vermicelli compared to the other two. Luckily they provided a lot of fish sauce to wash the vermicelli down! To end the meal I ordered a bean dessert drink (red bean, jelly and some other bean in coconut milk). I didn't find the drink overly sweet but what annoyed me the most was they served it with a little straw (diameter smaller than the beans and jelly) which lead to frequent clogging. Overall it was an average experience.

This place was good when it first opened, but lately I have noticed the pho portion shrunk significantly. I use to order a small and there was so much meat. Now I order a large and the meat is less then the previous small.
Not to mention, the broth and and soup is not as hot and good as b4. Not going back unless quality reverts back tobyhr qualify when it first opened.
Rather go to the other Pho on Robson (by the Beard Papa). At least the soup is hot and meat is decent.
Seb's Urban Adventures
Good place for pho, broth was excellent and they have a good variety. Took a traditional raw beef and it was good. Good spot if you're in the area and looking for fast meal.

Lives up to its name. The pho is definitely delicious. Good flavor and good portion. The lemon grass chicken was good but was disappointed with the rice. Found it too sticky, not your typical style rice (or broken/rice). Still tasty and always a bonus with 2 eggs (slightly over cooked). Overall experience: Thumb's up.

I came across Delicious Pho because the ramen joint across the street had a long line-up and I'm glad I did come here. I got #16 (which has everything) and I enjoyed it, the broth was very flavorful and generous portion of meats. Also tried the chicken rice, the grilled chicken was a bit dry but good sauce on it and the rice was very try and hard, so I would stick to pho.

Stopped in with family to try out some Pho in Vancouver. We had tried a few places that seemed to be lined up on a Friday afternoon for lunch. With a small, but bearable line-up we chose Delicious Pho (255 Robson Street, Vancouver). Delicious Pho, located mere steps away from BC Place, is a medium sized restaurant with a modern interior painted in a spring leafy green.
Eatinghereandthere
The food is pretty good and the service is fast. Nice for a quick bite.

This place used to be decent when it first opened but since then it has gone downhill - pronto. Service is below average and the food is forgettable. Most importantly - the place feels dirty. The table is dirty same with the floors. Don't go here.

Delicious Pho in Yaletown is one of those joints you probably won't be making plans to visit, but can consider dropping by if you're in the area during lib or dinner time.

I've had a few of the Pho dishes here, and while they aren't the best I've had, they're pretty decent. I really liked the spring rolls I've had here, along with the dipping sauce that comes along with it. It's sweet and sticky and thick and is quite addictive actually. The fillings in the spring roll are quite fresh and I haven't had a reason to find fault with it. The service pretty standard - no frills.
You would think pho downtown would be pricey, but Delicious Pho is pretty afforadable, given its nearby counterparts. The portions are large and the servers are pretty friendly.
Picky Diner
I was impressed by their spacious dining room and comfortable seats, as well as the good sized menu offering exotic ingredients like beef tripe and tendon, which is pretty unusual in downtown. Overall, the food here just barely passed the delicious test. I definitely had better pho at other joints before. While the menu choices are great, more like the Kingsway style instead of the Downtown style, the comfort and the ambiance of the restaurant does make the meal a bit more enjoyable too.

It's delicious the broth was super tasty and the service was nice :)

Services have gone down hill!. I along with friends have been a huge supporters of Delicious Pho since it opened last year. We visited over 20 times and have always love going there because of the great foods and services. However I have noticed for the past few months, services really took a BAD turn! New servers, and they have no clues on how to serve from taking order, asking guests if they need anything, to when guests finished and asked for the bills, etc. Never refill water or tea, even when you asked them, they took their time and shown disinterested. When you hired disinterested servers, you are putting your own business out real fast! This services might work in other areas within Vancouver, but not in downtown as there are competitions and guests demand better in quality of foods and equally important in services as well.

I hope the owners or the managers (if there is any) are are serious about their business will read this and I am not the only one who complained about this either. It is sad to see such a promising start, but not be able to maintain which is far too common to witnessed amongst most failure restaurant.

Until their services improve, we are not returning back.

Service levels have fallen terribly. The food quality and portions remain exceptional, but we have noticed a marked decrease in service. Originally, servers were friendly, attentive and fast. Over our past 3 visits, we have found the servers to be cold, disinterested, and it took a long time for us to receive our orders. Nobody checked with us during the meal as they had in past visits, no water refills, nothing. Very disappointing, as this is the best pho downtown. We hope this is just a temporary problem and service will return to previously high levels.
James
Pretty consistent, fast service and a fair price. Good lunch spot downtown.

Lives up to it's name!. Seriously when people say you need to be HUNGRY to order large believe them! My small chicken soup was awesome and more than enough! Great spot!

Never again. Worst Vietnamese restaurant I've ever been to. Pho was terrible as was the seafood stew. Spring roll was oily and mushy. STOMACH ACHE.

Skip it :(. Pho was completely tasteless. So disappointing. Decent spring roll and salad roll but bad soup with bad service so will not return.
Laughingman
Misnomer!. Delicious Pho has managed a remarkable feat, they've made fresh, rare beef taste canned and stale. Didn't think that was possible. The broth, however, is where this failure is complete. Tasteless, oily and just plain bad, I would not eat here again.

The assembly line service style wasn't out of the norm for asian restaurants, but here you feel like you're being rushed off the feeding trough.

I love!! Very clean and very kind.

Completely tasteless broth for pho. Chewy steak. First and last time dining here - sorry not-so-delicious pho.
Ry77
Mediocre. Food and service are mediocre. Had a grilled chicken/spring roll vermicelli bowl - chicken was bland and spring roll was mushy. MEH!! When paying the bill, you have to line-up at the counter behind all the other customers waiting for a table and ordering take-out - very inefficient and annoying. I asked why they don't have payment at the table, their response "we don't have enough machines". So be it...if your food was better, I could definitely overlook the payment process.

I ordered the Pho Bo Hue ($~9) for a small. It’s made with a thicker rice noodle, and is supposed to be a balance of sweet, sour, and spicy. Well, this wasn’t the most authentic bowl I received — it was very mild tasting, with no hint of spice. Well, the 10 slices of jalapenos that came with the two plates of bean sprouts fixed that up nicely LOL! There also wasn’t a lot of noodles, so I had to eat quite a few bean sprouts to fill up. The meatballs and Vietnamese hams were nothing special: typical quality you find in most places. There was no pork tendons or blood in sight. What I loved most about my bowl of noodles was how light it felt. Even though I knew it wasn’t the least bit healthy for me, it tasted so light and fresh that I felt I was eating something good for me! #dangerous

It is raining again and I feel like pho! There are a few pho places in DT and Delicious Pho is one of the newer ones that opened around hmm… I’m gonna say this summer? I’ve eaten lunch here, quite a few times when they still had the 15% off opening sale. You rarely get discount on food and when there is, you think… is there something wrong? Is it expired? That sale has long been gone but I still go back to this place, not just because they are close by where I work, but it is actually pretty delicious :) I’ve tried a bunch of items from their menu but I always default back to my number 2 large plz! As a added bonus I always love it when restaurants put their logo on their plates/cutleries. Filed under: Downtown , Lunch , Noodle , Pho , Vietnamese Tagged: delicious , downtown , noodle , pho

Overall, Delicious Pho is worth a visit, specially if you are craving pho. The first time I visited Delicious Pho, I was quite surprised by the cleanliness and the general service; however, I could not say the same about my other visits. The pho is tasty and the portions are generous.
J At Vanbrosia.com
... vermicelli decent, generous amts of meat which were all passable, albeit not best ever; spring roll nicely crisped but I still prefer the actual vietnamese style spring roll like this one @ Viet Sub...
J At Vanbrosia.com
... 'stew' was actually more of a soup, but that being said it was very flavorful w a generous amt of beef; beef were also on the brisket-y side, not too dry...

This place – Delicious Pho – is pretty tasty. Kinda pricey for pho, but understandable for the block it’s on. I’ve come here three times since its opening. It’s 15% off for their opening. The first two times were super good. I had their beef pho the first visit. It was a bit chewy but the broth was really flavorful. I had their lemon grass chicken with prawns rice platter the second time. I had their lemon grass chicken vermicelli bowl the third time. All were super good. Just on my last visit, the service was very slow. The first time we went, we went during dinner time, and the service was good. The second time was 11:45, which is right before the lunch rush. The third time, which was the slowest service, was around 12:15. I list these times for people who work in offices like me and try to schedule lunch within
