I ordered the Butter Chicken, and my friend ordered a Chicken Masala. Both dishes were great, but my personal preference would be the Chicken Masala. The metal bowls were heated with a candle underneath to keep it warm, which was a nice touch. They however did not come with rice, which we needed to order separately for $5 per portion. Keep this in mind when ordering! All in all, would recommend to others.

Food is delicious and very fast, it's almost on your table before you even ordered! Service very good and polite. Price also very reasonable for Robson St. The prawns vindaloo are a must try and their naans are amazing!

Dishes heated with candles under the metal bowls. Very unique flavors. Nice decor. Pleasant waiter. We'll be back.

Great food and amazing customer service. We loved the garlic naan ,saffron rice and the butter chicken. The portions were good for the price and all our dishes were very tasty. Service was really fast. We will definitely recommend it to our friends and family. Can’t wait to have dinner here again.

Incredible service and great food at a price you can afford - what more can you ask for? Try the buffet, it is the best deal going.

Being new to the city decided to try out a few restaurants. This place had AWFUL food and service. I hope people in India don't eat this crap which they call authentic Indian food. They are serving supermarkets ready meals four times more expensive than its actual price. Naan bread had this filthy burnt oven scraps which show they have zero hygiene standards never cleaned kitchen oven.

Ordered Lamb rogen josh and was not disappointed. Very tasty and spicy sauce with lean meat. Have to say that some pieces of meat were a little bit tangy. Rice cooled down very quickly but when mixed with the hot curry, it was ok. Restaurant used heaters (wax lights) to keep food warm. Naan bread (specifically the peshwari naan) was delicious, although a bit greasy.

Food - 0.5/2.0
Ambiance - 1.0/1.0
Service - 1.0/1.0
Price - 0.25/1.0
Overall - 2.75/5.0

It has a good decor and situated in a nice second floor area. I ordered a lamb vindaloo with a basmati rice. However, the lamb was not succulent. It was very fibrous (dry).

Note to owner:
I would be happy to come here a second time if you plan on improving the quality of the lamb.

@Spicy6FineIndianCuisine

Robson Street is home to some amazing restaurants in Vancouver serving up a wide range of cuisines. If you’re craving some Indian food, you might just consider Spicy 6 (Robson & Thurlow) that offers authentic Indian food with a modern twist. Last month, I had the opportunity to visit Spicy 6 and try some of their offerings.
Picky Diner
The dishes I tasted at Spicy 6 brought amazing sensory pleasures. For an appetizer, the Lasuni Gobi was delicious, and a fried cauliflower dish never seemed more vibrant and sexier. The Prawn Masala and the Lamb Rogan Josh were full of bold flavours, but the Exotic Saffron Chicken Curry, a limited offer for the Curry Challenge, was the star of the evening, luscious, aromatic and bursting in flavours. For a taste of the refined Indian cooking in Downtown Vancouver, I recommend this place.

Ironically we had everything in mild, despite the restaurant’s name being “Spicy 6”. On this night we were invited to dine at “Spicy 6” on Robson Street. I was aware that they existed, but I guess I never thought of looking up and climbing the stairs to enjoy their “authentic indian food with a modern twist”, until invited to do so. And this is a shame, considering that they are good, and as the only Indian restaurant in the area, a good stop when you have that craving after a long day of shopping.

In my life, I've experienced authentic Indian food maybe three times and the times I had it, I remembered it to be very spicy. This could have been because my parents enjoyed spicy food and I wasn't a huge fan. . Fast forward to recently, I was presented with an opportunity to try out Spicy 6, located at 1116 Robson Street in Vancouver.

Showcase of height of customer dissatisfaction -

My family went there for snacks which was there on their menu and were asked that they don't serve any snacks unless we go for full meal , which meant either full lunch or dinner....absolutely ludicrous ...

The guy who told us this after we were seated was absolutely unapologetic that we have to pack and now leave without being served...this is despite us having ordered a menu item..

Will advise not to visit them due to total apathy of customer service

TERRIBLE experience! This time we got CHICKEN in Shahi Paneer what was supposed to be vegetarian..and RUDE staff!! I'm allergic to meat. I have been here before with my friends and every time we had a poor experience with the service. But this time it crossed all the limits. Chicken in a vegetarian entry??!! Are you kidding me?? And the replacement order was served in 2 minutes and they were claiming it's freshly made. This is the worst of all dining experiences.
Do not order out, a total rip off. We placed a take out order, 3 items which can to $45.00 in 3 little containers that you would get from a grocery store. Not even enough to feed, 2 people at all. Manager does not work on Friday night, so they had to call her and she finally called me back. She actually tried to justify the portions, by stating that this is downtown Vancouver and everyone does this. 2 of the portions did not even have enough meat to call them a meat dish, we were ripped off and I need to share this with everyone.

Came here for Dine Out 2016 with a friend. Appies were pretty standard and not exciting (alu tikki seemed frozen, lasuni gobi was super flavourful and tasty but too salty). The lamb rogan josh was amazing, great flavours. And huge portions! I took home leftovers. I'm interested in coming back for their lunch buffet.

We had an excellent dinner here , we asked for hot and it was just the amount of burn. The lamb was really tender. On service ,there where three of use and the waitress help us choose portion size and she was spot on.

Good food, good price
CHECKED IN
DINER FROM BC •anika
I love indian food, and love spicy6, so this place was a nice little surprise. I've been for the lunch buffet 5 times and I'm always happy. It is a really reasonable price for all you can eat- 12.99 bucks for lunch. Their naan is made fresh and brought to to your table, it is definitely the best I've had in the city. Perfect little bit of butter on the naan.great food,

Used to like it. Used to really like it, actually. The flavours are very good, sometimes even excellent. But on two of my visits I (we) have ordered our food "spicy", only to have it arrive with virtually no spice. The first time this happened, the guy openly said when he delivered the food, "Yours is just medium, sir." I should have turned him away right then and there and told him to give me what I asked for. He just assumed I was a baby, I guess. The second time -- the last time I went and the last time I shall go -- the food again had hardly any spice -- literally none, like I thought the cook had simply forgotten -- and when we asked at the end he said a few people had complained that their food was too spicy. So, apparently, if some baby complains that the food is too spicy, nobody else can get what they ask for. You can be asked how spicy you would like your food, and you can say "spicy", but you don't get it.

It would be nice, if they really insist on not giving you what you ask for, if they didn't ask if you would like the food to be spicy in the first place. Offering it, having you then wait for it and look forward to it, and then giving you a dish of disappointment vindaloo is not fair. That's why I'm so moved to make this negative review.

Perhaps they should rename the restaurant "6".

So in the days when I used to get what I asked and paid for, I liked this place a lot. But it seems there's always a random chance that you will not get what you ask for.

If you don't mind a lack of spice, and don't mind not getting what you ask for, get the chili paneer. That's fantastic. Otherwise, this is yet another failure of a Robson St Indian eatery.

Not Bad but not Great. You know when you try a restaurant that isn't necessarily bad, but doesn't really make much of an impression either? Spicy 6 is one of those. I have no real complaints here. The portions were decent, the food was authentic, and the service was good.

There was just nothing that "wow"ed me. Truly exceptional Indian cuisine is something that is in paradoxical short supply in Vancouver (given the size of the Indo-Canadian community). I would be less disappointed if the other Indian restaurants in town could at least hold up this standard.

Amazing food great customer service. The food is amazing and the customer service was great. They served fresh hot naans to our table. I went for dinner it was a great experience best east indian food I have tried in a long time. I also went for lunch during my break and had their buffet, Great prices recommend this place to everyone.

Never come back!. We went there for dinner. Sneaky waitress was trying to "push" us order more food than we can eat. We waited long time to get her serve us a water. Burned tandoori chicken. very disappointed.

Great buffet with surpises. I went with 3 coworkers for lunch AYCE today using 2 socialshoppers vouchers. Service was friendly was fast. Fresh naan bread were served on our table automatically and kept coming. The selection of the buffet was not much but all the selections were quite tasty. 1 thing to note is that the butter chicken and curry beef had lots of meat in the trays, unlike other Indian buffets with mostly sauce. The tandoori chicken was not hot, just warm, which could have improved. Other than that, I feel that this is a great Indian restaurant.

Very tasy Indian food!. Like other reviewer, went there with friend on Groupon deal (a couple weeks ago, just writing review now). Got vegetable pakoras, butter chicken and chana masala. Mains came with naan and rice. A lot of food and everything was delicious and flavourful! Prices are in line with other Indian restaurants (avg $13-14 for entrees). Wish I lived closer so I could come here more often.

Went there yesterday with a groupon deal and was pleasantly surprised! Doesn't look like much from the outside but the service was good and the value was great!
