Review Blind Sparrow - Vancouver

Stopped by for Happy Hour prior to my Stanley Park visit. Happy hour is offered 3-5. I got the daily special tacos, avocado & beet fries, and fried chicken. The fried chicken is so perfectly battered with sriracha buttermilk marinade and pair with Serrano ranch on the side. Every bite was an absolute delight. The avocado & beet fries are battered tempura styles and topped off with herbs and goat cheese accompanied by burnt citrus pepitas underneath. The textures were impeccable. This happy hour menu was a great preview of the restaurant as a whole - I look forward to coming back to try their other options in the future.

Great find in west end! Good food, liked happy hour food and beverages a lot. Try the mezze platter or avocado and beet tempura or chicken bites - all delicious. Snd to top it off, little cinnamon donuts with dip, yum! Very reasonable in price. Good local beer on tap. We will be back for sure and thank you Alicia for great service and a stellar attitude!

I visited this place a few times in its old location and was glad to find that it had relocated into The Hook and not closed down. I particularly enjoy their cocktails - it's not their focus but they have some really nice ones, in particular the Escobar. Well balanced flavours. The merged food menu looks great. Had the Avacado and Beet Frites. They were unique and really yummy.

Friendly service, great HH & lots of local CRAFT brews!

Great ambiance to this bar, with calm lighting and casual but funky decor. Great list of beers on tap. Service is friendly and attentive. The food is good but small portions and overpriced. One of the better bars in the West End, no doubt about it. I came with a big group (15+) on a Thursday evening and the staff was very accommodating, including pushing many tables together and not letting our drinks run empty.

Great food, really nice space, fantastic patio, best veggie plate I've ever had. What's not to like?

Wonderful music- Tuesdays the man playing live music rocks and Erica is a wonderful helpful person and gave the best recommendations- try the quinoa tacos and mezze plate!

I love living in the West End (west of Denman) for many reasons. However we have been forever starved for cool little pubs/lounges with a good vibe to sit down for a couple drinks and good nibblies. So many of these places exist on Main, Commercial, Broadway west of MacDonald, Gastown, etc...but why not us :(. Bayside is the only place that comes close....Dover Arms is just a sad place to visit. However FINALLY have a cool loungie place to go to in the West End. . Just a block north of Robson on Denman. Only been open for a couple of weeks. Staff was fun and attentive. Food was great and very fair prices. Tend to be smaller tasty servings versus big sit down dinner. Good selection of beers on tap. Music was on point for moi. Supposedly live music coming a couple nights of the week...Yahoo!!! I hope they make it and become neighbours for many years down the road.

Moved to the neighbourhood from Coal Harbour and been meaning to check this place out for a while. Wow! So nice to see a menu that doesn't include braised short ribs. The Vietnamese steak wraps were so good, as was the fried chicken tho a wee bit salty. Mussels are a YES!

Best bar in Vancouver to meet up with friends and grab the best beer available. Great vibe and aesthetic.

Great place to stop for amazing cocktails and tasty snacks! Just happened on this place by accident, and it was a welcome recharging spot after a walk around Stanley Park! Will definitely be back the next time we're in Vancouver.

The blind sparrow offer an amazing selection of beer. Accompanied with expert bar service, knowledge and humour. The food at the Blind Sparrow provides a 'party in your mouth' experience. With reasonable pricing and the Happiest of Hours. I highly recommend The Blind Sparrow

So impressed with their accommodating and speedy service on a busy pre-fireworks night. The food was also incredible, three appies are more than enough for two people to share, although we were tempted to order everything on the menu. Jambalaya spring rolls - omg tasty. I can't wait to go back and try it all (including some cocktails and craft beers).

False advertisement on beer price. If you order their Strange Fellows, which is a strong 10% IPA, they call it a 16 oz. it comes in the same glass as their other 14 oz beers. They tried to argue that it is a stronger beer, so the physical volume is “the same” as a 14 oz. and then they charge you for a 20 oz. We busted them on it, the waitress immediately changed the price. Watch out for this kind of seemingly dishonesty. Blind Sparrow management, if you see this, and I hope you do, please consider this as a sincere suggestion to your wonderful wide-beer-selection-cool-spot on the humble West End: do it for your own good to play it fair. If you meant to, and we’re misunderstood, consider making it clear. We’d love to keep our buzz with no troubles, and sure that you do too. Cheers!

Love that it is a totally nut-free environment! Casual, super friendly -- the staff was amazing. Good food, quick service & well priced. Had a couple delicious cocktails & was happy they were under $10 each, when in Vancouver it is very easy to spend $18 on a single drink. Our new favourite neighbourhood go to, plan on becoming regulars!

The Blind Sparrow on Denman (across the street from Kintaro Ramen) calls themselves “Vancouver’s first gastrotavern”. I fail to see the difference between “gastrotavern” and the more popular term “gastropub”. Let’s see if my visit during their happy hour cuts through the bs and answers the question, “Is this place good enough to return to?”

Service was very slow. We finished our drinks and the food didn't come. The food portion is more appy size than a full meal size. The mao down pork ribs have this overly sweet flavoring to it. The spring roll came with ranch like dressing which was a bit weird for me. I like the fried chicken, it has a bit spiciness with it.

Great local beer selection in pints and the best chicken I've ever tasted. All the food we tried was tasty and the service was impeccable. Good to have this place in the West End

Great place for a work meeting, cool vibe and great energy. We only had drinks but had a great time. The staff were awesome. Ask for the zombie impression, u won't regret it!

Really good service and excellent dishes. Great wine and beer selection. Everything we tried was delicious but we LOVED the fried chicken and salt prawns. Although food was good, we thought the prices were a little high for the portion sizes but I'd go back if I'm in the area again.
