Review Bellaggio Cafe - Vancouver

Gorgeous cafe with really artistic/cozy vibe! Our server was extremely friendly and warm. The food was delicious and this place is well located/ right by the art gallery. We ate breakfast items but they also serve lunch and dinner. The yolks of the eggs were super rich- deep yellow! Food seemed to be of very good quality. Would definitely go again!

Just came for a quick snack. Got the lavender London fog, bread sharing dish and truffle fries. All were amazing. The restaurant is cozy and servers are nice.

Nice and easy selection right next to Vancouver Art Gallery. They have good selection of Italian foods, breakfast menu items. Definitely seems a bit touristy so you might need to expect some travellers here, but the food was very good. It felt like a place where they give you exactly what you expected and the quality exceeds your exception by a little bit. Will visit here again for breakfast next time.

Very cozy and nice Restaurant. Loved the calm atmosphere, the waiter was very nice and the food amazing. We went for breakfast and had the avocado toast, eggs benedict and the french toast (must try!) They do offer cappuccino with oatmilk and it's delicious.

We waited for more than 30 minutes to receive our food. I wish I were informed the kitchen were running behind before I ordered my breakfast. The food was ok. Nothing special.

I really like this place but the menu can be much better. As I am graphic designer, I observe that dark brown color paper on the black text is really hard to read. You need to include dessert to your menu. Your customer needs to see that.

Elegance and comfort, this restaurant has it all! The avocado toast with farm-fresh eggs and arugula was delightful. The service was great too.

The food and service was great, the atmosphere felt very quaint but I couldn’t get over how dirty the place felt. The floor where we were sitting was not mopped and felt sticky the whole time from when we first sat down. Also, multiple pairs of utensils weren’t cleaned that well prior, leading us to ask the server for new cleaner ones.

We stopped in for a late lunch today - our 2nd time at this establishment conveniently situated across the street from the Vancouver Art Gallery. The Bellagio Cafe has an odd take on bruschetta: their version is basically pizza crust drizzled with balsamic vinegar and topped with cold chopped tomatoes, cold mozzarella cheese, and an unidentifiable seasoning. No lie. Along with this strange presentation, neither of our main courses ( the seafood linguini that skimped on the seafood and the salmon burger - both of which were average at best) justifies a rating higher than 3.0. With a half liter of wine, our meal came to $92 ... a bit steep for what we were served in exchange.

A good quiet place for Breakfast. Tried the bit chocolate - was too good. Eggs wee food as well.
They have an Italian menu for lunch and dinner - looks good. Free wifi was a bonus !!

Just had a great Lox and Bagel for breakfast. Nice sized portions. Fresh fresh fresh salmon. So delicious.
The waiter was a sweetie from England, didn’t see his name but he was a delight anyhow. He brought me lots of hot decaf coffee and would go there again.

An old time cafe with an old time menu. Lots of antique furniture and class. The service was quick and friendly.

The coffee is decent enough to hit the spot and wake you up like an untimely slap in the face with bitterness. Maybe the drip is better.

The Bellaggio breakfast was filling. Pre-buttered toast, poached eggs and some salty potato fry-up. Multiple meat options available and i chose the sausage. It wasn't too bad but the bacon option looked better.

Food cane out quick and everything was nice and clean. Love the size of the Tabasco bottle!

Some friends suggested the place to meet for a casual dinner before a concert so we decided to check it out.

Place was average. Some good happy hour items (half off appetizers) but prices are above average. Pizza was thin crust and tasted alright. Caesar salad was a bit bland and avocado was dry. Quinoa salad looked sloppy. Truffle fries..only tasted salty. Salmon flatbread tasted decent..but capers were way too salty.

Probably not a place we would hit up again when downtown. Their patio seems like a hot spot though.

this is normal cafe. I ordered the truffled fries and the margarita pizza. the pizza was very thin, and just average. the fries were good. the service was slow, especially when we were waiting for water. everything here is priced way higher than I would have expected.

A pretty average cafe. It's less of a cafe and more of just a restaurant with cafe like features. I shared the truffle frites and calamari frittis. Both were good, but nothing special. The calamari was very average and the truffled fries were decent but I didn't care for the texture of the fry. I may come back here because of their decent happy hour prices. The rest of their menu is teeming with other goodies, that I am interested in.

Went for breakfast and it was delish! Both of us had the Neptune Benedict and the eggs were cooked perfectly and the potatoes were stellar! Service was great too! They kept the coffee coming and despite us having a stroller, found a spot out of the way for us so our sleeping baby could keep sleeping and we could enjoy a meal!

Kelsey's 'FAS'T review of Bellagio Cafe:

Food (3/5) - the food here is tasty but average; my goat cheese salad with candied walnuts was a good mix of flavour and tasted fresh.

Ambience (3/5) - this quaint cafe is right alongside the bustling corner of Howe and Robson, which means you will get a lot of car and foot traffic if you are seated on the patio like we were. There is some noise cancellation from being right across the Vancouver Art Gallery.

Service (2.5/5) - our waitress forgot about us the moment we were seated, until we finally managed to wave down another waitress to take our order. With that said the staff did have a friendly attitude, so we still enjoyed ourselves. However, they forgot the chicken breast add-on to my salad.

Casual dining restaurant. Food is very average and ordinary which I can just make at home. I would only eat there if there are no other choices around

VERY disappointing. This is a restaurant that is usually not busy in an area of crazy busy restaurants. I understand why. Our order was not exact. The food was badly prepared. The waiter, when told said he would mention it to the chef. He arrived back to the table with the bill not adjusted and no mention of the problem or the chefs comments. I asked him "so what did the chef say?", he said "Oh the chef said they were in a rush and said my food should have been cooked 3 minutes longer but didn't bother because they too busy". Not a care in the world. Nice. DON'T GO TO BELLAGIO IF YOU WANT A GOOD MEAL. Yep. I am mad.

Overall I would give a score of 3.5 to Bellagio Cafe.

My friend had a birthday brunch and breakfast with a bunch of friends and me around 1pm. We made a reservation as we had more than 10 people. It was great that we didn't have to wait for seats and we got seats once we had arrived.

Ambiance/atmosphere:
This cafe is like a big coffee shop that offers breakfast, lunch and dinner. The environment is quite causal and comfortable.

Service:
Our server treated us well and took great care of all of our orders and needs. He was friendly and polite and gave us a good impression. He would not rush us to leave the restaurant although we stayed a bit longer. We asked to order a piece of tiramisu with a candle because it was my friend's birthday. The server said unfortunately the restaurant did not have a candle. We said it was okay by just having the tiramisu. I would think that most restaurants should have some spare candles just in case someone wanted to celebrate his or her birthday there.

Food:
The food was really "so so" or okay. I ordered a dish of lobster roll with salad and fries. Among these three types of food in my dish, the fries tasted the best! It was hot, crispy and filling with potatoes. However, the portion of the salad was super tiny and had not much dressing and the main character of the dish that was the lobster roll did not give me any surprise! I had a really good lobster sandwiches at Joes Coquitlam in the past. This one at Bellagio Cafe had nothing special. The bun was good but the lobster inside the bun was "meh"....

Pricing:
The pricing is just like the one in other restaurants in downtown Vancouver. They are not too cheap or too expensive. But if I would have a choice to have brunch in downtown, I would probably go to Forage with better food and better quality.

$ 3.00 for a coffee? That was just the beginning. This establishment is HORRIBLY run down and unmaintained. Slap a coat of paint on those dirty, unwashed walls for CRYING out loud. The bathroom stank to absolute high heaven.'Service' was ridiculously poor, a joke. Never again. Avoid.

Very nice downtown patio because at lunch it is sunny! Nice location it is an excellent place to have a good lunch with girlfriends or even alone before and after shopping! Pizza is good, breakfast is good and also the salads!
My favourite downtown patio for sure!

Great Food, nice ambience. I find the food there was excellent, I have tried many places in Vancouver, it is difficult to find good quality food these days that doesn't come out of the freezer like some so called high quality restaurants. Although I found a change in some of the dishes in the past couple of months, most of them are still good. I found the service wasn't bad at all, most of the servers have different ethnic backgrounds which is nice to see in the restaurant industry. Very attentive and friendly. The books are also interesting to look at. Im surprised more people don't go there, I guess it's a bit hidden!

Service and food getting worse. I have been going to Bellagio for a while, and their food and service are getting worse and worse. I have not visited them for a few months until a few days ago. Now they have really done it... Food trucks in Vancouver have better service and these guys. Instead of hiring people who are service oriented and experienced, it seems like the owner hires people based on looks. And yet, you will get worse service than Hooters.
I wish I were exaggerating, but I am not. I have never seen a restaurant take that long to bring extra plates, and take so long to do... anything when there are less than 10 tables occupied with at least 5 servers.

What this restaurant DOES have is location. Surrounded by hotels. This is a tourist trap. Avoid.

Edit: Pity, they weren't this bad two years ago.
Steve_pcs
Horrible. It took 20 minutes to get food and another hours to get the worst food in the city.
Jen
Disappointing service. Don't like it.
We ordered chicken wings for the appetizer, pasta and pizza. The food was okay. But when i asked for server the extra plates and more water, it took more than 10 mins. You know, when we dine in and wait, we feel the time more longer. Anyway, I felt like she never care about our table. It was around 5pm and they were getting busy tho, so i tried to understand them.
I was there in Happy hour which means the appetizer's supposed to be half price. But she gave me original price. I realized the fact after i paid and left the restaurant. But when i came back to the restaurant, first time, she gave me $3 back. WHAT??! Chicken wings was $11.95. She had to give me around $6.30.
To get $6 back, I was standing up in front of the till for quite long time, while she was collecting the coins in the kitchen. Why the heck. And The guy who seems like manager didn't care about us as well. I felt really bad.
I should've checked the receipt. I know.
The thing is they didn't even say the short word 'Sorry'.
Such a irresponsible place. Really disappointing. I was in happy hour. But it was totally UNHAPPY.
Is it difficult to say It's your fault? Stop working in that industry.
Don't make people underestimate ur kitchen staff's effort becuz of ur attitude.

Good place to have breakfast

Not at all bad, but........ I was pleasantly surprised as soon as we stepped foot inside Bellaggio Cafe. The decor was very nice indeed and it had a sort of eclectic atmosphere and took me back to movies of 1940's Europe. The coffee they serve is standard coffee and nothing to write home about. I was expecting something a little bit more special, something that fit the atmosphere. But it didn't. It was like the same coffee as I would expect from a Denny's or an IHOP.....but without the refills. At $3 a cup I thought that was pretty steep. The food.....I ordered the Bellaggio Full Breakfast. It was an okay dish I guess. The hash browns were very disappointing, lacking flavour and texture. The toast was almost nowhere to be seen. Bread is cheap guys, at least give 2 or 3 decent sized slices, it is a breakfast after all. The sausages were nice. The eggs and bacon were standard.

I would like to go back here, more for the ambience than the food. But if I would have to order food I'd get something else. Maybe try the fish and chips. Not overly impressed on my first visit but definitely willing to see what the next experience brings.

New Pre-Movie Spot. We wanted to stop for dinner somewhere before going to the nearby theatre for a mid-evening movie and I suggested this place because the other one on the waterfront was so good the last time mom and I went. So after a quick look at the outdoor display menu we went in. The street was too noisy at that time of day so we sat inside and it was much more pleasant. There was one surprise, however...

Red duct-tape on the banquettes? Someone needs to do a little remodeling! There was red tape on both seats. A little offputting but we thought we'd see if the food was better than appearances.

As it was before 6pm we decided to do more of a snacky dinner and went with sharing five appetizers. The prosciutto and goat cheese flatbread was okay, too much wilted arugula and not enough prosciutto, goat cheese or balsamic drizzle. The smoked salmon flatbread was delicious and will definitely be ordered again (with extra capers next time). I need to find crispy capers like that somewhere...The honey garlic wings were quite nice - good flavour, lots of sauce and properly cooked so they were still juicy. The calamari was great, with just the right amount of breading, flavour, and love the dip sauce. The prawns were nice, could have used a few more to go with the two delicious sauces because the prawns themselves were good too!

All in all, we will go back but I definitely suggest they do something about that tape...

We went for breakfast around 9am. Place was full. We requested patio seating and we're swatted right away. Then we were ignored. Finally gave our drink and food order at same time. Drinks came. Food took forever and was cold when received. Never saw server thru entire meal. Had to ask for water refill. Not their finest moment.

Who says you can't get a good pizza in Vancouver?. Then they haven't been to Bellaggio Cafe.
Our daughter, is a sophomore at UBC. Our hotel concierge recommended this place. It was a nice walk from our hotel.
The three of us had a pleasant dining experience here. We all ordered individual pizzas. My wife had Margherita-pomodoro and mozzarella pizza with fresh basil, my daughter-Parma-prosciutto crudo topped with arugula and I went with the Baggio-olives, sun-dried tomatoes, goat cheese, parmesan, garlic, fresh basil The toppings were plentiful, the crust tasty and the portions were generous.
The prices were reasonable and the service was attentive and friendly.
If you don't want pizza there are many pasta dishes as well as meat and fish.

While visiting Vancouver, a friend and I went to this cafe three times because it was so good (and a short distance from my hotel). The pastas and pizzas were spectacular and the tiramisu was amazing. Overall, we were extremely impressed and I would recommend this little spot to anyone looking for a tasty meal in downtown Vancouver.

Eat here. Get sick. You may want to read the latest health and safety inspection report on this place before dining: http://www.inspections.vcha.ca/Inspection/Show/1a0d006b-3647-4045-b2a8-4f2d83f34a7d

Pleasant Monday morning brunch. On one of our "staycations" in downtown, we wandered past Bellagio this morning and being frugal travellers were enticed in by their $9.99 breakfast special. We were not disappointed. The service was prompt and courteous, the food was hot and tasty and the coffee sealed the deal-hot and flavourful. I chose sausage and poached eggs, my wife chose bacon and sunny side. The sausages were meaty and very lean, the poached eggs had just a hint of vinegar from the water they were in, just the way I like them. We swapped 2 slices of bacon for 1 sausage so I got to sample the bacon as well, done just to the firm stage (not breakable crispy) perfect.
The only reason we wouldn't go back to Bellagio is because there are so many places downtown that we have yet to try.

Breakfast is good here but be fair warned, it is crazy over priced. $50+ for 2 people is outrageous.

2 italians dissatisfied. Have been wanting to try out this cafe for a while since it looked quaint enough tucked away just around the corner from busy robson street. good location facing the vancouver art gallery and a fair size of patio outside. interior wasn't bad. unfortunately, thats where all "good" things ended.

there were 3 of us, myself, my husband who is an italian chef and an italian friend who was visiting vancouver for the first time. we came in and were told to sit anywhere we would like. there were already 2 booths filled with customers that seemed like they had already ordered and were waiting on their dishes. servers were seen chatting amongst themselves before approaching after roughly 10 minutes asking for drink orders but by then we had decided on our food as well. we order a couple beers and 3 pizzas which were on special that day. the italian friend asked for the wifi password from one of the servers which they didnt end up provided. the pizzas arrived 25 minutes later... soggy and mildly warm. and it was supposed to be from the wood oven stove which they have?? must have been the worst pizza ive ever tasted. had no flavour at all. our server was not at all attentive... did not ask for another beer after it had been empty for more than 15 minutes. one of the female servers was rude and snapped when she mistakenly brought over the wrong pizza and made a remark as an excuse. we sat around the corner from the kitchen view and was inconvenient to get a servers attention. plus 2 more tables have filled up and seemed as though the the servers were busy chatting up a storm with the new customers.

overall it was one of the worst experience at a supposedly intimate italian cafe. at least we tried it to never try it again.

Relaxing Atmosphere. I can here for late breakfast on a Friday morning. The food was decent, and appropriate portion size (get the bellaggio breakfast special 9.99!) but even more amazing was the fantastic atmosphere all around the area. I got a great window seat and relaxed reading my book with a GIANT delicious pot of tea (they have a great selection - not just your boring old Orange Pekoe). Wonderful for meeting with friends, but also so comfortable to sit alone in. Service was great.

Scrumptious Pizza. I had this superb pizza called Baggio at Bellaggio Cafe and it's to die for - great value and absolutely yummy! Will go back again for sure :)

Excellent. It was a cold winter evening, me and my friends decided to find a place to have a dinner. On the corner of Robson and Hornby we found Bellaggio Cafe. First thing that impressed us was a really warm atmosphere inside the restaurant. We ordered Veal Scallopini, pizza and some salads. Food was absolutely delicious. Service was on a very high level, our server was fast and very nice. We enjoyed our time in Bellaggio Cafe.

Pricey, but the Baggio pizza I had there was quite delicious. I liked how the crust was thin and not super greasy like most pizzas. The goat cheese, sun-dried tomatoes and olives were an exquisite combination!

Not a place I would readily come back to however, as the prices compared to the portion isn't worth it to me personally, but overall great food, atmosphere and service :)

Rise-n-shine!. Great place for b-fast! cool spot and spacious! Breakfast is yummy and their OJ is good too since it's freshly squeezed. Service is super ~ :D Service 4.0 out of 5 :) :)

Surprised this place is still open. Went to this place for a lunch with my co-workers. I've eaten in many Italian places and I always like new good places. I didn't expect much, average food would have been good for me, however...
I had Carpaccio which was the WORST carpaccio I have ever had. Actually it is not that it was worst it was not even close to being edible. It didn't have any tast and I had a hard time even finding it under all the arugula (which was not fresh and was fairly bitter as well).
For the main course I had Capricciosa. Beside the fact that it was thin crust and made in the proper owen everything else was disappointing. The artichokes were so dry that you could barely chew on them. Just simply disastrous...
This place is an Italian place and I tried 2 very typical Italian dishes so I expect them to be at least average but this was just disappointing. I should have known something was wrong the minut I heard Greek music in the middle of the Italian restaurant (love the Greeks and their food, but this "Italian rest and Greek music" combo just didn't make any sense).
This is my first ever bad review but I think it is really needed as this place is way overrated on this site...

Bad food. Bad, Bad!!!
My husband ordered Seafood linguine and it came out with fettucine noddles. My Veal parmasian came out dry and tasteless, the side vegetable were over cooked and sliced potatoes were soaking in oil. We did not know we could have that bad of food in the core of Vancouver.

We were very disappointed.

Best Pizza. Me and my boyfriend always come in for the bagio pizza. We love it!

Very friendly. We dropped by and found the place to be very kid friendly and the service to be excellent.

Who knew?. Was walking from the seaplane terminal with a friend. Turned the corner, and found this place.

We decided to sit for a mimosa and breakfast, and were pleasantly surprised. The frittatas are huge, filling, and delicious. And the breakfast potatoes were tasty, but not greasy like a typical breakfast potato. With a sunny patio, mimosas, and coffee, this is a great choice of breakfast spot!

Good experience. We ate at the Bellaggio our last night in Vancouver. We were greeted promptly, seated and served in the same manor. Our server was very personable and our food was very good. Our pizza was impressive and very tasty. It was reasonably priced and our server didn't hover, however he was prompt in taking care of our needs and the ambiance is great!

This place is ok. Decent selection of pizzas. Chewy crust, not crisp, which I assume some like. Wine by glass slecwtion not great.

Definitely not worth the money! My frittatas was dry as hell. The keyword is: not generous. Please, help me find a place for a decent brunch in Vancouver!

Food was alright, serving sometimes lacking attention and inspiration. I was there today with my wife for a lunch. It wasn't full when we arrived but the waitress wasn't inspired and served us a bit with less verve than expected. It could have been a bad day for her as I know from my wife that she was served well and I saw other waitresses paying more attention today. The food was quite good (pizzas, huge salads and cannelloni) - so I would recommend it this time and will try it again.

Out of control.... Was here for breakfast during the Olympics, out of control. Didn't want to say anything because I think everyone in Vancouver was a bit stressed, but we saw our server twice I think. Still, given the overall chaos that was that week in February, overall satisfied!

Fun Environment. Breakfast until 2:00 PM, fire burning grill pizzas and large portions of pasta, what's not to like? The patio looks inviting too, we'll be back in summer for lunch..

Overpriced and average food. Music too loud. Staff more interested in talking to each other than serving clients

Enjoyable! Te staff are friendly, food is tasty and the spot is comfortable and welcoming. Simple selection of wines, no attitude and a feeling that makes you want to come back!
Vanquished In Vancouver
No pepperoni at Bellagio. My husband and I had dinner at Bellagio last night. My Classico pizza, billed to have pepperoni, had some type of bland salami instead, not much cheese, and I could really only consume a couple of pieces although I was famished. My husband had lamb shank and found the sauce bland, too. Our server was not overly attentive and kept dropping silverware around our table. One positive note: a small round of soft flatbread was good.

Exceptional customer service and good food that I will most likely come back here again to try their breakfast and pizzas ‘cause they looked so delicious on the table when I was on my way to washroom. =P They offer great selection of mediterranean italian food and this place is good for group dining.

When you work irregular hours it is sometimes hard to find a nice sit down restaurant open during the time between lunch and dinner. Today we found such a place. This wasn’t our first choice, but wanting to bypass the lines of its neighbours we directed our attention here. Good thing, as I think that what we had for how much we paid was better than the coffee and pastry we were originally aiming for. We approached the hostess booth manned by two young women, one of which assumed the role of our server. We confirmed that lunch would be a speedy affair and sought a seat by the window, giving us the patio and sidewalk as our view. Great location, but it’s out of the way proximity meant we struggled to get service. Waving hands for refills and attempting uninterrupted eye contact to get the bill. The days were getting colder and the handsome patio out front was left unseated. Chairs with light wooden limbs and black faux leather cushions looked as comfy as anything available to us indoors. The large red umbrellas with their logo kept sun or rain out of the way, though the latter was more prevalent these days. The umbrellas were the only things that differentiated this patio from the other adjacent two. Inside, the room was cozy and warm. The accumulation of curiosities gave the space character. And the every day wear of fixtures gave aways its age. An antique globe on a weathered cabinet, a book shelf of tattered encyclopedia volumes by the washroom, and a bust in stone smirking proudly on the counter. The restaurant was ready for winter with a trimmed pine tree, a lit garland, and hanging sequinned ornaments. They helped to make the rest of the room festive and more homey. There was ample seating during the 1:30pm lull. Still in time for a late breakfast, and not yet time for happy hour. In the corner was their bar. A space set up to serve both gourmet coffees and specialty cocktails. Milk steamers and jiggers side by side. Shelves dedicated to teas leaves and coffee b

Overall, brunch was tasty - decor was tacky and awkward though

Random wall of Avatar, TVs airing business related talkshows, large books stacked everywhere, italian outside of the house balcony look on the other side.

The latte tasted pretty much like the cappuccino. It had way too much milk foam and way too little flavour. Feels like I was drinking coffee-flavoured milk.
Egg And Soldiers
So today was a day of miracles: first the sun, and the chef at the Bellagio served up two perfectly soft boiled eggs. And yes, I repeat, they were perfect. The whites were firm, and the yolks were creamy and smooth. Well played, sir/ma’am. Well played. The rest of the breakfast was okay: bacon was crisp, the potates were slightly undercooked and the toast, well the toast was where Bellagio fell down. See when you have egg and soldiers you need soldiers! Lots of them! At least two of them! One soldier just wasn’t enough. Bellagio does get points for serving the tea in a space aged
