Review The Greek By Anatoli - Vancouver

Danielle Ryan
Stopped here on a Friday evening for dinner. The patio is quite nice. Tried one of the seasonal rotating taps, yum! We had the dip trio, ocotopus, and another main - all delicious. Service was fantastic and the food was great. We will be back.

A sunny, unfortunately windy soon-after, typical Vancouver, day out on the patio had a great time catching up with a friend while enjoying awesome Greek food and awesome service. If you want to skip the menu and know what to order like a pro, saganaki, lamb chops, calamari. You are welcome.

Have only gotten to go from there but the souvlaki platter is a delicious dinner for two. We had it with chicken and prawns, they have that summer grilled flavor. Ordered with a small Greek salad. Food quality is amazing. Definitely my favorite Greek restaurant in Vancouver

Such a great spot for Greek food in Yaletown! Had a very nice dinner here with a friend. The drinks were delicious and we shared the souvlaki platter ($40) between the two of us. It was actually a lot of food! Choice of 4 skewers and it comes with rice, potatoes and veggies. I really enjoyed the beef and pork skewers.

We popped in for a pre-drinks bite. Only tried the chicken souvlaki platter but found it to be really great. The portion size was perfect and everything it came with tasted good. The cocktails aren’t anything special - we had the Helen’s sangria and Alexi’s marg.

I absolutely love the beyond souvlaka at The Greek! They also have many other vegetarian options. Their Helen Sangria is really tasty and they have $4 ouzo shots on friday’s and saturday’s

A friend highly suggested this restaurant while she was right about the food being delicious, the service was very disappointing. We had to wait a while to order our food, they were slow with service and our server did not seem friendly at all.

Fabulous dinner! The food has always made me come back very fast and flavourful. The server was a tad slow, we had to ask for service from other staff but it was a Thursday, she was polite and accommodating just appeared distracted or uninterested in being at work. We will be back ⭐️

We were excited to try out this restaurant as we love Greek food but we were disappointed with the portion sizes. In most of the Greek restaurants I’ve been to, the dishes were quite generously sized. Disappointed that there was no lamb seleciton on the menu, the dishes were bare minimum with not many side dishes and overall pretty pricey. Their beverage selection was also not very impressive. Didn’t feel like I got my value at this restaurant so I won’t be back.

One of the nicest Greek restaurants in town. The country lamb is fantastic and very tender.<br/><br/>They also offer daily specials which seem to be attractive!<br/><br/>Great ambience and attentive service.

Tried Greek cuisine for the first time and at this place. The staff were very welcoming and made us feel comfortable. Visited this place with the family. We were 5 of us. We ordered the Lentil salad which was really delicious, the flavors were amazing. We then tried the Saganaki (cheese), this was something we had never tried before, was good too, something different so do give it a try. We also had the Ianis prawns and lamb chops which were flavorful and very juicy. We had also ordered for the Country lamb platter, this was amazing and don’t miss out on this, the lamb was so tender and the meat just fell off the bone. By this time we were stuffed to the max. Had the sangria too, was amazing. Service was really quick even though the were packed that evening. Looks like the place is blessed with amazing chefs n staff. Would surely visit again. <br/>P.S: couldn’t take pics of all the food as we hogged it before we even realized

Friends and I have always wanted to try this place. Was a tad disappointed they didn't take reservations on a Friday night but suppose its normal considering its Yaletown and there is a lot of traffic. We did a walk-in anyways and was seated on the patio. <br/><br/>Server was friendly and welcoming. She made sure our questions about the menu were answered. They focus more on family style dining so that was great to know. Their cocktails were delish. Loved the Sangria. <br/><br/>Food for the most part was delicious. Flavourful and hot food came hot. Calamari was not too soft with a light crunch and pita bread was warm with a great chew. Shared the skewer combo plate with my husband and that was plenty. Loved how they incorporated corn and beets in their vegetable medley. Kreatopita was interesting. Like a meat pie in phyllo dough crust that looked like a bagel. Was tasty! <br/><br/>Was not impressed with the male staff that delivered our food though. He just came by and put food wherever on the table..not friendly at all..perhaps he was having a bad day..but hey, don't take it out on your customers. <br/><br/>Will I come back? Maybe. Enjoyed the patio scene..might be a great summer lunch spot.

One-liner: Tasty happy hour food at a price you don’t normally get to dine out at in Vancouver’s Yaletown neighbourhood<br/>Highlight: “True Greek Pork Souvlaki”<br/>Price per person: $12-20<br/>Would I go back? Yes.<br/><br/>Check out my blog post for the full review!

The Greek by Anatoli in Yaletown has just introduced Happy Hour and we were given a sneak peek into what customers would have on the menu. Some dishes in this review aren’t the right sizing for happy hour and may be a bit smaller. From Monday March 27 -31 2pm – 5pm, the Happy Hour food items will be only $2 and then they go back to regular price. A pretty good deal since you really can’t get anything for $2 these days.

Domo Is Craving...
Even though outside looks extremely crappy today, i have high hopes beautiful weather is heading our way! So, what’s the best way to celebrate? OF COURSE CHEAP & DELICIOUS FOOD! From March 27-31st, 2pm-5pm, The Greek By Anatoli is offering $2.00 SHARE ITEMS! This past weekend, I had a great time being @pickydiner ‘s plus one in this media tasting. We were shared with the items that will be offering during their happy hour. They are located on one of the popular streets of Yaletown and also super close to the skytrain, so you can drink plenty without worrying. We were welcomed by Alexi, owner of the restaurant and he was telling us the history of their family business. He was being very honest with us saying that he actually does not earn any profit out of this happy hour event. The reason why he’s hosting this is to bring people together and hope people have a great time paired with delicious food.

Having tried The Greek by Anatoli a couple of times during a events I have attended, this was my first time visiting the restaurant and dining inside. We got a sneak peek at their Happy Hour launching from the week of March 27 – 31. . Interior Kitchen and barCesar w/ peppered rim and seasoned prawn on the side Some of the happy hour items

Today I would be the plus one to Jacquline of “Pork Ninjas”, Instagram and blog fame. We were at “The Greek by Anatoli”, attending a media event, highlighting their new happy hour menu. This would be a new feature that the restaurant would host daily from 2-5pm. And today we would get a sneak peak of things to come.

If I wanted to be jammed in a place with club music so loud you can't talk and shoulder to shoulder people while eating some half decent greek food I would go to Aura and sneak in some Donair dude (Not a rip against Aura, they do a great job and after spending 2 hours at Anatoli's I think they're really missing out on a niche market.) The service was commendable for how busy it was, the food was mediocre at best and certainly not worth the price. That being said they do have a good retsina and Mosakka  was terrific. But It's hard to enjoy when you have some one who's 6 1$ off Margaritas too deep half hanging off your table. Maybe better other nights, but don't over pack your restaurant way past capacity.

As a Greek person, I'd say the food was relatively authentic compared to all the other "persianized" greek restaurants in Vancouver. Tapas style was great, but sadly the price tag was too high for what they were selling. Being in Yaletown it also carried that pretentious vibe that most restaurants there have. The food was good overall, but I wouldn't recommend it unless price is not an issue as it adds up pretty quickly and you walk away feeling like you spent a lot for little food.

Our entire meal here was amazing!! The food was beyond delicious, their prices are good, the service was great, and they have gluten free options, I have no complaints! We went on a Friday night and ordered the dolmathes for an appetizer. The sauce was so tasty! We then had the country lamb shared platter. The lamb didn't need to be cut, you could rip it with your fork and knife it was so tender! The rice and potatoes were unforgettable. Even the vegetables tasted amazing. This was definitely enough food for two people. <br/><br/>For the price and the delicious food, we will definitely be going back.

Just had a wonderful meal here. The food was amazing and the staff was very attentive and knowledgeable. My girlfriend and I split the Dolmathes and the Country Lamb platter both of which were delicious and very flavorful. The restaurant was pretty loud but i'd attribute that to the fact that it was jam packed. I would highly recommend the Lamb platter for a couple to share.

Large portions and very tasty food! Also going this menu had some selections I havent seen on other menu's. Including the seafood orzo dish which I had. It was perfectly seasoned and the seafood was cooked just right. Service was a bit messy, but very friendly.

One appetizer with interesting flavours was the Octopothi which included grilled octopus, capers, red peppers, and olive oil. The octopus had crispy exterior bits while the interior was tender.<br/>  For dessert, we tried the Ekmek which was made of pumpkin custard, shredded pastry, whipped cream, and almond dust. It was wonderfully rich and creamy, and subtly sweet.

餐牌也隨新店作出修改,以small share plates 及“mezze”形式加入不少新菜色<br/><br/>Souvlaki Chicken $16 (Served with rice, Greek salad, pita and tzatziki)<br/>份量比其他希臘餐廳的少而價錢稍高,烤雞串肉質較乾和乏味,其他配菜亦只屬一般 (2/5分)<br/><br/>Kreatopita 希臘肉批 $15 (Served with Greek salad and tzatziki)<br/>是一種起沿自希臘愛琴海西部Skopelos島嶼的烤肉卷,所以又稱為Skopelos baked meat pie,餡料主要是碎肉和芝士,肉卷上再洒上芝麻。由於是用油煎烤而成,外層filo非常酥脆,餡料也很充實好吃,只是十分油膩 (3.5/5分)

Disappointed by the lack of attention we received from the wait staff and the overly loud music. Our server was unfriendly and service was slow. Too many staff members standing around, failing to come clear our table or check up on us. Unfortunate because the food was absolutely incredible. Would recommend the location in North Vancouver, the service is top notch.

Taste of Yaletown is back again this year, and of course there are new restaurants on the block. Something about when Taste Of Yaletown returns, for me it's knowing summer is actually over for good. I like it, it's like my little closure (PSL from Starbucks does the trick too). This year I had to put. The Greek By Anatoli on my to dine list. Not that I've never been here previously, but because I am in love with it! The Greek by Anatoli’ focuses on small share plates or “mezze”. Which is perfect for me. I like ordering a bunch of things and trying everything. The atmosphere is amazing, always full of bubbly personalities.

Amazing Greek food and incredible service!! You have to come and try this place. Best Greek in the Lower Mainland by a long way. Try the Grilled Octopus

Taste of Yaletown is back again with new restaurants and new food to bring joy into our tummy. This year I had to put The Greek By Anatoli in my to dine list. The Greek by Anatoli’ focuses on small share plates or “mezze”. I don’t even think this strip has any greek food besides this place? Correct me if I am wrong. Love this restaurant, the patio is perfect for summer nights. The atmosphere is amazing always full of bubbly personalities. Dinner here and hop over to the pub for drinks.

We went for dinner between friends during the week and shared a few sharing plates. The portions are very small for the price and we left the restaurant hungry. The food is good however!

Food was amazing! went there for my birthday and the service and the food was great! Use to go to Stepho's but its just not so great anymore. This place also had a great atmosphere and a really nice date spot. Definitely will be coming back here.

Just wanted to say how incredible the food and service was! Had a group of 17 guests for my girlfriends birthday. The food came out quick and delicious, way more than we had expected. The experience was fantastic. Everyone left with full bellies and smiles on their faces....we will be back!

...we couldn't recall the last time we had gone out for Greek food. The avoidance wasn't conscious; it's just that we didn't know of a really remarkable spot. Now that's changed. Run by (charming) brothers Alexi and Iani Makris, The Greek is the first expansion of Lonsdale's Anatoli Souvlaki , operated by the Makris' parents since 1984. Refined, modernized yet authentic Greek cuisine is on the menu, with an emphasis on exquisitely plated Mezze bites to share.

Before visiting Yaletown’s The Greek by Anatoli , we couldn't recall the last time we had gone out for Greek food. Rabbit kalamakia comes in "popsicle" form, i.e., three thick coins of rabbit loin and lamb sausage looped in a strip of double-smoked bacon that's meaty without being heavy. The gemista—tomatoes stuffed with vegetables and rice—are a filling vegan meal, while the classic Greek salad comes with ribboned cucumbers and imported Grecian sheep milk feta (plus hot, soft pita). Our favourite was the octopothi: perfectly textured Pacific octopus with a nice char served over roasted potatoes in a lemon olive oil dressing, beautifully plated with capers and fresh dill (it may be one of the best octopus dishes we've had, and we're Croatian). Add thoughtful cocktails (the Papou—a white Negroni rimmed in Campari dust—is nicely balanced, and the Karpouzi, which tastes sort of like a grown-up sour-watermelon Jolly Rancher, should be sipped on the sunny patio). The Greek by Anatoli Yaletown recently just opened and took over the former space of Good Wolfe Kitchen & Bar. The newly renovated space is modern but draws on heritage characteristics of Anatoli Souvlaki (which has been opened for over 30 years in Lonsdale, North Vancouver). Flat white, exposed ceiling with wood beams and canopy of lights. The bright red accents plays on traditional Greek design but is modern. When the weather cooperates, there will be an open patio outside on the cobblestone sidewalk.

Bad service and bland food. We just came from here and walked away very disappointed. Service was awful and the chef needs to taste his/her food. After spending a month in Greece I was hoping for a great experience.......but not at this restaurant. <br/>We order the Greek salad which was amazing but then It went downhill from there. Our server never checked if we needed more water, the calamari showed up with no tzatziki and we had to chase a server down. We were the only table in the restaurant and served before a table of 20 showed up. By the time we got the tzatziki, the calamari was cold. My husband spilled his drink on the table and they didn't even offer to replace it. $75 for the meal and not worth it. Limited menu with bad service. Still hungry. We won't go back or recommend it.

My husband and I have eaten here 3 times since we moved here in April. By far, this is the best food we have enjoyed. Freshly and artfully prepared, it is becoming a favourite.

Great food, drinks and people. I have been a few times, and you can always expect a lively environment, great food and strong drinks. I cannot say enough good things about it. Definitely one of the best spots in the city!

Poor service. The service we received was extremely poor with the waitress drinking at another table and would come check on us when we would get their attention. Food was extremely bland and when we addressed it with the staff they stated that they do very well in N Van.

Food is ok Service and manager are horrible. Went in last night, the service was horrible, talk ed to the manager, he laughed and said it would get better. Had to fetch our own drinks from the bar after watching them sit there for 15 minutes. Called the manager over and asked if we could just get some one to serve us. Server said it was tapas style, so we ordered and everything come out at once. We finally had enough with the crap service, called the manager over again and just asked for the check so we could leave and go somewhere to enjoy the rest of our night, took 30 minutes to get the check, I had to go hunt it down. Should have just walked out. Last time we spend 120 bucks here WASTE OF TIME & MONEY

Not going to lie, I forgot to take photos of my food because I was so hungry! Lol. The Greek by Anatoli is really good - and that is saying a lot because I am Greek and grew up with Greek food my whole life. They say nothing is ever better than your grandmother's food, which still is true, but their comparison is VERY close. I had their calamari for lunch with a ceasar, rice and potatoes and it was super tasty. I think that their menu for dinner will be more complex, and I have heard great things!
