Review Doolin's Irish Pub - Vancouver

possible dreams
Our server was attentive with a great sense of humour. The pub is super relaxed with lots of dark woods and the odd bit of stained glass . Some Tv's were on for those wanting sports and every kind of beer/hardbar you could ask for . We ate a huge plate of potato nachos that were topped with cheese ,black olives and jalapenos...absolutley delicious! Yes I will return :)

Good food and friendly staff. Inside it looks a little quaint but spacious for larger groups. Lots of tvs with sports around. For the food it’s a pub so what else to eat than a pie. We had the shepherds pie and a Guinness beef pie. Both were delicious nice and hot and great flavors. We also had the cheese sticks as starter which was not bad but nothing special. For drinks serve a lot of beers on tap and a broad selection of whiskey.

Expected more choices of irish beers like franciscan wells or orchards thieves etc. menus limited to more to canadian/local. Was still nice to have some irish vibes in!

It is a fine place to enjoy a good Draft no matter if you want an Ale or a Pale, some Dry Stout or an Irish Cream, decent food and great service. Give it a shoot, you will enjoy your stay.....Cheers! - If you notice I did not gave the 5 stars, there is a proper answer for that: I tasted the Worst courtesy wine of my life in this place. ....so far, I mean I have tasted Padre Kino (Some mexican cheap, crappy wine better use in food industry) and that stuff is Nun approved !!!....In the other hand they serve fine Whisky. Kind regards to all.

Fun cozy bar. Decent French Onion soup. No cover before 9pm.

Such an awesome place! Great food, super friendly staff. Came in for dinner and thought it was so fun, I wandered back for a nightcap around 10 p.m. Amazing live music on a Monday night.....3 hours later, I should leave, but can't bring myself to do it! ***Edit to my original post*** Now that I've spent a few evenings enjoying appetizers and dinner here (and tasting my companions choices), I feel I can safely say there is nothing on their menu that will disappoint! The staff has proven to be consistently friendly and helpful every time. Doolin's Irish Pub has definitely become a must-stop for me anytime I am in Vancouver!

Awesome place! Live music, great food and lots of drinks to choose from.

Overpriced, mediocre food that took forever to come out. They were also out of basically their whole menu at 7pm on a Saturday. Not only did the waitress put mandatory tip on the bill even after messing up so many orders (we were 8 people), she added three drinks to our bill that we're 100% certain no one ordered and didn't let us leave until we paid for them. Trash experience, never going back.

Very authentic, always a great place to hang out, very delicious food, everything’s a great price, great staff & service. In my top 5 favourite pubs in the world.
Andy Cannon
A great place to watch the Six Nations rugby tournament. $20 includes a good breakfast buffet, a pint of the black stuff (or Harp lager if you must), and of course the game streamed live. For the Wales v England game it was the BBC feed, so we had the comments of Jiffy and Moore-o to delight or disgust !

Younger crowd. American bar staff. Music was too loud, but again, it was for a younger crowd, so...Drinks were good.

Spot on food.. Good with it having wnglish food on the menu.. Also a good portion size.. Friendly staff to :)

It's a cool place to have a beer and make friends. Good service and great music. I recommend.

An Irish pub is not about the location or the stuff on the walls or the tables and chairs. It's about the staff and the craic. Doolins fits the bill aesthetically But what makes the experience is the staff and Doolins have it. The lad behind the bar ( didn't get his name, fortyish with a beard ) was welcoming and chatty, knew how to interact and have the craic. That's what an Irish pub is about.

Happy people in happy places. The beer is good and the food is better. Oh, they have live performances to boot if you're lucky.

A great place and always a good time. The staff always friendly and provide great service.

Cool Irish pub, had a few drinks and the hand cut potato nachos were delicious and a great size for the price. bang for buck. Will definitely check this place out again. Cool Keith Urban looking Bartenders and a cool good looking waitress named Chelsea. Cheers guys.

Hidden Gem the food was amazing and the bangers and mash were to die for!

An okay place to pop by and have a drink and an "Irish-inspired" dish. Happened upon a very friendly Irish stranger who told me that Doolin's is very much not an authentic Irish pub. I've not been to Ireland so I wouldn't know but you can tell that this isn't really the real deal. The service is awesome though and it's a really nice loud environment if you like a livelier casual pub to some at.

Another Irish pub, another food review from the Virajie. Been here a couple times now & both visits have been pleasant. Located right on Nelson Street in the heart of downtown, location couldnt be more prime 👌Decor of the pub was competent & spacious. Simple & uncomplicated menu with a good selection of spirits & on-tap beers. Pleasant service & great food top off another satisfying dine-out.<br/><br/>P.S. absolutely loved my mozza sticks + chicken pot pie.

Place is joke went to the pub with my father after a wedding had a couple of beers had a bouncer run and grab me from the back then smack me around when i asked what i did he just kept saying you know what you did now im bared, its great to see people train there staff, its also great having that happen with my father watching thanks for that i hope you go under.

Came for a small reunion with my dental hygiene girls on St. Patrick's Day. Line up was slightly more than half a block at 8pm. Boyfriend asked bouncer how long the wait would be and was told either we pay $20 or over an hour wait. Since the other girls were not here yet, we just waited in line. After entering, we were told there was a $20 cover. We weren't too happy about that since the bouncer didn't tell us. The other pubs around this area were not charging cover eg Roxys. <br/><br/>We ordered a couple Double Long Island and beers. The Long Island was very flat and couldn't taste the liquor. When the waitress asked my boyfriend what he wanted, he said water because he did not know what he wanted yet. The waitress bluntly stated that "water? it's St. Patricks day, you should have a beer." We weren't too happy about that as it felt she was pressuring us to buy liquor. What if he was the DD? The water never came either. We were asked to pay our bill after just a few sips into our drinks.

You HAVE to try the BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwich! We came back and had this 3 days in a row! It's sooo tasty! The pulled pork has caramelized parts, and the onions are so sweet! Loved it! Service is always great too!

Bad service!. I went to Doolin's to hang out with friends. As I was waiting for my friends to show up the female server asked me to order, I said to her i'm waiting for people but she just wouldn't stop asking me to order. When my friends showed up I finally placed my order. They burnt my burger so I was not happy! They were very rude and the food sucked. I would not come here again!

Wings and beer. I'm not from the neighbourhood so the Doolin's had always been a less frequent stop of mine but after my experience on Friday I will definitely be back more often! The wings were amazing, holding up their title as best in town and the waitress was very friendly. After dinner started she came by and I chatted with her about her digits and I ended up winning! I will be back for sure.

The waitresses weren't very nice. I ordered nachos and they gave me a plate of greasy potato chupset covered in sour cream and cheese. I was very disappointed.

What is wrong with Vanouver men. I say men in quotation marks. Two women just having a good time and we laugh politely at their first joke and answer a ciuple of questions to not be short and they think it is an invitation to enter our conversation and pick us up. Married men or not I am here to eat and no being picked up at a bar is not my idea of a good time or class. How original. Disgusting atmosphere.

Dissapointed. I suppose this will get taken off of here. Im from UK. Been in 4 times to the pub. Each time i waited a while to get served. I still got a tab though, which is as it should be. Not that it means much to us back home. The 5th time i had enough with all the waiting and said i was dying of thirst, and there was other people waiting. We all got served but he asked me for a credit card or payment up front. Never have i been asked before Probably as i had complained. I stayed local to my Hotel and gave them a chance. Food average by VC standards and Beer nothing different from all the rest. Dont be persuaded by the Irish Bar theme here. Theres better. A guy played good songs which all sounded the same. Theres entertainment downstairs not remotely Irish and they all wear Kilts behind bar to add plastic effect. Shame really as maybe potential here for a very old VC pub.

Drinks good, food okay, service terrible. Was there on a Friday night. Good spot to go for drinks but not much else. Food tasted like it had come out of a PC freezer. Drinks were slow coming all night and the waitress forgot two orders. <br/>By the time the bill came around there was a disagreement. The waitress basically told us to pay the bill and piss off.

Got what we wanted. Can't speak for the food, but it was a nice spot for a pint. Good beer list, good daily drink features.

Irish brekkie!. Best breakfast deal in downtown Vancouver. I stop in every time I am in town.

Food ain't bad, drinks way to expensive. $9 for a Rickard's Red? Outrageous.

VIP Treatment. I had a great experience here during our weekend trip to Vancouver for the Olympics. The bartender (Jeff) was extremely friendly, giving us tips on places to go, things to see and what to do. Given the sheer volume of people, he made us feel very important. Of course, the food was exceptional (the Pountine is to die for) and great selection of brews.

Could you care less?. As my mother and I left last night, I asked her, "Could our server have cared less?" <br/><br/>"No."<br/><br/>Food was fine, drinks were fine. But the girl serving us was awful. To answer our questions (and we only had one about the size of the portion) was like pulling teeth. She would walk by our table and avoid looking at us. While I realize she's just there to serve the drunken Monday night football crowd, she's tarnished my entire impression of the place.

Great place for drinks and dinner. Waitress very polite, and always smile!! I would defenetly go back!!

Doolins is what an Irish pub is all about. Loud, friendly pub atmoshphere with friendly host and staff that make enjoyable nights out in the city.

After an earlier hockey game where does one go? Why, to a pub to continue the drinking of course! With beers from bottles and more from taps, all at half the cost at GM place. Sunday evening proved to be a slower night at “Doolin’s”. We were able to walk in with out a wait, and immediately spot ample seating across high tops and on bar stools. As per bar custom, you seat yourself and hope to be noticed enough to gain a menu. We chose two seats by the bar to ensure quicker delivery of beverages. This had all the typical bar trappings: Dim lighting from flickering bulbs. Large television screens mounted at every direction, each broadcasting a variety of sporting competitions. Behind the actual bar, stood handsome shelves lined with hard liquors in the back and taps of craft brews out front. And patrons varying from those dressed to get notice in sparkles to those looking to hide in the dark with their caps pulled forward. My guest and I were two girls looking for bottomless drinkin

I really don't blame Doolin's for being more than just an Irish pub specializing in only Irish food as that probably isn't going to cut it in fussy Vancouver. For your classic pub stuff, there is a "Pub Favourites" section of the menu. The rest is... the rest. Call it what you want, but it's basically a mishmash of everything comfortably familiar and safe to order. Duck Bites ($8) Chipotle and ginger marinated duck bites topped with spicy pickled jalapenos, wrapped in bacon and topped with a sweet sesame soy glaze You get about six of these, which are really bite-sized. The rest of your plate is salad. There's spicy heat here, so if you're not used to spicy, watch out. Whatever taste the duck had was covered up by the stronger flavour of bacon. Short Rib Flatbread ($10) Red wine braised beef short rib with caramelized onions, dry roasted cherry tomatoes, mozzarella, and tomato sauce, topped with a house-made blue cheese aioli The rectangular portion you get is about half the size of a

The other day, we were invited to Doolin’s Irish Pub to try out some of the new menu items like the Cork Country Chicken Pot Pie. We also have a gift giveaway at the end of this post from Doolin’s! I’ve never been previously. I was really surprised by how good their food is for a pub and the affordable drinks. I’ve only been downstairs at the Cellar, to shoot video and photos for live music. I didn’t know Doolin’s had live music as well (Sunday to Thursday at 9:30pm). Doolin’s is open 7 days a week from 11:30am to 2am on weekdays and 3am on weekends. I will definitely have to come back, especially after having some sweet eats. I had to bring Josh, because he is Irish himself. So all aboard the double person post! Josh:  We started the night off great with two pints of the house specialty, the Alexander Keith infusion. This refreshing beverage is a work in progress, something the house makes new each week, trying out some pretty exciting combinations each time. This week, we got lucky w

Pub food has evolved from fish and chips and poutines. The new menu at Doolin's is proof of that. I was lucky enough to be invited to a preview of their new menu. For starters, we were given a taste of their new flatbreads. The These are big enough to share and they're excellent. The Mediterranean ($9) has a delicious blend of grape tomatoes, Kalamata olives, red onions, spinach, artichokes, banana peppers, mozzarella and feta cheeses and pesto. Duck Confit ($10) comes with tender duck confit, sun-dried tomatoes, arugula in a bed of melted mozzarella and parmesan cheeses. The Crab and Asparagus has fresh crab, asparagus, roasted red peppers, scallions, mozzarella and parmesan cheeses with a creamy Alfredo sauce. This was a favourite at my table. If hunger still prevails, The new menu offers a variety of entrees, to chose from. We had a few to chose from: The Beer Can Chicken Sandwich ($11) has a rich gravy and crispy fried onions which give this sandwich a nice crunch. It comes on a so

Just in time for NHL Playoffs, Doolin's launched their new spring and summer menu tonight and offered a tasting to bloggers. Rick and I checked it out with our fellow food bloggers, Dave and Ann from Me plus food , Amy from Food Queen and Mary from Vancouver Bits and Bites Blog and photographer, Maurice Li . The new menu definitely reflects the gastropubs of Europe as opposed to the nachos and beer Canadian pubs here. I love the new upscale items and what's better than watching Ryan Kesler score the winning goal while sipping on craft beer and nibbling on duck confit flatbread. Doolin's Ale, Doolin's Irish Pub, 654 Nelson Street, Vancouver Before our entrees were served, we each ordered a beer and enjoyed some appies. I stuck with the Doolin's Ale, which was refreshing and slightly sweet and nutty. A great thirst quencher because the little duck bites were salty. Duck bites, Doolin's Irish

Last week we had the pleasure of joining many bloggers and media to try out the new menu at Doolins. We were invited by Pearl Lam of the Granville Entertainment Group. I've walked by Doolins on many occasions but haven't been inside. It's quite a large Pub, with many TVs to enjoy lots of sports. You can bet it'll be a great place to watch the NHL Playoffs here. We were invited to try out some new items on their menu. There were the Duck Bites which were delicious and wrapped in bacon. Meaty one-bite wonders of tender duck, and crisp bacon, served with salad. We were also able to try many different pizzas served on flat breads. We got to try each of the three options - Duck Confit, Mediterranean, and Crab & Asparagus. All of the pizzas had a nice crisp crust, and plenty of toppings. My favourite was the duck confit. The Mediterranean was pretty good too, but I found it a bit salty because of the olives. For the mains, we had the choice of Beer Can Chicken Sandwich, Baja-Style

There is simply no other way to say it then the fact that we were flat out gouged, not so much on the meal, although at $10 the one piece Fish & Chips is a bit on the high side. We each had a beer with lunch, Tara a Corona and Jeff a pint of Rickards Red
