Review Bistro Verde - Vancouver

Nice hidden gem in downtown, always love the spaciousness and quiet of this place. You get a great view and comfort. The food is alright, most of their burgers, sandwiches are good. Seafood dishes can be bland.

Here we are having dinner at Bistro Verde. Wow, food is food with fresh ingredients, thumbs up to the chef. Front desk ladies did a two thumbs up welcome greeting and took us to our table. View is nice. Service by Amin is 5*, thanks Amin. He served and checked if we are well all throughout. What a wonderful experience! From appetizers to desserts, dont miss out this hidden gem located at the 3rd floor of Nordstrom. We made table reservations from Open Table. Happy new year 😉

We were in the mall and thought to try the place. The service was good. went during the happy hour. There are not many-limited options like other places so didn't have much of a choice. Ordered Parmesan Fries came with dips and Spinach Dip with Flatbread with a glass of Pinot and Rosè. The overall taste was not worth the money spent even during happy hour. Not recommended. Wont go again!

waitress overworked definitely therefore service very slow not satisfied not what expected it is Nordstrom it is high end it is downtown it is not cheap this not first time waiting long or had issues at this restaurant they just don't seem to up their game servers no time even clean up two host walking around ? lacking team work or sections need to be more efficient -food was mediocre lack salt -15min for my drink order -after food arrived never checked -couldnt get napkin or salt -hair in food, I didn't complain -interaction order and bill only -dinner for one more than 1hr ...etc 2 star because effort of servers trying and the fact I was able to book a table, had a great view and it was convenient whilst shopping to grab a drink as well

I ordered a cup of tomato soup and Caesar salad with salmon. I asked the waitress specifically that my fish please not be dry and overcooked. Later comers To the restaurant got there soup before I did. My soup came with my salad, rather than before. My friend ordered the same salad And her piece of fish was twice the size of mine. The salad was dry, had practically no dressing, And the salmon was dry and over cooked. And again, I paid the same price for half the piece that my friend got. Absolutely not worth the $30 I spent. Will not be going back

Beautiful place. Great food and service. The French dip was magic. Will be back soon.

Beautiful view, excellent service, delicious lunch and best of all if you’re here after lunch when it calms down the bar has plug points for working and strong wifi. It’s also a sunny day so that makes it even better but the restaurant is beautiful and the huge floor to ceiling windows make for a brighter experience even on a gray day/mood. The volume is perfect for working. You wouldn’t even know it’s in a department store, it’s fantastic!

I love the food here. The server is so friendly and fast ❤️

The food was pretty solid for our taste. We love how they state the calories on the menu, which is great for those who are conscious of that. Worth a visit!

Now this idea of having a restaurant in shopping place is strange to me. But it's a nice classy place. With a great view overlooking robson square . The food an all is fine but we had a great time , special thanks to the the lead server Brydon Lattery

While downtown to watch the Christmas Santa Clause Parade, we stopped inside Nordstrom’s and went for lunch in their bistro on the top floor. It’s modern space, bright and airy, with floor to ceiling windows. Theirs is a casual upscale menu and vibe, somewhere in between an Earl’s or Cactus Club restaurant.

Bistro Verde at Nordstorm is located on the 3rd floor at Nordstorm in downtown Vancouver.

Food is average. Services and ambience are average to good. Great location!

A good place to go and recharge energy for more shopping.

Food: 2.5/5
Services: 3/5
Features: location

Food was pretty good. Service was prompt and warm. I've been here a couple times and it never disappoints. The place is busy during lunch hours. My salmon club sandwich was excellent. The angel hair pasta was a little over cooked. Aside from that everything was great.
Picky Diner
It is not hard to imagine Bistro Verde at Nordstrom being such a popular lunch spot in Downtown. Besides their chic interiors, comfortable seats, and a glamorous but elegant vibe, customers are surrounded by bright daylight coming through those big glass windows, and beautiful views of Downtown Vancouver, including local landmarks like Vancouver Art Gallery and Fairmont Hotel Vancouver. What a fantastic way to experience the vibrant social life is in the city! I have seen other reviewers compare the bistro to places like Cactus Club or Earls, but personally I find their space at Bistro Verde much more open with greater energy flow, and a lot classier. Food wise, the quality seems above average, but the menu is lacking of originality and surprises – but I guess getting a Michelin star is really not their goal. Nevertheless, I would definitely come back here if I could reserve a table by the window on a sunny day.

The lunch here is decent, but nothing too extravagant. I think it has a lot of opportunity to elevate the dining experience to compete with nice, higher end restaurants around the area. The service was a little slow when I went for lunch, but it was because they were short staffed as they didn't expect they'd be this busy when they first opened.

Really surprisingly good. Had the shrimp salad and added avocado. Was super delicious and healthy. I like that they show the calories per dish. Good came out very quickly and is reasonably priced. Also really nice views up there!

Nordstrom is not only a place to shop to your heart’s content – but also a place you can sip a coffee, grab a cocktail and have a bite to eat. It’s like they intentionally don’t want you to leave…. When Bistro Verde opened up in Nordstrom (on the top floor), it was (and still is) very busy. I came here recently to have lunch – and we had come at a good time where we didn’t have to wait for a seat. The space is open and very airy, there is a lot of seating and had a darker tone to the design. The space looks out onto Robson street with the art gallery right across the street.

lunch was decent, the shrimp pasta had five large prawns and was tasty, and the squash soup was very unique as well. The place is crowded and rather nosiy, which befits the intended bistro ambience. Service was adequate.

I gave them a average grade because it wasn't a very good choice if you decided to go here for food. The view and location is great but the food was just so so. The steak is bit oily and the creme brĂťlĂŠe is too sweet..because this restaurant is at NS and only if u want to have a rest and get some quick food like sandwich or salad.
Domo Is Craving...
Hey everyone!

If you read my blogs, you may have noticed my blogpost on my first thoughts of bistro verde. I initially went there when they were newly opened with my friends for dinner and it was not a pleasant meal for me. The other day, Phil & I went there for lunch and we loved it and that is why I decided to write a review for my recent experience! Phil ordered the Herbed Mushroom Flatbread ($12.50) - provolone cheese, baby arugula, extra virgin olive oil. It was delicious and Phil loved it. Even though his has no meat, it was still very filling. I ordered their Wild Salmon & Maple Glazed Bacon ($15.95)- caramelized onion, avocado, tomato, garlic aiioli on whole wheat bread. OH MAN, this was delicious! The garlic aiioli was seeking through the bread and was dripping with sauce when I was eating it. Even though it may not be the cleanest meal to eat, it was very worth it. Everything paired very well together and it was just delicious! The salad was fresh and with the additional dripping sauce to add on top of the salad, it was awesome! I definitely loved their sandwich and i would definitely return for that.

I'm glad I decided to try again. I can't say whether they've improved on their pastas, but for lunch I will be back for their delicious flatbread & sandwiches.

Initial Rating: 3/5

Re-rated: 4/5

Thanks for reading everyone!
-Jess from Domoiscraving

Had a girl's night out at Bistro Verde since people keep talking about "the restaurant at Nordstrom's" like it was a big deal. The decor is nice, welcoming and there's a nice view of downtown. Overall, it wasn't a bad experience despite the hype. I don't think I would return because it wasn't amazing either. It's a bar - kind of like Earls or Cactus Club and wasn't very special. It was solid and worth a visit if you're downtown and looking for a place to eat when everywhere else is full.

Last Sunday, my friend and I went shopping in downtown Vancouver, while I have previously made reservation at this restaurant. I called the restaurant earlier that day, told them that the dinner will be a casual birthday celebration, and asked if they could use a chocolate pen to write happy birthday on the dessert plate, which is a very common practice for this kind of restaurant. I also reminded the restaurant not to mention this arrangement when we arrive at the restaurant because I want it to be a surprise for my friend.

However, when I arrived and checked in with the host, she said "this is for a birthday celebration right?", which was very embarrassing to me. We also arrived early and would have to wait for the table. I asked the host if we could be seated at the bar and order some drinks. She simply replied "yes, sure" but there was no more seats at the bar. Then, we had to help ourselves and wait at another area near the entrance before the table is ready. Her ignorance and neglect give the impression that the restaurant doesn't welcome us at all. I almost wanted to leave for another place but didn't, with hopes that the experience would get better.

Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. Apparently, the host failed to notify the waitress about how this is a birthday celebration. Therefore, our desserts came without any birthday note. I rushed to the front and asked the host about it. He said the restaurant simply doesn't have a chocolate pen and therefore couldn't write happy birthday on it. He didn't apologize at all and left the host area right after, while his attitude was also very cold and insincere.

When I returned to the table, I told the above situation to our waitress Stephanine. Although this wasn't her fault and she took good care of us at the table, she apologized several times and made us feel better. She offered to take the desserts off the bill but I didn't take the offer, because I never intent to complain and get complimentary food. Still, she took that off the bill, which I did appreciate and tipped accordingly.

The restaurant has such a convenient location and offers decent food. For my previous visits, I met the unfriendly and unhelpful younger female host already, but at that time, there was also another female host who isn't as young and was polite. I guess I was out of luck on this visit.

+
Nice setting and decor
Good portion size (sandwich and fries)
Tasty food ( salmon club sandwich)

-
It's perhaps a little steep on the pricing side of thing considering what other restaurants are in the close proximity.
Best stop after shopping in Nordstrom. Great service , lovely views of robson st and the art gallery and most importantly QUALITY food!. Our choices were: Mushroom flat bread, roasted chicken and steak!

The acclaimed “Nordstrom” has opened its doors a month ago and everyone was clamouring to see it. I heard they had a restaurant, and was more interested in that. The American department store has found its new home in the old space of “Sears”. And their restaurant was located within it, on the top right corner of the three floor building. With its height came a view overlooking Robson square. But to get to it you were forced to navigate through the store, being tempted as you wove through racks and shifted through their branded clothing and accessories. They also had a bar right at the centre of the building, incase you needed a drink on the way there, or needed a break from all that shopping.

October 14, 2015 · by ThatShanghaiGirl · Decided to check out the new restaurant located in the newly opened Nordstrom! I’ve had great experiences with restaurants in department stores (saks, etc) so I was definitely pumped to try this place out! Overall service was great
Eating With Kirby
Since Nordstrom's opening a few weeks ago, their in-house restaurant, Bistro Verde has been packed with one to two hour waits during lunch hours (unless you make a reservation). It may seem like a long time to wait, but if you have the entire Nordstrom to roam around, it's not actually that bad. :P

Great restaurant! I had the spicy prawn linguini pasta and it was delicious! The service was not great but I did go opening weekend which could have been why. I would go back again. Great place to stop and grab a bite while shopping

Nordstrom, as many Vancouverites know, is the city's newest place to be downtown as we have finally been blessed with our own American designer department store. Amongst the designer brands and crowds of anxious shoppers sits Bistro Verde, Nordstrom's very own restaurant which is located on the third floor of the store. Bistro Verde has an upscale (Nordstrom-ish) aura as its interior is sleek and surrounded by big windowed-walls which overlook downtown Howe Street. Knowing Nordstrom's reputation for quality, I was curious to see how their restaurant would turn out so I grabbed a few friends to try it out with me.
Domo Is Craving...
So Nordstrom finally opened up in Vancouver last week, and while Jess and I were there checking things out, we noticed this restaurant on the 3rd floor by the men's section. It looked pretty cool from the outside so we had to try it out and let you all know how it is!. They are located in the corner of the store, so they have a nice corner view over Robson and Howe.
Gorgelicious
Bistro Verde, located on the third floor at Nordstrom, is Vancouver's latest full-service restaurant with views overlooking downtown, specifically the Vancouver Art Gallery area. They also have an entrance on Howe Street allowing them to be open outside of Nordstrom opening/closing hours.

We were thoroughly impressed with the service and food - first impressions done right. Even though they were notably busy, our server was still as attentive as could be and very friendly. If you do not have a reservation, be prepared to wait long, however, you are able to leave your number with the host and they will text you when your table is ready.

We started off our meal by sharing two appetizers - their fried calamari and ahi tuna poke. Calamari was fried to perfection and drizzled with sweet chilli sauce. SO crispy but not soggy. The sauce was the right amount - calamari wasn't swimming in it. The bean sprouts and banana peppers gave it that extra kick which made it even better than it already was. The ahi tuna poke was seasoned so well that we didn't even use the soy sauce and wasabi mixture that they provided. Having said that, the tuna was not salty and the wonton chips were so crunchy but they did not fall apart.

It was a gloomy Friday night and we just wanted some good ol' comfort food. Thankfully they have a number of (fancy) grilled cheese sandwiches on the menu. We ordered their glazed ham & manchego cheese sandwich and short rib grilled chese sandwich. Let's talk about the glazed ham & manchego cheese sandwich and the mango chutney they put in it. They had me at mango chutney. Is it wrong that I just wanted to take apart the sandwich and just eat the mango chutney? It's that good. Not a fan of of the toasted rustic bread they use on their sandwiches though. It is VERY toasted and very crunchy. Not something that I personally like with my breads. With the short rib grilled cheese, the star of that show was the blackberry jam. Both sandwiches came with fries and roasted garlic lemon aioli for dipping.

For dessert we ended the night with white chocolate bread pudding. The bread pudding sits on top of a pool of white chocolate sauce - which I loved as I love anything white chocolate and I have a sweet tooth. My dining companion, however, found the white chocolate way too sweet. The bread pudding itself had a very crispy outer layer and the inside wasn't too moist.

I will definitely be back to try the other items on their menu - hopefully my next experience will be as good as this one.
