Review Blue Martini Jazz Cafe - Vancouver

I was introduced to this place through a meet up. Fantastic location just across from Kits beach. The restaurant was surprisingly big considering the exterior had a very narrow entrance (a bit deceiving). I liked the décor of the restaurant (it’s definitely blue as its name indicates). It was a cozy intimate setting. Ordered a simple appetizer but it looked like a piece of artwork. There wasn’t much on the plate but it was definitely uniquely presented. What I loved most about this place is the live music. I didn’t like the idea that we got charged a cover fee even though we had already been sitting in the restaurant for about an hour before the band started. Overall, it's a great place to hang out if you want to enjoy jazz music and the company of friends. I would go back again but please tell us we get charged when the band starts just so we know ahead of time and can budget accordingly. Quick correction about the cover charge: they don't charge cover for weekend live bands unless it is a special ticketed event (ie. NYE, Valentine's) or it is a special out of town guest performer.

Hello, We were at your restaurant a few weeks ago (July 18th, 8PM reservation) to have dinner to celebrate our anniversary. We were looking forward to an evening of food and music, but unfortunately the music slated to be there had cancelled. Not your fault. We were told that the pasta section of the menu was half price (Thursday), and it is clearly shown on your menu and your bar card. My partner saw the seafood linguine, so she ordered that, while I ordered the salmon linguine. We were then told that those 2 were not part of the half price pasta menu. So I changed my order to the Jambalaya, while she stuck with the seafood. We left with the opinion that while the food and drinks were delicious, the fact that it shows ALL pasta is half price only to be told what we wanted was not seems deceitful, and not good business practice. We dine out often, and are loyal to the places we like (Pidgin, Le Crocodile, Glowbal to name a few), as well as bring/recommend to our friends.

Tuesday is pasta night. It's dark and water glasses are all in blue. It's very good value for entertainment.e We all shared the mussels and clam in Congolese sauce. It came with a slice of bread which is good. We also shared baked potato with sour cream and bacon bits which is plentiful and filling. Of course I should have spaghetti with meatballs. The pasta was done right and sauce spicy and hot. My two friends had risotto which she finished up but my other friend didn't really care for his carbonara sauce? Still very enjoyable dinner and we'll come back. Service was attentive and swift.

My wife and myself purchased a groupon, meaning a prix fix menu was in place. We were both amazed at how well the food was prepared and how good everything tasted. The live blues band performed with gusto,

The food was amazing. The ambiance was fantastic. The live entertainment was so nice. We had a great seat. Highly recommend. If you can make it for happy hour, they have great appies. Portion sizes are perfect. Dessert menu choices are all delicious. You can't go wrong. Great location. You can start out on the patio and come inside for dinner.

Went here for date night to watch live music and that was great. Definitely more upscale than we expected and were surprised to see they offered dinner. We assumed it was just a jazz lounge. Food smelt great and got rave reviews from our table. Music was good and fun. Very loud though so if you're trying to have a conversation it's best to wait until after the performances. Would go back to listen to the jazz again.

I went with friends last Tuesday July 23, 2019 to Blue Martini. The only thing fat about Fat Tuesday at Blue Martini Jazz Club was the loudly aggressive, condescending attitude of the owner towering over us. Pastas were priced at $9.95 online, on the outside sandwich board, and on a poster in the bathroom, but he rudely told us the price had changed because they were losing money on it and if we didn’t like choosing from the now half price $24.99 pasta list we could leave. Shocking white male power and privilege. Also noted only two female musicians in this month’s lineup. The food and service was good. The bullying unacceptable.

Went for the $10 Tuesday pasta deal - it’s not a deal! The pasta (portion size and quality) is worth $7-8 at most. The place markets itself as a Jazz/blues bar but during my visit there was a guy with an acoustic guitar butchering Neil Young, Springsteen etc songs on stage, seemed more of a fit for a late night Irish pub on Granville st. It was like trying to eat your bad pasta while someone was pulling a cats tail over and over again. When pasta arrived I asked for salt and parmesan, which never arrived. Best part was that my wife asked for a Diet Coke, had a few refills and when the bill arrived each refills turned out to be $4 plus tax . Basil Pasta is a block away from this place and even though Basil Pasta is the Burger King of pastas I would prefer to take my $10 there next time

3.4/5 $8 cover fee if seating at the dining area. The espresso martini is good. Order blue Martin ( their signature cocktail), if, you like something sweet. I like the garlic flavour at the escargot pastry puff. The stuffed sole is way to salty for my taste :( Great place for Friday night.

⭐️Amazing Food ⭐️Delicious Drinks ⭐️Outstanding Service ⭐️Fantastic Music ⭐️Beautiful Design & Enjoyable Atmosphere 🎷🍸🕺🏻💃🏻🎶
At the Blue Martini the food is always amazing and Service Outstanding. Where else are we lucky enough to be spoiled with some of the best musicians in Canada being featured as live entertainment. The Blue Martini is definitely a place you will fall in love with if you have an appreciation for the arts and love to eat and drink.

There are so few live music restaurants like this in Vancouver.

Correction about the cover charge: they don't charge cover for weekend live bands unless it is a special ticketed event (ie. Who loves live music? Live music just adds an extra punch of characteristic in a restaurant. It gives the space its own personality and really sets the tone! We were invited to a media tasting at Blue Martini Jazz Cafe located in Kitsilano. Talking to Dan, the owner, you can just tell how passionate he is about music. They have a lot of local artists that plays at this venue if you want to listen to some awesome Jazz music. Each week, they have a schedule up on their website:

I took my boyfriend here last night to enjoy Dine Out Vancouver and some live jazz. The venue and entertainment were fantastic, great music, loved the jam sessions and seeing people join in and perform. The food was great as well. Dine Out was $40 per person and we got the meatball appy, minestrone, catfish, linguine with clams, and tiramisu for dessert. No complaints about the food. Portions were decent and full of flavour. We got our drinks at Happy Hour prices too, which was nice. The sangria was refreshing. There was a very minor server issue but not something that will deter us from coming back. We'll surely check out another performance and try other things on the menu.

Stopped in here for a rare night out, and left very glad that we had done so - friendly staff, excellent food, and decent drinks. We shall definitely be revisiting. One tip - if you're with a partner choose a table with corner seats, as at times it can be a little difficult to chat while appreciating the music.

Tying jazz and food together to bring a unique dining experience. I have been wanting to go for a while to this place located right by Kits beach. Blue Martini Jazz Cafe prides itself for being the best place to watch live Jazz and Blues, I can definitely attest to that! This must have been my first experiences by the water and listening to live jazz while eating at a sit down restaurant, the experience was unique and impressive!
Food Jedi
We made a last minute decision this week to attend a show for the 2016 Vancouver International Jazz festival on a rare for us free Friday night. A quick scan of the website brought us to The Bob Liley Quintet playing at The Blue Martini Jazz Cafe. Hoping for some luck, I gave them a call to see if I could sneak us in for a reservation. Luck was on our side and we took the 630pm seating and oh, what luck it was! We knew immediately we were in for a great experience as we descended the few stairs down from street level. We stepped into this fabulous space filled with tables for 2 and 4, a low rise stage against the far wall, a long, marble bar to the left overlooking the kitchen at one end and the bartenders at the other and exposed stone walls with soft blue light cascading down. A big check mark for the cool factor.
We had our pick of tables but the room quickly filled in anticipation for the dinner show. We were there for the music and although the words on the menu read well, we weren't expecting much - it's a Jazz CAFE, after all. Well, this is where the luck truly kicked in. The drink menu is an eclectic mixture of old standards and concoctions named for some jazz greats. After a celebratory pint of beer and glass of prosecco for making it to the weekend, we dove into the drink menu for further inspection. My partner highly recommends the Bitches Brew, the bourbon, cherry and maple syrup over ice.
We had a choice of the set menu that included the cover charge for the show but we went with the regular menu. Edamame beans tossed in a light coating of Cajun spice to start. Cajun prawn and scallop sizzle in front of me and jambalaya across the table. Well sized portions for both and an impressive amount of prawn and scallops and spicy sausage in the jambalaya. While we enjoyed dinner we discussed that often times we come across overly spiced food to the point where the flavour is overwhelmed by the heat of the dish. Not the case at all with our meals at The Blue Martini. So impressed with our main courses that we ordered creme brûlée and cheesecake - both very well done. Cheers to the chef for an absolutely incredible meal! Our server was attentive and professional and paid just the right amount of attention to us without hovering. We came for the performance but we will return for the food, the drinks and the service.

Blue Martini Jazz Cafe was amazing! Came here for dine out 2016, and upon entering the restaurant I thought the interior looked beautiful, classy and tastefully done. The host was welcoming and the waiters and waitresses were friendly and quite attentive. Adam Thomas was the guitarist and vocalist performing that evening and he had a beautiful voice and as the restaurant wasn't too full and due to its intimate setting, was able to interact with the audience/patrons of the restaurant. We ordered the lobster bisque and kale Caesar salad to start and both were delicious although the salad was quite large in proportion. Then had the jambalaya and veal marsala as mains, both were good portions although I would say that the jambalaya started to taste overly salty half way through the dish. And the evening finished off with their tiramisu and that was amazing as well! Will definitely go back to the restaurant for a date-night as it feels very romantic!
