Review Olympia Restaurant - Vancouver

Calamari is superb (as you can see). It’s so tender. Pizza is amazing and the crust is super crunchy. Layers of flavour is top-notch. But I find the roast lamb lacking. Greek salad is not dressed properly, lamb is a tad dry and they don’t have moussaka just like stepho’s considering it’s pricier. overall experience is great!

Good food, nice staff We asked the waiter about their popular food and he suggested pizza and one of the grilled chicken. The pizza was very delicious and different from any other pizza that you have everywhere else. You have more than 25 choices of pizza. The grilled chicken comes with rice, Greek salad, potato and pita bread. Everything was good but the chicken was on the dry side and it could be marinated better. If I visit again I will have the pizza again for sure. The waiter was very helpful and polite.

I cannot say enough good things about Olympia pizza. The staff is always really friendly. They make good pizza but I like the baked tortellini with meat sauce. I eat in if with someone else but if its just me I get it to go and scarf it down in the privacy of my own place. Dinner doesn't last long. Some garlic bread to get the rest of the meat sauce. Then it's time to undo the top button on your pants cause there feeling tight

My friend and I were walking around there one night and were trying to find a restaurant with a patio. Turns out many restaurants on Denman and Robson still weren't opening theirs and we got annoyed until we came across this restaurant. We asked for a patio and got one with the heater right above us, which kept us very warm! The food we ordered was quite good and nicely portioned for the price. I'll definitely come back here in the near future!

The West End's timeless classic. Arguably the city's best pizza. Good service. Modestly priced. Vancouver casual. One of the most consistent long running establishments in the neighbourhood. Their Moussaka is my personal favourite. Enjoy!

My friend and I just came across this place and decided to try it, totally happy that we did! The lamb was honestly one of the best things I've had in a while, and the price is totally reasonable for what you get. We got takeout and I was super impressed cause I usually don't have high expectations for takeout. Will be back again

I would highly recommend calamari, yummy :) it was the largest meal i have ever eaten....lovely service as well

The food was delicious. We ordered the pita and tzatziki to start followed by the pasta royale and a pepperoni and smoked ham with added pineapple pizza. Can hardly wait to go back and try more of the menu.

You'll never find better pizza than this. The baked spaghetti is just what you need after a late Saturday night. Kick ass staff, family vibes, lovely delivery drivers. Support your local places to eat that have been there forever. They deserve our business.

we've waited in the line for almost 30mins, and the server just picked random people from the line up to serve, it is horrible and I will never refer it to any of my friends. it's used to be one of my favourite greek restaurant.

Drop in if you enjoy good budget friendly, unpretentious food, family friendly environment & staff that makes everyone feel at home! An institution in the West End!

We had a late dinner. My partner order the roasted lamb. It was the best we ever had. I ate earlier so I had a Greek salad and garlic prawns. The prawns were awesome. I wanted more bread to soak up that beautifully heavenly butter. Definitely will be returning. Maybe make it a ritual.

Best Pizza we ever had in Vancouver. Really made the visit even better:)

The previous time I went to this place was about 5 years ago, and I wasn't impressed then, especially as compared to either Greek restaurant in the Davie Village. Unfortunately, tonight wasn't any better. We (2 of us) arrived about 8:30pm - AFTER the typical supper rush. Many of the tables had people & many of those had food, and there were a few empty tables - so there shouldn't have been too much strain on the kitchen. Our 1st waitress stopped only long enough to ASK if we wanted water (just deliver it by default!), and tell us since she was new, she'd get another waitress. The 2nd waitress was also new and wasn't yet familiar with the menu, but took our order - and disappeared. There was no bread sticks or other offering, or follow-up by anyone during the wait. An HOUR later (I shouldn't have waited so long) I finally told a 3rd waitress to tell the kitchen we'd waited long enough. 5 minutes later, the food arrived. A few minutes after that, our 2nd waitress appeared to ask how it tasted - completely clueless about the duration between her appearances. She had only 4 other tables to deal with during that time, and they just wanted to pay and leave. I think 1 finally just left. The ONLY saving grace was that once the food arrived, it was tasty & filling (which we NEEDED by that time), although maybe a little over-priced. I had the shrimp & scallop fettechini, my son had the chicken soulvaki plate. We paid and left. I don't plan to return. EVER !

Great pasta deal on Tuesday. Loved it ! And will return.

usually this restaurant is quite good. I think that their piiza is the best deal. however- I went there for lunch on Saturday and ordered the prawn souvlalki lunch special for 10 95. their portions have shrunk.....but the worst thing? the rice! what did they do.... ? wayyyyy too salty and the waitress was such a sad sack. no personality- no water was served. I ordered a red wine and my friend who cant drink ordered 2 non alco holic be eer. she did not like that..their washrooms are clean - though...except frrezing!.... STEPHOS ON DAVIE a much better deal and way better service.

Well cooked well presented Greek cuisine with an international flavour made to feel welcome and excellent service good sized portions and good fresh items used.

Do not go here or order from here. We ordered food here and they had no cheese on what we ordered and we call them to let them know and the guy says he is the owner, which he isn't and says we have to bring it in if it did not have cheese on it. The worst customer service I have ever had. So basically, if you order something and there is a mistake, you do not get it fixed even though you paid for it. Do not bother with this place. I had a friend who ordered recently who had rotten meatballs on her spaghetti. This used to be a good place, but no longer. Wow, never ordering again.

This Greek restaurant is located at Denman and Nelson in downtown. It is still in the popular area that attracts tourists or local people to come in and enjoy the Greek food.

We came here for lunch as we saw an a-board outside the restaurant that listed $12.45 for lunch specials. Their lunch menu had a wide variety of items and most of the dishes were at a great price. We ordered two dishes from the lunch menu - roast lamb and moussaka. What a great deal! The portion was quite big and the quality was good! Even the pita bread was very fresh baked from the oven. The roast lamb was very tender and tasty. Moussaka was quite big with a lot of beef in the middle. Very delicious!

The server there was very friendly and polite. We ordered two cups of hot water with lemon. When she delivered the hot water to our table, she mentioned that the water was boiling hot from the pot, so she asked us to be careful when we drank it. She was very caring about customers.

Interior design was a bit old inside the restaurant but the style and ambience along with the Greek music made it more authentic. We love this restaurant and would like to come back and try other dishes.

Still the best location for calamari, pizza and lasagna. Had the $10.45 calamari lunch special. Calamari was stacked high, done tender and to perfection. The entire meal was exceptional. Rice and Greek salad portion was generous and tasty. Also comes with roasted potato and pita bread. Have had their pizza and lasagna before and have no regrets meals are always done right. If you are in the west end you should give the Olympia Pizza a try.
Nuinui The Cat
Very decent size lunch menu. I ordered the calamari lunch set. The calamari was very crispy and melt in your mouth. Unlike what was claimed in the other review, Service was good.

Craving a decent Greek meal for a great value? This is the place. Generous appetizer platter and great evening specials. Quick service and tasty food. Thank you.

You have to pick up from this place. They deliver so it's pathetic and the food is never hot. Calling them and listening to there bs excuses just makes me want to punch somebody in the face.

I'll never forget when my husband and I went here about 6 months ago. It took over an hour to get our food on a relatively slow night, and to top things off the owner and his wife decided to take their break on the floor at the table in front of us. His wife ordered 30 minutes after us, and got her food 25 minutes before we did. I was outraged and STARVING. I'm not over exaggerating any of this. I almost emailed the owner because of how awful the service was. When my husband and I FINALLY got our food, my husband didn't even get potatoes with his beef souvlaki, but I got mine. Hmmm?? At that point we were both so frustrated that we just didn't say anything. Tip?? We certainly did not. We've severely hesitated going back ever since.

A Classic, Greek/Italian Family Restaurant!. Very happy that I listened to my wife and ignored the reviews. This is a classic, neighborhood Family Greek restaurant. The service was swift and friendly. We had menus within 2 minutes of sitting down, and my glass of Retsina was never empty for more than a minute or two. The food was prepared quickly and served hot and without any fanfare or pretense. My Souvlaki was properly seasoned and served with all the classic fixings. The Saganaki was good, the Pita was warm and fluffy, and the Ravioli and Spaghetti were served slightly al dente and with a classic meatsauce. NEWSFLASH: This is NOT a place for Foodies, Stuffed Shirts, or people who take themselves too seriously. This is a GREAT, family-friendly, down-home, 70s-style "Greek/Italian" restaurant. If we had a restaurant like this in our neighborhood back home, we would eat there every weekend. Eat, enjoy, and don't expect pretentious nonsense. We will come back here again!

Food is good, service...not so much.. Typical Greek food served up. No complaints with the food but the service could be better.

I placed my delivery order at 4:40. I called the restaurant at 5:50 to inquire about when my one pizza would arrive after I was advised it would only be 45 mins. At 6:05 the pizza finally arrived with excuses from the driver that the kitchen lost the order. I guess they lost it then chose to wait til it was cold, soggy and the cheese solidified before delivering it. Unacceptable! No apologies from anyone. Not even a courtesy call back from Olympia. Terrible customer service.

Pizza!. The pizza here is the best in the city in my opinion. It's on the mid to pricier end, but I consider it justified since they use more toppings than most pizzas I've tried and their crust is also my favourite. I've had a few other items, like BBQ chicken and ribs and some pastas which were good, but the pizza is my favourite.

The place does get busy in the evening so sometimes you're waiting for a while, but the food makes up for it.

Liked the food but not the service.. We were very impressed by the food there. It was really yummy and tasty, did not order pizza or pasta though. The decor is nice but we felt a bit cramped as the tables, chairs seem so close to each other but it does bring a more European touch. The service was effective but the servers' attitude were poor, not the friendliest restaurant.

Best pizza and calamari!
Anton Matyushin
At first i thought it was weird that a greek restaurant would have pasta and pizza, but the restaurant was awesome! Ambiance was very pleasant, owners and waiters were good, and the food was outstanding! The calamari was melt in your mouth and the spaghetti was very homemade, all the food overall was very good with a homemade feel to it, portions are very good for the price! I would highly recommend it

Shifty owner. My wife just picked up a pizza for us and the owner tried to charge her $30 for a $20 pizza. She questioned him and he just acknowledged the mistake with no reaction; the pizza is good, but beware.

Nice service and the food was great. Was exactly what we were looking for!

Been there a few times. the food is as good as any other Greek food joint around. Called for delivery other day for the first time.they were somewhat on time. Food was good though. Overall good place to eat

Best pizza!. Pizza crust is best i have had- have good veggie options, use the best cheese too!

The pizza is good. The management or their policies less so. I have been a loyal customer for the past six years. Their pizza is on the pricier side and i overlook this for the quality. Recently ordered pizza. It took over an hour to make it up the five blocks. Then the order was wrong. I called and they offered a replacement or half off next time. Really!? Wait another hour. I opted for no. The manager/ owner was rude and defensive; quoting policy was more important then accepting responsibility for this crap service. I will not go back. I encourage everyone to think twice about getting their pizza for delivery. Thanks.

Always delicious. Amazingly, 10 years ago, Olympia had better food- it probably would have ranked 95% then, so no wonder the voting scale is still on the high end. Olympia is a great family restaurant. They welcome most everyone, have a solid assortment of classic Greek food and are crafty with the seasonings! I love that they include all original sauces and garnishes in their dishes (some Greek restaurants have scratched the lemon sauce for dolmathes or hummus as an option for pita). Olympia has good, tasty, food with wonderful savory flavors that induce food coma. My favorites are keftedes, dolmathes, and of course, kalamaria. Soooo good! The staff is pretty friendly and they seem to genuinly like their jobs, they are quick- but the atmosphere is nice and laid back. The decor makes you feel homey and comfortable. It is a place to dine for the decades. Get comfortable, you may want to eat and relax for quite a while!

Things I would not recommend at Olympia: delivery. They are notoriously slow and for some reason take-out seems to be blundered a lot. Also: pizza and lasange. I find these sit too long in the oven and there is not much care going into these food items

Yuck. Ordered a large vegi with pepperoni . three people eating managed to eat half...terrible no taste. called back the next day but were told you had to complain that night even though now it sounds like we got your money tough luck.........order from somewhere else if hungry

Live 4 blocks from restaurant. Been waiting over an hour for delivery... still no food. just saying....

Pizza is the best in the city hands down. If you can pick it up it's dynamite. Delivery is kinda poor though. The drivers are old as dirt and fast like molasses.

Delivery. Sorry excuse for a delivery service. The cheese pizza was stone-cold and had to be reheated. I don't know why I bothered because it was soooo salty and inedible and most of it just wound up in the trash. Spaghetti with meatballs was flavourless and runny. To top it off the delivery guy was sullen and just handed me my order with nary a hello or thank you. Don't bother.
Genevieve
Dropped by with friends on a whim and ordered the calamari lunch special. We were all pleased with our food and the service, definitely enjoyed it more than other Greek places I've been. I recommend it :)
Benjamin K
Worst service I've ever experienced. I complained about the waiter's behavior but the manager didn't listen. I don't have any comments about their food because I left before I order. I won't go there never ever again.

Great deal at lunch. There should be more Greek restaurants in this world. Generally when I eat Greek, I feel like I'm getting something healthy, because there's Greek salad with it. And the flavours of Greek food jump right out at you, with the oregano and feta and onions.... You remember a Greek meal much more than a burger/fries, fast-food chicken or pizza.

Olympia Pizza and Pasta isn't fancy cuisine, but it's solid, respectable Greek food. I stopped in for one of their lunch specials after a walkabout in Stanley Park, and it was a great pile of food for less than $10. Only one skewer of lamb with the souvlaki special, but it was well-charred and only had two bits of fat that I couldn't eat. For lamb souva, that's not bad. The meal was a carb-fest, with two small roasted potatoes, rice pilaf and a round fluffy pillow of a pita. There was enough Greek salad to make little lamb sandwiches of using the pita with some left over to eat as a side dish.

Inside, Olympia is painted with stereotypical Greek scenes, heavy on blue and white colours with the obligatory Doric columns, but it's not tacky. The service was great -- I could hear the waitress chopping my vegetables fresh -- but I hit 'em just after opening, so it wasn't like the staff had much else to do. Still, you sometimes get a resentful vibe when you're the only customer in a place, but I didn't get that. I'd go back.

Big fan of the combo for 2. The combo for 2 hasnt disappointed. Its so good that even though the pizza looks amazing we just cant get away from the souvlaki combo!
Mark Conlin
Great traditional roast lamb lunch with all the carb trimmings - rice, potato & bread - plus a nice Greek salad for $10. Lots of food, well prepared. Get's busy!
Urban Jungle
Really good food! Friendly service. We had the beef and the chicken souvlaki and both were excellent.

Mosi and the crew make a great pizza. So much good food at a great price.

What happened???. I have been eating Olympia's pizza for over 20 years, and have always loved it. it has always been my fav pizza in Vancouver. Until recently that is. I just ordered a medium pizza, and I can't believe that they would actually serve what they just sent me. They used to have a great crust. Now? Like a piece of cardboard. It's absolutely horrible.

I just received something that doesn't even measure up to most frozen pizzas.

What happened to you guys? You used to make one of the best pizzas in vancouver, and now it's literally one of the worst I have ever had.

Do you not care about what you are serving? You don't have to be a genius to know that you are cutting back on ingredients and sacrificing quality because you want to make more $$ on the pizza (without raising the price)

SHAME ON YOU

I will NEVER order from you guys again.
Rodimus
The food is pretty good. And the customer service very exceptional. Had an order for delivery, they ran out of an ingredient and called back to advise me. They even threw in some pop. Prices reasonable.
Wander Wonder Wonton
The feta and olives plate was very slap -bang. In that it looked like they’d just chopped up some feta, tomatoes, cucumber and bread then put some olives on it. Only $7 so can’t complain too much I guess.

There are some cuisines that, well, I sort of have put them on a side-line. Not that they are bad, just that I feel “attracted” to other options found nearby. One of such cuisines is Greek. While there are Greek restaurants around, the best known is Steph
