Review The Ramen Butcher - Vancouver

On man!! The Ramen in this place is the best I've ever had!!! I got the black garlic Ramen. It was so delicious!!! Will definitely go back. We went at 2 pm so it was easy to get a table.

First and foremost, please excuse the presentation as we had already begun eating before taking the photos. Ive gone here during my highschool years and have always came back to curb my ramen cravings. Years later and I have finally decided to try Butchers Ramen to see whats changed. And still it is as delicious as I have first tried it. We ordered the classic and the vegan spicy chestnut miso ramen with the chicken karage on the side. Creamy, rich and not heavy, the Ramen was seasoned well. Chicken Karage was good, nothing mind blowing. Service was quick and accurate, nothing to complain about. I recommend Butchers Ramen to anyone wanting Ramen. The price is fair, quality is there, it will satiate you.

Tried the classic and mini karaage mini don. The soup was hot enough, rich and creamy 👍🏻 they serve small ramen noodle but a little firmer than I expected. The karaage was crispy and well seasoned. The young lady server provided excellent service and smile. Pretty cool dinning environment. Recommend

Friday nights are usually busy with a wait to be seated. They don’t have a time limit so there may also be people nursing their drinks... Good menu selection which some options to explore different flavors. The red curry ramen is spicy with prawns, I really enjoy! Black garlic ramen is also great! Just the right amount of garlic. They have a sake flight which has a good selection.

First time here. Ramen soup and chicken karaage was incredible. Pork broth ramen (original tonkotsu) was creamy and flavourful. The vegan ramen with a chestnut miso broth was rich and delicious. We will definitely be coming back here. Also super friendly service and great atmosphere.

Really delicious soup. We chose the traditional ramen and a spicy seafood one. Both were just right. The noodles are al dente and the broth rich and flavourful. The presentation was lovely and the food came out fast. Service was courteous and friendly. Will definitely return.

Lots of variety Ramen. They have a Tsukemen which is a house-made thick Noodle in a special dipping soup. The Ramen served in hot or cold. They served different kinds of beer, Japanese fruit liqueur and Japanese sake. The servers are nice and helpful.

Lots of good reviews which prompted my visit to this establishment. The ramen here is delicious but the appetizers here are mediocre at best. The Classic Ramen was pretty good and the noodle texture was perfectly cooked! The broth was rich, creamy, strong and packed a good punch with lots of flavours with each sip, though I found it to be on the heavier/fatty side, but still very good broth. On a nice cold day, it was very hearty and comforting. The Cha Siu however was dry, thin and did not have any flavour in it whatsoever. Even soaked with the broth, it was just alright. I also ordered the Chicken Karaage which was super meh as the chicken wasn’t very tender or juicy. On top of that, the batter was not fried properly nor was it very crispy and was extremely salty. I am no chicken karaage expert by any means but I love fried chicken and that was probably the worst I have ever had. The Okonomi Gyoza was second-rate. There was nothing special about it as the gyozas were small and the filling was stingy. At $8.50 for five, it is incredibly expensive. I did order takeout but waited a bit for my order to be ready and pretty much ate it within five minutes of pick up while everything was fresh. Unfortunately I will not be back as the ramen scene in Vancouver is growing and there are other shops with broth just as good and better appetizers.

I love this place. Relaxed vibe, tentative staff, and of course the food is AMAZING. You really can't go wrong for the price point but this place is worth every penny.

Wanted to try it with my mum awhile ago and so we came about 5 minutes before they opened. Even after asking nicely several times they would not even let my 80 year old mum in to sit down in the waiting area away from the rain and cold and insisted she waited outside. Food was over salted too. Would never go back. Horrible horrible horrible!

Fantastic food! Fantastic service! 10 minute wait to get in, and worth it. Very charming and friendly staff. Excellent ramen and very tasty!

Rude and very unfriendly waitress, the worst service in Vancouver. Even the food is good but still have many good Ramen in Vancouver with good and friendly service.

Don't listen to the hipsters what place like this doesn't serve Japanese draft beer in Japan they would be out of business go to Japan before you hipsters rate a place.

Great noodles, soup base was really on point. Would recommend but go early to avoid line up.

The Black is to die for. Throw in the fatty pork and add an extra egg....absolutely deeeeelish!

Interesting experience for an American. Some staff didn't speak much English, if any, but our meals came quickly and correctly. Excellent food. Recommend.

Lively atmosphere beautifully designed with communal dining opportunities. The staff is friendly and hustles although seemed a little overmatched. The noodles were so good. The poem was even better. The soup solid and gyoza worth coming back for.

I knew I had to try out The Ramen Butcher after seeing all the posts on social media about it and I have to say, it certainly lived up to the hype! Rich tonkotsu broth and perfectly chewy noodles made for a fantastic bowl of ramen. I got the "Black" version (which had roasted garlic oil) and my friend had the "Green" (which has basil paste and Parmesan). I think the next time I'll just have the "Classic"; the roasted garlic oil, while good, was a little overpowering for me. On the other hand, the almost pesto-like combination of the "Green" helped cut the richness of the tonkotsu and made for an interesting fusion of flavours; however, I will still just go for the "Classic" next time because I like the more traditional flavours for my ramen. Also, I will definitely opt for the lean cut of chasu next time; the fatty version was a little too fatty. We also got a plate of Okonomi gyoza. I found them to be pretty good - juicy and with thin wrappers - but what stood out the most was making them Okonomi-style. Very creative and definitely something I'd love to incorporate into my own cooking. That being said, I'm not sure I would get them again; it was more of a novelty item for me. The restaurant itself was very trendy compared to its location (its situated at the outskirts of Chinatown which is still a bit run down despite attempts at revival). I especially loved the decor - they had "paper" cranes hanging from the ceiling! Very cool! The waitresses were very friendly, although their constant inquiries about plate removals made it seem like despite the abundance of empty seats, they were rushing us out. Overall, definitely a place worth visiting again!

Can't really beat it for the price and location. There are others that are a bit more decadent, but they are a bit pricey and out of the way. A bowl here after a long day working in the cold does the trick.
