Went here on a whim and had some of the best pasta I have had in my adult life. Perfect amount of sauce, fresh grated parmigiano, all spot on. The grilled kalamari special l, I would seriously consider selling a kidney to get some more.

My wife and I came from out of town and wanted good Italian food…. To our delight our experience at Arrival was fantastic, the food was amazing, Caesar salad was the best I’ve ever had along with the pasta dishes we had. The service was on point as was the wine…. Lol

Local spot that I never would have found but absolutely so glad my friends took me. It was packed and for good reason. Food, service and price for the value was amazing!! Definitely a spot to try.

I actually had a meal here on Italian Day on Commercial and I was pleasantly surprised by the simplicity of the dishes I tried. The caesar salad was fresh, crisp with the right amount of dressing. I really enjoyed the Arrabbiata pasta, it was fresh and delicious and spicy without leaving a long burn. The basket of bread and the OO and BV were a good touch. I found the space a bit tight, and the house white wine was awful, more like a sour water than an actual wine. Service was good.

Prices were reasonable for their pasta dishes as well as the house wine. I liked the ambiance with the warm lighting and table cloths. We sat at a table near the back and it was a tad chilly. Server was nice and attentive. Would come back and try more dishes since it was pretty tasty.

in short, overpriced ordinary food.   The mixed grill was tasteless and overcooked.  The roast lamb "special" was a small portion of pulled lamb that you would put in a sandwich for $28.   Pasta dishes were ok, but nothing to rave about.   No one in our party of 8 enjoyed their meal.  Our server was good though.   Don't understand how this place gets such a high rating.

A girlfriend of mine recommended this to me. Cute Italian restaurant on the Drive. I really liked the pasta! Liked it so much that I ended up having my birthday dinner here!

Very ordinary and average Italian food. Nothing we taste really standout. We went there with a group of friends and everyone left there not satisfied with the food

Beautiful. Osso Bucco to die for. What a classic presentation of this dish. I love the fact they use real saffron in the saffron rice. Some places will add tumeric to colour it. Pasta with mushroom and cream sauce, brilliant.<br/>What more could be said, it's a gem of a restaurant. I look forward to my return.

Old Fashioned Class. I have eaten at Arriva often as they never disappoint. Their tried & true traditional menu is always balanced and reasonably priced. A while back I tool a friend from Switzerland there for lunch. He is a foodie of the highest caliber and since I also dabble in the kitchen, eating out is often a disappointment. He was enchanted with the old world charm of the place and the ethnic authenticity of the flavours. When the desert menu came he told the waiter it was a shame they didn't have Zabaglione. The waiter volunteered to ask the Chef if he would be willing to create the dessert for us, if we were willing to wait. Well, 10 minutes later we were served two very good Zabagliones. They were served in the traditional Italian style with a thin wafer and cinnamon and no fruit. We were delighted. It is not often that a Chef is willing to add to his menu at the last minute and know how to do it in a short time.

Will always love!. I grew up on Arriva food. Back when Maria was still cooking, my dad and i would always eat off menue. We ate there 2 to 3 times a week and Paolo was always cheerful and nice. The food was good, basic italian fare that satisfied the hunger and comforted the soul! I loved the appetizer spiced prawns and the osso bucco. I miss that place. When I finally return home that will be one of the first places I,ll eat at! Arriverderci!

Good Authentic Italian. Happened here to celebrate a friend's birthday. There were 16 of us and everything was good. We had antipasto plate w/ salami, proscuitto, N provolone cheese, spicy prawns. For mains I had veal parmigiana and it was great. Everyone was satisfied

A Birthday dinner we wish we could forget. For my daugher's 17th birthday she wanted her favourite - pasta so we gave Arriva a try. We ordered the brushetta and a half hour later the waiter came to us to say that it had been brought to the wrong table. He did his best and offered us an apology and a complimentary salad. An hour and a half after being seated our dinner hadn't arrived. The waiter avoided us and after asking him to check he comes back with simply "It's going to be a while longer". I went to talk to the head waiter and was told that it was taking so long becuase I had ordered the risotto and it takes 40 minutes to cook - basically that it was my fault. Finally 10 mintues later dinner arrived. My risotto was undercooked, the rice still had a bone. I told the waiter and he had nothing to say but made a joke that I could order something else but the kitchen takes so long getting the food out. Needless to say, we could hardly enjoy our daughters birthday at that point. She asked to speak to the manager and he began by arguing with her that we weren't there at 7:00 becuase he was at home then. Then he goes on to say that wating an 1 1/2 for dinner isn't that bad. He offered no apology, no condolences. We said we were very unhappy with our experience and wouldn't return and he said why should he do anything for us then if we weren't going to return! This was THE WORST customer service I've ever received in my life!

A small glass of coke is $3.50?!? pastas on the othe hand are modest price and gd execution.

Good atmosphere, polite service, met some happy customers on the way in that love the place and eat here once a month. Ordered the stracciatella soup which was piping hot but only so so. Bread to start was fresh, baked to perfection, served with oil and vinegar. Server was attentive throughout. For an entree, I tried the fettucini alla carbonara. A dish I have often at my favorite italian restaurant. I would say that the food was presented well, but was small in portion. The sauce was okay, pasta perfect and the italian bacon was too salty for this dish. Overall I would reecommend this restaurant as a nice date place on the drive. Not much to offer a hungry traveler.
Lovely
This is the best italian restaurant in all of Vancouver! It's a true gem of the city. If you are looking for a place with great pasta, this is it!

Very disappointed with the service!! We came in with good expectations based on the ratings. Don't get me wrong, the food is good but we were treated like low class people from the minute we were seated. The owner was our waiter. He came to ask what we wanted to drink at first. We said we didn't know so he said he would come back in a few minutes. He came back 10 minutes later. I ordered my meal and asked what they had to drink besides the wine menu. He just replied well what you like? Coke? And then he made some lame joke. So the food came in a timely manner, he confused the dish between my husband and myself. Put our plates down and walked away. Never said enjoy your meal or anything. Never had a follow up with how he food was. The restaurant had 4 other tables at about 30% capacity. One large table of 7 had several bottles of wine shared for tasting. They were from out of town. He was all chummy with them asking how long they were staying and where they were going next. After we were done, a female waitress/busgirl came to take our plates away. She was alright much more helpful. The owner came to bring he coffee/dessert menu. Walked away. As we ordered dessert another couple came in and was seated next to us. He explained to special of the day in detail to them. What gives? Maybe he's racist and doesn't like Asian people? My husband is white... Anyway it's too bad. The food is really good but I don't like being treated so poorly. Nothing was said to us. The guy who seated us was nice. He talked to us about the weather... Well we are NEVER coming back. I scout locations for those daily coupon deals. Won't be recommending this place!! What a shame. They could have made some money.
Marchello Conto
A great place. I went to this restaurant on valentines day with my wife, the service was great and even though they were packed, they found a table for us. The food was very authentic italian and it tasted great. It is also a very romantic place for couples to dine at a good price. Overall a very good place.

Careful service, goodish food. This is a little treasure on Commercial, which has so many bad, over-hyped places. The menu is your basic Italian joint: there's nothing too imaginative or adventuresome here, but the service is excellent and attentive, and the food tending towards the yummy but not spectacular. Lots of ambiance, attention to detail, and a real will to please -- that's saying a lot for a place on The Drive.

Great Ambiance. Great ambiance with food and service to match. The pasta and meat dishes are fantastic.

An entertainment coupon for buy one lunch entere get the second free brought me the "Arriva". The day and time specifications brought me here at 1pm on a weekday.   This was an authentic Italian joint. It was blatant by the looks of the Italian owners, their staff with accents, and the richness in decor. Pickled vegetables in jars lined the wall on shelves. Thin bottles held asparagus. Round jugs carried peppers. Each a different colour, a different shape, for different produce. Wooden cabinets carried wine bottles both as storage and for looks. The room was separated by a arch. We were seated in the back, by the very traditional dark wooden bar. Our view was the backyard, an unseated patio over grown with dried plants and tall grass. It gave me the impression that it had never been seated, let alone open for the season. White table cloths and staff in black and white, gave their reasonable prices the illusion of fine dining. The menu hosted your standard Italian favours: pastas, pizza
Hippo's Foodprint
...has a dimly lit, laid back atmosphere, so not a bad place to bring dates. Near the front of the restaurant, there is a separated area of the restaurant that can be used for party of 30.
Passepartout-Too-Too
I did try the tortellini alla panna and can confirm that it was excellently made, robust and excellently seasoned with a rich cream sauce. I had the sole florentine, one of the day's specials: a filet of sole cooked in white wine until just the slightest crispiness began to form along the edge, then topped with spinach wilted with sautéed garlic in a white wine reduction. It was nicely presented with roasted potato quarters and crunchy-crisp sautéed vegetables.
