Review Meet On Main - Vancouver

axb
Meet on Main will be one of the most interesting and savoury restaurants you will ever go to, the menu is 100% vegan, most options gluten free. And the service is incredible, the waiter we had was very nice and accommodating. My favourite food from Meet is the Mighty Mac burger, but I’ve also eaten many other dishes, and they’ve been immaculate. The Mighty Mac burger is savoury, the MacnCheese provides a creamy and cheesy middle tone, while the patty provided a rich and savoury undertone. It was also topped with a few pickled jalapeños, which made the dish even better. This really is the best restaurant I have ever eaten at. Their drinks are also on par with the amazing food. I ordered the iced orange pekoe tea and they gave me a glass decorated with a dried orange (which you could eat and it would compliment the flavour of the tea). And some mint, which made it look very appetizing and refreshing. Their starters are also the best, I got the cauliflower bites and they were rich with flavour, but not too filling. Their serving sizes are also spectacular, with the burgers you can choose for only a salad or a salad with fries, I chose the salad with fries and it was the perfect amount of food. Not to mention they have the best salads here, whoever makes them needs a raise. The food is surprisingly cheap for the amazing quality of food that they serve. Meet On Main is my favourite restaurant to go to by far, I love it so much and would eat it daily if it weren’t for it being so far away.

I ordered the mucho gusto burger which I found to be decent. The portion size was large and came with a good serving of fries. Their cocktails are severely underrated. I wish I knew the names of what we ordered but every single one tasted incredible.

Takeout order was not hot, and order was incorrect, cheese was not melted, and I thought it was rice 😊🤗,of course we didn't know until we got home. And I was over charged due to the mixed up in the order... If i try again, might need more time to dine in ..to see if any difference...update...I did go back 3 days later, take out again, and everything was great...I like the vibe there, there sidewalk seating, and the wizard of oz. Was playing on a little TV. Very cozy

Came here yesterday and was welcomed by a lovely lady from fount of house. Very helpful, bright, upbeat and kind. Grabbed a cauliflower and mac cheese burger? Got it to go and it was still good. The vibe was real nice even just ordering take out.. here's some photos. If I'm in the area I'll swing by again

Ah-mazing food here and great atmosphere and service!! Highly recommend! So happy we came into MeeT on Main. We ordered the oyster mushroom kalamari, poutine and ginger beefless bowl. Portions are great! I also tried the elderflower spritzer which was very good! We sat at the bar until a table was ready. Had fun looking at all the old vhs tapes they have displayed at the bar.

A place I would never recommend if you like the original taste of healthy food. A salad has never felt so unhealthy. I ordered Kalamari Ceaser, yes the fried stuff tastes delicious but you can never taste mushrooms, they are totally like chips. I still feel nauseous the next day from either the frying oil or the sauce. On the other hand, if you're going for the ambiance, the vice is nice.

This is a wonderful discovery we made while looking for dinner in the South Main area of Vancouver. The menu has some interesting items and they point out ingredient details about gluten and tree nuts in their dishes. We had The Crispy BBQ Burger and the Beet Salad. Solid choices, delicious. We will keep this place in mind when we are back in this area.

Good selection of vegan food. The bowls are flavorful and filling. Definitely get the poutine and the beefless ginger bowl. The macaroni and cheese was okay but not something I would recommend. Lots of indoor and outdoor seating. Parking is difficult around this location. Also staff were slow to check in on us.

This was the first time we'd been to Meet since we live out in the valley in Chilliwack. It will definitely be the 'go to' eating place for us now when we come into Vancouver. The food was absolutely delicious and they were even able to easily accommodate for all the food allergies my daughter has so we could both enjoy the fabulous food. The food was fresh, bursting with flavor and plentiful. Average prices. Decor was great; friendly, casual, accommodated 2 baby strollers for another group while we were there. It was VERY busy inside the cafe so was a bit on the noisy side though, but shows how popular Meet is. Highly recommend.

Finally went here for lunch with my husband (who is not vegan) yesterday (Friday April 6). We were greeted and seated quickly by friendly staff and the service was great! We didn't have to wait too long for our food which was a good thing because we were hungry!!! I had the meet burger, hubby had the Seoul bowl, and we started with the sweet chili cauliflower. OMG everything was so delicious!! My husband loved the food and was very impressed!! The fries were the best, so yummy and crispy!! We will definitely be back and next time we'll bring our friends too!!! This is definitely a high recommendation on my list for everyone whether you are vegan or not!!!

I knew this place was 100% vegan, which is AWESOME I'm vegan myself, and it was my first time here, but I'd previously had other friends rave about this place! Our server was attentive, delightful, friendly and helpful. Our meals, (we both had The Lovely! ), was served in a very timely manner, we were asked how our meals were, and brought big glasses of water right away. I'll be back here again & again. Want to try everything on the menu!! Delicious!! 5/5 stars!!

The food is AMAZING! Great family friendly space and decent price point. Only thing I would change is the customer service. Our waitress was not great, not friendly and lazy. Would definitely go back to try again tho!

This place was amazing!! The food was fantastic. I took my son and husband who were sceptical at first, but after trying the vegan burger and poutine they were blown away. Also loved the atmosphere!! Oh and the lemon tart was sooooo good. Definitely coming back!!!

Our first time here, food was excellent, cashew gravy is to die for! The staff are genuinely friendly and welcoming, can't wait to come back. If you are planning on doing lunch on a Saturday come early, we got here about 11:40, by 12:10 the place was packed.

Wow. Your double double burger blew my mind and the oyster mushroom kalamari is some sort of amazing witchcraft.
Julia Veronski
The poutine is scrumptious. The burger was okay, I’m not a huge fan of processed veggie or soy products. Our server engaged in conversation of how and why we became vegan. Wonderful staff. Always order poutine you will forever grateful.
Anne-Marie De La Giroday
We had an awesome first experience! The food was truly fantastic and our server was amazing. He made some excellent recommendations and even went the extra mile to look up an ingredient in one of the desserts. I will definitely be back!

Love so much I ate here two days in a row There Mac n cheese omgeeee so Delish The beyond meet burger is a must try to all the veggie burger doubters out there. Better yet put some mac n cheese on it. Oh n the desserts have me up at night thinking about the next time I'm going to go back

First time eating at a vegan restaurant. Being allergic to dairy I was happy to have “poutine”! Let me say this place did not disappoint. Hubby was skeptical and LOVED it. Will definitely come back next time we visit!

Are you interested in good food without sacrificing the lives of animals? Are you interested in great service in a funky atmosphere? Well here is the place for you to have a delicious meal knowing an animal has not suffered to provide your enjoyment.

I went to Meet with my wife and daughter both of whom are Vegan. It was supposed to be a treat for my daughter on her birthday. It turned out to be a treat for this carnivore also. The meal and desert were fantastic...I will definitely be going back

As a vegetarian, it can be hard finding well seasoned veggie dishes- Meet on Main DELIVERS! Great tasting food, good vibes, friendly staff and they have 'buch' on their drink menu!

I ordered the double coconut and another type of vegan bacon burger but I skipped the quest and got bbq sauce instead yummy fries loved it. it was so good and I am not a vegan we also shared a Kale Caeser so yummy the torrential rain sucked but we didn't let it ruin our even now back home to finish decorating the tree Hohoho I'm finally in the mood to decorate

Definitely try the cauliflower appetizer. Yummy. The Macaroni on the burger wit jalapeño was awesome. And have a ginger beer too.

I had The Seoul bowl and it was great. I am not a vegetarian or vegan (not even close) but I thought it was delicious. My second time and I can’t wait until I go back again so I can try something else. Try the cronut it is wonderful.
Ruth Cathcart
Loved this place! All vegan - but would please a meat eater. Menu has everything you could want and the burgers come with fries and salad. Service was great within a busy but workable space. Definitely worth a stop in 🙂

*Meet in Yaletown*

Such a spacious and pleasant space to eat your lunch. Their menu contains fractions, which I thought was very interesting. It's amazing vegan food- great for catch ups etc. I ordered "The Lovely", which had vegetarian bacon in it- a different taste, but still nice all the while. I really enjoyed whatever sauce they used in their dish as well. The only problem I'd have with this place is that the portion size is a little small. Otherwise, vegan or not, definitely try this place out!

This is definitely comparable to MeeT in Gastown. They both offer the same things on their menus, but I do think that the overall ambiance of the MeeT in Gastown is better as I felt that the MeeT on Main was a bit too crowded. But overall, the taste and quality were the same.

It's Canada Day (and also my birthday) so my friends are celebrating with me...with food of course. We were here at 6pm and quickly got a small table for 3 people. My 2 friends ordered the brown rice bowls while I got The Meet burger (all burgers come with both fries and salad). My friend's Kimchi bowl kind of reminded me of the Korean rice dish Bibimbap. My veggie burger came with Kaiser roll however I found they were a bit dry so I decided to eat the patty and toppings only. Meh it's a veggie patty so I wouldn't expect too much. If I do come back again I'll probably order their rice bowl instead.

This review is actually for the Meet restaurant in Yaletown but it seems they don’t yet have a page. I had a delicious portobello mushroom burger which was filling and satisfying to my tastebuds. Would definitely order and eat here again!

Location : Either 25 Brentwood to Main Street or 3 Downtown to 25th ave (transit in Vancouver )

Ambience : very busy place . Servers are welcoming.

Food: Its a vegan place guys ... Both Vegan n Non-Vegan guys can enjoy their cheat day burgers with fries n salad n dip...... They serve huge burgers with patty that mimic meat , cheese n all of non- vegan stuffs !

With the portion size they serve, price is okay-ish.
I really enjoyed the food! I'm not vegan but the crispy BBQ burger is one of the best burgers I have ever had! We tried a few different fries and salads and enjoyed everything we had. The Service was quick and friendly, nothing to complain about! The only problem I have with Meet on Main is that the drinks are a bit pricy. $9.50 for a bridge brewing saison, which was "on special" is outrageous. It is above the average price point for a beer and not worth it!
But over all I really enjoyed it and will most definitely return for food!

Food was honestly alright, yet I wish i knew it was a vegan place before getting in. Was gladly surprise of that feta cheese, the teem poutine was quite descent.

Our server was zero friendly I don't think I saw her smile not even once, we had to ask other servers to give us water; our server didn't care to go by and ask "how's your food" but until we were almost done.

We didn't felt welcomed and actually had a little passive aggressiveness feeling from the whole interaction. So will most likely never go back nor recommend it and it's such a shame that one place and one person gives such bad reputation to such a beautiful way of living that is loving nature and taking care of yourself.

I found this place online and it seemed to have great reviews, so I suggested it to Avocado!I called to make a reservation but unfortunately was told that they don’t accept reservations. I waited about 15 minutes and took the time to read over the menu options, which was perfect as Avocado had just arrived.Mac n’ cheese, $10.75: I haven’t had the regular version of this dish for so long because it’s dairy death. But this one is vegan so yay!

Went here with some of my friends. And boy it's great. This is a completely vegetarian place with amazing food. Try out the different varieties. I actually forgot what exactly we ordered since this was more than a month ago but the fried cabbage dish was great. So were the nachos.

Food - 4/5
Service - 4/5
Ambiance - 4.5/5
Value for money - 3.5/5

Recommended place. Do visit.

This one is for those too timid to try a new vegetarian restaurant. If you are like me, you fear that any vegetarian meal won’t satisfy, that you will be left feeling like something was missing… meat perhaps, Though this restaurant would be the one to bring you in. This was vegetarian cuisine for the carnivores. And let’s just say, they have made advances in the meat faking department. Faux meat so good that I forgot I was having an all vegetarian meal, and that some of it was even vegan.

Awesome vegan comfort food restaurant and bar. The buffalo chicken wings are the closest vegan alternative I've ever had to real chicken wings and the burgers are great. Plenty of things on the menu giving tonnes of reasons to come back.

The food at meet on main is soo good which is why i think i put up with the service for way longer than i should have. its just crazy how bad the service is. they take so long to see you waiting at the door, seat you somewhere random, forget to tell a server youre sitting there, server doesnt notice you until you get their attention, you have to ask them if you can order and food comes maybe 45 minutes later.. k its vegetables come on ahah. I just dont get how the service can be so bad it really takes away from the quality of the restaurant.

I may sound brutal but unfortunately, I had quite a horrible restaurant experience here. My girlfriends and I came in around 2 pm and didn't get seated till about 2:15ish (this is okay. I have no qualms with waiting for that short amount of time).

We all ordered our hot beverages of tea and coffee with our sides of almond milk and soy milk. We got those orders on time .. the only concern we had was that it all seemed that they were limited with their mugs and the soy and almond milk we ordered. Our waitress came by and said we had to wait for a bit because mugs had to be washed and the almond and soy milk were served in teeny-tiny dip containers (which definitely weren't enough for 4 people)! We had also asked for honey and the waitress said they didn't have any so instead we asked for brown sugar (again, this part was just a concern .. not a definite issue).

We all placed our orders and good thing I ordered some garlic fries for all of us to share (which, by the way, tasted amazing!) because after placing our orders, our food didn't arrive until an hour or so later! We couldn't believe it! We were all starving and we've asked our waitress twice to follow up our orders and other than her wry smile and sounding empathetic, she says that the kitchen was taking awhile because there were a lot of customers who have allergies and they're trying to make sure they get the orders done correctly. After about 15 minutes, another person approaches us (we assume it's the manager) and apologizes to us for the delay. After that long wait, we finally get our order. I had ordered "The Lovely". It was alright..I wouldn't go back for that but definitely for the fries.

In the end, although me and my friends were disappointed with the service, they did end up taking off our drinks and the fries off our bill. For that redeemable act, I'll give them 4/5.

Waste of time. The food took ages to arrive, when it did the order was wrong so ended up not eating it and then the waitress tried to argue. Cannot believe it, where do they find these people?

Meet on main - not because it is Vegetarian/Vegan is it healthy. A lot of fried food to fill the plate. Overcompensating on the spices in an effort to make it unique (?) Service was spoor, slow. Food explained in the "it is so tasty" instead of an educated answer. While paying we asked to box the uneaten salad, left after waiting for over 20 minutes. "The soup just has a bit of curry" inedible for a person with digestive issues. Mostly, so many fried "tasty" options, please tell me how this can be healthy?

Meet on Main is a vegetation Pub foodesqe Diner kind of restaurant in the trendy area of Main Street. There's alot of flavour in the food and they do a pretty good job of making vegetarian pub food. Surprisingly their 'chiggins' do resemble chicken in texture. We had the Hot Chiggin' Things which packed quite the punch with their Buffalo wing sauce. The first couple pieces were good but unfortunately it became too salty and the Meet Burger though juicy and flavorful, it wasn't much different from a mushroom melt except for the fact that the patty is vegetarian.

The best item? Sweet Chili Cauliflower bites! These little balls of goodness were lightly battered, crispy on the outside and well dressed with a sweet mildly spiced sauce. This would be the one thing I would go back for.

Is it worth a try? If you like pub food, yes!
Would I go again? Maybe... And if so, I'd probably try something a little less saucy and I'd get the cauliflower again.
The Sushi Connoisseur
Okay. This was an experience. So, what did I, the resident fish consumer, think of Meet? Well, I went in to the place completely blind and on a diet that doesn't really aid me with vegetarian food, especially since the menu was super starch based (what I'm trying to cut back on). I ended up going for a Supergreen Salad with a Kombucha drink. Apparently the Kombucha drink contained "raw Kombucha" so that tastes super acidic, but the salad made up for it. Yes it was drenched in sauce but how can anyone make raw Zucchini taste good? Meet did that, and exceeded my expectations. I will return when I am not torturing myself by choosing not to eat wheat.

This place is one of my meatless Monday mainstays. Why, you ask, do I keep coming back? It's the food. I've never had any items on the menu that I didn't like. From the hot chiggin things to their burgers, and their salads. Even the so-called bacon in my burger tasted like smoky, crispy bacon. Their burgers and fries are some of the best out there period - as good as any beef burger as far as I'm concerned. Plus, the burgers come with addictive fries AND garden salad with super fresh mint vinaigrette. Definitely one of my favorite vegetarian restaurants.

BUT, it seems as though the wait for the food is getting longer and longer each time. Even service is touch and go recently. Service used to be very attentive.

C'mon man! Pick it up, don't let success get to your head. I don't want to downgrade my rating on the next visit.

For my first vegetarian experience I went up Main Street and ended up at Meet. A fantastic vegetarian place to get together with some friends. I came here on a Saturday for a friends birthday and it was pretty busy around 9PM. We managed to get a table in about 20 minutes. Exposed joists, wood decor, mason jar, type of environment. Servers are friendly. I had the Southwestern BBQ burger with fries. Definitely larger than I had expected and felt quite full after. Would try this place out again.
Candy_foodie
Food here are not bad. All vegetarian food here. I have no clue what my order is called but it looks like vegetarian version of fish and chip. service was so so.
YVR Foodie
Meh the service was alright, and the decor was super hipster. I honestly thought the food was kinda too strong for me, but that's just my thought so don't take it to heart. What I mean by too strong is that there was a lot of sauce and it took away from the natural flavouring of the food. I have been a vegetarian since I was born, and although I have experimented with trying some meat I still do not eat red meat on a regular basis. Therefore, I myself can't judge if the burgers taste like meat, but my mom who also came here said she thought it tasted pretty meaty for veggie burger. She wasn't the biggest fan because of that since she herself have been vegetarian for over 25 years, but I guess to put it on a bright note if you are trying to become vegetarian and have those cravings for a burger for example this is the place to go to relieve those cravings without actually cheating and going for a real meat burger. I have to say though, the satay fries (I forgot what they were specifically called) were really good. I'm always happy to try different types of I guess poutine flavours? *

I'm not a vegetarian or a vegan or anything of the sort, but I have a friend who is, so I came here with them. The menu isn't hard to choose from, but it has a lot of unfamiliar things on it. I decided to go with the safe bet though. Mac and cheese. I was a bit worried about what vegan cashew cheese would taste like with some kind of fake parmasan on it too, but I was really hungry, so I didn't really care. We also got some nacho fries. They also had some kind of vegan cheese on them. Both dishes were surprisingly good. I found myself trying to scrape up the last of my "cheese" of the bottom of my mac and cheese dish at the end. I'm going to come back here and try more of the menu. I'm interested to see what else they can do with fake meat and dairy.
EatingIsMyJob
Solid 3.5 stars. While not a hardcore vegetarian, I like the vibe of these places, maybe more so for this neighbourhood area. Cool place to chill and reasonable prices.

Ordered the sweet & sour cauliflower which was way too salty---I already washed down a glass of water before their infamous burger arrived. Fries were amazing.

Friendly service.

Date worthy, casual.

I'm sure to a classic vegetarian, this is a goldmine.
BeingTazim
By far my favourite place that I've been to this year! Love the atmosphere, music, service, selection, and quality of food. It was hard to decide what to order, since so much of it looked good! We ordered Mac n' cheese, fresh orange juice, a root beer float, a chiggin' Caesar salad, and onion rings/fries. Oh wow! All of it was amazing! We'll be back soon!
Kwikshane
Awesome vegan comfort food. When you long for the beer and wings experience but don't really like the idea of half a dozen chickens dying for it... well you won't be disappointed!
The Compulsive Eater
In my humble opinion you really have to enjoy the hipster ways of eating to really, really enjoy this place. I ordered the Mac and Cheese with the cashew cheese or whatever it was and did not enjoy it at all. On the plus side my friends ordered some loaded fries and a picnic bowl sort of thing, which they seemed to enjoy much more than I enjoyed mine. My friend was nice enough to share her fries with me and I must say they were pretty decent, though I would have used a little more salt in the chilli.
OutnAbout
So excited to have visited this little gem which is about to have a second location in Downtown.

Tried out a few dishes:
- 'whiskey BBQ things' - chiggin things tossed with whiskey BBQ sauce

- 'the macro' - bowlful of brown rice with organic tofu, steamed broccoli, kale, mushrooms, and cashew gravy with green onions and mung bean sprouts

- 'Mac and cheese' - vegan cashew cheese

- 'MoM's portobello stroganoff' - creamy white wine portobello sauce, broccoli, rawmesan and coconut bacon

Food for thought:
To begin, the chiggin thing is a play on words for "chicken things", and while it is not meat, it is filling for an appie. But for the whiskey BBQ sauce, the presence of whisky is so slight that it is quite indistinguishable.

My absolute favourite was 'the macro'. Square plateful of deliciousness - organic brown rice with lots of greens hits the spot for a hearty meal. The cashew gravy tastes good, in fact I didn't know cashew can be made into a gravy! Though one thing is in our bowl we didn't have mung bean sprouts but alfalfa sprouts.

We also had 'Mac and cheese' and 'MoM's portobello stroganoff'. The mac and cheese wasn't too cheesy at all, it's creamy but the cheese is vegan and homemade hence it was slightly more mild than your regular Mac and cheese. The stroganoff was indeed more flavourful with some white wine and portobello.

I definitely need to go again to try out their burgers and more of the bowlful.

Love the atmosphere, the art work sets the tone for the rest of the experience, down to the mason jars of water. Love loved the mac & cheese (gluten free)... the salad was delish as well.

Is it me... Or are they trying to hide that they are a vegetarian restaurant?

If you stumble upon Meet, you will find the decor pleasant with a warm and inviting atmosphere. The menu will appear standard -- make sure you read the descriptions. Things are not what the seem at first glance. Meet is listed here as bar cuisine- they are a vegetarian restaurant. Lots of options for veggie & vegan people!

Looking around I saw other diners having a positive experience. For me it was not so. The wait time to be seated was not long, but another couple was seated ahead of us. Bit frustrating, but whatever- not easy running a restaurant on a Saturday night. We ended up seated moments later beside that same couple. I'm still baffled as to how they had ordered, eaten and paid before we received our food. I think out server was just checked out.

The fries were great! Sour cream for my chilli had no flavour. The chilli was also nice. I had a bite of a burger- not my thing.

Eventually- after 4 different servers promised to bring the card machine- we managed to pay.

I shall return on a quiet night with a vegetarian friend to see if the experience is better/ matches what other reviewers have mentioned.
EatmyWords
I came here to eat with my vegan best friend and I am not one to be a must eat meat all the time every meal kind of guy. If a vegetarian place or vegan place can do something that is outright good, ill eat it, regardless of if theres meat or not. I remember getting a table for two and unfortunately, if you read all my other reviews, I dont eat very small at all. I on average order 2-3 appetizers, 3 entrees and dessert... mostly all the time. So, this I knew from the start wasnt going to work. But lets go with the flow. I ordered the fish and chips, buffalo chiggen things or whatever theyre called, the fries, mac and cheese, root beer float.

Fries: pretty good. not much i can say, fries are fries? unless you screw them up.... so I guess they didnt

Mac and cheese: Unfortunately for vegan, i can make it better. Proven because my vegan best friend said my vegan food is pretty darn good! #nolie

buffalo chiggen things: awesome! absolutely amazing for vegan. i applaud you

fish and chips: real big miss... like real big; i dont know what happened. It was tofu wrapped in seaweed and battered and deep fried. I dont know what happened but the coating did not adhere to the seaweed and the batter was way over fried.

root beer float: i love root beer, easy sell!

its weird that this place was the very old twice removed honolulu cafe. Its now a hipster joint and well... its totally hipster.

id go back again for the chiggen and things maybe to try a few other things but id want to see how their consistency actually turns out in the long run.

im still undecided if my rating is final yet...
Michael
Wow. This is the vegetarian place of my dreams. Juicy, smokey, and meaty burgers that I just crave. Also really good chiggin wings and fried cauliflower. Extensive menu with burgers, salads, fries and other fun stuff like Mac and cheese and stroganoff. Hip atmosphere with interesting art on the walls.

First vegan restaurant I've ever been to. Excellent service, very attentive. Good beer & cocktail selection. The food was amazing! I had the Portobello Stroganoff - totally amazing & not overly saucy at all. My friend had the Lovely which indeed looked lovely, & tasted deel-ish too.

I can't wait to come back & try one of their desserts. First restaurant I've ever been to where EVERY SINGLE dessert is gluten free.

Thank you! I will be back!

"The Lovely" not so lovely. My partner and I came here after some vegetarian friends mentioned it. We ordered The Lovely and 'Ish and Chips. The former, I believe, suffers a similar problem that plagues a lot of vegetarian rice bowls - it was simply too soggy. The dishes here all boast quite an impressive list of ingredients, at least linguistically. The Lovely contains almond satay sauce, carrot, kale, tofu, roasted peppers, and coconut bacon. The abundance of sauce, however, drenched the dish into a gooey mush, and not the good kind (ie. curry). We experienced a similar downside to vegetarian rice bowls in Montreal, where vegetarian restaurants abound. As a Chinese person with a particular perspective and preference on rice, I find that, out of a desire to induce palatability and flavor, vegetarian rice bowls overcompensate by using an excessive amount of sauce, which, while acceptable for pasta, fares less ideally for rice. The other dish, 'Ish and Chips, was basically a battered tofu stick with fries. I actually enjoyed it somewhat, if not just for the novelty. I personally can't get enough of tofu, but ultimately this dish lacked flavor, which could not be remedied by the tar tar sauce. We most likely would not be going back.

When my partner has a hankering for comfort food, this is where he likes to come. Because he's a vegan with celiac disease, he has to be careful, so it's great to go to a restaurant that he can rely on to take care of him. Even better, the food is great. The chili cheese fries are cheesy, hearty and generous. The vegan grilled cheese is as satisfying as a traditional one, and their cashew gravy is smooth and rich. On other visits, we've been pleased with the burgers and pastas. It's comfort food that includes everyone.

Solid Vegetarian/Vegan Place. I came here for an early dinner so we were seated right away. I got The Macro bowl and my friend got The Lovely. Both were very tasty, with rich flavours, and freshly, perfectly cooked vegetables. The only complaint is that the portion was a bit small (the bowl was only filled halfway). The burgers people were getting looked AMAZING. I also got a stiff cocktail (yum!), and the chocolate chip cookie dough balls for dessert. I would definitely return - I would love to come back for appies and drinks! The decor was hipster and funky.
Sophie
Veggie food for veggies and non-veggies. Love how the fact that everything is vegetarian is not overly stated. Food is great, filling and tasty. Crumble and cookie dough balls are perfect for dessert!

Not Something I Expected. This place really isn't what I expected. I went into this restaurant thinking it was a regular restaurant but it turns it was a place that only served food for people who are vegan and eat gluten free. It didn't have a sign or anything saying it was or anything. But anyways, I ordered the quinoa and roasted yam salad and the Meet burger. Both were okay but not filling. The fries were fresh and crunchy. The service was okay....not the best.... There was this one waiter who kept on forgetting the tables and dropped somethings. (Possibly because he was new or so...) I wouldn't come back to this restaurant to eat because I'm not into vegan food. So for those of you out there who love vegan and gluten-free food, come to this place. If you're not vegan or into vegan food, you should just skip this place. Also this place is not for those who dislike to eat in a noisy environment, this place is even nosier than the restaurants that serve dim sum (If you don't know, chinese restaurants are really noisy. I would know because I'm chinese.)

The first time me and my very non-vegetarian friends ended up at Meet was purely accidental. We were out to celebrate a friend’s birthday who didn’t make a reservation. The wait at the restaurant we picked was over an hour long, so we decided to scratch that plan and go somewhere else.

We stumbled upon this little neat looking place, packed with people, and decided to go in. We were greeted by super nice staff and seated promptly. Within minutes we had super tasty boozy drinks in our hands, and the first (good) impression of this place was set.

As we looked through the menu, we quickly realized something was a bit odd. Did they misspell chicken? Why is it called Chiggin? What’s a BBQ Thing? Not so quickly we realized that this was a vegetarian only place.

We had let our server know that we were not prepared well, and didn’t know what to expect from the food but we were keen to try it.

That’s when server number two came to say hi to us, and offered us free samples of their most popular items. We were so greatly impressed by everything from the décor, service to food we decided to come back a few more times.

I’m a huge fan of this place. If I could eat there every day, I would be a devout vegetarian. For now, I will just have my BBQ Chiggin things at the Meet whenever possible.

I was really craving a burger (veggie that is), and happened to be in the area. For under 12$, it really hit the spot. Just a simple patty, not falling apart or chunky like some veg burgers, fresh toppings and bun. The service was super friendly, and the decor simple. I want to go back for the Chiggin' Things and a beer, it looks like they have a few decent locals to choose from.

Okay, just overpriced for vegetarian food. I ate here last week and I thought the prices were too high for basically pub snacks. that said I am opening to trying it again.

Yummy and unpretentious. Vancouver has its fair share of vegetarian/vegan restaurants but falls short with ones that provides creative, delicious, and reasonably priced food AND grounded, friendly servers. Low and behold, my sister and I stumble into Meet on Main for a late night dinner this week. We were greeted at the door by a pleasant girl and lead to a table immediately. The atmosphere was quirky, comforting, and appropriately lit. The Vanilla Pear alcoholic drink and macaroni and cheese with cashew-based sauce were tasty, but what I really enjoyed were the corn fritters and the bite of my sisters burger. If you come to eat here, look around and you will quickly see their burgers are their most popular items. I would definitely return and something new.

Who needs Fatburger?. The BBQ and Blues Burger. A masterpiece. I couldn't believe I was sinking my teeth into something that wasn't a slab of juicy ground beef, but there it was... a product of veganism that boggled my carnivorous mind. Next time I have a burger craving, this place will be at the top of my list. The other stuff was great too. They had a delicious tomato soup with a bit of kick to it. And beware of the kale appetizer with cashew gravy. The immense bowl of kale is a meal in itself.

Service was bare minimum. They took our order, brought us food, and brought the bill. Not even a chance to compliment them on their food with a "how's your meal?" ... but that doesn't really bother us.

Finally! good veggie eats in the Mainstreet hood. I'm a pescatarian but am always on the hunt for vegetarian restaurants so when I heard about this place opening up i was super excited! Tried their blue & bbq burger, comes with blue cheese, whiskey bbq sauce, salad and fries with aoili, the burger was definitely interesting in taste and quite large in portion. also tried the kale salad this was cooked with scallions in a miso sauce, done very nicely! and the quinoa and yam salad with raisins, carrots, kale, yummy goodness! Must try their drinks next time, love this funky place!

Great food, no fuss. Meet on Main served up creative dishes without the normal Main Street pretension that we have all come to know. As a vegan too, there are so many dishes to choose from it was immediately apparent I would have to go back several times. Exciting drinks that are creative but not overwhelming. The staff was friendly and eager to hear feedback. Get in on the communal table and meet some folks!

Wonderful new restaurant. This restaurant is great, with tasty food, friendly and skilled service, and a variety of tasty vegetarian food. A new favourite!

Best restaurant experience. We were completely taken away by this awesome restaurant. Aside from the impeccable service, really cool-hip-alternate decor, great art-music and drinks. The menu was amazing. Everything was delicious and everything this place stands for is amazing. I have never written a review but meet definitely deserves one. Will make trips to Vancouver just to fine here!

Worth a try for non-veggies/vegans. Although I'm not vegetarian or vegan, I had dinner here with a group that included a vegan and a celiac. They were delighted to be able to order almost anything on the menu. Many online reviews have mentioned the poor service here, but we had excellent service. Our server said it was her first shift but she was attentive, pleasant and efficient. All our drinks and food were served promptly. As some point, the manager or front of house guy took over our table. He was very accommodating about splitting the bill for us. We started with the basic fries which came with a chipotle faux-mayo which was delicious. The Lovely was one of their rice bowls with kale, peppers, broccoli, tofu and brown rice covered in a gravy. It was very good but there wasn't that much tofu or veggies in it. Friends had the mac and cheese, beet salad, deep-fried cauliflower. Everyone liked their dishes. The cauliflower was heavily battered and tasted okay, but the texture was a bit spongy. It's also a bit overpriced at $8 for six or seven pieces of cauliflower in batter. The rice bowl and pasta portions are not huge (but the bowls they come in are) but enough to be a satisfying meal, and the prices are reasonable enough in this day and age, but some might remark on the price vs. the smallish portions of not-so-expensive ingredients. The two desserts I tried were the rice pudding and churro balls and chocolate ganache tart. The pudding was a tiny portion. I was supposed to share this with someone and she'd basically eaten it all in two bites, but it came with small scoops of ice cream and two churros balls which were good. The chocolate ganache cake was tasty and not overly sweet, but the crust is really dense and solid so you have to practically chip away at it. Overall it was a good meal and I'd come here again.

Great veggie comfort grub!. My husband and I went here for the first time today and it was excellent! We shared a 'meet burger', fries with curry mayo and spicy wings. Chased it down with a cool bohemian beer. The setting is colourful, artsy and unpretentious. The servers were down to earth and attentive. We really enjoyed the food and the vibe here. The only downside was the obnoxious yuppie couple beside us who rudely complained about the (excellent) food to the waitress and loudly complained about her friends all while texting people on her phone. These obnoxious health conscious entitled snobs really grind my gears lately; they seem to be haunting all the nice veggie spots lately and ruining anything good about these places. I felt so sorry for the sweet waitress who had to deal with her, but she handled herself so we'll and professionally. I was super impressed-I would have not been so elegant if I were in her place. That twat aside, this place is a great new addition to Vegetarian Vancouver! Thanks Meet on Main!

Yummy Vegetarian on Main. Casual, fun, laid back environment with great food and a diverse drink menu. Friendly staff and plenty of options on the menu...I've been a couple times now and have tried almost everything. Great spot for a large party - will definitely be back!

Love this new place. Very open and cozy and staff was all super friendly folks. Had the buffalo "chicken" Cesar salad and finished with the cookie dough dessert..... Just wonderful. The drinks menu looks very fun. Excited to go back and try more!

Finally Veggie Comfort Food in Van!. This place is exactly what the Vancouver veggie scene has been missing. VEG COMFORT FOOD. I went with a large group. We ended up ordering pretty much all the appies and several kinds of fries.

Must order:
--> Hot Chiggin' Things - Freakin' fantastic! You should probably order 2...
--> Sweet Chili Cauliflower
--> Not-cho Average Nacho Fries - Vegan queso, make sure to add the veggie ground!
--> Rice Pudding Churro Balls - And I thought I didn't like rice pudding!

Veg-tastic! Go now!

TVP YUCK!. It is really hard to tell what kind of food this restaurant sells because they make no mention of their food philosophy nor do they mention on their menu that they do not server - burgers - they serve texturized vegetable protein. A good vegetarian restarants I have enjoyed had not had this item on their menu. The chicken shaped substitutes tasted good for the first two and then tasted like TVP, soy like fake meat.

The other dish was a sloppy bowl of food that really didn't have much flavour. The corn fritters were good though, although raw in the middle. Even though this place has just opened, the menu is a miss! The fries are good though, but not enough to build a menu around. This concept needs help....sorry.

Meet on Main Meet on Main has casual fare reminiscent of the dishes at the Foundation and Naam. After a burst of more higher end vegetarian restaurants, such as Acorn, Parker and Heirloom, it’s nice to see a new, super casual vegetarian hangout with comfort food. The Satay and Mayo fries were like New York fries with an Asian-y soy-based peanut butter sauce (although they use almond butter) and chipotle mayo. The crispy cauliflower tasted like sweet chilli chicken. Things taste good when fried and cauliflower fries well. The El Revolucion bowl had a light flavour, which works here. The Meet Burger is Gardein patty I’m told. I thought it would taste normal because I eat many different types of veggie burgers and I regularly eat Gardein burgers at home. However, Meet house smokes the burger, which makes the difference. The Lovely bowl had tofu, kale, broccoli, roasted red pepper and coconut bacon. The sauce is like the peanut sauce you get with Vietnamese salad rolls but less sweet. It’s kind of like the Foundation’s Spicy Peanut. The broccoli gave it a good crunch. It was my favourite bowl and I would get it again. We enjoyed all of the dishes, except the Harvest bowl. The Harvest bowl was too heavy and rich for our liking. We found that it had an odd mix of flavours with quinoa, grilled veggies, vegetarian Italian field sausage, and curried sauerkraut drenched with an overpowering house made gravy. With the ingredients swimming in a pool of gravy, everything just seemed like mush. I didn’t finish this dish, which is a big deal for me because I have a tendency to eat what’s in front of me, even if I don’t like it and even if there’s a lot of it. It just did not jive with my friends or me. Although attentive for the most part, the service was also very casual. We demolished all of our dishes except the Harvest, which we had barely eaten by the end of our meal, and told our server that we didn’t like it and we didn’t want it packed. She responded with a bright “ok” a

... addictive fries, soft in the center and crispy on the outside, some fries were completely crisp too - very fresh and served hot; didn't really taste the satay, but loved the mayo...

The Fries were an interesting mix of veggies and cheese, but could have used a tad more cheese. The Corn Fritters were delish! The Sweet Chilli Cauliflower was too sour for my liking but my friend really enjoyed it.

3.75/5 The interior is definitely cool and oh so hipster. And it was awesome. A photo posted by Angel (@angellovesmj) on Jan 3, 2015 at 10:35pm PST I ordered the daily soup (very smooth) which strangely tasted like lamb. But my friend said it's probably because it used lots of spices that were used on lambs. Anyway, it tasted healthy and warm. I also ordered "The Amsterdam" which were vegetable sausage bites. They tasted too DAMN CHEWY and herbal but when I grilled it with my poutine the next day, they tasted good. Do not think I would order this again. A photo posted by Angel (@angellovesmj) on Jan 3, 2015 at 10:40pm PST I got to try my friend's Spicy Cauliflower. Disappointing. Nothing of it tasted like a chicken wing. The corn fritters are delicious. Would order. One of my friends also got a gravy fries with cheese. That was delicious. Food. Tasted better than the lighting. #becausemycameraspupilsdonotdiluteenough #aperture #vegetarian A photo posted by Angel (@angellovesmj) on Jan 3, 2015 at 10:44pm PST This is my friend, http://instagram.com/wongers13/ 's photo, which is way better than mine. On the top left is the cauliflower wings, and top right is the poutine. A delicious first time at @meetonmain! Great company and friendly staff! A photo posted by Colleen Wong (@wongers13) on Jan 3, 2015 at 9:23pm PST I got their special beer as well which was actually pretty good!!! Overall, an enjoyable experience and I'd love to go back and try one of their bowls. xx Angel

Meet on Main is a rather busy vegan/gluten free eatery that has apparently positioned itself very well geographically to grab the vegan / gluten-free demographic.... Food generally looks "normal" -- that is, if you weren't paying attention, you might think this a regular restaurant. Some of it doesn't taste "normal", though -- mostly the pretend-to-be-meat items. Vegan pretend-meat often involves soy or tofu or something else that has a bitter aftertaste. Texture isn't bad, but taste is too far off for a meat-eater to pull a fast one on them.

After a power yoga session on Friday night, we (mostly me) wanted to eat something healthy, delicious and substantial enough to satisfy our post-workout tummies. We’ve decided that it was time to hit up Meet on Main again! We’ve been back a few times since we wrote our last review and we still love that place.

Q and I came across a new restaurant called Meet On Main that opened up on Main street. It’s fairly close to Sawasdee and I think it took over the Vietnamese pho place formerly known as Tonkin . It looks like a blend of a chill coffee shop and cafe. The vibe is incredibly hipster and relaxed. Big bar, communal table, and smaller tables. Awesome. (Q: I think it is quite cute! It is actually very warm and not that intimidatingly hipster.) Really cool space The space is large, and the lighting is fantastic. Very Main St. hipsterish. (Q: all the waiters/waitresses do fit that Main St hipster stereotype look, but they’re incredibly friendly!) It’s a space that’s really built for a casual meal and plenty of conversation. Small tables and large communal table Their menu is great for a place that just opened literally a week or so ago. What makes Meet on Main different? They designed their menu around comfort food without leaving anybody out – they have amazing dishes for vegans.
