Review Showcase Restaurant & Bar - Vancouver

Came for quick lunch with some coworkers. Our office is very close by. Restaurant was bright and quite large. Staff were all very friendly. Our server Dwayne was energetic, up beat and always had a smile. Excellent service. We ordered the tuna tatami bowl, 2 of them and the Korean fried chicken bowl. Food was excellent, healthy portions. We all had a great time!

Food was exceptional. Service was quick, pleasant and professional. The salmon with eggplant was flavorful and delicious. The burger was juicy and well garnished. Kale and quinoa salad was fresh and good. Service was great and attentive, constantly checking in and making sure we were happy. My only comment is that it is a hotel bar/restaurant so the ambiance is not amazing, however the food and service more than make up for it.

We usually go out for breakfast but since we had a short and busy morning before heading out to Whistler we decided to stay in the hotel for breakfast. That was a great idea since we had the best breakfast during our trip to Vancouver. It started with an amazing service by our waiter who was very accommodating and made us feel welcomed. He had a lot of energy which made our morning more exciting. He had recommended us some suggestions which were delightful. The food was excellent but the service made it that much better!

Incredible! How does this place not have five stars? Everything here was on point. Service was quick and amazing, super friendly and sociable staff who were able to help and give great recommendations! Alvin was our server and he was super awesome and the best server we have had in a long time! Food was super hot and fresh. Juicy and flavourful chicken wings highly recommend! And the desert was amazing and had so many fresh berries on it which was a pleasant surprise!

Me and a coworker spent a week in Vancouver, and stayed at the Marriott. We were in the Showcase many times and never disappointed. The food is great, but the employees are the biggest asset. Your likely to meet Duane for breakfast. He is the nicest, and the most dedicated guy! Alvin and Myra were familiar faces staffing the bar. Good conversation and nice old fashioneds! Everyone there made the stay over the holiday more enjoyable.

Five stars for the excellent food and service (although idk about vegan or vegetarian options) Highly recommend the breakfast bowl! It had a good amount of kale. Three stars for cleanliness (chairs looked like they were dirty, my napkin had a stain on it)

Unfortunately I do not remember the name of a person who served us the breakfast, but she was absolutely nice person who not only helped me to start a nice day but also answered some of my questions about Vancouver. Maybe the only thing that can be better is the portion size

We were surprised at how empty this place was on a Saturday night, considering everywhere else downtown had about an hour-long wait for a table. Maybe it's that their menu options are not as extensive and varied as most restaurants. Or maybe people just don't think of hotel-affiliated restaurants as top choices for a casual summer night out. Either way, we were glad for it because we had the whole place practically all to ourselves and really enjoyed the quiet, comfortable, and classy dining experience. The service was excellent and aside from my salmon being a bit over-cooked, the flavours and presentation of all the items we ordered were on point. If they could expand their menu options and at least include a steak or lamb option (which is what I was looking to have for dinner last night), I would rate them a bit higher.

Had a NYE dinner, $80 per person with very little food selection. Food was not good and not tasty. Hot food items were just warm. Salmon and beef were over cooked. Pasta was dry. One reason we chose this place was the liquid nitrogen ice cream but they didn't mention there will be only one flavour, apple cinnamon, and I don't eat cinnamon...Never mentioned in the menu and I had no other choices. We know we have 1.5 hour time frame but the server kept rushing us. "Reminded" us 3 times since we sat down and we had to pay the bill half way while we were eating. We would not recommended this place to anyone.

The lady in the table next to us said her Thai bowl was too spicy. I judged her for thinking that since Thai food is supposed to be spicy. Food and service always great, especially the complimentary flat bread!! You can totally tell it was made by love!

Great staff from Hostess to servers and amazing food in a great setting

The food was ok. The service was the worst I have ever experienced. Yes, we were a large group, but the staff in my opinion were very inexperienced. It took forever to get anything. We waited for 40 minutes just to get a beer. It was rediculous. I don't get downtown very often, because I live in Maple Ridge, but having spent the weekend in town, I did note that the service everywhere we went was terrible. It's really unfortunate that as a World Class City, we cannot find good servers, and people to work in the service industry because of the housing and rental markets, and the fact that the average person cannot afford to live in Vancouver working in service making minimum wage. Will this get worse before it gets better?

Amazing service, rates and exceptional experience. Very child friendly!!!

me and a friend went this place for lunch. I really like their Korean bbq style food, with a bit western twist - the sweet taste is the best part, in my opinion. Definitely recommend this place for people who want a quick lunch, with certain qualities :)

I expected the prices to be pretty high considering the nice interior and atmosphere of the hotel. We found out that they had a “Happy Hour” menu which were half the price of the regular prices! Nice!. Tortilla Chip $2.50 was really crisp with all the chips not broken into little pieces. The salsa dip was fresh and tasted really good. Couldn’t get enough of it. I would definitely order these again! Mmmm!Mushroom Flatbread $6.50 with mushrooms, truffle, arugula. I love arugula! The flatbread was very tasty and not too burnt or too thick.

Staying at the Mariott, had breakfast mostly at Showcase. The eggs benedict are highly recommended - really fresh ham and hollaindaise to top it. The waffles (with berries and cream) are also worth trying if you dont mind the calories. The french toast were disappointing. They are oily and probably deep fried in a crust - very odd. Avoid. The buffet breakfast is ordinary. Service though is very good.

Had an absolutely amazing experience here. The service was spectacular: very attentive and helpful. The food is also delicious. All of the fish is Oceanwise and fresh, and super tasty. Will go back absolutely.

I remember my very first time coming to Showcase restaurant is the Marriott Pinnacle was for dinner as we purchased a dinner deal through a local deal site. This was years back but I can still remember how impressed I was with everything – from the plating, technique of cooking to the taste. So when I received the invitation to come to a special “Bon Appetit” 6-course dinner crafted by Executive Chef Jesse Hochhausen and Executive Sous Chef Westley Feist, I was beyond excited.

Excellent location, great menu and good portions and value. It definitely feels like a hotel restaurant, which it is, but with much better food. I would definitely come back. The Cobb salad was very fresh. The salmon was over cooked though. Our server was nice, but seems over whelmed. Good overall.

Last minute my friends and I decided to have dinner at Showcase. I didn't expect much as it was a hotel restaurant. The menu looked like your standard corporate restaurant (chicken strips, sweet potato fries, wings, halibut and steak) and we made it in time for happy hour.

We ordered every happy hour item on the menu, few entrees, and their whole dessert menu (Calories don't count on the weekends).

Presentation was amazing along with a surprise of how great the food tasted. The miso roasted cauliflower and crispy Brussel sprouts stood out the most on flavor and texture for the happy hour menu. I ordered the halibut for my entree and everything on the plate was cooked and seasoned to perfection. Moving along to dessert, the menu looked standard as well, but they proved me wrong once again when the desserts arrived. Highlighting three desserts: the creme brulee was all about playing with different textures, the tropical dessert was so balanced and refreshing topped with cotton candy, and lastly the vietnamese coffee dessert cake was the BOMB complimented with black sesame icecream.

The service and food here exceeded my expectations and will definitely return for the vietnamese coffee cake.

Oh! May I also mention that beer pints are 20 ounces for $5-7 during happy hour? You're very welcome.

Showcase Restaurant and Bar is located inside the Marriott Hotel in Downtown Vancouver. It is on the main floor of the hotel to the left of the lobby. They are a casual dining restaurant serving delicious West Coast Cuisine. They also have a huge bar, which is great for hanging out with coworkers if you work around this area.

I came here for a private dining experience and the food was unique and creative. A few dishes I enjoyed were Seared duck breast, short ribs, and the potato soup. They sound pretty standard, but the presentation and the taste were outstanding.

I know it's a downtown Vancouver hotel, but even at that, this place's breakfast prices are just plain silly. Stayed here on business last week. The continental breakfast buffet is $24.....that's a lot for fruit, yogurt, and pastries. Service was good one day, but seriously lacking the next.

Very regular tasting foods but cost more than it should be. Some stars for the service, and the ambiance was good, but the food was really just a 3. I wouldn't say it was horrible but will not return again because the dishes were not too memorable and will not stir any cravings.

Excellent service, and great food. The signature butter chicken curry dish is delicious! Also the servers are friendly, and the bartender Hector is awesome! Go say hi

I had dinner at Showcase because I walk by it almost everyday and thought I should go in. I ordered the seafood pasta but with mushrooms instead of seafood. The sauce was a herb cream sauce and the pasta was extra large macaroni. My server told me that th

All Canadian Buffet - Simple yet very fulfilling. Located at Vancouver Marriott Pinnacle Downtown Hotel, this restaurant is actually perfect for a breakfast occasion where I would need to be with a guest or two. Very close to where I live nowadays and they serve buffet for breakfast! Real elaborated one at that. Any guest of yours, if he or she likes North American style breakfast, they will love the buffet here. Fairly busy in the morning due to the fact that it is a hotel restaurant, but the service staffs are doing one awesome job.

My favourite is of course All Canadian Buffet. Simple yet very fulfilling. And Chicken Apple Sausage and Cajun Prawn Hash are my go-to suggestions when I must. Just be cautious though, because the price per person can be add up to over $50 very fast. Welp, other that it's pretty great! (:p). Actually you can try another restaurant that is located on West Broadway, but genuinely I am not sure at this moment it still operates since I came back to town literally months ago. I shall find out soon enough.

The Showcase - a Downtown Gem!. I'm not the type to splurge on fancy dinners and whatnot, but after seeing the Groupon for the Showcase (1 appetizer, 2 entrees, 2 mini desserts) at a $37 value, I had to give it a shot! Took my boyfriend there for a special date, and we had a lovely, lovely time.

Upon entry, the place was empty aside from a couple people at the bar - made sense, it was only 5pm. Atmosphere was professional, sophisticated, and quiet - although OpenTable Reservations say the dresscode is casual, I'd recommend dressing semi-formal. The weird thing was that nobody came to greet us at the door, even though the lady working at the bar clearly turned and looked at us. Walked toward the front desk located in the middle of the restaurant, and it still took a few minutes before the lady at the bar came and asked if we had a reservation.

Soon, the hostess came and sat us, and the waitress came as well. Service was great from that point onward, they were attentive and had no problem answering any questions I had about the menu and how the Groupon worked. We were given "flatbread" to nibble on while waiting for our meal -- they were more like rectangular chips with mild Italian seasoning. Didn't feel like they were store-bought and quickly seasoned, so, not bad.

Appetizer: Korean Fried Chicken Lettuce Wraps. Oh my goodness, it was SO GOOD. Lettuce was crisp and fresh, the chicken had a thin layer of crispy goodness with a coating of sauce (didn't take away from the crunch at all) and the inside was tender and juicy. Along with the chicken came shredded tortilla chips and some fresh shredded vegetables (carrots, red cabbage, green onion, cucumber). The mild spice of the chicken went perfectly with the coolness of the vegetables, and the size of the dish was bigger than I'd imagined, perfect for sharing between two people. Plus, the chef himself came and served it to us. A very appreciated touch. Two thumbs up!

Entrees: we selected from the seasonal/modern menu, so you probably won't find these again (unless you go now!).

My boyfriend ordered the strip sirloin and bordelaise, which came with steamed vegetables, and mashed potatoes. He's rather picky about how his steak is done and hates having to send it back if it's even remotely pink (he likes it WELL done), but the Showcase nailed it. Perfect steak. Vegetables were simple (mushrooms, parsnips, asparagus) and beautifully seasoned, mashed potatoes were creamy. For a dish consisting of such simple ingredients, everything tasted beyond ordinary.

I ordered the sablefish, which came with a lobster claw, lobster foam, caramelized vegetables, and sweet potato puree. Never had sablefish before, but it hits the top ten favorite seafood items for me! Buttery, melts in your mouth, just the right amount of salt. I don't usually eat lobster, but I expected it to be just as decadent as the sablefish -- however, it was a bit chewy and just slightly overcooked. The foam and puree complimented the dish with their different textures, my favorite being the latter. All elements in one bite, a little bit of each on my fork, sealed the deal. Each flavor complimented the others perfectly.

Dessert: I had the mini creme brulee, and he had the chocolate bar with caramel crunch. Thankfully they were mini - the appy and entrees were surprisingly filling! It was just the right amount of sweetness to end the evening. The creme brulee was smooth and creamy, and the torched top had a good crunch to it. Slightly more of a burnt taste than I'd prefer (I had a creme-brulee obsession the year before, agonized over making the perfect caramelized top layer). The chocolate bar was cute, layers of chocolate and caramel with varying textures, and apparently the chocolate drizzle was out of this world (wouldn't know, he ate it all).

Total came up to roughly $80, but with the Groupon, literally everything we ordered was covered. This wasn't a "$40-off" thing, it was a "choose whatever you want, and no matter what, $40 will cover it". With tax, all I had to pay was $1.95. However, we tipped on the regular price - this place deserved it! All 3 courses were delicious, the wait wasn't long at all between items, servers were attentive (though probably because we didn't go during the lunch/dinner rush), ambiance was peaceful and romantic -- seriously, we had an awesome time.

My fiancé and I had a great night here. The ambiance was nice and the service was good, considering there was only one person handling all the tables. We had a 3 course meal and it was very good. We had better, but we would come back here for sure.

Disappointed. Would not go back to this establishment! We were a group of 8 using Travelzoo vouchers. They would not seat us on a 8 person table, only 4 at each table, but still considered us a group of 8 and charged us 18% gratuity! Service slow, bar ran out of wine glasses, food okey but steak not cooked as ordered, final bill incorrect and so on!
I Love Food
Went their tonight with my parents. Must say the service was excellent, all the way from the hostess, server, busboy and the chef came out himself and said Hi which was a very nice touch. Food was solid, had the tenderloin and halibut. The tuna capacio was very good.

Did not know about this place. Went to check it out from a groupon deal. We had salmon and steak. The steak was ok, but the fish was really good. The price was good for this type if setting. The servers were great, and we like that the manager actually comes around to see how your food was. This restaurant had earned a spot on our downtown food list.

Decent, overall. Great kitchen, but the restaurant itself is a 90's flashback. The steak was Fantastic. I'd go for drinks elsewhere, though.

The pan seared scallops and the tuna carpaccio with fresh green aioli + nori on the side rocked. the garlic butter mussels were deeelish, the halibut's not so great, the albacore tuna was perfection. overall the food's decent here but the dull decor reminds me of those bars u see at the vancouver airport...way too vanilla. definitely not diggin the decor & ambiance but i'll be back for the food.

Alright. Show case is a decent place for lunch as the selection is ok and the food is prepared with care. The service is also prompt and the atmosphere is upsale.

Breakfast Buffet. This was a pretty extensive buffet with a classic omelet station, selection of breakfast meats, Belgian waffles, breakfast potatoes, oatmeal, assorted cold cereals, fresh fruit, fresh pastries, etc. The à la carte menus have egg benedict, buttermilk pancakes and oatmeal. From what I have read of other reviews, I would recommend the breakfast buffet over their other offerings especially from a value standpoint.

BRUTAL. I went here for a friends birthday because her tradition is to go to a new restaurant every year for her birthday(not sure how and why she chose this place but wow was it a BAD idea). From the moment I stepped foot in the door I wanted to leave. Service? Slow and equivalent to nails on a chalkboard. Food? I had the linguine carbonara cause who could get that dish wrong right? WRONG it had no flavour the best part of it was the pancettta... I said to my girlfriend after i would have rather eaten a frozen michelinas.. The bills took about 20 minutes to come to the table.. then to even get the bills paid for that took another 20+ minutes... a 1 course meal took 3 hours... in my books that is RIDICULOUS!! i left unhappy and in a very bad mood... i wouldnt suggest this place to anyone who has ever gettin food not served in a pig slop bucket...

Ladies who Hash know when they’ve encountered a good hash. They have a fondness for potatoes that extends beyond the normal boundaries of what it is to enjoy plant tubers and when an encounter like this happens, it can be uncomfortable for everyone involved. These particular two Ladies who Hash had such an encounter when they visited Showcase Restaurant and Bar at the Vancouver Marriot Pinnacle for birthday brunch. I have a confession to make – a confession of the creepy variety. Every morning on my way to work, I peer through the windows into the bustling Showcase restaurant to see travellers and successful professionals dressed to the nines huddled over their fancy hotel meals laughing, meeting, and talking shop all to the tune of warm hearty breakfasts. Jealous adoration (also creepy) is probably the most apt description of this. My longing gaze always lingers at each of the diners a little too long for comfort – I know this because of the confused often startled looks I elicit

Touted as Canada’s largest food and drink festival, Dine Out Vancouver provides an opportunity to try some of Vancouver’s restaurants through special 3 course set menus. This year, we visit Showcase Restaurant and Bar and tried the $28 menu.

With the rainy (and windy) weather outside, it took zero time for me to decide that I wanted a soup and West Coast Chowder sounded perfect for my needs. I enjoyed the chowder and savoured the warmth and flavour of my soup.

The service was prompt and we started with a bottle of Kim Crawford Pinot Noir - there was NOTHING frugal about this bottle of wine, at $50. However, it was absolutely delicious. WINE NOTE: There are no bottles of wine on their limited wine list that are under $45. A little disappointing.

The Prime Rib, was thoroughly impressive. The rib was cooked just the way we love it medium rare, juice, succulent oh so good
