Review Cactus Club Cafe Bentall 5 - Vancouver

Would have been nice to start with warm bread with dipping oil while waiting for the food. My Moscow mule tasted very light a bit more ginger would have help. The server was attentive. Food was good. We ordered the dessert, and they wrote down happy birthday on the side.

Classic cactus service and food, you can’t really go wrong at a cactus. We had reservations for 9pm but we decided to see if they could seat us earlier and they were able to accommodate us at their heated patio. Very much appreciated that. Their patio is also the perfect people watching spot. We ordered from their dine out menu which in my opinion is one of the best bang for your buck option. I had crispy prawn roll to start, creole chicken as my main and the apple tart for dessert. The Mr. had the butternut ravioli to start the steak for his main and cheesecake for dessert. It was all very tasty. I also ordered the Tokyo spritz to drink and the description of the drink and how I imagined it was definitely better than how it actually tasted. It wasn’t bad but I won’t be necessarily be ordering it again.

It was a Lovely Blessed Easter Sunday lunch. The reservation process was painless by far from other 3 Cactus locations I had encountered on the phone (they were unfriendly & difficult....not customer oriented). The service & food were Good & applauded to my waitress; Jenna, who was patience with my family of 12 :)

Love the drinks and food! 🥂 The new Frosé drink is AMAZING! Make sure to order the Large size cause its much more worth but not as pretty as the standard. Also the ceviche dish was really tasty and refreshing! It's such a fun and sharable dish 😋

Very nice place, even to sit on the heated patio was nice. It’s super central, easy to get to, no wait time no line ups… and delicious food! Can’t wait to come back! Cactus club never disappoints 👍🏻👍🏻 two thumbs up! Great job!

We went at noon on a Saturday, and were able to be seated right away (3 adults). We had a stroller with us, and was seated in a roomy table where we could have the stroller parked right next to us. The servers were super friendly, and our food came out in a timely manner. The food was delicious, and plentiful.

Delicious food and cocktails. I updated my previous review with more pictures from my second visit. It was so good I went back for more almost immediately 😃

I had best dinner Cactus club cafe with my family! This restaurant in a beautiful building with vaulted, glass walls and a central location. It has great atmosphere too.Although it is a little pricey, the food was excellent.Service was also excellent and professional. Because we were first there, she gave us suggestions. She made food sound so appetizing. The meals were really delicious. Grilled Dijon Salmon was my favorite meal and my father ordered a steak which was really awesome! We also loved their cocktails and choices beer. My family and I really enjoyed this dinner in Vancouver. I highly recommend this restaurant. I am sure that I will come back again and again.

Our entire experience was fabulous from start to finish! The atmosphere was electric, the cocktails were delicious, and our dishes were absolutely amazing. Our server Lynda was so wonderful. This was our first time at Cactus Club (and in Vancouver - we are from North Carolina) and she was so friendly and welcoming. She recommended the Caesar drinks (to die for!!) and provided recommendations for dishes. We couldn't have been more satisfied with the truffle fries, chicken lettuce wraps, and ceviche. YUM! We are only here for 5 days but will absolutely be back for another meal! Five stars.

We had the Butternut Ravioli and Pranes for an appetizer. A must get for app or meal. I had the 4 Mushroom Steak. Wow. What a great light sauce and the mushroom melody was superb. Cant say enough good about this meal.

Cactus Club was a good option for dine out. The service was good, the server was polite and friendly and she was close to helped us whenever we needed. The burgers that we ordered were quietly enough and delicious and the meat was well cooked. Talking about the drinks, we got to the restaurant during the happy our so we could get drinks for a very razonable price. The environment of the place is casual but romantic. Cactus club is the best option to hangout with your love ones.

Terrible terrible service. They sat three people at a tiny half table. We called for a waiter maybe 5 times before one came. When they were igniting things, I almost got burnt 3 times and the waiter didn’t seem to care at all. Their seafood is outrageously bad, and their good is either under seasoned or overly salty. I don’t know why there were so many people there.

Cactus club is the best place to dine in weekend and special occasions, this location has wonderful atmosphere, the food is always delicious regardless of the location, the staffs were always friendly and professional, I recommend this restaurant:)

Our favourite burger place in Vancouver! The burger is by far the best in our opinion.

Other than that, we enjoy coming to this place for a social event or happy hour afternoon, since the place offers a great atmosphere for that type of activities!

Apologies to my readers for the less than timely blog posts this month! Sometimes real life just catches up, and there isn’t a whole lot I can do about it. It’s not that I have stopped eating out – in fact I’m eating out almost every day, I just don’t have the patience to photograph my food before eating (because by the time I eat I’m next level hangry these days).

Before I started this blog, my mom had a not so great experience at Cactus Club. They sent her a gift card after they heard about it. So she took my sister and I to the Cactus Club Cafe Burrard St to give them another try. The building is really nice and very clean, along with everything else. Some back story on Cactus Club: Cactus Club is a chain restaurant limited to B.C and originated in North Vancouver B.C. Personally, I feel they are a casual restaurant with the prices to portions.

I love the Cactus Club and I usually have a great time regardless of the location.

Seeing as how this is in Coal Harbour, I was mostly looking forward to the view, which of course was amazing.

The service was surprisingly so-so at this location. The food was of course up to par with what you would expect for a cactus club.

We had the meatballs and ravioli to start. The meatballs were waaaaay too salty, and I like salt so for the others it was close to inedible. We all really liked the ravioli though.

Main courses included the delicious sablefish, Feenie burger and lamb. Overall a great dinner!

Had the veggie burger here and it was not too bad. Definitely some care went into it, and it wasn't as slapdash as some other veggie burgers.

Beautiful view from this restaurant - very scenic. Food choices range from normal to fancy. I ordered the roasted butternut squash with prawns --- absolutely delicious. The truffle butter paired very well with the crispy sage. The portion size comparative to my other three friend's main entrees was rather small. I was left a little hungry after this dish - so it may be wise to order a small plate or have dessert subsequently. Service was rather non-attentive at times. I also had the Negroni - which was mixed quite well.

Went there for dinner on Tuesday night! We had to wait around 30 min for table but it was worth it! Beautiful view from the restaurant, good service and amazing food! We ordered chicken quesadillas, spicy chicken and fish with rice!

We went in a group of 5 to the Cactus Club Cafe at Coal Harbour around lunch time. The service we received was not quite what we were expecting. The hostess was nice and friendly, she escorted us to the table and introduced to our server for the day. The server introduced herself and did not smile or look friendly. Moreover, she was not approachable and did not seem interested in having a conversation with us. Upon ordering food one of us asked questions about the menu as it was her first time going to Cactus and the server seemed rude and did not answer questions in a friendly tone. The food was approximately 20-25 minutes late. The food was filling and the price was reasonable. The ambience was pretty satisfying and rich with view of nature. The washrooms got us disappointed because they had no signs to show the way to the washroom, so we asked one of the chefs that came out of the kitchen "Where the washroom is " and apparently all this time it was near the kitchen with big flights of stairs, as the washroom is hidden in the corner, overall the bathroom is top notch clean. The chefs in the kitchen and the assistant chef uses the right ingredients for their course meal, they are well maintained and organized. Even during rush hour they seemed calm and stable. We recommend to visit for an experience and avoid going during lunch as it is their rush hour.

Great ambience. Option of sitting indoors or outdoors. Super friendly staff. And the food is excellent. Didn't have the opportunity to try drinks though. Definitely recommended.

Well, the food is good here. You get to choose from a variety of dishes. There are some Asian fusion dishes, and there are some Cajun inspired dishes. However, rush hour service was lacklustre. The place is always fully packed during lunch time, which means expect to wait a long time to get a table, and once you're seated, expect to wait a long time to get food. Typically, if you're in a small group of four or less, you'll probably get better service. If this fits you, then go ahead and come here for lunch. But if you're in a larger group, I would say avoid this place during rush hour, and go elsewhere.

Great vibes day or night with beautiful view of Coal Harbour from the window seat. Relaxed and casual atmosphere for dining and drinking, good place with friends or groups. Our servers were friendly and smiling. I usually order their burgers or Raincoast Greens Salad. Have a bellini or sangria, they are always good!
Callee Cook
I love cactus club. The ravioli with prawns and truffle butter there is incredible (I'm obsessed). Our waitress was super friendly and was great at offering advice for different meals. Meals also ordered were the prawn spaghettini, miso soy glaze salmon and the fish tacos.

Two of us had the prawn ravioli and just thought it was incredible. You definitely need to enjoy truffle butter flavours though, because the flavours are very rich. I absolutely love it though.

The soy salmon was pretty good, could have been more flavourful but would still recommend 7/10

The prawn spaghettini was okay, could have been saucier and the toast was gross. Prawns were well cooked 7/10

Fish tacos were delish, the fish was moist and well cooked, would recommend. Nom nom nom.

Flirtini was delish, top rated drink.

We tried them all but the ones that stood out were the sangria and the honeydew

Cool atmosphere.

Also, when we got there we were told that we would have to wait for a long time to get our food due to two large parties that had just arrived. However, we did not end up waiting long at all. Overall awesome experience, would recommend.

Very surprised about the 2 items we ordered yesterday night. The Ceviche did not have whole prawns or steelhead. It should be stated as "Minced" prawns & steelhead. The corn chips along side were too big for the minimal amount given & should be charging half the price. Not $15. We would've liked to see the $15 worth of the dish.

Bengal Chicken Curry at the price of $17-3/4 was even more hilarious! Ah where is the rest of the basmati rice for my minced of chicken pieces in the curry sauce. This is a main entree people....not appetizers.

Why are all the SEAFOOD & CHICKEN minced. It's not like you are a hotel serving fine dining cuisine!!! Our money is probably better spent coming in for coffee & dessert instead. For Real Food even Rouge offers better food quality!

I was pretty disappointed with my time here at the Cactus Club. Came for an early dinner with my boyfriend and ordered the Thai Wings, Quesadilla, and Short Rib sandwich. The wings were REALLY DRIED. The flavours on it was good but it overcooked it. The most disappointing part was my short rib sandwich. They added on a weird dijon sauce that was not on the menu and it made the sandwich taste bad. I used to always get this sandwich and advise the chefs to stick with the ingredients of the original recipe. Last but not least, these guys charged me TWICE on my card. I left my card for my boyfriend to pay while I went to the washroom. From working in restaurants, after closing a bill, the POS should indicate that. However, once I got back to the table, my boyfriend left to go to the washroom and a lady came up with the machine and charged me. I got home just to find out about this and is very very disappointed with their lack of communication. Their lack of professionalism will not bring me back there ever again. I have to go through the trouble of fixing this problem that should never have occurred in the first place. TIP: make sure to ask the server what ingredients are a part of the meal you're getting in case a weird ingredient sneaks up on you.Make sure to always ensure that you are not paying TWICE

Working in the Bentall 5 office tower The Urban Dweller has always had the luxury of a great view of the north shore mountains. However, recently I’ve had the luxury of staring at all the lovely women that “prostitute” themselves at the new $6.5 million C

...very tasty and perfectly cooked spaghettini, exactly as remembered from previous visits; generous amt of fresh prawns to boot; crostini not too hard, generously doused in butter :D...

Good atmosphere same old food.. I have been going like most for years and I could be wrong but I don't remember the last menu change. Nothing overly exciting on it. Good finger food, beer/wine list and the atmosphere is great but they need something new other than more locations.

Will go with friends but not a first choice.

Valentine's Day. No reservation and we were sat within 30 minutes of arriving. Justine was our waitress and knocked our socks off!! She was genuinely kind and took time to explain the menu. Honey had Millionaires steak and I tried out the butternut squash ravioli. To die for. We'll be back for the ravioli and sangria. Deeeeee-lish!! Thanks!!
Natalie
The food was good but the goth-wannabe waitress was astonishingly rude. We probably would have stayed and spent a lot more money there but she put us off to the point of leaving. The place will be better when Miss Bad Attitude gets fired as, no doubt, she eventually will.
Emily
This place couldn't be more disgusting if it tried. Almost $200 for 4 drinks, 2 dishes, and an appetizer. The apps and drinks were good. My dish and my husbands dish were as bland as could be. It looked pretty and the presentation was great but the food tasted absolutely awful. Stay away. This place is nothing more than a tourist trap.

Very good. Food was very tasty and fresh. The staff was super! Great service and attention

Niceeeee!. I liked their food and their service. The girls were hot! yesssss! I'll come again.

Thumbs Up. Great food & service. ran into chad cougar here once. definitely made my night!

Favorite location. One of my best girlfriends works in the neighbourhood so i would often meet her after work for drinks and dinner and we absolutely love this location. The servers are great! Very attentive and friendly. Their food is great too & i absolutely love the drinks. The brazilian and sangria are my absolute favourite!

Nice place :) great cocktails!

The best. Friendly staff, unreal location and perfect view (inside and out). I had the nachos and it really was a large, fulfilling portion.

Beers were slightly overpriced but again location is key so I assume it's comparable. We drive from work and it is a great atmo.

Great place to go after work with friends. The women here are highly outstanding and my wife is blonde.

Great food, cute waiters. Cactus club has always been my go-to restaurant on night outs and i never get disappointed. food is fantastic. some of the appetizers vary between each restaurant, but the entrees usually stay the same. my favourite is the shrimp and scallop linguini. the portion is actually quite large, and it doesn't take very much to make me full, so i usually pack it up and it still tastes great after i heat it back up. its always very packed and alive every time i go, and yet the waiters are always there making sure things are okay. 5 stars.
Super Guy
Cute short skirts. This place is awesome. The staff is friendly and the food is excellent. I work in area and it isn't exactly the easiest place to find healthy and fresh food when eating out. Since they have such beautiful women it has become my go to spot.
Spaghettiandmeatballz
Yawn, big box restaurant on grand scale.

Above average. Food is good. Prices are high. Servers are nice to look at. Overall an above average place for business lunch.

It was great!. Had dinner there last night, and everything was great. Our waitress was sooo good, and the food was amazing. Make sure to get the chocolate lava ice cream cake, it's the truth!

Amazing!. Cactus Club never lets me down with their quality and service! love it!! =)

This place was one of the worst experiences in my life. Food was OVERPRICED & service was SLOW LIKE A SNAIL. An ordinary burger for $16 after taxes?! By the way, train your servers properly!

Good food, ambiance, crowd. Food was good. Had tuna tataki and chicken pesto quesidilla. Drinks were ok. Girlfriend had margarita that was too sweet and not strong at all but the weak cocktails seem common in Vancouver (hope I'm wrong). Mine was weak but the beer was good and local. Side note: there was so much eye candy I almost got a cavity!!!! all in all I would go back there for sure.

Consistently good. What's not to like? This is a great concept, consistent, good quality. Chef Rob Feenie does a wonderful job with the menu, superb staff and well trained. Kudos to Cactus, job well done time and time again!

Cute Little Hamburger. Had lunch with 2 friends. Seated at the heated Patio. Ordered Hamburger, and Mini Burger, Ribs and Tuna appetizer. Ribs was too sweet. Have to comeback for the Mini Burger. Service:3 and a half star out of 5. Always expected to have the same if not better service than the next table..

Perfect Spot. Near the financial pulse of Vancouver. Distinctive open architecture. Delicious food (great salad and burger) and reasonably priced wines and beer (although the selection could be larger). Second restaurant in a week I dine at that has goooorgeous tall ladies working. Great service. Certainly tipped 20% or so because if they are trying I will reciprocate.
John Paul
Near perfect. Desserts, wines, salads and those world class girls and long blonde hair (even on the hostess). WOW. Will come back to this location every chance I get. No wife. Yes sunglasses.
New World Man
Hot Spot. One of my friends told me that we should go here since the restaurant has the hottest crowd of all restaurants in town. To be honest, I never went to this location before, even I knew of the location. It's just not a corner of my house and there are closer branches to me. Well, he was right, but it wasn't just the crowd. It was the staff that were the hottest. Hotter than the food which was so good. The really unique thing about this location is the setting. You feel like having your meal in an exotic green house.
Our meals were prepared to perfection and we enjoyed our visit and will certainly come back.
Starters are $7 - $12 and Mains $18 - $28 and wine is not expensive. Where do they find these blondies?
Jwc4
Great Atmosphere!. Everything about my experience was great. Excellent food, service, and an overall great vibe!
Frank M
Excellent (i.e. consistent). I really hope they dont get conservative and lose their edge. Dont get me wrong I love the food, I love the wine and I love the modern decor (and the toilets) but those girls. Where do they find them?? You cant find them anywhere on the street thats for sure. blond girls in a mini skirt rock my life and I am married and take a date here once in a while.
Perfect service, cool place, private booths, red wine. oohhh yyyeeahhhh
Phil
You can do better. The employees are uniformly gorgeous. The food, alas, is not.

For the same price, you could be eating in so many great local Vancouver restaurants. So why pick this one?

Long on attitude, short on substance.. My two forty-something year old pals and myself stopped by the now not-so-new downtown Cactus Club for dinner last night. We easily got a table on the patio (at 5 pm on a dry Thursday night), which tells me the popularity of this location must now have crested. The service was great, the patio and design of the room are lovely, but the food was extremely ordinary - truly the same old cookie-cutter Cactus Club fare. When all was said and done, my burger, yam fries and soda and cranberry (x 2) came to $29 (including a reasonably generous tip), and my pals and I spent the last ten minutes of our visit discussing where ELSE we might get together in the neighbourhood next time. I can't really recommend this location for anything other than a quick after work drink.
Black Sheep
The best place to get a bite after work, before going out or just having a drink with someone you just met. Service and atmosphere is great, prices are good and desserts are fantastic
Masked4areason
Solid and mildly inspired. We were originally going to Joey's to chekc out the local talent but as we were warned it would be busy it was. The receptionist and staff there were very helpful but we moved across the street to the vast Cactus Club on Burrard.

When I arrived my colleagues had already sat down and it was Friday of the long Vic weekend.

We all pondered what to eat as the menu is quite long. The Lunch menu is quite confusing as it is seperate sheet and then you look at the proper menu and all the lunch suggestions are starters.. a little odd.

We all had three mains - chicken pesto quesadillas with yam fries, my cafun fish taco and teriyaki chicken rice bowl. It was all enojyed and went down well.

I asked for my Cajun taco not to be drowned in Cajun spcies - the great cheat for faster food - and it was good if a little small peices of halibut well cooked and for what it was a bit expensive.

The other portions looked more generous but were more expensive.

I enjoyed the very fresh salsa dip that came with the tacos.

The service was good despite it being full.

The washrooms are very London I looked the lifesize screen outside.. very good.

The upstairs seating area lookslike hell for waiting staff I caught one walking up the stairs... quite a climb.

Upscale for teenagers. Low end patrons meet high-end burger prices!

Good Chain Eats. One of my favourite chains. I love the JD Burger with a tossed green salad and a PG martini.

One more burger spot down. Went to Cactus Club or as some people call it cock tease club to try the Feenies Burger. Its not a cheap burger thats for sure. 14 dollars gets you a burger with the fixins including tomato, lettuce, pickle, Cheddar, mushrooms, bacon, red pepper and a side of fries.

The burger is tasty, the meat has a great flavour to it and all the fixins make for a nice handful of fun. I rather order my toppings "a la carte" but I would have ordered two of those toppings anyways. None of the toppings really stood out on their own but the burger was a tasty eat. As far as rankings, I still feel Moderne has the best. Still a few more to try. I am going to have to start biking to these places so I don't get fat.

pics on Vancouverslop.com

An Experience Both New and the Same. This new downtown addition to the Cactus Club family has many impressive elements showcased in the Bentall Centre. The architecture is distinctive and inviting, with plenty of glass; including windows into the kitchen proper from outside. That said, it is typically extremely busy; the several times I've gone, the wait has sometimes been quite long, though waiting in the courtyard on a sunny day with friends is quite sufferable.

The menu is standard for Cactus Club, but when having a steak it was perfectly cooked and served, while an afternoon sandwich over beers was quick and delicious. It is advisable to sit outside if possible, as the dining room is extremely loud and noisy. Fortunately, despite the glass frontage, the restaurant has blinds to deploy as necessary.

Otherwise, this new addition is much of the same. The service is mixed, the food is well-prepared but thoroughly rehearsed, and the ambiance can be jarring. That said, the location is fantastic and convenient, the architecture and decor are fresh, and this is a welcomed alternative to the more posh steakhouses of Alberni Street or the nearby Keg Caesars, without having to venture across Robson Street.

Being familiar with Cactus Club fare, the food is inspired and influenced from cuisines across the world. Located in the heart of downtown beside Bentall 5, this Cactus location is dubbed as their flagship. Walking in, the restaurant presents a vibrant and lively ambiance, with lounge and current music playing.
Lopan Eats
Cactus Club is basically the most mediocre of all chains and by that Lo Pan means that it is the best chain. It provides great cushiony comfort and private booths that allow for Lo Pan to only minimally have to lay his godly eyes on the mere mortals that fill the place up night after night. Cactus Club is indeed a massive success, but Lo Pan has never found any of the food much beyond mediocrity. If memory serves him well, the past occasions have given Lo Pan a laughably bad “jambalaya”, a dry boring short rib sandwich, an even drier Peking duck clubhouse sandwich, a pretty good tuna burger and a lot of mushy yam fries.

We decided to grab dinner at Cactus Club last week after shopping down Robson. I’d only been to the one in Richmond and the ambiance is quite different than this one downtown. The waitresses were just as friendly though, and our server looked a lot like Jamie Chung. My friend and I shared a tuna tataki by the server’s recommendation. It was really fresh and light, perfect for summer. tuna tataki – lseared ocean wise™ albacore, papaya slaw, pine nuts, yuzu vinaigrette. crispy yam fries – with garlic aioli Anyone who has eaten with me at least twice knows that yam fries are a must-order. These were piping hot and a really good appy to share butternut squash prawn ravioli – artisan made butternut squash and mascarpone ravioli, sautéed jumbo prawns, truffle butter sauce, pine nuts. The ravioli was really delicious the first two bites, but I got really full after that because it was quite oily. It’s not a bad choice though and it’s worth a try. Jimmy won’t stop playing Chinese songs in

I enjoyed good company and nostalgic conversation at a rather noisy Cactus Club on Burrard. I don't usually choose to eat at chain restaurants, probably because quality control of the same menu items is not guaranteed at all the locations. I was pleasantly surprised with what I ordered thinking that it was just a Tuna Club with fries.

...the meat was quite tender, and the bread added a distinct tang of sweetness. I typically enjoy my duck in Beijing, but this is another great use of it, too.

...this is a great hang out place with your buddies or a girls night out. Their menu was extensive and impressive.

I ordered the BBQ Duck Clubhouse sandwich which I thought was very delicious. The sandwich has the titular barbeque duck, chicken breast, fancy, thin back bacon, all on fruit bread.

Ah...the lazy days of summer. My bff was downtown celebrating a good friend's birthday. I found out and decided to crash it, since I work close by. I was joined by another good friend too...yay, more mouths means more food choices

Cactus Club on Burrard, I had no idea they even opened on up there, and from the outside, you can barely tell there's a restaurant there. This location is pretty big, lot's of open spaces and two floors. The decor is all very new and very Gucci. I always

The first time I tried to go to the "new" Cactus Club on Burrard and Pender, we got there too late after a comedy show at Yuk Yuk's and we ended up going somewhere else. What a pity, we thought - it had such a good location, with a nice large patio! So on
