Review Hawksworth Restaurant - Vancouver

I’ve heard from a few friends that Hawksworth has gone downhill. They were right. I was so embarrassed I took my husband - who is a chef - for his birthday. I did mention it on my reservation. The food flavours were very simplified. Decent but not fine dining worthy. It is no longer what it used to be. Not sure if this was the intent for food. Customer service was bad. Mind you, everyone was friendly but our server did not know the menu and couldn’t tell us portions or flavours or ingredients. Informed us that she just started working which is fair, but not knowing the menu is a disappointment and perhaps shouldn’t be working solo if not ready. My husband had to explain the menu to my family since our server could not. It was quite busy for a Monday night - we understand. But coming to our table many times to check on us - which was great - but ignoring and leaving the empty plates in front of us for more than 10 minutes on our table while we wait for the second course was questionable. Many other servers standing around waiting on other tables but not clearing our plates. We’ve been to many other restaurants that are not fine dining have much better service than what we received at Hawksworth. We had much higher expectations as from our previous visit at Hawksworth 5 years ago. Perhaps we kept our standards too high. We don’t even know our server’s name since she didn’t introduce herself. We left Hawksworth with just a happy birthday from the host. Very unfortunate experience. I would not recommend to my friends.

I came again after almost 3 years for a lunch. The environment was great, not too busy and moderately quiet, good for a chating with you partner. The 3 courses lunch is excellent in quality, I can't believe it's an ordinary 3 courses portion with such an affordable price in a prestige hotel. The server lady is super nice, friendly and responsive. Nothing to complaint at all. Must visit again.

Great good, great service. Our main server was Erene and she was awesome! The company was wonderful! Food was filling. Ordered Ginger Buck for a drink - was good but way too bitter for my taste. A little syrup turned it over.

Visited Hawksworth for my anniversary. Servers were attentive and sweet all nigh. They even wrote us a card and provided a little celebration drink on the house. The food was top notch, packed with nutrient-dense seasonal creations. Portions were perfect. Ambiance was dim and romantic, with light music. Price was up there, but it’s worth it for a celebration once in a while. I’ll definitely be visiting here again.

Incredible experience! The staff were lovely, service was incredible. The food was delicious and looked visually amazing as well. I would recommend saving room for dessert too. They have a nice selection of beautiful desserts that are stunningly beautiful

A great fine dining experience in Downtown Vancouver. Food is made with great care and quality and although the portions appear small, it is still very filling and has great plating. Cost will be pricy, as can be expected. Definitely an exciting dining experience and Hawksworth is definitely worth a visit.

Food is okay, everything is way overpriced compare to other places. We Sat in lounge which wouldn't recommend if you going for a date, the dining area is fancier. The oysters and lamb shank were ok, cost 4 each, but same as happy hour Oyster u can get at other places. Besides service is bad, took us three times to order the food 🤷🏻‍♀️ For a hundred dollar each person, I expected better than this.

Came here for lunch based on the good reviews and having seen them on a few top lists of restaurants to try in Vancouver. I enjoyed my meal but I know my husband didn't enjoy it as much. We got the KFC and the crispy cod starters and I got the lobster roll and Earl Grey panna cotta for dessert while my husband got the prix fixe menu that had a cucumber salad, char siu chow mein and mandarin orange creme for dessert. Of course all the food was presented and plated beautifully. The KFC was so good! I really enjoyed that. The cauliflower is so lightly but evenly fried and has just enough spice in it. The crispy cod wasn't that great. Probably wouldn't order it again. My lobster roll had the softest milk bread with big chunks of lobster. Although I think they could have used just a bit less mayo for it. I also really enjoyed my pana cotta. There were so many different textures and the different flavors of the lemon chocolate, the early grey, and the caramelized pistachios all complemented each other so well. My husband's chow mein was way too saucy for a chow mein and also too salty. The char siu was good but more sausage like than a true char siu. And the cucumber salad can only be so dressed up. Service was not as good as I expected it would be based on reviews. Pricing is high but that was expected. Overall, probably wouldn't return. Reviews were overhyped.
